Halleluiah! Looks like Colorado’s persecution of Jack Phillips may finally be over

You’ll remember the ongoing saga of Jack Phillips and his Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado…

Astonishingly, the minute he won his Supreme Court case last summer – an affirmation of his right to not to be forced to bake a cake for a homosexual wedding – Jack was slapped with another phony discrimination lawsuit. This time, his harassers wanted a cake celebrating a gender transition.

Well – praise God – it appears that the progressive onslaught against Masterpiece has finally been thwarted. Phillip’s legal team at Alliance Defending Freedom just announced a Victory for Jack Phillips as overwhelming evidence of govt hostility emerges ~

DENVER – The Colorado Civil Rights Commission announced Tuesday that it will dismiss its most recent charges against cake artist Jack Phillips in the wake of newly discovered evidence of the state’s ongoing hostility toward religious freedom. Alliance Defending Freedom attorneys filed a federal lawsuit, Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Elenis, on behalf of Phillips after the state began to prosecute him even after the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission.

“The state of Colorado is dismissing its case against Jack, stopping its six and a half years of hostility toward him for his beliefs,” said ADF Senior Vice President of U.S. Legal Division Kristen Waggoner, who argued on behalf of Phillips at the U.S. Supreme Court. “Jack’s victory is great news for everyone. Tolerance and respect for good-faith differences of opinion are essential in a diverse society like ours. They enable us to peacefully coexist with each another. But the state’s demonstrated and ongoing hostility toward Jack because of his beliefs is undeniable.”

The truth behind this whole travesty is that it’s the Colorado Civil Rights Commission itself that’s intolerant – of any worldview but their leftist (anti-Christian) one. The state rightly recognized that this case had always been about that blatant bias ~

• One commissioner actually called Phillips a “hater” on Twitter

• In 2015, then-commissioner Diann Rice basically compared Jack to a Nazi ~ “I would also like to reiterate what we said in…the last meeting [concerning Jack Phillips]. Freedom of religion and religion has been used to justify all kinds of discrimination throughout history, whether it be slavery, whether it be the Holocaust… I mean, we can list hundreds of situations where freedom of religion has been used to justify discrimination. And to me it is one of the most despicable pieces of rhetoric that people can use – to use their religion to hurt others.”

• At least two other commissioners publicly supported those troubling comments

ADF senior V.P. Kristen Waggoner concluded with these remarks ~

“We’re pleased that the state will be dismissing its case against Jack. This is the second time the state has launched a failed effort to prosecute him. While it finally appears to be getting the message that its anti-religious hostility has no place in our country, the state’s decision to target Jack has cost him more than six-and-a-half years of his life, forcing him to spend that time tied up in legal proceedings.”

Hopefully now, Jack can at last return to what he loves, creating beautiful baked goods for the community of Lakewood, Colorado.
