Even though the country is in serious decline, the average American is still far more decent than the president believes (hopes?) we are. The man can’t be bothered to show up in flood-ravaged Louisiana – although he didn’t wast any time trashing his predecessor for not getting to the gulf coast fast enough in the wake of Katrina – but he can take the time to admonish the locals not to discriminate ~

In a 16-page guidance issued Tuesday, the Obama administration, led by the Justice Department, warned Louisiana recipients of federal disaster assistance against engaging in “unlawful discrimination on the basis of race, color, or national origin (including limited English proficiency).”
 
The guidance’s frameworks “highlight the importance of complying with nondiscrimination requirements of civil rights statutes, addressing the needs of the whole community, and ensuring equal opportunity to access recovery efforts.”

Our founding fathers were all steeped in history, both recent and ancient. In seeking to establish the best possible form of representative government they referred to both the successes and failures of past civilizations.
 
Unfortunately, just as the founders feared, freedom is always one generation away from being lost. For the past few decades the progressives in charge of our government school system have refused to teach factual, unadulterated history. As a result, the majority of the electorate are now ignorant, complacent and compliant; ripe for tyranny.

Right to happiness?

These days secular progressives seem to be forever touting new “rights” that we-the-people have magically acquired – strangely enough – after millennia of human existence. I mean just think of all the great things we’re suddenly entitled to: abortion rights, “fair” wage rights, bathroom rights, freedom from religion rights – oh, and rights to lots of free stuff; food, housing, healthcare, college…
 
In a way this seemingly endless list of privileges began with the unfortunate perversion of one of the unalienable rights named in the Declaration of Independence. “Pursuit” has been deliberately erased from the the phrase “pursuit of happiness,” resulting in a whole lot of self-centered pursuing of consequence-free happiness.

 
Many years ago C.S.Lewis exposed that silly “right to happiness” as the justification for selfish – frequently amoral – behaviors that it really is ~

 

 

Lewis delivered this lecture back in 1963, before the Sexual Revolution really went into overdrive later in that decade. Today’s social wreckage (broken marriages, broken families, broken lives) – the fruits of that revolution – bears witness to his wisdom and prescience.

President Barack Obama emerged from his Martha’s Vineyard vacation for a fundraiser, but he didn’t mention any of the devastating events currently affecting the United States.
 
In Milwaukee, six businesses were set on fire, four officers were injured, shots were fired, and police cars were damaged after a black police officer shot a convicted black criminal who refused to drop a stolen handgun.
 
In Louisiana, flooding has damaged thousands of homes forcing more than 20,000 rescues after some parts of the state have suffered from over 30 inches of rain. The death toll from the floods is currently at seven eleven.
 
“Michelle is very strict about me actually taking a vacation when I get a vacation,” Obama said during his speech at a Martha’s Vineyard fundraiser for Hillary Clinton. “She gave me a special dispensation for this evening because she understands, just as all of you understand, how important this is.”

 
Never mind that your fellow Americans are running from fires and floods, or that our cities are turning into combat zones thanks to the war on police that you helped launch… instead it’s critically important that you help elect a fellow Marxist as your successor to ensure the total destruction of America.
 
Further embracing his delusions…

Obama painted a rosy picture of life under his presidency, specifically citing economic statistics.
“There’s a lot of good news out there,” he said.

OK. If I hear one more Ad Council anti-gun propaganda pitch I’m going to shoot my radio! (Hear that WJR?!)
 
Whiny six-year-old: “Mom, Dad, if you store you guns properly… I’ll feel safer.”
Solemn male voice: “If you own a gun you have a full-time responsibility. Always, lock it up”

 
The patronizing tone of this spot – brought to you (ironically) by the National Crime Prevention Council and the progressive Ad Council – implies that your home is safer without guns than with them.

“I heard on the news, I heard on the news, I heard on the news…;” an annoying chorus of adolescent voices with a litany of made-up tragedies involving a gun. This ad is also admonishing adults to keep the youngsters safe from those nasty guns.
 
Unfortunately these anti-gun organizations and their young brain-washed spokespeople never hear on the news about lives that are saved, the crimes that are foiled, because a responsible citizen was armed and alert. Maybe they should visit sites like the (evil 👿 ) NRA and Gun Watch (You know, the groups that don’t get free air time to counter the gun-control folks).

CHICAGO (CBS) — Four people and their family dog were stabbed early Wednesday, when two masked men broke into their home in north suburban Buffalo Grove.

Police said the homeowner grabbed a handgun during the home invasion, and opened fire, chasing off the suspects.

 

Three or four events like these – where the bad guy loses thanks to a law-abiding citizen with a gun – occur daily across the country. But somehow the troubled youth on the public service commercials never hear these stories on the news…
 
Selective reporting is a favorite “weapon” in the progressives’ anti-gun arsenal. And right now they’re taking aim at the Second Amendment.

