Added: Scalise Returns to Baseball Field One Year After Shooting That Nearly Took His Life ~

This year’s charity Congressional Baseball Game, pitting Republicans against Democrats, takes place next Thursday, June 14 — exactly one year after the assassination attempt. We don’t know who will win the game, but we do know Steve Scalise has already been victorious.

Next week will mark the one-year anniversary of the shooting spree by Bernie Sanders’ supporter James T. Hodgkinson, which left five Republicans injured; Rep. Steve Scalise critically. The victims were deliberately targeted for their politics while at an early morning congressional softball practice.
 
Immediately after the shooting Scalise’s initial status was grave ~

(He) was in critical condition and at imminent risk of death after the shooting. The bullet that struck him entered his left hip and caused injuries to numerous internal organs. He was released from the hospital in late July after several surgeries and then went through intensive inpatient rehabilitation.

Scalise was finally able to return to work more than three months after the attack, but has yet to fully recover from his injuries.

As I discussed last summer, had the political parties been reversed, we never would have heard the end of this assault. By now the mainstreams would have been screeching for Trump’s impeachment for instigating violence.
 

Instead, not only did the Left refuse to acknowledge the motivation behind the shooting, we have a rabid progressive PAC appropriately named “Mad Dog” which is urging donors to “‘Take Out’ Republican Who Survived Shooting” ~

A liberal group is raising money to put up a billboard to “take out” Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), who survived being shot while practicing at a baseball field in Alexandria last June.
 
The homepage of Mad Dog PAC’s website has a photo of the proposed billboard with a link asking site-goers for donations. The liberal group is the same organization behind a billboard with the message “IMPEACHMENT NOW” along the motorcade route to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

 
A visit to Mad Dog’s website reveals an amended version of the Scalise billboard; “VOTE HIM OUT.” They must have realized it was over the top – even for Leftists. But their attitude is still pretty militant, as The Federalist reports ~

Mad Dog PAC chairman Claude Taylor told The Ledger that his group was planning to “toss mortars” at the other side.
 
“People know that President Trump is a crook, and we’re going to do something about it,” Taylor said. “We are tossing mortars at the other side. We’re not offering policy prescriptions. We’re attack dogs; that’s what we’re here for.”

 
Incendiary language? Provocative? Nah, not if you’re a Lefist.

The case before the court, Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, was not – as the deceitful, leftist media is trying to spin it – a matter of not serving gays. It was a dispute over whether or not the state has the right to force a business owner to provide a service that violates their deeply-held religious convictions.
 
Dr. Michael Brown shared his thoughts on the decision at The Stream ~

In a 7-2 decision, the court specifically rebuked the Colorado Civil Rights Commission, which had ruled against Phillips when he refused to design a wedding cake for a same-sex “marriage.” As expressed in the majority opinion of Anthony Kennedy, “The Commission’s hostility was inconsistent with the First Amendment’s guarantee that our laws be applied in a manner that is neutral toward religion” […]
 
Today, the Supreme Court took an important step in recognizing that the First Amendment remains in force. It also confirmed what I have said for years, namely, that LGBT activism is the principle threat to freedoms of religion, speech, and conscience in America. May the pushback against this extremism continue.

 

We definitely do need to continue the pushback (You can help by supporting Alliance Defending Freedom – the organization that represented Masterpiece Cakeshop – and similar non-profits; American Center for Law and Justice, First Liberty, Liberty Counsel and Thomas More Society).
 
Usually when progressives are faced with something they perceive as a setback to their radical ideological agenda – like this SCOTUS decision – they double-down on the vitriol, hate and deceit. So we should brace for renewed attacks. And let’s keep praying!

In the run-up to the oral arguments in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission on December 5, we’re seeing a lot of table-pounding from the Left. In fact, I’ve never seen a case more mischaracterized in my entire legal career.
 
The actual facts of the case are crystal clear. Jack Phillips, owner of Masterpiece Cakeshop, refused to custom-design a cake to help celebrate a gay wedding. As a Christian, he finds same-sex unions to be unbiblical and immoral, and he wasn’t willing to use his artistic talents to advance a message he holds to be wrong. In fact, he’d frequently declined to design cakes that advanced messages he found to be offensive. But he never, ever — not once — discriminated against any customers on the basis of their identity. He baked cakes for people of all races, creeds, colors, and sexual orientations.

