Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

A Shocking Call For Diversity at Harvard ~ Wow. Ideological diversity at an Ivy League univerity? Wouldn’t that be refreshing?

Much more work is needed to make this important element of diversity a priority. We believe the University must emphasize hiring professors with diverse beliefs and backgrounds who can challenge prevailing campus ideas through tough ideological conversations.

Jazz Legend Wynton Marsalis Says Rap And Hip Hop Are ‘More Damaging’ To Culture Than A Confederate Statue ~ I agree ~

Marsalis said that he believes the African American community has suffered for embracing music that degrades individuals, particularly women, and encourages poor lifestyle choices.

“My words are not that powerful. I started saying in 1985 I don’t think we should have a music talking about n*****s and bitches and hoes. It had no impact. I’ve said it. I’ve repeated it. I still repeat it. To me that’s more damaging than a statue of Robert E. Lee.”

[Unfortunately, it’s a damn shame Marsalis doesn’t know much about history since he was instrumental in getting statues of General Lee removed in New Orleans.]

Cheesecake Factory Employees Attack Black Man For Wearing MAGA Hat, Witnesses Say ~ Whether you happened to catch this story or not it certainly received far less coverage than the manufactured “racist” incident at the Philadelphia Starbucks ~

On Mother’s Day, employees at a Cheesecake Factory in Miami, Florida, verbally attacked and made threatening gestures toward a black man who dined with his girlfriend’s family simply because he was wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, according to multiple witnesses […]

(One) witness told The Daily Wire that the group of employees looked like a lynch mob and they couldn’t stand to see a black man wearing a hat that showed support for the president.

Who needs sensitivity training now?

Ultra-clean homes could trigger childhood leukaemia, major review suggests ~ My mother feels totally vindicated 😀 ~

A major new analysis by Britain’s leading leukaemia expert has concluded a deadly chain of events is set in motion when susceptible children are not exposed to enough bugs to prime their immune system at an early age.

Without sufficient immunity, if vulnerable youngsters catch even a relatively harmless virus like flu, the immune system malfunctions creating far more infection-fighting white blood cells than needed, causing leukaemia.

California Judge Rules in Favor of Baker Who Refused to Bake a Cake for Same-Sex Wedding ~ Halleluiah! There’s at least one judge in California who’s not a radical progressive leftist ~

A Superior Court Judge has issued a final judgment in the case of a Bakersfield, California baker who would not make a wedding cake for a same-sex couple […]

(In his opinion, Judge David Lampe) stated that to force Miller to bake the cake would “do violence to the essentials of Free Speech guaranteed under the First Amendment.”

Intact Starch Granules in “Ancient” Plant Fossil ~ Fossil discoveries continue to weaken the millions-of-years dogma ~

(B)iomolecules (molecules and ions that are present in all living organisms) should be completely deteriorated and disintegrated if they are millions of years old. Scientists have just discovered intact starch granules in plant tissues alleged to be 280 million years old.

Fmr NY Boxing Commissioner: Boxing Fan Trump Righted the Injustice Against Jack Johnson When Other Presidents Refused ~ 100 years later. Apparently this black boxer was no choirboy, but that doesn’t excuse the shoddy treatment he received from the legal system ~

While a pardon doesn’t excuse all the mistakes Jack Johnson made in life, President Trump’s action does remove the stain of a great racial injustice — perpetrated by our government — against one of the greatest fighters who ever lived.

Gut Check Time: It Isn’t A Wedding Because She Is Already Married To Someone Else ~ Ann Barnhardt’s take on last weekend’s royal nuptials. I think I agree, especially after listening to this guy’s opinion of Ms. Markle ~

Prince Harry is going to ape the Sacrament of Marriage today – a grave mortal sin – by publicly pretending to marry another man’s wife – in view of the entire planet, a circumstance which certainly aggravates that already-infinite offense against God, His Church, and all of humanity. This will happen just yards from the grave of Henry VIII, and apparently Mrs. Engelson will be walked down the aisle by Prince Charles, who is also scandalously involved in a faux-marriage to his longtime concubine, Mrs. Andrew Parker-Bowles. The only thing that could have made this charade more deplorable is if Mrs. Engelson’s husband himself had given his own wife away.

Trump White House axes NASA research into greenhouse gas cuts ~ Excellent. Although the BBC doesn’t seem to approve ~

With repeated talks of a space force and sending astronauts back to the moon, Mr Trump appears to favour space missions over earth science. (Yes, because that’s what NASA is supposed to do.)

Leadership in the field of carbon monitoring will likely pass to Europe, which has one carbon-monitoring satellite of its own and more to come. (Wonderful!)

Boy Scouts to make condoms ‘readily and easily accessible’ at upcoming global gathering ~ Well that didn’t take long. First the gays, then the girls – now the Safe Sex badge?

Donald Trump Spends 90 Minutes Shaking Hands with Hundreds of Naval Academy Grads (After giving the commencement speech) ~ Hope I have this kind of stamina when I’m almost 72!
