Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Passport and social security number in one day if you are illegal ~ And in NYC ~ City Offers Illegal Immigrants Free Zoo Trips, Museum Tours 😯 ~ So if we all leave the country and re-enter from Mexico do we legals get the same perks?
Seriously, a country filled with so many clueless citizens – who are allowing this insanity to continue – may no longer deserve its hard-won liberty.

Saudi Arabia Arrests 28 Christians For Praying In Private ~ This should be no big surprise in that most INtolerant of nations; a country that outlaws the Bible ~

It is the only nation state in the world with the official policy of banning all churches. This is enforced even though there are over 2 million Christian foreign workers in that country. Those victimized are typically poor, from Asian and African countries with weak governments.”

But don’t hold your breath for this one ➡ Saudi anti-Christian sweep prompts calls for US involvement. Obama may not bow to Mecca, but he does bow to the Saudis…

America Wastes $22 Trillion In War On Poverty (!) ~ The proverbial road to hell…

… this year marks the 50th anniversary of President Lyndon Johnson’s launch of the War on Poverty.
Liberals claim that the war has failed because we didn’t spend enough money. Their answer is to spend more. But the facts show otherwise.

Just imagine how much real good that could have been done with all that $$.

Penn State Officials Threaten to Call Police on Students Handing Out US Constitutions (Video) Outrageously ironic attack on free speech – outlaw the document that instituted our rights! On a college campus no less! A college named for William Penn!

“Inquiry is human; blind obedience brutal. Truth never loses
by the one but often suffers by the other.”
~ William Penn

California winery put out of business for using volunteers ~ The Golden State seems hellbent on destroying every shred of entrepreneurship, initiative, and free market inventiveness its citizens may still possess ~

The State of California continues its war on productive activity, fining a small family-owned winery that earns $11,000 a year a whopping $115,000 for the crime of inviting volunteers to learn about wine while helping out with the harvest and the crush. That is enough to drive it out of business, and the winery is starting to lauch a going out of business sale in response […]

I suspect that a much bigger reason for the state crackdown is that there is no withholding tax paid and no unemployment insurance paid. As regionally syndicated talk show host Joe Getty puts it, the State of California is like the Mafia: they want a cut of everything that goes on in its turf. And like the Mafia, it will destroy those who refuse to give them a cut[…]

Congratulations, bureaucrats! You have killed another business for stupid reasons.

Kohl’s And The Rest Of The Retailers Are In Deep Doo Doo ~ Sorry to be Debbie Downer but we can’t evade economic reality for much longer.

The Lost Forest World of the World’s Largest Cave ~ Discovered in 1991 Son Doong Cave, or “the cave of the mountain river” in Vietnam, was only explored for the first time four years ago. This article features some awesome, otherworldly pictures. God’s creation continues to amaze ~

The main cavern is so large that it has its own climate, and clouds have even been known to form within it. It is massive enough to house an entire city block, high enough to hold 40 story high skyscrapers, and those who have been here describe being truly humbled by the sheer scale of this place.

Limbaugh’s ‘Jesus’ banished from NYT best seller list ~ I just mentioned David Limbaugh’s new book in last week’s “Shorts.” Already it’s sold thousands more that most of the other hard covers on the NYT print hardcover sales list and rightly should have been placed at No. 4. Let’s all get a copy and push it to No.1 – whether the Times acknowledges it or not!