Last year, a Christian in Pakistan died because three Muslim doctors refused to touch him. It was Ramadan, and the patient, being Christian, was “unclean.” Yes, doctors are supposed to be above such considerations. Hippocratic Oath and all that. “First do no harm.” But for devout Muslims, other doctrines take precedence. The Koran instructs them not to heal the infidel but to slay him. What does a pious Muslim physician think when confronted with a critically ill patient who is not only an infidel but a critic of Islam?

Last week in his valedictory address, retiring Luton Crown Court Judge Nic Madge spoke of his concern that carrying a knife had become routine in some circles and called on the Government to ban the sale of large pointed kitchen knives. 😯

Trey Gowdy (R-SC) has been posing as a conservative for years. But now that he’s announced he won’t seek reelection in the fall he’s let the mask drop and exposed the swamp creature within. Although Gowdy intimated that the information he received in a briefing last week made clear the FBI did nothing wrong, numerous reports from multiple news outlets indicated that the lawmakers DOJ invited to the briefing were not given access to all of the records HPSCI subpoenaed. Other comments Gowdy made during recent television interviews raise questions about how firm a grasp he has on the investigation and concerns the investigation has raised.

The right-to-kill comes with consequences

Almost 70% of the voters in Ireland voted to repeal their 8th Amendment which had protected the life of an unborn child, and so disallowed abortion – except where the mother’s life was threatened. Parliament will now be responsible for writing new abortion legislation.
 
Apparently, like the majority of westerners these days, the Irish want their sex to be consequence-free. But reality doesn’t work that way. They’ll soon discover that abortion comes with lots of ugly consequences ~

 

We are not having enough babies to maintain current population ~

 
This story was just reported in the Independent-Irish News. Maybe they should have published it before the repeal referendum ~

Ireland is not producing enough children to maintain the population as it currently stands, the Central Statistics Office (CSO) says.
 
Women aged 15-49 are having an average of 1.8 children each, which is the second-highest birth rate in Europe after France, but 2.1 is considered the level at which the population would replace itself in the longer term.

He notes that “Wikipedia lists eight years of mass shootings in the United States between 1929 and 1972. That is a span of 43 years. Roe v. Wade was issued in 1973. Between 1973 and 2017 — a span of 44 years — the site lists 39 years of mass killings in the United States.”

 

Women Who Abort Face 81-Percent Increase in Risk for Mental Health Problems, Study Shows ~

Women who have abortions are much more likely to suffer mental health issues when compared to their peers who have carried their pregnancies to term, the British Journal of Psychiatry study showed.
 
Substance use and suicidal behavior were the most common mental health illnesses that arose after abortions, according to the study. Women who aborted were twice as likely to commit suicide as women who carried their pregnancies to term.

 

Sadly, the Irish will now have to live with the tragic fallout from their misguided choice to repeal their abortion ban.

Most divisive POTUS in history still loves to denigrate Americans

So the fabulist, Ben Rhodes, President Obama’s former advisor, is releasing his memoirs next week; “The World as It Is.” (Quite an ironic title considering the man admits to deliberately deceiving Americans about the Iranian nuclear deal. He should have called it “The World as Ben Rhodes Sees It” – since that particular view bears little resemblance to reality.) ~

Set to be published next week by Random House, Mr. Rhodes’s memoir, “The World as It Is,” offers a peek into Mr. Obama’s tightly sealed inner sanctum from the perspective of one of the few people who saw him up close through all eight years of his presidency. Few moments shook Mr. Obama more than the decision by voters to replace him with a candidate who had questioned his very birth.

 
Shortly after the election Rhodes describes the former president struggling to understand Trump’s victory ~

He had read a column asserting that liberals had forgotten how important identity was to people and had promoted an empty cosmopolitan globalism that made many feel left behind. “Maybe we pushed too far,” Mr. Obama said. “Maybe people just want to fall back into their tribe.”

