Deprogramming an Occupier
Valiant attempt to breakthrough to a blockhead ~
Interesting to observe the mis-education, ignorance of historical facts and stunted thinking skills. Just programmed to parrot “Occupy’s” talking points.
While it’s hard to tell if he’ll eventually come to his senses, at least some seeds of the truth were planted.
The video is from “Former Soviet Citizen” who has several similar clips posted on his YouTube channel. Not sure who’s behind the pseudonym but I give him major kudos for his efforts!

He reminds me of Oleg Atbashian, another “former Soviet citizen,” who runs The People’s Cube and wrote “Shakedown Socialism.” Oleg is actively engaged in the same battle against totalitarianism. His primary weapon of truth is satire 😀 ~

Deconstructing Families & Motherhood
In a timely article entitled “Bad Mommy,” Joan Swirsky takes an insightful look at the history of the Feminist Movement and its decades-long war on motherhood – up to and including the life of “Julia.” ~
The result of the 1960’s tsunami-like social upheaval – especially in the leftist bastions on the East and West coasts where European nanny-state socialism was as irresistible then as it is to leftists today – were children raised on the permissive childrearing philosophy of pediatrician Dr. Benjamin Spock, “educated” by teachers who strangely thought that feelings trumped academic discipline, and indulged by parents who were never indulged themselves. These ingredients – and the relentless drive of Communists and Socialists to topple America’s dazzlingly successful experiment in republican democracy – created the fertile environment for the decadent and violent decade of the sixties to flourish.
Which spawned socially corrosive trends like extra-marital sex, sky-rocketing divorce rates, and abortion ~
(Women) also lost the marriage battle, since more than 50 percent of marriages now end in divorce, and most of those who stay married are not what anyone would describe as happy. This is partly explained by the degree to which The Pill allowed women to defer marriage and motherhood in favor of a career and how difficult it is to live three or more decades thinking solely about oneself and one’s needs and desires, only to marry to beat the ticking time clock of fertility and to shift one’s heretofore single-minded self-absorption to a husband and baby.
Swirsky’s piece is also a rebuttal of the remarks made last month by Hilary Rosen, political consultant to the DNC, accusing Ann Romney of not representing the majority of women in America because; “(Romney’s) wife has actually never worked a day in her life.”
Yeah Hil – looks like she had a lot of spare time on her hands:

As a parent, I can personally attest to the fact that raising kids to be productive members of society in today’s warped culture is definitely “work.” As a foster and adoptive parent, I can tell you those particular roles are even more challenging.
The contrast between Romney’s concept of motherhood and Rosen’s couldn’t be more stark. Here’s Rosen’s family – before her “partnership” split up:

Hilary Rosen with her former partner Elizabeth Birch and kids Jacob and Anna.
I’m pretty sure that the Romney boys were brought up to be responsible, self-reliant, reasonably well-adjusted, productive citizens. Somehow, I don’t feel quite as confident about Rosen’s children. Start with adoption. Mix in a racial component. Add two moms (subtract two dads). Throw in a “divorce,” and someday these poor kids are gonna keep a whole team of therapists very busy.
I don’t mean to say that children raised in traditional families are immune to mental health issues. But the effect of Rosen & partner’s lifestyle choices on these two will likely be an extremely confused sense of self. Happy as they look in this picture, these kids will probably be dealing with some really tough emotional issues as they reach adolescence and adulthood.
And these difficulties will make them perfect subjects of the nanny state: maladjusted, entitled and forever needy. Because, intentional or not, that’s where the Leftist’s philosophy always pushes people.
As Swirsky continues:
Nowhere is this clearer than in Barack Obama’s new composite girlfriend, featured on his campaign website in ‘The Life of Julia.’ From birth to a head-start program to her teenage and sexually active years (including abortions) to her job prospects to her Social Security benefits, the seemingly unmarried Julia – who needs a husband when you’ve got the Obama Nanny State?! – is dependent on other people’s money to get her through life.
This is all you really need to know about Hilary Rosen and her ilk:
…You see, leftists revile traditional families, preferring instead all manner of non-traditional “unions” and, of course, having the State and the U.N. control everyone’s life from cradle to grave. This is why they so resent and revile religion, because the State is their god.
But read Swirsky’s whole article, it’s an enlightening one.

