Let’s commemorate Martin Luther King, Jr. by working to eradicate slavery

Did you know that on December 29, 2017 President Trump declared January 2018 National Slavery and Human Traffic Prevention Month? No of course you didn’t. That’s just the sort of positive news that the mainstreams suppress. Or simply ignore. Anyway, now that the month is half over it’s nice to know…

During National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, we recommit ourselves to eradicating the evil of enslavement. Human trafficking is a modern form of the oldest and most barbaric type of exploitation. It has no place in our world. This month we do not simply reflect on this appalling reality. We also pledge to do all in our power to end the horrific practice of human trafficking that plagues innocent victims around the world.

 

It rarely grabs the attention of the mainstreams, but the vile practice of human enslavement has never gone away; it’s just gone underground. In fact according to this WND article, in Jan. 18, 2010 Time magazine reported: “Despite more than a dozen international conventions banning slavery in the past 150 years, there are more slaves today than at any point in human history.”

And the United States is far from immune. As the Santa Cruz Sentinel reported in November, police in California are calling human trafficking “the new crack cocaine” ~

The FBI has identified the San Francisco Bay Area, including Santa Cruz and Monterey counties, as one of the three highest-intensity child sex trafficking regions in the country […]

 
Deborah Pembrook, who teaches others about the problem through the Coalition to End Human Trafficking in Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties, said trafficking is happening in Santa Cruz County. About 30 percent of the traffickers are women, Pembrook said. Traffickers can be anyone, a trusted family friend to gang members immersed in organized crime. The trafficked may appear to be the criminal, such as a drug dealer. And many trafficking victims are so traumatized by the abnormal lifestyle, they struggle to find a way out and relapse, Pembrook said.
 
Pembrook said, of the 25 forms of human trafficking observed by the Polaris Project, an initiative that defines human trafficking as a form of slavery and a “multibillion dollar criminal industry,” most have been observed in Santa Cruz County. Those include escort services, illicit massage, strip clubs and cantinas, pornography and covert crimes disguised by traveling sales, commercial cleaning services and restaurant work. She said human trafficking has not been observed locally in manufacturing industries or people trafficked from recreational areas.
 
Many victims of human trafficking are branded like animals. Their tattoos, which Pembrook showed on a projector screen, may be phrases stating they belong to someone. Detective Laurel Schonfield, who works human trafficking and other cases, said one of the photos depicting a cheetah tattoo was taken in a case that has linked tips of trafficking from Santa Cruz County to Florida. She said the crimes have no boundaries.

I don’t know what the Left is doing to commemorate MLK Day (greivance-mongering? re-opening old wounds?) but the Trump administration is calling attention to the tragedy of human trafficking and implementing pro-active measures to help put an end to evil practice ~
 

• Pres. Trump signed an Executive Order (February 2017) to dismantle transnational criminal organizations, including those that perpetuate the crime of human trafficking.
• An Interagency Task Force to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons has enhanced collaboration with other nations, businesses, civil society organizations, and survivors of human trafficking.
• The Department of Health and Human Services has established a new national training and technical assistance center to strengthen our healthcare industry’s anti-trafficking response.
• The Department of State has contributed $25 million to the Global Fund to End Modern Slavery, because of the critical need for cross-nation collaborative action to counter human trafficking.
• The Department of Labor has released an innovative, business-focused mobile app that supports private-sector efforts to eradicate forced labor from global supply chains.
• Earlier this month Trump signed into law S. 1536, the Combating Human Trafficking in Commercial Vehicles Act and S. 1532, the No Human Trafficking on Our Roads Act which will ~

… keep those who commit trafficking offenses from operating commercial vehicles, improve anti-human trafficking coordination within Federal agencies and across State and local governments, and improve efforts to recognize, prevent, and report human trafficking.

 
Wouldn’t it be nice if the network news would get around to sharing positive news like this on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and encourage others to fight this sourge? Don’t hold your breath.

Iranians aren’t just protesting… many are converting to Christianity

As evidence that the Left doesn’t really think everyone is endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights (in particular life and liberty), witness their obvious indifference to the Iranian protests. Hundreds of thousands are standing up to a theocratic regime, risking their lives for freedom from tyranny ~

People initially took to the streets to voice economic grievances and protest government corruption, harsh economic conditions for ordinary people, and a high youth unemployment rate.
 
However, as more Iranians joined the protest since December 28, protestors focused less on economic issues and more on demanding fundamental political reform in Iran. They reject their government’s policy of supporting terrorists in countries like Syria while ignoring economic hardship at home. They call for the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to step down and for “death to the Revolutionary Guards,” a powerful military force loyal to him.

