In his classic “The Roots of American Order,” Russell Kirk observes that harmony, order and freedom in society are not something imposed from outside by police or the national guard. Armed guards are the backstops, the last resort, which we call in for emergencies, when chaos is breaking out.
Those great good things make up the social peace that St. Paul, and all Christians since him, have prayed for in their time. They emerge from a much more intimate source than government agents with guns. They flow from the human heart and well-ordered minds, then play out in everyday life, especially in the home. That same order radiates organically through society, as honest people interact with each other, compete fairly, cooperate for mutual benefit, and when need be sacrifice their personal interests for the sake of the greater good.

Woven into Fidencio Sanchez’s story are two key lessons from which every American could benefit. The first is that communities are invaluable in caring for the general wellbeing of their residents, and that flourishing begins on the ground level. Who understands the poor paleta vendor’s story better: Mr. Macias driving by on the street, or Washington policymakers attempting to draft comprehensive aid packages to cover poor communities?
This story is also a testament to the incredible power of a strong work ethic. Sanchez was going to provide for his family, regardless of any support he received, because, like he said, “We have to pay the bills.”

We might want to rethink going God-less
For the skeptics among us, I believe that a particularly effective method for confirming God’s existence is to try and imagine a world without Him (- leaving out for the sake of argument the very existence of creation itself). In other words, how healthy would any society be without a majority of people at least attempting to live by a moral code – at a minimum – the “Golden Rule?” ~

Nothing changes – Feds have been willfully blind to Islamic terrorism since Oklahoma City
In what’s still referred to as the largest act of homegrown domestic terrorism in U.S. history, the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City was blown up April 19, 1995, killing 168 Americans and wounding 680 others. But the “homegrown” and “domestic” labels are intentionally misleading. Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols were the fall guys for the horrific crime, but their collaborators got off scot-free.
Jayna Davis, a journalist who was working at KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City at the time of the attack, carefully covered the story from day one. She documented her findings in “The Third Terrorist,” published in 2004.
During the course of her extensive investigation, Davis discovered that a larger, more sinister story than the bombing itself was developing; strangely enough, the federal government seemed to have very little interest in learning who was actually behind it.
She found that no one in DOJ and other federal investigative agencies wanted to hear anything about suspicious Middle Eastern men who were spotted with McVeigh several times in the days leading up to the bombing. No one wanted to investigate numerous leads that clearly pointed to a much larger terrorist organization – with resources that neither of the two men convicted of the bombing would have had access to on their own. No one wanted to know about a strategy that Islamists sometimes employed to recruit “Lily Whites” for the cause. (The term refers to operatives with no criminal record and no known ties to Middle East terror networks. It just so happened that McVeigh and Nichols were perfect “Lily Whites.”)
This isn’t just another far-fetched conspiracy theory. According to an article in World Net Daily (Dec. 2015) by Leo Hohmann ~
In 2005 Nichols admitted in a jailhouse interview with Rep. Dana Rohrabacher, R-Calif., that the theory put forth by Davis in her book, “The Third Terrorist: The Middle Eastern Connection to the Oklahoma City Bombing,” was accurate and that other people were involved in the attack. But Nichols refused to provide names, citing fears that it could endanger his family.
But the truth was apparently not a priority. The feds had their “homegrown domestic” terrorism story and they were sticking to it. Anyone who tried to suggest otherwise was ignored or marginalized. Never mind how many American lives might have been saved in the next 20 years or so…

Oklahoma City – as well as the first World Trade Center bombing – happened on Bill Clinton’s watch. But in defense of Slick Willy, the feds’ concerted efforts to ignore signs of Islamic involvement have been pretty much apolitical. For example, the Ft. Hood shooting occurred during Barack Obama’s first year in office (11-5-09), but was clearly a consequence of years of lax, politically-correct policies regarding Muslim service personnel ~
“The FBI was too concerned about political correctness and did not launch an investigation into a man who was later charged with killing 13 people in the 2009 attack in Fort Hood, Texas, despite significant warning signs that he was an Islamic extremist bent on killing civilians,” the Associated Press reported in 2012.