Environmental groups collecting millions from federal agencies they sue, studies show ~
Under the Equal Access to Justice Act, or EAJA — which was signed into law by President Carter in 1980 to help the little guy stand up to federal agencies — litigants with modest means who successfully show government agencies wronged them can get their legal fees back from the taxpayer.
But the act also covers 501(c)(3) nonprofits, including environmental groups that aggressively sue the feds to enforce land-use laws, the Clean Water and Clean Air acts and laws protecting endangered species. Their lawyers are getting reimbursed at rates as high as $750 an hour, sources tell FoxNews.com.
As always with the road to hell…

Greece on the Skids
I want to keep reminding folks about what’s happening in Europe these days – mostly because the MSM isn’t (they’d rather endlessly obsess over an isolated incident from Mitt Romney’s teenaged past). The world economy is now so closely knit together that we’d be fools to believe that if things begin to unravel on the other side of the Atlantic it won’t have serious consequences over here. And more importantly, if America doesn’t change direction soon, we’ll be arriving at the same crisis point – headed toward the dustbin of history.

Mona Charen at Townhall.com has a particularly relevant article this week: Extremism in Defense of the Welfare State. In Europe, the “takers” now outnumber the “makers,” and they’re pushing society and government to extremes ~
European governments are toppling like clock towers in an earthquake. The Dutch government fell on April 23, when it failed to agree with the opposition on an austerity plan. On May 6, Socialist Francois Hollande defeated France’s Nicolas Sarkozy. Greece’s ruling coalition has been shattered — the vote splintered among dozens of small parties…
…Greece may be the loose thread that unravels the garment. Economist Desmond Lachman, formerly of the IMF and now at the American Enterprise Institute, is concerned that if Greece does not comply with its obligations, the sovereign debt crisis in Europe will be dramatically deepened, with contagion dragging the continent into another financial crisis from which the U.S. would not be shielded.
Unlike floods and earthquakes, this disaster is entirely manmade and utterly avoidable. “Europe is tremendously wealthy and productive, but Europeans sabotaged themselves by embracing the foolish idea that they could have an economic union without a political union. They are also paying the price for failing to come to terms with actuarial realities; their populations are graying. Without reforms of pension and other benefits, they cannot sustain their standard of living. Rather than face their own corruption, the Greeks principally, but also other Europeans, are disintegrating into raging extremists blaming anyone and everyone else. That’s the object lesson for us.
Here, Barack Obama and the Democratic Party are promising Americans more of this fool’s gold — limitless government benefits with costs imposed on someone else (‘the rich’ or future generations). It’s an engraved invitation to Athens.”
America, we better be paying close attention to current events in Europe – if we don’t want to face the same disintegration.
Mutating on Marriage

Same-sex marriage?
I was for it before I was against it –
and against it before I was for it.
I’m really evolving mutating!
Rev. Franklin Graham (and I) have another take on it: Obama has ‘shaken his fist at’ God:
“It grieves me that our president would now affirm same-sex marriage, though I believe it grieves God even more.”
“The institution of marriage should not be defined by presidents or polls, governors or the media,” said Graham. “The definition was set long ago and changing legislation or policy will never change God’s definition. This is a sad day for America. May God help us.”

“Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning made them male and female; “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”? So then, they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let not man separate.”

Motor City “Comeback” Sustains Another Setback
Remember Chrysler’s Superbowl commercial “It’s Halftime in America” – and Detroit’s leading the way…to a winning future… or something? The ad may have sold a few cars, but not many are buying the fantasy that Motown is making a comeback any time soon. Especially with stories like this (from the Detroit News): Detroit endures deadly run of violence with 5 murders in less than a week.
One of these was self-defense; a homeowner shot and killed a burglar (Hooray for the 2nd amendment!). And a couple appear to be gang and/or drug-related. But by far the most senseless death was that of Joseph Lewis, an elderly security guard at Victory Way Assembly Church of God and Christ, who was murdered in the church parking lot while a Bible study took place inside.

