Good grief Michigan! I’m moving to Brazil!

So thanks to last week’s mid-term elections, next year Michigan will have:

• An all-blue executive branch, dedicated to advancing Democrats’ already failed policies (Think Detroit’s financial woes, union corruption and miserable school system)
• Recreational marijuana (Because the opioid crisis isn’t bad enough. Let’s add another narcotic to the mix.)
• Voting changes enshrined in our state constitution that will encourage more voter fraud, and guarantee Michigan will be forever progressive blue

We’re now surrounded by low-information leftists. Brazil is looking good from here.

Two weeks ago, the people of Brazil, unwilling to follow Venezuela down the socialist rabbit hole, elected “Tropical Trump” – aka – Jair Bolsonaro to be their new president. Their Left – and ours – went loco; affirmation that voters made the right choice ~

‘Trump of the Tropics’ Wins Brazilian Presidential Election ~

Jair Bolsonaro emerged as the winner of Brazil’s presidential election runoff, making him the first conservative candidate to be elected in the country in 20 years.

Bolsonaro’s victory represents a major change of course for Latin America’s biggest nation — and the fifth most populous country in the world. The leftist Workers’ Party has won every presidential election since 2003. However, after years of violence, economic stagnation and political corruption, the Brazilian electorate has yearned for change.

Bolsonaro has called for major conservative reforms while on the campaign trail. The former army captain has vowed to drastically reduce crime in the country by allowing more access to guns, and giving greater freedom for law enforcement to carry out operations. Also, Bolsonaro wants to inject free-market reforms in the country’s economy, reforms he believes will foster the type of job growth citizens have been yearning for.

The president-elect has also drawn strong comparisons to one man in particular: U.S. President Donald Trump. The media has constantly referred to Bolsonaro as the “Trump of the Tropics” or the “Trump of Brazil” — not only because of his conservative positions, but because of his no-holds-barred rhetoric.

Brazilians were not just enthusiastically endorsing Bolsonaro. They were also roundly rejecting the destructive politics of his predecessor, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva*. Last year I posted a great video from PragerU, “How Socialism Ruined My Country,” featuring Felipe Moura Brasil. The Brazilian journalist and magazine columnist explained how the former president’s collectivist policies had bred widespread corruption and crime, and left the economy in a shambles.

Tropical Trump (as China’s state-run paper referred to Bolsonaro) shares another distinction with our president – the leftist media can’t stand him ~

To generate panic, the press reminds people of his controversial statements. His homophobia, his misogyny, his support for torture; he is accused of authoritarianism, intrinsic to the military manners of his formation. However, who today is throwing the tantrums is the left, especially the ones aligned with Castroism. That also includes the great apostle of the left in Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

Also, as with Trump, all the right globalists, progressives and totalitarians are unhinged over Brazil’s shift to the right ~

Breitbart reports that many Brazilians are fearful (Bolsonaro) will roll back the legislative accomplishments of former administrations with new policies such as the expansion of the military, cracking down on crime, expanding gun rights, pulling Brazil out of the Paris Climate Agreement, and blocking all attempts to legalize abortion.

It seems many more – over 55% – are hoping he’ll do those very things.

In Brazil last month, as in America two years ago, the regular folks were desperate for a change. Let’s see if he’s as good as his word ~

During his victory speech (Oct.28), Bolsonaro said would govern for “all Brazilians” and would lead an administration that protected citizens who “follow their duties and respect the laws.”

“We cannot continue flirting with socialism, communism, populism and the extremism of the left,” he declared. “The laws are for everyone, this is how it will be during our constitutional and democratic government.”

Sounds like a plan :)

*Lula was convicted of corruption last January and sentenced to 12 years in prison. Until September he was actually trying to run for reelection from his jail cell ~

LuladaSilva

Under Lula, politicians from a variety of parties benefited from a widespread corruption scheme known as “Operation Car Wash,” in which private contractors kicked back bribes to lawmakers and executives in exchange for guarantees that they would receive overpriced infrastructure contracts, funded by the Brazilian taxpayer. The nation’s courts found Lula personally guilty of accepting millions in bribes as part of this scheme and using them to purchase a luxury beachfront property.
