Another Islamist terror attack ~

Egypt’s Christians mourn 49 killed in Palm Sunday church bombings ~

Egypt’s Christians are in mourning and profound shock after yesterday’s twin suicide bombing attacks on churches packed for Palm Sunday, which left at least 49 people dead and more than 110 injured […]

The bombing in St. George’s Cathedral in the Nile Delta city of Tanta, 60 miles north of Cairo, killed at least 25 and injured at least 78, the state-run news agency, Al-Ahram, reported.

A suicide bomber then blew himself up among worshippers leaving St. Mark’s Cathedral in Alexandria, where Pope Tawadros had just finished celebrating Mass. Eighteen worshippers and four police officers were killed, and 35 were injured […]

Egypt-PalmSundaybombs1

A local Christian known as “Nehemiah”, who works to support Christians under pressure for their faith in Egypt, told World Watch Monitor he feared some Christians would be too scared to attend the daily church services that will take place throughout the rest of Holy Week.

He added: “One of the most joyful days for Christians in Egypt is Palm Sunday. To prepare for that day, parents buy palm leaves for children the day before and weave them together and decorate them with spring roses, so that children can carry them happily the next day to church and place them near the pulpit… But that joyful day turned into a painful tragedy.

“My soul is bitter and my spirit is crying in pain and agony. Lord have mercy on Egypt, Lord unveil the dark spirit of deception and show Your light, Lord help Your children to continue to be people with guts, courage and strong convictions, and may Your name be glorified even in the middle of death, pain and devastation.”

This is just the latest in Islamist attacks on Egypt’s Christian community as Raymond Ibrahim reports at FrontPage Mag ~

In death toll and severity, Sunday’s bombings surpass what was formerly considered the deadliest church attack in Egypt: less than four months ago, on Sunday, December 11, 2016, an Islamic suicide bomber entered the St. Peter Cathedral in Cairo during mass, detonated himself and killed at least 27 worshippers—mostly women and children—and wounded nearly 70. Descriptions of scenes from that bombing are virtually identical to those coming from Egypt now: “I found bodies, many of them women, lying on the pews. It was a horrible scene. I saw a headless woman being carried away. Everyone was in a state of shock. We were scooping up people’s flesh off the floor. There were children. What have they done to deserve this? I wish I had died with them instead of seeing these scenes.”

Egypt-PalmSundaybombs2

Horrific. And on it goes ~

It should be remembered that for every successful church bomb attack in Egypt, there are numerous failed or “too-insignificant-to-report” ones. Thus, in the week before yesterday’s bombings, an explosive device was found by St. George’s in Tanta and dismantled in time. Before that, another bomb was found planted at the Collège Saint Marc, an all-boys school in downtown Alexandria. Similarly, a couple of weeks before December 11’s church bombing, a man hurled an improvised explosive at another church in Samalout. Had that bomb detonated—it too was dismantled in time—casualties would likely have been very high, as the church was packed with thousands of worshippers congregating for a special holiday service. In a separate December incident, Islamic slogans and messages of hate—including “you will die Christians”—were painted on the floor of yet another church, that of the Virgin Mary in Damietta.

In the wake of these latest murders Egypt’s president called yet again for an end to the violence ~

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi declared three days of nationwide mourning and said a three-month state of emergency would begin once legal and constitutional measures have been completed.

Trying to maintain an uneasy peace, Sisi is relatively powerless against the radicals. There’s a civil war brewing for the soul of the country; fundamental Islamism vs. a more moderate, secular version, and – as we see all across the Middle East – the Christians all have targets on their backs.

Coptic Christianity was first planted in Egypt by St. Mark – of gospel fame – in the first century. Apparently the Religion-of-Barbarians (founded 500 years later) has decided that the Copts’ 2000 years in Egypt must now come to an end. They’re on a relentless jihad to replace a religion of sacrificial love and redemption with one of hate and destruction.

[Urgent Prayer] Palm Sunday Church Bombing in Egypt Kills at Least 42 ~

The deadly attack, occurring on Palm Sunday, is a reminder of the wickedness and violence many Christians face in Egypt and around the world. The powers of darkness are present, and Satan’s desire to wipe out every believer who bears the name of Christ is real […]

• Pray for the believers who’ve faced this terror first-hand and lost loved ones and close friends.
• Pray for justice. Pray that this terrible event will draw the attention of world leaders to focus more heavily on human rights and religious freedom in Egypt.
• Pray for the church in Egypt to be both comforted and strengthened in the midst of this senseless tragedy.