The latest reported slaying happened at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, when an 84-year-old church security guard was killed. Police say two men approached the victim in the parking lot of the Victory Way Assembly Church of God and Christ near Tireman and Vancourt, and a struggle ensued. One of the men fired a fatal shot before he and his partner fled the scene, police said. [Source: Det.News]
Far from coming back, I think Mrs. Triplett pretty well sums up how most Detroiters feel about the direction their city is headed these days:
“I’m hurt that Detroit is the way it is now,” said Leonore Triplett, 86, who moved to Detroit with her husband, Wally, in 1952. “It seems like every time you turn around, someone else is getting killed. It’s very frightening — and it’s even more frightening for seniors.”
At Sanctified Church Revolution, they’re more direct about the real cause behind this tragedy. And comforted and strengthened by their faith ~
We realize the Devil is everywhere and will always try to prove through his devious workers that it does not matter where he acts up. However, this is why we are always encouraging the body of Christ to never stop fasting and praying, because Satan bragged to the Lord where he roams on the earth in Job 1:7: ‘And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.’
Therefore, do not be surprised when Satan acts up in the church, around the church or even outside of the church. Any race of mankind whom are not God’s children are always ready to do a job for the Devil and this is what happened in this case.
It is time for us now to not allow Satan to rule, so we encourage the saints of God everywhere to remain dedicated to prayer and fasting. Let us unite and take back this entire country, not just the city of Detroit.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
May this elderly security guard, Joseph Lewis, rest in peace.
Amen.
Wisconsin Poised to do the Right Thing…?
Don’t want to get overly optimistic here, but things are certainly looking up in the Gov. Scott Walker recall election – for Walker that is.
Although the petition to recall the Governor garned over 1 million signatures, only 650,000 actually showed up to vote in Tuesday’s primary. Hmmm… something fishy about that petition drive in Wisconsin?
Breitbart’s Big Government definitely thinks something smells:
There has been much speculation over that past couple months that a large number of the signatures submitted were fraudulent, and this may very well be the best indicator of truth to the speculation–as well as an indication of just how many signatures were not legitimate. Since Governor Walker was denied adequate time from the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board to review and challenge the signatures, over 600,000 of them were never evaluated.
What’s really encouraging though, is that voters don’t seem to be buying the angry rhetoric and leftist propaganda. Remember all the union scare tactics from last year? ~
Europe Votes for DEpendence – Climbing on the Gravy Train of Tyranny… again
Apparently Europe, like much of America, has totally eliminated history courses – other than the revisionist versions – from their schools’ curriculum. How else to explain their regressive behavior last week? France, Greece and Germany election results send (anti-)austerity shockwaves through Europe.
European leaders, finally realizing that the money’s running out, and the party’s almost over, have been making a serious effort to reign in the out-of-control entitlement spending ~
The economic doctrine of austerity, to cut the burden of state spending to free up the economy, has ruled supreme with the support all of Europe’s leaders, the European Union and financial markets.
But the voters are having none of it ~
…(P)olitical leaders were on Sunday night conceding the consensus had been shattered beyond repair.
With Europe’s economies plunging further into recession and as unemployment in the eurozone breaks record levels, voters demands for a new approach had finally become to[sic] great to ignore.
The popular backlash to EU imposed austerity to the centrist New Democracy and Socialist parties in Greece threatens the existence of the euro itself.
Greece is potentially ungovernable as a minority government must try and pass a new raft of austerity measures next month which are a condition of an EU-IMF bailout and Greek membership of the euro.
In France, while Hollande, the Socialist President-elect is a centrist, he is sitting on a powder keg of resentment at measures that his government will have to pass if it is not spark a meltdown of financial markets.
Mr Hollande also horrified Berlin by sneering at the idea that France should change its constitution to enshrine a “debt brake” outlawing Socialist spending levels.
Hey – why stop spending like drunken sailors now? Why help pull the wagon when you can get a free ride?
Luckily, the lessons of the last century and repressive totalitarianism haven’t been forgotten by everyone. There are still voices of sanity reminding Europeans that they’re heading back in the wrong direction. Like Nigel Farage (UK Independent Party) who spoke earlier today in front of the European Parliament.