 
… Yet here in the West, the folks who claim that Trump is a fascist seem to be siding with a fascist government – against its own people. Just like Obama did in 2009 as Helen Raleigh, writing at The Federalist, reminds us ~

While protesters were shedding blood on Iranian streets, President Obama ordered the Central Intelligence Agency to sever contact with and material support to the Iranian opposition. He also ended U.S. programs to document Iranian human rights abuses. He even wrote letters to Khamenei assuring him the United States was not trying to overthrow him.

 
In case anyone has forgotten, Iran hasn’t lost its position as the world’s number one state sponsor of terrorism ~

The current Iranian regime represents an existential threat to not only the United States but all of western civilization. Had we supported the opposition in 2009 and they succeeded, a real fundamental political reform could have taken place in Iran, and a truly free and democratic Iran could one day have become an ally in peace, rather than a continued threat.

 

There’s another compelling reason we should be supporting the effort to oust this Islamist regime. It’s sort of a story behind the protest story, that no one is really covering ➡ Iranian Muslims are converting to Christianity at an unprecedented pace; a remarkable development that just might be a factor in this rising protest movement ~

It remains one of the best kept secrets in the world. Iranian Muslims are converting to Christianity at an unprecedented pace, perhaps by the thousands every day.

 
In a country of some 75 million people, Iran is reported to have 3 million Christians, which may not sound like a huge number until you realize that the penalty for conversion from Islam is often death. According to Mohabat News, Muslim clerics find these numbers quite disturbing – which is excellent news 🙂 ~

Christianity has been growing at an exponential rate in the last couple of decades in Iran, causing the Islamic government a great deal of concern. In a most recent expression of their distress, one of the high profile Islamic seminary officials, Ayatollah Alavi Boroujerdi, stated “accurate reports indicate that the youth are becoming Christians in Qom and attending house churches”.
 
This high rate of conversion of Iranian youth to Christianity is in spite of rigorous Islamic indoctrination of the youth in their families and educational system. The Islamic government of Iran dedicates massive budgets to the support of Islamic organizations that promote Islam among the youth within and without Iran’s borders. Such efforts to attract Iranian youth is much more noticeable in Islamic cities such as Mashhad and Qom. Regardless of such efforts, Iranian youth seem to become increasingly distant from Islam, which is a cause of great concern for the Iranian Islamic government.

 
Despite the fact that Iran currently ranks #10 on Open Doors’ World Watch list of countries where persecution is harshest, Iranians have become the Muslim people most open to the gospel in the Middle East ~
 

 

The faith of these Muslim-background believers is truly inspiring; they’re “happy” to be beaten for being a Christian, it’s a “pleasure” to be persecuted for the Lord – Amazing!

By all reliable accounts, Iranians want back the country they had before the regressive 1979 Iranian Revolution – not the iron-fisted theocracy they’re suffering under today. An it’s undeniable that many of them yearn for the freedom to worship as they choose – even Jesus Christ. As Helen Raleigh says, “America has the moral obligation to stand up for and stand by people who are thirsty for freedom and want to take charge of their own destiny.”

• Many more people in Iran to give their lives to Christ.
• Endurance and joy for Christians in Iran suffering in prison for their ministry—many have testified to sensing the prayers of the global church while imprisoned.
• More trained leaders to serve as evangelists, church planters, and pastors to disciple the many new Iranian believers.
 
Persecution threatened to wipe out Iran’s tiny church. Instead, by God’s mighty hand, His church is growing rapidly. Praise him!

Distracted by sh**holes, mainstreams ignore Trump’s masterful immigration meeting

Pretending to be aghast at Trump’s alleged use of the term – pardon my French – “sh**hole” (in reference to third-world, poverty-ridden countries run by corrupt tyrants) the mainstreams, like a bunch of unsupervised kids on the playground, have been giddily repeating the expletive for days now. [Remember when they reacted the same way to Obama’s use of the word “sh**show,” with regard to Libya, two years ago? Me neither.]
 
But as with most of their pearl-clutching drama, the MSM’s overreaction is probably calculated to distract from much more significant events – like the president’s immigration meeting last Tuesday ~

Journalists were surprised by President Donald Trump’s transparency after he opened the doors to reporters during a bipartisan meeting with congressional leaders on Tuesday.