Saturday Shorts – 4-8-17

sshorts4-7-12

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Professor who refuses to use wrong pronouns coincidentally loses his first research grant ever ~ Another victim of the gender-bender police. Be warned, if you insist on clinging to reality, i.e., men aren’t women; neither are “zes,” your career may be adversely impacted ~

When (Jordan Peterson) received his last five-year grant for work previously approved by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, a government agency, it was “the largest amount ever awarded to a psychologist,” the National Post reports.

But the veteran University of Toronto professor, who became a pariah last year for refusing to use gender-neutral pronouns such as “ze,” just coincidentally got his first rejection ever for a federal research grant.

Québec’s Health Minister Wants to Euthanize Patients Alzheimer’s or Dementia ~ In our increasingly godless Western society, human life is expendable. Who are they coming for next?
Remember THIS poor woman, who lost her fight with the doctors of death.

German’s Furious as More Ancient Forests Felled to Make Way for Wind Turbines ~ Maybe they’ll get mad enough to chop down these ridiculous windmills ~

With rocketing power prices and an increasingly unstable grid, Germans are no longer content to sit back and allow their pristine landscape to be destroyed on the farcical notion that giant industrial wind turbines will, somehow, save the planet.[…]

In Germany forests are almost considered sacred, and are powerfully anchored into the German cultural psyche. Disturbing them is absolutely frowned upon, to put it mildly. This is all the more reason why Germans nationwide have been horrified by the mass deforestation taking place to make way for industrial wind parks.

Austin Forced Out Uber and Lyft – Now They’re Paying the Price ~ Another moment of enlightenment for progressives ~

“Fasten and RideAustin were granted practical access and spiritual absolution by the people of Austin because they boast about eschewing the very market forces that allow Uber and Lyft to work well, especially during a big event,” writes Mary Katherine Ham for the Federalist. “By only allowing access for ride-sharing services that act less like Uber and more like taxis, they got ride-sharing services that work less like Uber and more like taxis, whose failures are the very reason Uber and Lyft exist.”

Sigh. Reminds me of these naive SJWs(social justice warriors).

Judicial Watch Obtains 695 Pages of Obama IRS Scandal Documents – Records Not Produced in Initial Congressional Investigation ~ These files contain solid evidence that the IRS deliberately targeted conservatives in the run-up to the 2012 election to prevent them from working against Obama’s reelection ~

“No wonder the Obama IRS has been hiding these records. The new smoking-gun documents contain admissions by the Obama IRS that it inappropriately targeted conservative groups,” said Judicial Watch President, Tom Fitton. “But the records also show that the abuse continued – as the Obama IRS tried to force conservative applicants to give up their First Amendment rights in order to finally get their applications granted.”

Ho-hum. The Right was right again.

Mom: Son, 11, killed himself after girlfriend faked suicide ~ This is one of the most tragic tales I’ve heard recently (in what seems these days to be a constant stream of tragic tales). It happened three weeks ago here in Michigan, in the upper peninsula, but we’re only hearing about it since it made national news. Murder via social media

Charges are pending against a juvenile after a Michigan mother said a social media prank in which her 11-year-old son’s girlfriend faked her own suicide led the boy to take his own life.

Katrina Goss said Thursday that she found her son, Tysen Benz, hanging by the neck March 14 in his room after seeing social media posts and texts that his 13-year-old girlfriend had killed herself.

Hungary revolts against EU with “illegal immigration” survey called Let’s Stop Brussels ~ Another country heard from. Hungary is apparently not impressed with the cultural enrichment so many western European countries are experiencing ~

HUNGARY is in open revolt against the European Union’s immigration policy, with letters sent to every household asking if they want the government to place foreigners under surveillance.

STOCKHOLM (AP) — The syringe slides in between the thumb and index finger. Then, with a click, a microchip is injected in the employee’s hand. Another “cyborg” is created.

What could pass for a dystopian vision of the workplace is almost routine at the Swedish startup hub Epicenter. English Passion Play Changing Lives for Christ — Before It Opens ~ The transformative power of the Holy Spirit; with God all things are possible! ~

While still in rehearsals, it’s helped Christians renew their faith. Even Muslims have come to Christ […]

Director Geoff Millard called the play “an incredible experience.” The message affected him six years ago when he was an artistic director for the very same play but in another city. “It was being involved in doing the Passion in Bolton in 2011 that brought me to knowing God as my Savior.” He was an Anglican, he said, “but it opened my eyes. I had to read the Bible to understand the script. I learned how to pray fervently. I became a born-again Christian.” […]

The Passion is a place where people have gone who are emerging from a bad place in their lives. Many of the cast members have “come through unconventional backgrounds to their faith.” Two recovering alcoholics star in the show as Simon Peter and Mary Magdalene. A former prison inmate plays Simon Peter. Gillian Thomas, actress and playwright, plays Mary Magdalene. A 59-year-old salesman, Rob Slater, plays Jesus.