May 9th is supposedly Celebration of the Euro day 😯 , but Farage told his colleagues they should instead be celebrating May 8th – Victory in Europe Day; “when at least ½ of the continent got its democracy back!”
Zero Hedge has a short video of Farage’s 3 minute address: “The EU Titanic Has Now Hit The Iceberg”
Like communism (the European Union) has all gone badly wrong…
We face the prospect of mass civil unrest, possibly even revolution in some countries.
What’s happening in Greece is reminiscent of the elections in Germany in 1932…
If many Europeans are fuzzy on the history of their continent, you’d still think that most would be aware of a more recent occurrence; the transformation of East Germany since the fall of the Berlin Wall. If they aren’t, they need to check out these photos by Stefan Koppelkamm. Before and after shots of the same scenes, just two decades apart, the pictures clearly show the stunning transformation, and illustrate the stark contrast between communism and democracy.
Multicultural Naiveté
Did you catch the news reports about Saturday’s arraignment of the 9-11 terrorists? This first step in the military tribunal, held in Guantanamo Bay, sounds like it was a real circus:
The court hearing for Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his four co-defendants should have taken a couple of hours at most. Instead it lasted almost 13 hours, including meal and prayer breaks, as the men appeared to make a concerted effort to stall Saturday’s hearing.
They knelt in prayer, ignored the judge, wouldn’t listen to Arabic translations over their head sets and one even insisted on having the more than 20 pages detailing the charges against them read aloud, rather than deferred for later in their case as the judge wanted, which added more than two hours to the proceedings.
[Source: Fox News]
Contributing to the sideshow atmosphere was attorney Cheryl Bormann, counsel for defendant Walid bin Attash, who chose to attend the proceedings dressed in a hijab – apparently at her client’s insistence.
Borman, who’s not a Muslim, says she was acting out of respect for her client’s religious beliefs. Does she think the defendants have any respect for her, or the legal system she represents? If so, they have an unusual way of showing it:
… Mohammed cast off his earphones providing Arabic translations of the proceeding and refused to answer Army Col. James Pohl’s questions or acknowledge he understood them. All five men refused to participate in the hearing; two passed around a copy of The Economist magazine and leafed through the articles.
Bin Attash was confined to a restraint chair when he came into court on Saturday, released only after he promised to behave.
(And) Ramzi Binalshibh began praying alongside his defense table, followed by Ali Abd al-Aziz Ali, in the middle of the hearing…
These barbarians have no respect for us, because we, with our ridiculous embrace of cultural diversity, no longer defend Western civilization and our long-held traditions of life, liberty – and the rule of law. We’ve lost confidence in the very foundational beliefs that made America great. We no longer have any self-respect.
Does Ms. Borman, costumed in her hijab, realize that by showing “respect” for her client she’s really only earning disdain – and accommodating evil in the process?
Islam has no tolerance for multiculturalism. Pretending otherwise is insanity. A reality that was on full display last Saturday in Guantanamo Bay.
Scientists’ Brain Farts Cause Global Warming
Did dinosaurs cause climate change? That’s the latest from the pseudo-science crowd as reported by the UK Mail Online: Huge creatures may have contributed to their own demise because they produced so much flatulence ~
Professor Graeme Ruxton of St Andrews University, Scotland, said the giant animals spent 150 years emitting the potent global warming gas, methane.
Large plant-eating sauropods would have been the main culprits because of the huge amounts of greenery they consumed.
Apparently the good professor jumped into a time machine, transported himself back to the late Jurassic period and traveled extensively to count sauropods and study the global climate conditions of that era. He even took along a camera:
Good grief! First they tell us cows are causing global warming, when in fact; Cow Flatulence May Reduce Greenhouse Gasses. And now we’re supposed to believe that dinosaurs tooted themselves into extinction?!
Instead of speculating about sauropod methane output and its effect on atmospheric conditions in the late Jurassic, maybe researchers like Professor Ruxton could focus their efforts on science that would actually benefit the earth’s current inhabitants. They could start by studying our planet’s incredibly diverse present-day flora and fauna. Creation-Evolution Headlines reports on scientists who are doing just that, and discovering the amazing engineering design in nature: Follow the Leader: Plants and Animals.
Recent studies include research on the water-shedding abilities of lotus leaves and gecko toes, using DNA molecules to help develop an electronic nose and studying spider silk with the aim of creating new stronger, more flexible fabrics.
And then there’s energy-producing potential lurking in the lowly cowpie: Bio-inspired: Energy from Cowpies.
Wouldn’t it be great if Prof. Ruxton and his colleagues stopped blowing hot air and did some real science?
