Constitution be damned, you will be made to conform – or ostracized ~ Sen. Booker convenes ‘theological court of inquisition’ ~

“I’m in my ninth year serving in the United States Senate and I’ve served on the Judiciary Committee that entire time,” said Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT). “I have never, until the last few months, seen on any regular basis questions like this come up with someone asking whether certain conduct is sinful.”

Freedom of religion has been one of Americans’ most cherished rights since Europeans first fled to this continent to escape persecution. But if Democrats like presidential candidate Sen. Kamala Harris have their way, the country will soon be undergoing a secular/atheist version of the Spanish Inquisition.
 
Last month, at a confirmation hearing for Brian Buescher – a Trump nominee for district court in Nebraska – Harris gave us a preview of what the future may hold for Christians. Here was how her “interrogation” of Mr. Buescher went ~
 

“Since 1993, you have been a member of the Knights of Columbus, an all-male society comprised primarily of Catholic men. In 2016, Carl Anderson, leader of the Knights of Columbus, described abortion as ‘a legal regime that has resulted in more than 40 million deaths.’ Mr. Anderson went on to say that ‘abortion is the killing of the innocent on a massive scale.’ Were you aware that the Knights of Columbus opposed a woman’s right to choose when you joined the organization?”

 
Notice the disingenuous line of questioning? The misleading phraseology? A woman’s right to kill her unborn child (even after it’s born – in New York state now!) is now “a woman’s right to choose.” And a Christian organization, with 2 million members, that’s been around 136 years, is suddenly suspect?
 
The Knights of Columbus are involved in charitable and community activities all across the country. The last issue of Columbia, the organization’s monthly publication, reported on numerous events (Habitat for Humanity, housing the homeless, stocking food pantries, fundraisers for medical research, disabled and wounded veterans, needy parishioners, etc., etc.), both national and local.
 
But what the party of infanticide really can’t abide is the Knights’ steadfast support for pro-life causes. The various councils regularly participate in Marches for Life, help fund crisis pregnancy centers and recently celebrated the donation of their 1000th ultrasound machine ~

We began this initiative with the placement of two ultrasound machines in Iowa and Florida in 2009.
 
This program is saving hundreds of thousands of lives and I am sure that one day soon, because of the efforts of thousands of brother Knights and countless pro-life volunteers we will save the lives of 1 million unborn children — the greatest humanitarian achievement in the history of the Knights of Columbus.

 
So you can imagine why the Congressional White Pantsuit Brigade is so opposed to this Catholic organization. When women face the stark reality of an ultrasound – and realize that their baby isn’t just a clump of cells after all – more often than not, they choose life.

 
As Matthew Continetti at the Washington Free Beacon reports, Kamala Harris is far from alone in her assault on Christianity ~

She was joined in (her line of questioning of Buescher) by Senator Mazie Hirono of Hawaii. The even worse news is that plenty of Senate Democrats agree with them. They’ve adopted a strategy of interrogating President Trump’s judicial nominees about Catholic beliefs and associations. It began in September 2017 when Dianne Feinstein told Amy Coney Barrett, now confirmed to the Seventh Circuit, “The dogma lives loudly within you, and that’s a concern.”

 
Our Constitution specifically prohibits this prejudicial behavior. Article VI, Section III plainly states:

“[N]o religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or Public Trust under the United States.”

 
But Harris & Co. are counting on the fact that most Americans are pretty clueless when it comes to the Constitution. And of course they know that the media is either clueless as well – or simply willing to look the other way.

Thankfully, Republicans in Congress have read Article VI. And just to clarify matters, on January 16th they adopted a resolution introduced by Ben Sasse (R-NE) specifically stating that it’s unconstitutional to disqualify a nominee from public office based on their membership in the Knights of Columbus.
 
One thing we know about the Progressive Left though, they’re tenacious. We can’t expect this overt persecution to end any time soon.
 
Continetti emphasizes what’s at stake ~

More than religious freedom is under attack in the controversy over the Knights. So is the freedom of association. In the midst of a social crisis that involves drug and alcohol abuse, suicide, depression, and loneliness, progressive Democrats seek to delegitimize the very organizations that promote community, connection, charity, and meaning.

 
We must oppose these anti-Christian, anti-freedom, anti-life Leftists at every turn.

Kamala Harris’ and Planned Parenthood’s bogus case against me will go to Preliminary Hearing in San Francisco Superior Court. It will run from February 19 to March 4. For two weeks, the Attorney General’s office will try to present evidence of “probable cause.” They’ll argue that my recordings of public conversations somehow violated the California video recording law.