Is the climate changing on Climate Change?

Well this is a positive development… Donald Trump has been in office less than three months and already we’re seeing a government agency say this ➡ NOAA Study Admits It’s ‘Premature’ to Link Global Warming and Hurricanes.

How refreshing. Could it be that, seeing the direction the new administration is taking with regard to rolling back economy-killing environmental regulations, they’re rethinking the “settled” science?
 climatecoercionSmlr

Early on Trump made it clear that he wasn’t buying into the whole theory of impending doom advanced by the global warmists. On March 24th he approved the Keystone XL pipeline. And last week, in a move that has radical environmental types frothing, the president rolled back his predecessor’s unrealistic plan to unnecessarily “control” CO2 ~

With a sweeping executive order signed at EPA headquarters, Trump initiated an immediate review of the Clean Power Plan, which restricts greenhouse gas emissions at coal-fired power plants. Surrounded by coal miners, the president described that plan as a “crushing attack” on workers and vowed to nix “job-killing regulations.”

“We’re going to have safety, we’re going to have clean water, we’re going to have clean air, but so many [regulations] are unnecessary, so many are job-killing,” he said.

So yes, maybe NOAA sees which way the winds are blowing, so to speak. But their sudden, more moderate approach to extreme weather causation might have more to due with the fact that they themselves were recently caught cooking the climate books (This story from the UK Daily Mail would have been headline news here if our mainstream media wasn’t aiding and abetting the hoax.)! ~ Exposed: How world leaders were duped into investing billions over manipulated global warming data. This was quite an enlightening, in-depth article ~

• The Mail on Sunday can reveal a landmark paper exaggerated global warming
• It was rushed through and timed to influence the Paris agreement on climate change
• America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration broke its own rules
• The report claimed the pause in global warming never existed, but it was based on misleading, ‘unverified’ data

A high-level whistleblower has told this newspaper that America’s National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) breached its own rules on scientific integrity when it published the sensational but flawed report, aimed at making the maximum possible impact on world leaders including Barack Obama and David Cameron at the UN climate conference in Paris in 2015.
 climatealarmismsmlr
The report claimed that the ‘pause’ or ‘slowdown’ in global warming in the period since 1998 – revealed by UN scientists in 2013 – never existed, and that world temperatures had been rising faster than scientists expected. Launched by NOAA with a public relations fanfare, it was splashed across the world’s media, and cited repeatedly by politicians and policy makers.

But the whistleblower, Dr John Bates, a top NOAA scientist with an impeccable reputation, has shown The Mail on Sunday irrefutable evidence that the paper was based on misleading, ‘unverified’ data.

This scandal is just more evidence that in order to achieve their pre-determined results, global-warmists must use bad data, cherry-picking the facts. Because of course, they have an agenda to push ~

Official delegations from America, Britain and the EU were strongly influenced by the flawed NOAA study as they hammered out the Paris Agreement – and committed advanced nations to sweeping reductions in their use of fossil fuel and to spending £80 billion every year on new, climate-related aid projects.

The scandal has disturbing echoes of the ‘Climategate’ affair which broke shortly before the UN climate summit in 2009, when the leak of thousands of emails between climate scientists suggested they had manipulated and hidden data. Some were British experts at the influential Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.

Let’s hope these revelations, and Trump’s EPA, will keep these guys honest for the next few years.

Socialism ~ How to ruin a perfectly good country

In this recent video from Prager U, Felipe Moura Brasil, a journalist and magazine columnist, explains how poorly Brazil has fared under socialism, “American millennials, take note” ~

As Brasil relates, things were going along just fine in his native Brazil until Lula Da Silva came along in 2002. Promising to heal national divisions and unite everyone, Da Silva was the peace & love dude. (Peace & LoveHope & Change… Yes, the similarities are striking aren’t they?)

“Socialism” sounds good – and “always works in the beginning” Brasil says. And apparently it did, for a while. But ten years on…

• The Brazilian economy in a shambles
• There was massive unemployment, and;
• Political corruption on steroids
• The crime rate was soaring (remember last summer’s Olympics?)

