Swedish Christians find a unique way to share the Good News with ISIS

First of all, it’s great to learn that there are still churches in Sweden. I thought the whole country was either secular – or Muslim. But even more encouraging is this (Holy Spirit!) inspired idea: Swedish church to use drones to drop thousands of Bibles in ISIS-controlled Iraq ~

A major evangelical free church in Sweden is preparing to use drones to drop thousands of Bibles into areas of Iraq controlled by Islamic State.

 The Livets Ord (Word of Life) church in Uppsala in the north of Sweden has said it will use drones flying at high altitude to release thousands of small, electronic Bibles into Iraq.

 
“The Bibles are the size of pill boxes and have a display. They require no electricity, but work on their own,” the church’s mission director Christian Åkerhielm told Swedish broadcaster SVT, according to the newspaper The Local.

 
“Our ambition is to pass on the hope and love of the Christian gospel to a population living in closed areas where they are being denied human rights,” the Livets Ord said on its Swedish homepage.

 

While Islam spreads by the sword; Christianity spreads by the Word. May the Good News of our Redeemer reach the hearts of thousands of Muslims through this unique outreach.

Media Fails To Report Gang Firebombing Paris Bus While Yelling ‘Allah Akbar’ [VIDEO]

American media has been noticeably silent about the Molotov cocktail firebombing of a bus in Paris last week by a large gang which yelled ‘Allah Akbar.’
 
The attack happened just after midnight on July 28 in the Paris neighborhood of Saint-Denis. Video shows a roadblock stopping the bus in the street and then a group of young males proceeding to throw Molotov cocktails into the city bus. The bus bursts into flames and burns down into a metal hull.

While thankfully no one was killed, that fact made it easier to bury the story.

UN Backs Secret Obama Takeover of Police ~ Takeover? What takeover? Oh, the one the network news is totally ignoring? ~

Here’s how it works: the Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice files a lawsuit in federal court against a city, county, or state, alleging constitutional and civil rights violations by the police or at a corrections facility. It is done under 42 U.S.C. § 14141, a section of the 1994 Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, granting the attorney general the power to prosecute law enforcement misconduct. The municipality then simply agrees to the judicial finding — without contest — and the result is a wide-reaching federal court order that imposes onerous regulations on local police.

 
The federal court orders are designed to undo Rudy Giuliani-style policing tactics that were effective at reducing crime in big cities in the 1990s and 2000s.

Before Rosa Parks, there was Ida B. Wells

Who? I sure didn’t recall hearing about Ida B. Wells – in history class or anywhere else – until I saw Dinesh D’Souza’s latest documentary: “Hillary’s America.”
 
We know that when the Left isn’t flat out rewriting history they’re very selective about what they choose to mention from America’s past. Everything must be be forced through their racist-sexist-bigot-homophobe sausage-maker to churn out their progressive tripe. All the good stuff gets chucked out. Ida B. Wells doesn’t usually make the cut; she was a Republican (oh, and a Christian too).

The truth is, the Republican party was founded in 1854 – to oppose slavery. And Ida B. Wells, born into slavery, later a teacher, journalist and fearless civil rights advocate was a member of that party ~

Editor and partial owner of her own newspaper, she published articles on topics considered controversial at the time. One of her main causes was fighting the practice of lynching, which she regarded as a horrific form of racial prejudice that no decent human being could ignore or justify.
 
For years, the vicious practice of lynching had been widely used — especially in the South after the Civil War — as a means of punishing alleged criminals, although two-thirds of the victims were African American. The word “lynching” dates back to the late 1700s, when a frontier judge named Charles Lynch became known for dispensing with jury trials in favor of speedy hangings. These came to be known as “lynchings,” and they later evolved into acts of mob violence in which someone was put to death, usually by hanging.
 
Wells waged her war against it in the press as well as on the podium, earning a reputation for fearlessness and determination despite numerous efforts to intimidate her, including death threats.

The unique parallel with Rosa Parks’ life is an event that occurred in 1884 while Wells was traveling to classes at Fisk University in Nashville. She had purchased a first-class ticket, but when she boarded the train…

… the conductor told her to move back to the smoking car. Wells refused and bit him when he tried to force her from her seat. With the assistance of the baggageman, the conductor then ushered her out of the car to the cheers of many passengers. At the next stop, Wells got off the train and made the return trip to Memphis, where she filed suit against the railway company.

Greedy Obama grabbing more Utah land

Apparently it’s not enough that the feds already own over 65% of the land in Utah, now President Obama has his sights set on an additional two million acres.