 

In the following video Michael Knowles points out just how masterfully the president managed the discussion. In particular, contrasting Trump’s leadership skills in a meeting like this, with Obama’s typically petty and contentious behavior in a similar situation. Media kicks God out of sports coverage

Watching last Monday night’s National College Football Championship I’ll admit I was rooting for the underdog, Georgia. And for most of the game everything was going their way. But never count the Crimson Tide out.
 
After starting quarterback Jalen Hurts turned in a lackluster first half, head coach Nick Saban replaced him with back-up QB Tua [Tuanigamanuolepola 🙂 ] Tagovailoa. (Imagine learning to spell that name in kindergarten!) A true freshman from Hawaii, Tagovailoa turned in an inspired performance! Playing with amazing poise under pressure he helped Alabama reverse a 0-13 halftime score and led them to a final, overtime victory of 26-23 with a stunning 41-yard touchdown pass ~

Saban’s quarterback switch to Tagovailoa proved genius in the end, though, with the freshman phenom throwing the walk-off touchdown in overtime to beat Georgia 26-23. Tagovailoa finished with 166 yards passing and three touchdowns to one interception.

But what impressed me more than Tua’s feats on the field were his remarks immediately following the game when his first reaction was to thank God for his acomplishments ~

“Excuse me,” Tua Tagovailoa said as he was interviewed by ESPN. “First and foremost, I’d just like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. With him, all things are possible. That’s what happened tonight.”
 
“All glory goes to God,” Tagovailoa said later in the interview. “I can’t describe what He’s done for me and my family. Who would have ever thought I would have been here, right now in this moment. So, you know, thank God for that, and I’d just like to thank my teammates and coach Saban for giving me the opportunity.”

 
If you weren’t watching the championship live, this may be the first time you’re aware of his acknowledgement. That’s thanks to a sports media that is every bit as anti-God as the mainstreams. Tagovailoa’s praise for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is notably missing from most reportage on the game.
 

What makes this omission more of a trend, than simply an isolated oversight, is the fact that it happens all the time. Here was another example just the other day ~ Steelers Linebacker Gives God Credit for Healing After Injury: Mainstream Media Deletes It.
 
RShazierDuring a December 4th game against Cincinnati, Pittsburg Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier sustained what looked to be a very scary spinal injury. Just over a month later he’s made significant progress and – as Nancy Flory at The Stream reports – he is praising God for the improvement. This was Shazier’s Jan. 10th Instagram post ~

I want to thank the Lord for the first downs that he has been allowing me to achieve. The touchdown is going to come in his timing, but today was a first down. I was finally able to make it to practice with my teammates. It’s great to be back for practices and meetings. Just to be able to feel a part of it means the world. So I’m working harder than I ever have to get back. Ive been making strides over the past month and continue to make progress. Taking it day-by-day, but I’m far from done. But once again the mainstream media accounts deliberately ignored any references to the Lord in their reports ~

The Washington Post mutilated Shazier’s quote and reported that Shazier “promised that the ‘touchdown is going to come.’” […]
 
WaPo also deleted Shazier’s sentence, “The Lord has not finished His work yet.” They further chose not to print Shazier’s references to the Lord in the beginning of the tweet.
 
According to CBN, The Associated Press also deleted references to God or the Lord in its reporting.

 

Weird eh? You’d almost think these secularists thought the Constitution guaranteed freedom from religion instead of freedom of religion.

The magi, representing the nations, who have been in the error of darkness and idolatry, are shown a star, a light in the heavens from God, to lead them to Christ, conceived of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary. They see “the light of Christ’s face.” St. Paul writes that the light of the knowledge of the glory of God shines in the face of Christ. (2 Cor. 4:6)

 
The vision of space without any starlight is a grim and bitterly cold emptiness, a black void. Man seeks light and warmth. Each point of light, each star, is seen from billions of miles away, so powerful and penetrating is the power and reach of light into the vast regions of what would otherwise remain darkness. The light of Christ is the Light by which we have been able to fathom so much of this universe, that is, through the Logos and power of reason and language of which he is the Source.

Vatican re-imagines the Nativity story

A Reuters photographer happened to witness the incident as the topless woman, shouting “God is woman,” climbed over a guard rail and scrambled up to the scene in a brazen attempt to take the statue of Jesus from its crib.
 
The photographer, Alessandro Bianchi, snapped a picture showing a Vatican gendarme closing in on the woman, who also had the slogan scrawled across her bare back.

If this FEMEN radical weren’t so hellbent on mocking Christ and tearing down the evil patriarchal mores of Western society, she could almost be applauded for attempting to rescue Jesus from a hideous representation of His holy birth.
 