American “nationalism” – such as it is – is not social, racial or ethnic, it is ideological. That is, based on ideas that transcend those superficial qualities. Our commonality is that we all embrace – or used to embrace – those timeless principles.

Following Jesus, whatever the cost

For me, one of the most convincing proofs of the truth of Christianity has always been the stunning transformation of Jesus’ apostles after His resurrection. While Christ was being arrested, tried and crucified his disciples denied knowing Him, fled and went into hiding, desperately frightened that they would share their Master’s fate. Yet little more than a month later these very same men were suddenly fearless evangelists, holding their own lives in little regard, on fire for the gospel. Who else but the risen Lord – and the Holy Spirit – could have inspired them so?
 
This courage, fearlessness – in the face of harsh persecution that none of us in western nations can even imagine – is truly the hallmark of a faithful Christian.

This is 21st century “justice” in the United Kingdom?

Well, tragically, Ireland voted for the right to kill their unborn children (even though all they had to do was sail over to Wales for a quickie abortion).
Heaven weeps. Although given the fact that the country voted for gay marriage three years ago, the moral slide wasn’t entirely unexpected.
 
But here’s a story from the other side of the pond that’s much more shocking – frightening even – for those of us who love freedom.
 

Tommy Robinson is the pseudonym for Stephen Christopher Lennon, a sometimes volatile journalist/activist who’s considered “far right;” he focuses primarily on British nationalism and frequently on the Islamification of the U.K.. Today, Robinson was in Birmingham outside outside the Leeds Crown Court, covering the trial of a Muslim child-grooming gang (ten men are being tried for offenses including child rape, trafficking, and supplying of Class A drugs to children) – when law enforcement decided to arrest, try and sentence him to 13 months in jail (in a matter of hours!), for “causing a disturbance.”
 
Ezra Levant of The Rebel Media (Robinson used to work for the news site) explains what happened ~

Even scarier than the blatant miscarriage of justice is the subsequent gag-order imposed on the British media against reporting on this story. Is this the new U.K. Socialist Republic?

Ireland, please “Save the 8th”

Ireland is facing a referendum vote of huge import tomorrow, one that may alter the very soul of that nation. They’ll be deciding whether or not to legalize abortion.
 
savethe8thOne of just a handful of countries in Europe to protect the unborn, Ireland’s 8th constitutional amendment acknowledges that a human embryo is a unique individual with a right to life ~

“The State acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and, with due regard to the equal right to life of the mother, guarantees in its laws to respect, and, as far as practicable, by its laws to defend and vindicate that right.”

 
National Review explains the implications of a repeal ~

Ireland’s government, most of its media class, and a number of NGOs are campaigning to erase the Eighth and allow the Dail to legislate to make abortion available. The law they are proposing to enact afterward is modeled on legislation found in the United Kingdom. It includes an unlimited right to terminate a pregnancy in the first twelve weeks of gestation, and then an expansive health exception that would effectively allow the termination of any pregnancy at any time.
 
The choice before the Irish people is not just to make abortion legal in Ireland, but to make it common there.

 

Standing in opposition to most of the world on the issue of abortion, and embracing the natural rights of the unborn, is a good thing. The Irish should be proud. Their pro-life stance is a residual effect of their once predominate Catholicism. This lingering culture of life sets Ireland apart from other western nations – in a positive way – as National Review points out ~

Ireland’s law against abortion has not produced the dystopia that pro-abortion activists conjure to gain consent. Ireland has one of the lowest gender-income gaps on earth, and it has outstanding statistics in maternal health. Although some Irish women who are determined to get an abortion do cross the Irish Sea to get one, the Eighth Amendment clearly lowers the rate of abortion overall, and Ireland stands in contrast to the rest of Western Europe, having consistently maintained a higher-than-replacement fertility rate. Irish people meet and interact with people whose lives were saved by the Eighth Amendment every single day.
 
Repeal of the Eighth will not end Ireland’s own version of the culture wars. In fact, it will come with a nasty backwash of secularism, as activists inevitably pressure religious health institutions to make the procedure more widely accessible, and demand that religious schools defend it as a social good. It will not exorcise the ghosts of Ireland’s sometimes unhappy past. It will not solve the problems of Irish society, as abortion is the most parsimonious and nasty thing a society can offer a woman as its all-purpose solution to a difficult pregnancy. Repealing the Eighth is a step backward on human rights.