With a stroke of his infamous pen, under cover of the Antiquities Act of 1906, it seems the president can just unilaterally “take” land to create a new National Monument on 1.9 million acres of wilderness in San Juan County (southeastern Utah). The area under consideration would be bigger than Yosemite National Park by 700,000 acres. Heck, it would be bigger than the state of Rhode Island! ~

Potentially covering 1.9 million acres, the Bears Ears National Monument would encompass 40 percent of San Juan County. Opponents of the potential monument designation call it a federal “land grab” that would greatly restrict access and use of area.

 
As a petition opposing the autocratic action states ~

This monument will take all control and input about the land from the locals, who use it everyday, and give it to the federal government. It will put families out of work, increase access and therefore desecration of ancient and sacred ruins, it will also restrict and prohibit gathering of food, hunting, and cutting wood.

 
Seriously, what are we – the USSR? Our founders certainly never intended that massive amounts of land would be owned and controlled by a federal leviathan. Had they envisioned this travesty, they never would have ratified the Constitution – which enshrines private property ownership, and states rights – as this map starkly illustrates:

In the original 13 colonies on the east coast, federal land ownership is minimal. But as settlers moved further and further west the government’s appetite for more control became practically insatiable. How much is enough?!

 
The usual lying, leftist, earth huggers are trying to convince Native Americans that this move is in their best interest. Having been deceived one too many times by Washington D.C. over the decades, many of them aren’t buying it ~

San Juan County Commissioner Rebecca Benally, who claims Navajo heritage, said she believes special interest groups are pressuring and harassing Native Americans into supporting the monument designation.

Utah’s governor and most of his fellow Republicans oppose the monument; Gov. calls pro-Bears Ears monument proposal ‘a political tomahawk’ ~

Gov. Gary Herbert on Wednesday (July 27th) derided a multitribe proposal for a national monument as “a political tomahawk” that will do more to foment conflict than to protect the Bears Ears region considered sacred by Native Americans.
 
In his remarks at a Senate field hearing in Blanding, he said these mesas and canyons in San Juan County should be protected, but by congressional action, not through the stroke of a president’s pen.
 
“It is my belief that a unilateral monument designation will divide the people. It will create anger and division. It will provoke protest and may inhibit our ability to resolve tough public land management decisions for decades to come.,” Herbert told the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

 
Utah’s Sen. Mike Lee hosted a hearing on the monument proposal at San Juan High School last Wednesday (July 27th). Retired educator, and Native American, Lewis Singer had this to say ~

“National monument status will restrict access to the land, require payment of entrance fees, and may restrict or prohibit traditional activities such as hunting, gathering wood, picking pine nuts, acquiring medicinal herbs, and performing ceremonies on the land,” Singer told Lee. He pointed to the Navajos’ negative experience following the designation of the Wupatki and Canyon de Chelly monuments.
 
“The Navajo people have given up enough of their tribal lands for national monuments,” he said. “How can we as a native people trust the United States Government when they provide reservations and then come back and claim them as national monuments?”

 
Yes the land in question is beautiful – but the whole darn country is beautiful. Does that give the feds the right to own it all? Under the guise of protecting it – from the we-the-people? These decisions should be made locally – as the Constitution, and the founders, intended.

Dads aren’t dispensable

If we seek to establish healthy societies, God’s perfect prescription for human relationships is still the best one to follow, even for we imperfect humans. Or rather, especially for we imperfect humans. Our pathetic attempts to rearrange things, based on our own selfish desires, start out merely muddled, grow increasingly disordered, and end in social meltdown; chaos.
 

daddy&kidContemporary Western societies seem to believe traditional families really aren’t important any more. Single parents, two moms, two dads, whatever. Dads in particular seem to be dispensable…
 
Yet it’s plainly not working. Witness the result of the breakdown of the black family in our cities; the frustration and violence associated with the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

 
In his recent article at MercatorNet, Mathew Otieno describes the same troubling phenomenon in Africa ~ In Kenya and America, absent dads linked with crime ~

Increasing numbers of children in Kiambu — and central Kenya in general — grow up in families without fathers. Surnames are becoming feminine where before they came from the father’s side of the family.
 
The cause of these changes has been hidden in the folds of a contentious debate, made more sensitive by its tribal aspect – most of the affected are members of the Kikuyu tribe.
 
But the impact is certainly not hidden. According to a Kenya Police Service report, in 2014 Kiambu had the third highest crime rate of all counties in Kenya. Many cases go unreported, so this number just scratches the surface. Three other counties in central Kenya were among the top six in terms of crime prevalence per capita.

Most of these crimes are committed by young males, precisely the kind that would be less likely to commit crimes if they had their fathers around. Their offences range from simple snatching to highway carjacking. Kenyan prisons are teeming with young men from central Kenya.
 
This phenomenon has given rise to a vicious cycle. As more and more men grow up without their fathers and develop deviant behaviours, the less odds they have of getting married and settling down; and as more and more girls grow up in broken families, the more likely they are to have children outside of a stable marital framework.

