“The United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy”

Take that UN flunkies! Wasn’t it great to see the U.S. finally stand-up to the anti-Semitic bullies at the U.N. yesterday?

nikkiHaley2Ahead of the final UN vote condemning US recognition of Jerusalem as the Israeli capital, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley was unequivocal in her condemnation of the organization’s thuggish behavior ~

Nikki Haley: The US is ‘taking names’ on Jerusalem resolution ~
“At the UN, we’re constantly asked to do more and give more — in the past we have. So, when we make a decision, at the will of the American people, about where to locate OUR embassy, we don’t expect those we’ve helped to target us,” Haley wrote on Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday evening. “On Thursday, there will be a vote at the UN criticizing our choice. And yes, the US will be taking names.”

Here are the names. The final vote was 128-9, with 35 abstentions. In addition to the United States and Israel, these seven countries voted against the resolution: Guatemala, Honduras, Marshall Islands, Palau, Micronesia, Nauru and Togo.

Canada Free Press explained why this UN action was such a travesty ~

Major European allies, including Britain, France, and Germany, shamefully voted for the resolution. In doing so, they exposed their latent centuries-old anti-Semitism by singling out the Jewish state for special condemnation. Other allies, such as Canada and Australia, at least had the decency to abstain.

UN General Assembly resolutions purporting to buttress the Palestinians’ position are entirely non-binding. They have no more legal impact than the vacuous speeches that have accompanied their passage. The latest resolution passed by the UN General Assembly forum, whose members include many free-riding authoritarian regimes, was a farcical attempt to censure the most powerful democracy in the world, and the UN’s largest contributor by far, for exercising its national sovereign rights.

The resolution was pretty much a pack of prevarication from beginning to end as Aaron Klein points out ~

• It wrongly implies that Israel’s ties to Jerusalem come from “the acquisition of territory by force.”
• It misleadingly implies Trump’s Jerusalem recognition interferes with final-status negotiations.
• It seems to be telling the U.S. where it should locate its embassy.
• It ignores illegal Palestinian construction that has already altered the status of Jerusalem while implying that Trump’s Jerusalem recognition alters the city’s status.
• It ignores the U.N.’s own binding resolution. which allows for Israel to retain some of the so-called pre-1967 territories.
• The text outrageously calls for a “just and lasting peace in the Middle East” partly based on the so-called Arab Peace Initiative, which actually threatens Israel.

The Palestinians and other perpetually-offended Arab states may not be happy with Ambassador Haley’s admonitions ~

“The United States had the courage and honesty to recognize a fundamental reality. Jerusalem has been the political, cultural, and spiritual homeland of the Jewish people for thousands of years. They have had no other capital city. But the United States’ recognition of the obvious – that Jerusalem is the capital and seat of the modern Israeli government – is too much for some.”

“Unlike in some UN member countries, the United States government is answerable to its people,” she said. Ambassador Haley added that “the President’s decision reflects the will of the American people and our right as a nation to choose the location of our embassy. No vote in the United Nations will make any difference on that.”

Ambassador Haley also warned that Americans will need to re-evaluate the current level of generous contributions the United States makes to the UN and how they will now choose to regard those “countries who disrespect us in the UN.”

But Israel is :) ~

Time after time the United Nations has overlooked atrocities committed by other countries, while continually singling out Israel – the most democratic, tolerant nation in the Middle East – for condemnation. Yesterday, the U.S. finally let them know we were tired of their anti-Semitic antics.