Obama has taken this deliberate intelligence obfuscation to a whole new level of course, admonishing Americans not to get all islamaphobic every time more of us are murdered by another Muslim terrorist. That may well have resulted in putting American troops at risk as policymakers relied on this intelligence when formulating policy and allocating resources for the fight.” ~

Their aversion to the truth about this threat has gotten so extreme that the FBI is now blatantly censoring facts. Shortly after the Orlando nightclub shooting…
… the FBI released a heavily redacted transcript of Mateen’s 911 call, in which he pledged his allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. The FBI had scrubbed references to ISIS and changed his use of “Allah” to “God,” as though it were a translation rather than a transcript. Most damning of all, however, was the revelation that the FBI was aware of Mateen’s presence, had interviewed him three times in the past few years, and knew he belonged to the same mosque as Moner Mohammad Abusalha, the first American suicide bomber in Syria.
Of course the media is complicit in the disinformation effort as well. Three months ago M.G. Oprea at the Federalist reported on a senate investigative hearing led by Ted Cruz, details of which received very little attention in the mainstream media. They don’t want the sheeple to find out ~
… how the federal government has not only refused to appropriately identify the specific threat of radical Islam, but has sought to undermine the people and information who have sought to highlight the threat.

During the Senate hearing, Turkey’s Ataturk airport was attacked by suicide bombers, killing dozens, and al-Qaeda released a special edition of their English-language publication Inspire Guide urging lone-wolf attackers to target the “Anglo-Saxon community” so their acts won’t be misinterpreted as “hate crimes” but rather what they really are: religiously motivated terrorist attacks. How painfully ironic that Islamist terrorists are so flummoxed by the liberal West’s insistence on ignoring their motivations that they had to make an official statement to clarify things.

Two years before the bombings that Ahmad Khan Rahami is suspected of carrying out in New York and New Jersey, his father told the police that his son was a terrorist, prompting a review by federal agents, according to two law enforcement officials.
The father, Mohammad Rahami, in a brief interview on Tuesday, said that at the time he told agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his concern, his son had just had a fight with another of his sons and stabbed the man, leading to a criminal investigation.
“Two years ago I go to the F.B.I. because my son was doing really bad, O.K.?” he said. “But they check almost two months, they say, ‘He’s O.K., he’s clean, he’s not a terrorist.’ I say O.K.”
He added: “Now they say he is a terrorist. I say O.K.”[Sounds like an SNL skit!]
It is not clear if officers ever interviewed Ahmad Rahami, but as investigators turn their focus to what might have motivated, inspired or led him to plant bombs in Chelsea in Manhattan and on the Jersey Shore, new clues are emerging indicating that he may have been increasingly receptive to extremist ideology.

20th Century Islam – Before the Burkini
Sixty years ago the world was a much safer place. After the Allies beat back the Nazis and Imperial Japan in World War II, the western worldview was gradually spreading to previously troubled spots across the globe. Relative peace and prosperity were breaking out. Once again humans were actually being fruitful and multiplying.
Satan wasn’t happy. Peaceful, productive nations do not serve his purposes. And although he was still quite active in the Soviet Union and other communist hellholes at the time, much more chaos was clearly called for.
Surveying the Arab world, he realized there was still much untapped potential for murder, mayhem and wanton destruction. But speed was of the essence, they were rapidly becoming much too westernized…
Time to once again incite the followers of Mohammed to jihad. Characteristically, with a brilliantly demonic twist, he inspired them to denounce Western nations as “Satan.” The Religion-of-Peace responded with unbridled enthusiasm; terrorist attacks are now a weekly occurrence in the West, and the Middle East and north Africa are awash in a sea of blood and violence.
It’s worth a quick trip down memory lane to the 60s and 70s to recall what life in Muslim-majority countries looked like before they began the totalitarian march back to the 14th century, before the darkness descended again, before the burkini ~