Unfortunately, the Vatican’s irreverent 2017 Nativity display (see more pix below) has very little to do with the great joy which shall be to all people. Instead, as this article by Diane Montagna at LifeSite News suggests, it seems to be some sort of vague tribute to humanism – and worse ~ Vatican’s ‘sexually suggestive’ nativity has troubling ties to Italy’s LGBT activists ~

An official of the Vatican’s Governorate has told LifeSiteNews that the abbey of Montevergine initially proposed the original idea for the ‘Nativity of Mercy.’ The Vatican discussed and developed a more detailed design with the abbey, then submitted final plans to the Secretary of State and Pope Francis for approval, which was duly granted.
 
“The presence of the Vatican Nativity Scene for us is a reason to be even happier this year,” Antonello Sannini, president of homosexual activist group Arcigay Naples, told LifeSiteNews on Tuesday. “For the homosexual and transsexual community in Naples, it is an important symbol of inclusion and integration.”

 
Well isn’t that special? I couldn’t agree more with this assessment ~

“This horrendous exhibit, a sacrilegious, highly deceitful and malevolent attempt to turn the holy innocence of the manger in St. Peter’s Square into a lobbying tool for the homosexual rights movement, is just the latest fiendish act, but one that’s symptomatic of this entire pontificate,” one source close to the Vatican told LifeSiteNews.

 
Reliably, Ann Barnhardt was less sanguine in her commentary, and explained how the gay Catholic community co-opted Montevergine for their cause ~ Vatican Nativity Made In Sodomite and Transvestite Shrine – Clear Winking Signal to Sex Perverts ~

The Sanctuary of Montevergine has long been notoriously and blasphemously claimed as a mascot and meeting place for sodomites and transvestites. […]
 

A false story was started by sodomites that two sodomite men, after being caught, convicted and condemned to death by exposure for their sickening capital crimes by being tied to a tree, were miraculously saved by the Virgin of Montevergine, whereupon the two sodomites… wait for it… promptly celebrated by sodomizing each other because their “love” had been ratified by the Queen of Heaven, or something.

There are so many disturbing elements in this twisted tableau that it’s difficult to reference them all, but the entire scene is so off-putting that an atheist or agnostic observing the panorama would be left thinking that the birth of our Lord and Savior was some sort of pagan celebration of human wretchedness.
 
Rather than one’s attention being rightly drawn to the Holy Child, and his parents, the set is so crowded and disjointed it’s visually jarring. It’s almost unrecognizable as a Nativity scene.

All of the facial expressions are serious, grim, unhappy, or otherwise negative, at least indifferent. Even the little angels beside the crib have a look of suffering or despair on their countenances, and the large angel hovering above doesn’t look like he just announced good tidings of great joy, either. The only shepherd included in the scene is playing the flute with a look of annoyance on his face. St. Joseph is depicted as absent-minded, and Our Lady looks rather masculine, staring at her Divine Son as though she was about to unleash fury on Him.
 
Not a single statue appears to be joyful about the Birth of Christ, which is clearly not the main focus of this scene anyway. There is nothing edifying in this display, nothing that would inspire joy, love, adoration, or gratitude in souls.

The official explanation for this disaster is that the exhibit is meant to depict the seven corporal works of mercy (bury the dead, visit the imprisoned, feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, visit the sick and refresh the thirsty). But as Novus Ordo points out, a manager scene is hardly the time and place to instruct us in our Christian duties ~

While the corporal works of mercy are important, laudable, and necessary for salvation in a sense (cf. Mt 25:31-46), they have no place in a Christmas Nativity set. Their inclusion in the Vatican display is meant to distract from the Birth of the Savior, who came primarily to save us from our sins and from hell, not to improve our temporal condition (cf. Mt 1:21; Mk 14:7; Jn 6:59,64).

I imagine that the Vatican will leave this bizzare display up through the Feast of the Epiphany this coming Sunday. Barnhardt has rightly called for it to be dismantled last week ~

(O)nce again, this monstrosity needs to be torn down. A group of Catholic men need to muster – preferably in a group of at least one thousand, notify the Italian police and the Swiss Guards that they will be arriving at St. Peter’s Square in the wee hours of the morning so as not to disrupt traffic, and that they will quietly and quickly dismantle this blasphemous manifestation of the satanic powers now occupying the Vatican, and then all kneel and pray the Rosary in reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and then leave. And tell them that they are all, every one, willing to be arrested.

 
It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen. But let’s at least hope the pope doesn’t haul this horror out again next year. Nothing would be better than this unholy shrine to paganism.