Because there are really no good excuses for the indiscriminate termination of a pregnancy, the Left has been forced to resort to deception and subterfuge to promote abortion across the globe. One of their original and most potent lies – it’s just a blob of tissue – was exposed years ago thanks to ultrasound technology and other medical advances. We now know the heart of an embryo begins to beat at 3 weeks.
 
But how many Americans realize that the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion in the U.S. was based on a pack of lies? From Planned Parenthood – ironically-named, and founded by a libertine eugenicist – to using false statistics to sway public opinion, to the manipulation of Jane Roe (a penniless high school dropout named Norma Jane McCorvey who later became an ardent pro-life advocate) – the entire push for abortion was an unholy sham.

Critics say Savita Halappanavar’s 2012 death has been exploited by abortion activists to influence this week’s referendum that could impose abortion-on-demand on a historically pro-life country. Critics say Ireland’s abortion laws had nothing to do with Savita’s death.
 
Three official investigations found that Savita, 31, died of sepsis – a blood infection – caused by “extremely virulent bacteria,” E. coli ESBL. Under Ireland’s abortion laws, the woman would have been permitted an abortion had doctors realized how sick she was when she came to the hospital.
 
“First and foremost, this was a subsequent medical negligence case,” Ireland’s Lawyers for Life stated in a Facebook post last week. “This was well reported in the media at the time of the medical negligence court case.”

 

Even Google is helping promote the misinformation campaign. The tech giant, suddenly one of the self-appointed social arbiters of our Brave New World Order, is not only a huge proponent of abortion, apparently that’s the only position they’ll permit on their platform. Google shut down its platform to all campaigns despite knowing it would disproportionately harm the No (those opposed to repealing the 8th) campaign. Google had access to all the analytics from the advertisements on both sides. It knew exactly where each side would devote its resources and that the No side was stronger online.
 
To put all this into an American perspective, this is basically as if Google, two weeks from the midterm elections, decided it was going to ban all election ads after having been lobbied furiously to do so by one of the parties because that party suddenly realized it was losing the digital fight; announced it was doing so because it had concerns the mid-terms might be compromised; and then refused to answer any questions when people rightfully asked, “What do you mean our elections are compromised?”

 

John Sweeney at the Federalist rightly surmises what a repeal would mean ~

Repealing the Eighth Amendment will likely be the final nail in the coffin of the once deeply Catholic culture in Ireland. If the Irish people choose to sacrifice the rights of the unborn to the libertinism of the sexual revolution, they will have no more right to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day than the average American who chooses to honor the great saint by spending March 17 drinking green Miller Lite.

 

Please pray that Ireland makes the righteous decision for the right to life of the unborn tomorrow.

Ms C has said that she was given the abortion, which she regrets every day, without her consent, and is calling for a No vote.

Speaking of liars… what a pathetic disgrace Obama’s national intelligence director is ~ Lying Liar James Clapper Just Lied Again About His Previous Lies About NSA Spying; exhibiting precisely the behavior that Jefferson was warning about.
 
jamesClapperIt would be bad enough if Clapper’s dishonesty were confined to the sphere of his personal life (perhaps cheating on his wife or taxes), at least it wouldn’t have national security implications. Instead he – and his cohorts (James Comey, John Brennan, Andrew McCabe, Robert Mueller, etc., etc.)- have severely undermined we-the-people‘s trust in our government. They’ve told so many falsehoods over the course of RussiaGate they’re now tripping over themselves trying to keep them all straight.
 
And any further embellishment from these lying liars – i.e., We only spied on him for his own good, because hey, you know those sneaky Russians – simply strains credulity to the breaking point. (After all, if anyone needed to be spied on to prevent Russian collusion during the campaign it was Hillary, considering her shady uranium peddling.)
 
For the sake of the Republic let’s just hope the damage they’ve done to the integrity of our intelligence agencies can one day be restored.