 
Referring to the current racial tensions in the U.S., the angry, disaffected youth of #BlackLivesMatter, Otieno gets to the heart of the cross-cultural issue ~

The cause is not the colour of their skin; it is the breakdown of their families. Abortion, divorce and single-parenthood have disenfranchised the black community of many rights won for it by the civil rights movement.
 
And while people go to the streets to protest shootings, more and more children shape up to be criminals, increasing their risk of being shot – either by someone from their own community or by a panicking cop. The police may change their methods, but they cannot tackle family breakdown alone.

 

Traditional families – one mother, one father and their offspring – are the crucial building blocks of a stable functioning civilization. If we want ours back, that’s where we need to start.

Venezuela, the next North Korea?

As we who have been paying attention to life beyond our national election circus, Facebook and Pokemon Go know, Venezuela has been slowly imploding for the last couple of years. I’ve posted about it HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.
 
But there’s barely been a peep from the mainstream media. Guess they don’t want the sheeple to get a good hard look at socialism-on-steroids. It’s not a pretty sight ~

• the highest inflation in the world (it takes an average worker a year and a half to earn enough food for a month!)
• a crisis in medical care
• toilet paper shortages
• food lines with 12 hour waits – disrupted by the occasional riot
• no choice in what and when you eat
• restricted areas – journalists and reporters aren’t allowed access (wouldn’t want the really ugly truth to get out)
• hopelessness and despair

 
It gets worse. Just last Thursday (July28th): Venezuela’s socialist government adopted a forced labor law ~

President Nicolás Maduro signed a decree at the end of last week that gives powers to the labor ministry to order “all workers from the public and private sector with enough physical capabilities and technical know-how” to join a government drive aimed at increasing food production.
 
They can be required to work in the agricultural sector for a 60-day period that can be extended for another 60 days “if the circumstances require it.”

Sounds like Maduro’s well on his way to turning his country into the next North Korea!

(S)ocialism has been a disaster for Venezuela. The latest attempt at central economic planning is reminiscent of the Soviet Unions five year plans in the 1920s and 1930s. The difference here is that Venezuela is working on 60-day plans because, with inflation already in the triple-digits, it’s hard to imagine how the country could continue for another five years unless something changes.
 
One survey found that about half of Venezuelans can no longer afford to eat 3 meals a day. Dumpster diving for food, food riots and cross-border grocery shopping have become facts of life in the country. Today the BBC published a story explaining just how dire the hunger situation in Venezuela has become:

Marlene Sifontes, a union leader for employees of state parks agency Inparques which oversees zoos, told Reuters that the zoo lost Vietnamese pigs, tapirs, rabbits and birds after the animals went weeks without eating. Others animals at the zoo are in danger of severe malnutrition. Lions and tigers, which should be on a carnivorous diet, are being fed mango and pumpkin just to get something in their empty stomachs, while an elephant is being fed tropical fruit instead of its usual diet of hay, the union leader said. According to one report, the big cats are being fed slaughtered thoroughbred racehorses from a nearby race track […]
 
The situation is very grim for the humans in Venezuela, so it’s no wonder that animals are not being properly cared for. The situation is even worse for animals outside the capital […]

 
(T)he people of Venezuela regularly go without food and many have begun hunting dogs cats, and pigeons so they can feed their families. And last week prosecutors say someone broke into the Caracas zoo and stole a horse that they later butchered for food.

 

Maybe this tragedy will finally get the attention of the network news folks and inspire them to report on Maduro’s utopia. After all, lefties do tend to care more about animals than their fellow human beings.
 
On the other hand, perhaps they’ll get around to it after the election. Wouldn’t want the sheeple to get the wrong idea about socialism before then.

Get your degree from “Hamburger U.”

Rather than preparing young people to be well-adjusted, productive members of society, today’s colleges seem obsessed with creating a comfortable cocoon environment for their students, protecting them from the harsh realities of the real world. They’re inhibiting growth – not encouraging and facilitating it.
 
If you’d rather become a responsible, fully-functioning adult, save your time and money and get a fast food job for a while ~

How many more innocents will France sacrifice to the barbaric “Religion-of-Peace” ?

Last Tuesday (July 26th) a pair of ISIS knifemen stormed a church in Normandy slitting the throat of Father Jacques Hamel an elderly Catholic priest; a nun was critically injured as well.

Why is it that while all Muslims aren’t terrorists, all terrorists are Muslim? And why can’t they seem to COEXIST with Europeans – especially lately, with the French?

 
Let’s see… on January 7th, 2015 Islamic terrorists attacked the publishing offices of “Charlie Hebdo” in Paris leaving 12 innocent people dead.