Why we need a “Convention of States” (not a “Constitutional Convention”)

eagleonConstThose of us who still believe in the founders’ vision of a Constitutional Republic have been advocating for a much smaller, less intrusive, decentralized federal government for the last several years. It’s painfully obvious that Washington D.C. has forgotten who’s supposed to be in charge. Hint: it ain’t them. (It’s NOT their money!)
 
No matter their size and frequency, Tea Party rallies and protests seemed to be falling on deaf ears. (In fact they angered the tyrants in the Obama administration so much that the IRS went after non-profit conservative organizations advocating for smaller government.) New strategies were needed. Which is where a “Convention of States” comes in ~

The Convention of States (COS) Project was founded by Citizens for Self-Governance for the purpose of stopping the runaway power of the federal government. We believe Washington, D.C., is broken and will not fix itself. The federal government is spending this country into the ground, seizing power from the states and taking liberty from the people.

 

To give credit where it’s due, I’m pretty sure it was Mark Levin who originally proposed this approach with his “Liberty Amendments.” Barely two years later, his book has produced a growing movement.
 
Levin’s approach was to take advantage of a mechanism that the founders had the foresight to build into the Constitution itself; a means for the states to rein in out-of-control executive and legislative branches. Under Article V, if 2/3 of the states can agree on proposed changes they may convene, debate and vote upon them. (The specific issues must be established in advance.) The finalized amendments are then sent to the 50 states for ratification which requires 3/4 of the states.

 
In his book Levin proposes 11 amendments; all aimed at limiting the power of the federal government as originally intended. Perhaps to simplify the process, the Convention of States project has consolidated these into 3 principles ~
 
1. Restraining the federal government on a fiscal basis;
2. Restraining the scope and jurisdiction of the federal gov; and
3. Term limits – including on the judiciary

I’ve had fellow conservatives object to this concept, but primarily because they don’t understand the difference between a “Constitutional Convention,” and a “Convention of States.” Here’s a short video that compares the two methods ~

 

 
So a convention of states is clearly not a free-for-all let’s rewrite the Constitution approach (- the original version is excellent, if we’d actually get back to using it!). Instead it’s a sound, practicable way to wrest back our sovereign rights from the Washington oligarchy ~

We can allow Washington, D.C., to continue abusing the Constitution and the rights of the people with the vague hope that someday Washington will see the light and relinquish power. Or we call a convention of the states, trusting it will behave properly and one of the many lines of defense will stop any misuse of power.

The reports were altered for political purposes to present a rosier, less threatening picture of the terror army to the American people. In other words, the administration wanted to prove ISIS was a “jayvee” team as President Obama claimed in September 2014. […]
 
“After months of investigation, this much is very clear: from the middle of 2014 to the middle of 2015, U.S. Central Command’s most senior intelligence leaders manipulated the command’s intelligence products to downplay the threat from ISIS in Iraq. The result: consumers of those intelligence products were provided a consistently ‘rosy’ view of U.S. operational success against ISIS. Last week the mainstream media were busy circling the wagons and painting Trump as a nut job over his assertion. You can bet they’ll rush with the same unbridled enthusiasm… to bury this latest news.

An EMP – T.E.O.T.W.A.W.K.I?

Breaking local news this evening ~ Explosion and fire at DTE Energy facility in East China Township (MI) ~

EAST CHINA, Mich. (WXYZ) – The Marine City Fire Chief says the facility is the main DTE plant. The plant is on fire and crews are working to put out the flames.

A generation unit at the St Clair Power Plant electrical generation unit has caught fire. Employees were evacuated immediately and safely. At this time, there are no known injuries at the facility. St Clair and Marine City first responders are on site and are working to contain the fire. DTE successfully invoked its emergency plant procedures and shut down all other units at the site.

 

No injuries, thank God, and no hint of terrorism at this point (although these days that possibility is never easily dismissed). But there are already reports of power outages in the surrounding communities. (Update 8-12-16: power supply restored to all affected areas)
 

Unexpected events like this can and certainly should serve as a wake-up call. We could all do with some advance planning for emergencies; our federal government not excepted. But Washington still doesn’t seem particularly concerned about the possibility of an EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse) devastating a large chunk of our national electric grid.
 

While it hasn’t been in the news much in the last few years, the very real potential for an EMP occurence – caused either by an attack or a solar flare – hasn’t gone away. In this video from CBN News Pat Robertson speaks with Dr. Peter Vincent Pry (executive director of the EMP Task Force on National and Homeland Security) about the threat ~

 

 
DHS is supposed to be on top of this but… yeah.
Like I said yesterday, the government that won’t protect us from illegals, terrorists, Zika – or wolves, isn’t going to concern itself much with a little EMP occurrence (no worries for them – they’ve got bunkers). BE PREPARED.

Feds – protecting us from… nothing

From the feckless federal government who brought us Ebola, Zika, illegal aliens, unvetted-immigrants-turned jihadist, we now get this ~ Feds Released Dangerous Wolves Into the Wild.
 