Standing up to the sanctimony of collegiate athletic associations
In the latest episode of the ongoing misadventure I’m calling The Emperor’s New Genders (yes – we now have more varieties to chose from than Heinz 57) the Atlantic Coast collegiate athletic conference (ACC) has become the latest organization to decree that 21st century males and females are suddenly so indistinguishable from one another that society should simply do away with separate bathroom facilities.
Headquartered in North Carolina, the ACC had scheduled 14 of its 21 championship events in their home state for this academic year. But because the Tar Heel state legislature has decided to go with the wisdom of millennia, and their own common sense, opting to protect the privacy and safety of their citizens (from perverts like this), the conference is following the NCAA’s lead and pulling those tournaments – “to protest the state’s controversial bathroom law.” 😯
Because according to the leftist media – in the above case NBC – ever since five minutes ago it’s “controversial” to expect human beings to use the restroom that corresponds to their chromosomes, i.e., sex. The truth is, the NC bathroom law (HB2) was only passed to reinstate the traditional choice of separate bathrooms that the radically controversial ordinance passed by LGBTQ-whatever activists had sought to revoke for all businesses in the city of Charlotte.
It’s good to see there’s some serious push-back against this latest sanctimonious nonsense. Last Thursday Franklin Graham (President and CEO of Samaritan’s Purse and the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) sent an open letter to John Swofford, commissioner of the ACC, in response to the conference’s ludicrous action and profound hypocrisy. Here’s an excerpt ~
(T)he ACC’s member schools compete in 25 sports divided by gender—12 men’s sports and 13 women’s. Though gender issues may be becoming more complicated in higher education and other parts of society, the athletic conference you serve as commissioner doesn’t seem to have any problem distinguishing between the two genders—male and female. Yet, when a state like the one I live in seeks to make the same distinction with regard to use of public bathrooms in an effort to protect its citizens from those who would use the men’s room today and the women’s room tomorrow, the academic elites who comprise your conference fake a moral outrage that is frankly shameful.
Ironically, the NCAA is more discriminatory towards transgender people than the public policy they apparently wish to see as law in America. For example, opponents to legislation like NC House Bill 2 support permitting people to use the bathroom which corresponds to the sex they identify with on a given day—meaning someone might feel like a man today and a woman tomorrow, switching bathrooms at will.
Yet even the NCAA doesn’t allow such casual gender identity for participation in collegiate athletics. The NCAA Policy on Transgender Student-Athlete Participation states, “Any transgender student-athlete who is not taking hormone treatment related to gender transition may participate in sex-separated sports activities in accordance with his or her assigned birth gender.” This is precisely what supporters of HB2 have been requesting—that people use public restrooms in accordance with their assigned birth gender.
I think I represent the views of millions who would rather preserve gender-specific public bathrooms—a mainstay for generations—than to attend a football game in my state to determine the champion of a conference governed by politically-correct, morally hypocritical academics.

Shame on us if we abandon our children to face this tyrannical bully for themselves while we cave in to try and save ourselves some grief. Shame on us if we don’t fight for their bodily, intellectual and spiritual integrity. Woe to us if we leave them to be deformed by a demonic ideology.
Who would choose to settle for this barren, bizarre and hopeless version of life, when the truth is beautiful, rich, and brings with it the vibrant life God desires for His children? Right reason brings order and prosperity. Right reason is freedom.

ACLU Loses Attempt to Force Catholic Hospital to Refer Patients for Abortions ~ Great to see the good guys win one of these atheist battles ~
A Catholic hospital in Michigan will not be forced to recommend abortions to patients after a federal court rejected a woman’s lawsuit on Thursday.
In May, the ACLU published an advocacy report titled “Health Care Denied,” attacking Catholic hospitals that refuse to do abortions and other medical procedures that violate their faith. The publication highlighted how many hospitals in the U.S. are Catholic (one in six), and then accused them of jeopardizing women’s lives because they do not do abortions, sterilizations and other “reproductive health” procedures.
Grazie Pozo Christie, a Miami-area radiologist and a Catholic, told the Baptist Press that the ACLU’s claims are false.

