How did America go from a nation inarguably founded and grounded in Christian principles, to one in which a significant portion of the media is openly hostile to the faith? ~ Rage at Rubio’s Bible Tweets: More Evidence of Troubling Bias Against Christians ~

… Jennifer Rubin of The Washington Post, and a number of other journalists, have apparently taken Gob Bluth (who heckled a harmless student from India, with “Go home, you terrorist!”) as a role model. They’ve responded with shock and outrage to the following: Yesterday morning Catholic U.S. Senator Marco Rubio posted some phrases from the Bible on Twitter.

 
Variously described as “creepy,” “unsettling” and “terrifying” in a flurry of atheist hyperbole, Catholic Senator Rubio merely tweeted out the scripture readings from Tuesday’s mass. Gasp!

There’s no group that’s easier to get away with hating than one that was once quite powerful, which loses its grip. Think of the fate of noblemen in France after 1789, priests in Russia after 1917, or once-elite Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994.
 
In cases like those, people in the newly powerful group can indulge in open hatred for members of the now-dethroned minority. They can hide it behind past “abuses” (real or imagined). They can target innocent people, whip up resentment, encourage discrimination, even get the government to persecute helpless people — whose crime is that they belong to the group that fell from power.

 
It’s easy to mock the over-reactive, outrageous Left. But this rabid intolerance should concern every American Christian; it doesn’t bode well for the future.

Unesco still living in a parallel universe

UNESCO, the UN agency that pretends to promote peace, social justice, human rights and international security through international cooperation on educational, science and cultural programs, will continue to deny reality as long as the rest of the world allows them to indulge their anti-Semitic fantasy. Earlier this month, in an insulting move deliberately timed to coincide with Israel’s Independence Day on May 2nd, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization denied the Jewish State’s rights on its ancient capital ~

The Steering Committee of UNESCO voted Tuesday to adopt an Arab-sponsored resolution that declared null and void “all legislative and administrative measures and actions taken by Israel, the occupying Power, which have altered or purport to alter the character and status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, and in particular the ‘basic law’ on Jerusalem.”

Initially, the Trump Administration renounced the ridiculous UNESCO proclamation ~

The United States was among the only ten countries that voted against the resolution while 22 nations voted in favor and 23 others abstained. […]
 
Laurie Cardoza-Moore, the Special United Nations Envoy for the World Council of Independent Christian Churches, was the only dignitary who condemned UNESCO for issuing what she called “a blatant anti-Semitic statement.”
 

“UNESCO’s vote to deny the Jewish people’s sovereignty over Jerusalem on Israel’s Independence Day is not a coincidence. It is a blatant anti-Semitic statement,” Cardoza-Moore wrote in a statement.
 
“It is also an outrageous attack on millions of Jews and Bible-believing Christians worldwide who recognize that Jerusalem is the eternal capital of Israel and the Jewish people and has been for over 3,000 years,” she added while calling upon “the UN Secretary General to condemn this absurd vote in the highest of terms.”

 
However, just as the president prepares for a visit to Israel, the official position is suddenly annoyingly vague – as evidenced by this White House briefing on Tuesday

National Security Adviser General H.R. McMaster declined to answer whether President Donald Trump considered the Western Wall in Jerusalem part of Israel. “That sounds like a policy decision,” he said, laughing.

 
Ha-ha. Sorry General, the humor eludes me.
Trump wasn’t very ambiguous on the campaign trail when he promised to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Now it looks like he’s shamefully reneging on yet another campaign promise…

Profits take a backseat to progressive propaganda

I’m not much of a television viewer; so few shows are worth bothering with anymore. The “news” is either depressing, one-sided or downright phony. And what passes for “entertainment” these days is even worse.
 
Other than reruns of oldies, I’ll admit there are a handful of current series that aren’t horrible; NCIS (all three versions), Bull, Elementary, some of the History Channel stuff… at least if there’s nothing better to do, and I have to file my nails, or fold laundry.
 
My sporadic viewing habit explains why I hadn’t seen – or even heard of – Tim Allen’s latest sit-com, Last Man Standing, until news of its cancellation popped up this week ~ Despite High Ratings, ABC Cancels Trump-Friendly Sitcom ‘Last Man Standing.’

Although it may not have been my cup of tea, the show apparently has a decidedly conservative slant – at least compared to the rest of the crap on TV – and many on the right are calling B.S. on the ABC’s decision to axe it. Here’s John Nolte at The Daily Signal, first explaining what a money-maker the show has been ~

Even though it had been dumped on Friday nights, the Tim Allen sitcom Last Man Standing enjoyed ratings that Deadline describes as “very respectable for any night and especially Friday[.]” Every week, the half-hour comedy, one of the very few aimed to appeal to America’s heartland, won its time-slot in the all-important demo, including 6.4 million overall same-day viewers […]

The real money in the sitcom business comes from syndication rights, selling the reruns on a per episode basis to other networks. Last Man Standing is not only a syndication smash, a virtual cash cow, per Deadline it is the “rare off-network ratings success story these days.”

 
So why in the world would ABC ditch the show? Nolte’s theory is as good as any ~

The real reason ABC canceled “Last Man Standing” was almost certainly due to politics. Allen’s character is, as described by Deadline, a …

… political conservative and devout Christian adhering to traditional American values, the blue-collar comedy appeals to viewers in the Heartland, a constituency that helped elect Donald Trump as president and has been energized post-election as evidenced by the ratings success of new USA drama Shooter.

 
Through his character, the politically conservative Allen has poked fun at Hillary Clinton, political correctness, and the Left at large. Worse still, he has created a popular, sympathetic and likable television personality who holds the beliefs and values our entertainment and media elites want to tell us can only belong to Nazis.

