Is the representative organization for American Catholic bishops now opposed to the Rule of Law? That’s certainly what their recent actions seem to imply…
United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) Pushes for Amnesty, Urges Dept. of Homeland Security to Ease Deportations ~
In a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson on March 26, the bishops wrote that immigration reform… is a “top priority” of the USCCB.
“We believe that legislation which provides a path to citizenship for as many as possible for the deserving members of the current undocumented population living in the United States would protect the integrity of immigration families and communities and serve the security, social, and economic interests of the United States,” the bishops wrote.
What is it with these squishy “social justice” Lefties? Why do they take the side of lawbreakers over law-abiding Americans who work hard, pay ever-increasing taxes, and don’t break any laws?!
They speak of solving a “moral crisis.” Isn’t breaking our immigration laws an immoral act to begin with? Just how are these undocumented lawbreakers more deserving than those who have waited in line, following the rules, for years?
And what about U.S. sovereignty? Don’t we have a right to say who becomes a citizen and who doesn’t? Mexico sure does!
Our southern neighbor has a single, streamlined law that ensures that foreign visitors and immigrants are:
• in the country legally;
• have the means to sustain themselves economically;
• not destined to be burdens on society;
• of economic and social benefit to society;
• of good character and have no criminal records; and
• contributors to the general well-being of the nation.
Furthermore:
• Mexican immigration authorities have a record of each foreign visitor;
• foreign visitors are banned from interfering in the country’s internal politics;
• foreign visitors who enter under false pretenses are imprisoned or deported;
• foreign visitors violating the terms of their entry are imprisoned or deported;
• those who aid in illegal immigration will be sent to prison.

The USCCB also wrote that “the record number of deportations separating families is a moral crisis which must be addressed” and that comprehensive immigration reform presents “the most enduring solution to our broken system.”
First of all guys, please get your facts right; the “record number of deportations” is actually a record low ~
Although the Obama administration claims deportations have hit an all-time high, they’ve actually hit record lows, covered-up by a shell game of phony numbers, said Jessica Vaughan, the Center for Immigration Studies‘ director of Policy Studies.
The true number of deportations in 2013 was 135,000, the lowest since 1973 — only one third of the 400,000 that is often claimed.

…the Obama administration released 35 percent—or 68,000—convicted criminal aliens back into the U.S. general population when they could have been deported.
Perhaps the bishops should listen to a congressman who actually respects our sovereignty ~ Sen. Jeff Sessions Rips ‘Weakening’ Enforcement of Immigration Laws, Warns of ‘Open Invitation’ to Violators ~
“The preponderance of the evidence demonstrates that immigration enforcement in America has collapsed,” Sessions said. “Even those with criminal convictions are being released. DHS is a department in crisis. Secretary [Jeh] Johnson must reject the President’s demands to weaken enforcement further and tell him that his duty, and his officers’ duty, is to enforce the law – not break it. As Homeland Secretary, Mr. Johnson is tasked with ensuring the public safety and the rule of law. But Secretary Johnson is not meeting these duties.”

In the meantime, haplessly ignoring reality, the bishops felt compelled to hold a mass on the U.S.-Mexico border in Nogales, AZ. ~
“The purpose of this journey here to Arizona is to raise a consciousness about the need for our president and Congress to pass immigration policy and reform to address a broken system,” said Bishop Gerald Kicanas of the Tucson Diocese. “We’re also here to pray for those who have lost their lives* along the border.”

On her radio show yesterday, Laura Ingraham talked about this event, wondered about the bishops’ motivation and offered some advice – don’t think “immigration reform” is going to net a bunch of new parishioners. According to Ingraham, statistics show that a significant number of Mexican nationals dump their Catholic faith at the border.
Which of course only makes sense. Who needs God when the U.S. government is your new sugar daddy?

Since the lawless oligarchy in Washington D.C. is ignoring our immigration laws anyway, perhaps next week the USCCB can hold a memorial mass for the Rule of Law.
The movie packs a lot of apologetics into just under two hours. Some may leave with more questions than they had going in. But that’s a good thing if it gets viewers looking for more; searching for answers. Because for sincere seekers, God’s transcendent Truth is always available.