 
Last November – also in Paris – the murderous death-cult struck again, this time at the Bataclan concert hall, leaving 130 dead; over 300 more injured. Some of the victims, as we’ve recently learned, were horribly tortured before they died.
 

Then just weeks ago in Nice, a lone Muslim lunatic mowed through Bastille Day crowds in a truck, killing 84 and injuring over 200 others.

 

And in between these larger headlines, on June 13th, was this tragedy: Murderer of French Police Commander & Wife Swore Allegiance to ISIS Just Like Orlando Shooter ~

(A) man shouting “Islamic slogans” brutally stabbed a French police commandant to death on his own doorstep before forcing his way into the home and taking the family hostage. The attacker was killed by police when they stormed the house. Inside they found the police officer’s wife also murdered. Their three year old son survived.

 

Yet despite all these dead and broken bodies – and now this most recent atrocity in Normandy – you can bet the French will continue to cower-in-place like lambs to the slaughter. Especially when their spineless leaders speak like jellyfish ~

The archbishop of Paris, Cardinal Andre Vingt-Trois, called on Catholics to “overcome hatred that comes in their heart” and not to “enter the game” of the Islamic State group that “wants to set children of the same family upon each other.”

Huh? Are you kidding me?!

 
It’s almost surreal. As Guy Millière writes at the Gatestone Institute ~ France: After the Third Jihadist Attack ~

Those who tried to speak of jihad were promptly reduced to silence. Not even a year later, in November, the Bataclan Theater bloodbath did not lead to protests, but was a deeper shock. The mainstream media and the government could no longer hide that it was an act of jihad. The number killed was too overwhelming; one could not just turn the page. The mainstream media and the government did their best to downplay anger and frustration and to emphasize sadness. Solemn ceremonies with flowers and candles were everywhere. A “state of emergency” was declared and soldiers were sent into the streets.
 
But then the feeling of danger faded. The Euro 2016 soccer championship was organized in France, and the French team’s good performance created a false sense of unity.

 

In fact, earlier on the very same day of the Nice massacre, President Hollande announced that France’s state of emergency (imposed after the Bataclan tragedy) would be lifted. Oops.
 

The French are angry, frightened, increasingly intimidated. Something must be done to stop the terrorism but their feckless leaders continue to pretend they don’t even understand the cause.
 

On the other hand, as Millière goes on ~

Islamists view the landscape and do not dislike what they see.
 
On their websites, they often quote a line from Osama bin Laden: “When people see a strong horse and a weak horse, they will naturally want to side with the strong horse.”
 
They appear to think that France is a weak horse and that radical Islam can bring France to its knees in a pile of dust and rubble. Time, they seem to think, is on their side as well — and demography. Muslims now make up about 10% of the French population; 25% of teenagers in France are Muslims.
 
The number of French Muslims who want Islamic sharia law applied in France increases year after year, as does the number of French Muslims who approve of violent jihad. More and more French people despise Islam, but are filled with fear. Even the politicians who seem ready to fight do not take on Islam.

 

As long as France’s leadership remains immobilized by denial, innocents will continue to be butchered by barbarians.

Why “make” when you can “take?”

Unfortunately for the future of America, the old “Protestant Work Ethic,” instilled in so many of us while growing up; do your best, work hard, give your employer an honest day’s effort, is mostly a thing of the past (- must have been racist or something). It’s likely that anyone under 35 has never even heard the term. Which pretty much explains this phenomenon ➡ Unemployed More Likely to Go Shopping Than Look for a Job ~

Unemployed Americans are more likely to shop for things other than food and gas than to look for a new job on an average day, according to data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
 
Only 18 percent of unemployed Americans spent time searching or interviewing for a job on an average day, while 41.1 percent shopped online, in store, or by phone. About one in five unemployed Americans, or 21.2 percent, went shopping for items other than food and gas.
 
Nearly all of the unemployed, or 96.6 percent, socialized, relaxed, or took part in leisure activities, and 83 percent watched television and movies on an average day.

 

Heck yeah! Why help pull the wagon when you can ride on it?

That old work ethic thing, which used to be woven into the fabric of America, came from a now-apparently outdated biblical worldview. Jack Wellman writing in this May, 2014 Patheos blog reminds us of God’s word on the subject ~ Top 7 Bible Verses About Work, Work Ethic or Employment ~

“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.” ~ Prov. 12:11
 
There is no short cut to hard work and having sustenance. Nothing can replace hard work. For those who follow get-rich quick-schemes, these are really “worthless pursuits” that “lacks sense.” Work is its own reward but hard work always pays off, if not in this life, in the life to come.
 
There are so many welfare frauds who are really robbing those who work hard and pay taxes. These people lack bread because they lack the effort of working hard and someday those things done in secret will be exposed openly because “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty” (Prov 14:23).

 
But who has time for that nonsense anymore? Let’s go shopping!