 
Ultimately? The power-brokers in Hollywood are just plain evil. Promoting their leftist, anti-God ideology is even more important to them than pursuing the almighty dollar ~

No one better understands the power of popular culture than those who work in it. They know that if even one is allowed to get through, a Path to 9/11, a Last Man Standing, a Duck Dynasty, a Passion of the Christ, a 13 Hours, a Fox News, that it must be crushed, toxified, or memory-holed out of the fear that those brainwashed by popular culture might discover another side to the story. And then there is the intolerable risk that a success might breed more of them.
 
No matter the financial cost, this cannot be allowed.

If you’re so inclined, here’s an online petition that a staunch Last Man Standing fan started to urge ABC not to cancel ~

Last Man Standing is one of the only shows on broadcast television, and the only sitcom, that is not constantly shoving liberal ideals down the throats of the viewers. And sadly, that is likely the real reason the show has been cancelled.
 
The intent of this petition/boycott is to attempt to get ABC to renew the show. With that in mind, I will no longer be watching any ABC shows. I have cancelled the DVR settings for the other ABC shows that I regularly watch. If you want to help try to save Last Man Standing, I encourage you to do the same. Even if you are not willing to boycott the network, but still want to save the show, please sign this petition and share it. If you do plan to boycott ABC, please say so when you sign. Let them hear our voices.

The silly season of commencement speakers is here again and Republicans need not apply, as Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos discovered last Wednesday ~

Betsy DeVos was heavily booed while she was delivering a commencement address on Wednesday at Bethune-Cookman University, a historically black college in Florida.
 
Students jeered DeVos and turned their backs to her, BuzzFeed reports.

 

Obviously the students learned nothing about respectful dissent in a civil society during their four years of study. Nor, apparently, do they support school choice ~

As DeVos met further opposition, she urged the crowd to see reason, stressing that education works best when people with opposing views converse with one another. “Let’s choose to hear one another out,” she said.

 
Maybe they just don’t like white women ~

One student was escorted out to cheers after giving a “black power symbol.”

Unlike his progressive predecessor (beloved at reality-free, anti-American universities across the land) Donald Trump hasn’t exactly been in high demand for commencement addresses, although he was welcomed warmly at the college that officially endorsed his candidacy last year, Liberty University ~

This was Trump’s first commencement address as President. For generations now, the tradition has been for a new President to deliver his first commencement at Notre Dame.* But once again Trump bucked tradition, choosing instead to speak at the large evangelical university in Lynchburg, Va.

 
Also unlike his predecessor, Trump seems to understand and appreciate what made America great, and he doesn’t mock “bitter clingers” ~

“America has always been the land of dreams because America is a nation of true believers. When the pilgrims landed at Plymouth they prayed. When the founders wrote the Declaration of Independence, they invoked our creator four times, because in America we don’t worship government we worship God. That is why our elected officials put their hands on the Bible and say, ‘So help me God,’ as they take the oath of office. It is why our currency proudly declares, ‘In God we trust,’ and it’s why we proudly proclaim that we are one nation under God every time we say the pledge of allegiance.
 
“America is better off when people put their faith in action,” he said, urging students to carry out their Christian work whether in ministry or business.
 
“As long as you remember what you learned here at Liberty, as long as you have pride in your beliefs, courage in your convictions and faith in your God, you will not fail.”

God’s TRUTH isn’t always warm and fuzzy

Dr. Michael Brown is applauding an insightful article from a surprising source – secular rapper Kendrick Lamar – which criticizes today’s churches for their sugar-coated approach to scripture. Lamar, apparently an infrequent visitor to church since his childhood, was unpleasantly surprised to find worship services still unfulfilling ~

Perhaps in an attempt to fill their pews, these days far too many Christian churches neglect to mention the other side of God’s nature; omnipotent, infallible, righteous – and wrathful when necessary (see the Old Testament); He’s the Creator and ultimate judge of the entire universe. Maybe they’re afraid that the full story of the gospel might somehow be offensive. But by watering down the true message: we are all miserable, fallen sinners who justly deserve the sovereign wrath of God, we actually devalue the world-shaking significance of God’s awesome, redemptive love as manifested in His son Jesus Christ.

As a community, we was taught to pray for our mishaps, and he’ll forgive you. Yes, this is true. But he will also reprimand us as well. As a child, I can’t recall hearing this in service. Maybe leaders of the church knew it will run off churchgoers? No one wants to hear about karma from the decisions they make. It’s a hard truth. We want to hear about hope, salvation, and redemption. Though his son died for our sins, our free will to make whatever choice we want, still allows him to judge us.

 
Rap theology? Who knew? The thing is, there’s more honest truth in what Kendrick Lamar says than you’ll hear in most churches today.

Oz judge determines criminality is now culturally relative

we learn that an Australian court has decided sexual attacks are
all relative – when it comes to a certain “religion-of-peace” ~

Equality under the law was one of America’s central founding tenets. Prince or pauper, male or female, Baptist or Buddhist – all are (theoretically at least) held to the same standards of accountability and consequences. I always assumed Australia had a similar approach to legal justice – but no longer. Apparently they now go in for the Krupke defense (see West Side Story) ~

 

(Muslim) Teenager avoids jail for sex attacks due to ‘cultural differences’

A teenager who immigrated to Australia from Afghanistan has escaped jail after a series of sex attacks because he grew up in a different culture.
 
The court heard the teenager, who cannot be named, pleaded guilty to assaulting eight women and girls on a Surfers Paradise beach in January 2016.
 
The judge accepted that seeing girls in bikinis is different to the environment in which he grew up.
 
The teen, who lives in Victoria, is now on two years probation with no conviction.

 
If Australian (western) culture is no longer the standard for Australian laws, presumably “honor killings” will now be considered misdemeanors and those responsible for them sentenced to 20 hours of community service.