Brave new world of chimeras
So is everyone on board with using our tax dollars to let scientists play Doctor Moreau? Obama and his league of leftists sure are. In their progressive worldview, if something is technologically possible we should be totally unencumbered by any trivial moral or ethical concerns.
In the real world, this do-it-because-we-can mentality translates into such “compassionate” medical “advances” as killing babies in the womb, cutting penises off males – and adding them to females, euthanizing “undesirables,” abandoning fertilized embryos and sterilizing unsuspecting African women.
Naturally the Left is anxious to embrace the next brave new medical frontier: creating animal/human hybrids for science. This recent article from To the Source explains what’s involved ~
(They’re conducting) experiments by which human stem cells are injected into animal embryos, creating what are known as “chimeras,” that is an organism with the genetic makeup of more than one species. Of greater concern this experimentation could, one day, lead to the birth of mostly animals that exhibit some human attributes, such as, say rationality.
What could possibly go wrong?
Nothing that progressives can imagine that’s for sure. Which is why your federal government, specifically the Nation Institutes of Health (NIH), thinks they should lift the current moratorium on using tax payer funds for this nefarious research. As LifeSite News reported last month ~
On August 4, 2016, the NIH announced that it will begin spending taxpayer dollars on the creation and manipulation of new beings whose very existence blurs the line between humans and animals.
We’re not talking about using a pig’s heart valve to fix a human heart. Nor are we talking about growing human cancer tumors in mice to study disease processes. These non-controversial practices have been going on for decades and don’t pose any serious ethical problems.
Chimera research however is fundamentally different from those technologies, in a very frightening brave new world way ~
First, it relies on the killing of humans at the embryonic stage to harvest their stem cells. Second, it involves the production of animals that could have partly or wholly human brains. Third, it involves the production of animals that could have human sperm or eggs (with a stipulation that precautions are taken so such animals are not allowed to breed).
Finally, introducing human embryonic stem cells into very early animal embryos will make it very difficult to know the extent to which human cells contribute to the final organism.
This is another key moral problem with the NIH proposal: If researchers can’t know for certain whether the resulting being has human status or characteristics, they won’t know what their moral obligations may be toward that being.
This experimentation is effectively another assault on the biblical view of humans as unique beings; the understanding that we were created by God in His own image, superior to – and having dominion over – all other forms of life. It is this core belief that allows us to see see the dignity and worth of every human life.

Anti human exceptionalists would declare that the creation of these chimeric animal/human beings obliterates the wall that has traditionally divided us from all other life forms on the planet. To quote philosopher Mortimer Adler, who wrote many years ago in “The Difference of Man and the Difference it Makes”, if we were to so dismantle the unique moral status accorded to human beings, universal human rights become impossible to sustain philosophically:
Those who now oppose injurious discrimination on the moral ground that all human beings, being equal in their humanity, should be treated equally in all those respects that concern their common humanity, would have no solid basis in fact to support their normative principle. A social and political ideal that has operated with revolutionary force in human history would be validly dismissed as a hollow illusion that should become defunct…
Why, then, should not groups of superior men be able to justify their enslavement, exploitation, or even genocide of inferior human groups, on factual and moral grounds akin to those that we now rely on to justify our treatment of the animals we harness as beasts of burden, that we butcher for food and clothing, or that we destroy as disease-bearing pests or as dangerous predators?
These are serious (scary!) concerns that progresssives refuse to consider – or worse, they have considered them – and dismissed them as irrelevant.

Feigning impartiality about this research, NIH recently provided a limited time period for public feedback on lifting the ban. We only had until September 6th to register our opinions on this hugely controversial issue.
A cursory glance at the NIH website reveals that those who did comment are strongly opposed to this whole concept – especially using federal funding for this experimentation. I estimate that negative comments (majority are quite thoughtful and sincere) were running 20-30:1…
Do you think the feds actually care?
I’m not sure when a final decision was to be made… can’t find any confirmation that NIH has actually gone ahead and permanently lifted the ban on funding. But given progressives proclivity to play God it’s a safe – but depressing – bet that they will.

Hillary Clinton’s “basket of deplorables” comment, arrogantly disparaging half of Donald Trump’s supporters, has by now gone viral – not just on social media but across the whole news spectrum.
Her elitest insult notwithstanding (pot meet kettle), is there anything more “deplorable” than the considerable baggage Hilly is dragging along in her dogged attempt to bulldoze her way into the White House?!

This poor hapless victim, callously framed by the O’Ministration to take the blame for the 2012 terrorist attacks in Cairo and Benghazi (in a desperate attempt to promote their false narrative) is now homeless! ~
Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the Coptic Christian whose short video “The Innocence of Muslims” was initially faulted for sparking the Sept. 11, 2012 terror attack at U.S. diplomatic compounds in Libya, is now living in a homeless shelter run by First Southern Baptist Church in Buena Park, Calif. He has served time in prison, been shamed publicly by the White House and threatened with death.
“I don’t believe in democracy anymore,” Nakoula told FoxNews.com. “I don’t think there is such a thing as freedom of speech.”
This is tragic – not to mention Orwellian.
Clearly Hillary Clinton should be in prison for any one of these despicable deeds – not in the Oval Office. She’s a deplorable basket-case!