According to a new audit by the inspector general of the Fish and Wildlife Service, agency officials ‘focused on wolf welfare rather than public safety’ ~

An official in charge of the Fish and Wildlife Service’s Mexican Gray Wolf Recovery Program, which was established to conserve the species, was found to be protecting wolves she considered “genetically valuable,” even though they posed a danger to residents in the area […]

 
MexiGrayWolfTeam employees in Catron County “deliberately avoided documenting complaints to protect certain wolves,” the inspector general found.

 
(The former program coordinator) first denied that she gave certain wolves “preferential treatment” despite their danger to the community, but eventually admitted to the inspector general that she “did treat them ‘differently’ from other wolves.”
 
“She said that she gave genetically valuable wolves more care, allowed their nuisance behavior to continue, and provided them more opportunities to breed,” according to the inspector general.
 
Other allegations of misconduct by program officials included not notifying the public when wolves were roaming near their homes and removing cattle carcasses to prevent ranchers from discovering them […]
 
Allegations of misconduct go back to 2000, when a rancher said 36 of his cows and 71 calves were killed by wolves over a 5 year period. The program only reimbursed the rancher for 7 cows and 15 of the calves.

 
Our beneficent ruling class in D.C. is always encouraging more dependency; don’t worry, they’ll take care of us cradle-to-grave, protect us from all our unfortunate lifestyle choices… Funny though, in reality We-the-people don’t always seem to come out on top of the fed’s list of priorities do we?

The righteous courage of Marianna Biernacka

Have you ever wondered what you would do in the face of pure evil? How you would react in a split second, soul-shaking moment of truth? Fear or bravery? Self-preservation – or selflessness?
 
In 1943, Marainna Biernacka, a fifty-five year Polish housewife and mother, didn’t even hesitate. (Matthew Archbold recounts her tale: “I Will Go for Her.” The Amazing Story of A Polish Martyr)

The Nazis invaded Poland in 1939. To understand, the Nazi occupation of Poland is to label it as one of the worst and most brutal genocides in the history of the world. Adolf Hitler himself is reported to have authorized his commanders to kill “without pity or mercy, all men, women, and children of Polish decent or language.”
 
When a German soldier was killed by any resistance, the Gestapo made it a practice to round up a large number of Polish civilians randomly and kill them in retaliation. It was just such an incident that brought the Nazis to the door of Marianna Biernacka.

 
After the death of her husband in 1929, Marianna lived with her son Stanislaw. When Stanislav married Anna Szymczyk the three continued to share a household. They were a devout Christian family ~

Prayer and song were a large part of their lives. Soon after the couple were married, the two had a daughter.
 
Bishop Jerzy Mazur, bishop of Elk, said on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of Marianna’s death that “Staring at her ordinary life, we see that it was imbued with faith, love, prayer, work and suffering. Each day began with prayer and common singing Hours. Everyday life was filled with a difficult job in summer in a field, and in winter, spun flax and hemp and weaving on a loom. Recitation of the Rosary prayer and devotional singing songs allowed the dignity to endure the pain of bereavement, hard work and daily poverty.”

 
No doubt it was Marianna’s stong faith – such a central part of her being – that compelled her to act instinctively, unconcerned with her own welfare, when Hitler’s troops showed up on her doorstep ~

In July of 1943, the Nazis arrested many people in and around the city of Lipsk as retribution for a German killed by the resistance. Randomly, Stanislaw Biernacka, along with his pregnant wife Anna, were selected to be killed. Nobody believed they had anything to do with the resistance but they were to be killed for events outside of their control.
 
When the armed soldiers came to arrest them, Stanislaw’s mother, Marianna, reportedly dropped to her knees and begged the Nazis to take her instead of Anna.

mariannabiernacka“She is already in the last weeks of her pregnancy,” she pleaded. “I will go for her.” Her daughter-in-law begged her not to make this sacrifice but Marianna insisted, reportedly saying “You are young, you must live.” As the Nazis didn’t particularly care who they killed as they were simply filling a quota so they took Marianna and her son instead of the pregnant Anna.
 
The Nazis took Marianna and her son to the prison in Grodno. While in the prison, she only requested a pillow and a rosary. After two weeks in prison in which she spent much of her time praying, Marianna was shot and killed on July 13, 1943 in Naumowicze along with her son. Their bodies were thrown into a common grave.

 

Anna gave birth to a son and named him after his father. Sadly, young Stanislaw didn’t live to see his second birthday ~

Anna’s daughter, Eugenia, still lives in the family home, according to some Polish websites. She said that her mother, Anna, would often say that she had been given life twice. Once by her own mother and then from her mother-in-law.

The French are clearly in a coma when it comes to the harsh realities of Islam. And it doesn’t appear that they’ll wake up until it’s too late and they’ve fully submitted to their Muslim colonizers.