On the bright side, it sounds like Brazilians have had enough of this nonsense. Lula, the peace & love president, has finally been charged with – among other things – corruption, influence-peddling and obstruction of justice. And reforms are underway, including (exactly what we need!) ~

• Freezing federal spending
• reduce the government’s role in state-owned companies
• shrinking federal workforce

If Trump can make some significant progress in just these three areas (and weren’t they all campaign promises?), perhaps the U.S. itself can stave off the wreckage of socialism for a few more years.

Spinning the low-information crowd with more anti-Trump propaganda

A couple weeks ago when the Trump administration released their proposed 2018 budget, lefties were so distraught the headlines may as well have been screaming “Trump steals from Meals on Wheels!” CBS went with: “Trump voter who uses Meals on Wheels surprised by proposed cuts.” Gasp! Given the fake news that the mainstream media has been burping out lately, none of us should be surprised anymore that that’s a deliberately deceitful headline.

CBS could have disabused that poor Trump voter of her misconception – but what fun would that be? The truth is, Meals on Wheels isn’t even a federal program. A simple way to verify that is to “google” the organization and check out the huge variety of logos ~

mealsonwheels
There are thousands of individual local programs across the country. Heck, “Meals on Wheels” isn’t even limited to the U.S.~

mealsonwheels-aus

If CBS was actually interested in the facts, they could have checked with Investors’ Business Daily and learned that what Trump’s budget does propose is…

… cutting the corruption-prone Community Development Block Grant program, run out of Housing and Urban Development. Some, but not all, state and local governments use a tiny portion of that grant money, at their own discretion, to “augment funding for Meals on Wheels,” according to the statement […]

As Meals on Wheels America explained, some Community Development Block Grant money does end up going to some of the local Meals on Wheels programs.

But it’s a small amount. HUD’s own website shows that just 1% of CDBG grant money goes to the broad category of “senior services.” And 0.17% goes to “food banks.”

(And for that insignificant amount, the media is predicting starvation for untold numbers of senior citizens across the country. 🙄 )

The 5,000 or so local Meals on Wheels programs get 35% of the revenues via the Older Americans Act Nutrition Program, which isn’t even mentioned in the proposed budget. And, as Anna L. Stark – who happens to volunteer at Meals on Wheels – explains at the American Thinker, the rest of the funding comes from local community budgets and donations ~

It’s important to note that not all MOW kitchens receive these funds, as I found out when I visited with the fund developer where I volunteer. As a matter of fact, the MOW kitchen in my city receives absolutely no community block grant funding. It does receive about 7% of its annual funding from a local non-profit community group that raises funds year round and then portions out those funds to numerous non-profits across the city. The rest (93%) of the MOW annual budget is derived from the direct sales of meals, private donors, corporate grants, food vendors (who donate food/funds or both), and an annual, local fund raising event during the December holiday season.

But despite the MSM stories being unrecognizable from the real truth of the matter, gullible low-information voters – many of whom are always quick to believe the worst about those evil Republicans (especially Trump) – fell for the Wheels’ spin. So much so that they flooded local programs with donations ~

As soon as the story started to spread, donations began pouring into Meals on Wheels. In two days, the charity got more than $100,000 in donations – 50 times more than they’d normally receive.

Was that the outcome the progressive media was aiming for all along? I doubt it. They aren’t really that goal-oriented. Their main focus is just to demonize the right. They don’t necessarily care about helping the needy (or they’d put more resources into teaching people to fish, not passing out cans of tuna). But the spontaneous contributions do demonstrate one very important principle, as IBD points out ~

Clearly, individuals are ready, willing and eager to support this program once they perceive a need. Isn’t this how charity is supposed to work, with people donating their own time, money and resources to causes they feel are important, rather than sitting back and expecting the federal government to do it for them?

That’s how it used to work in America anyway.

California pro-abortion AG attacks pro-life activist again

Apparently it’s pay-up time for Xavier Beccerra, California’s new attorney general. Last week Beccerra, who just so happened to have received thousands in campaign contributions from Planned Parenthood (in 2012 and 2014), leveled 15 felony counts against David Daleiden, the pro-life activist who exposed the abortion provider’s illegal peddling of fetal parts.

daviddaleiden2
This is clearly a case of political favoritism – and blatant persecution. Because when it comes to the law, as Jenna Ellis at the Federalist explains, CA prosecutors simply don’t have a case against Planned Parenthood whistleblowers.

Daleiden and co-worker Sandra Meritt (both with The Center for Medical Progress), are charged with invasion of privacy and conspiracy; neither allegation is legitimate according to Ellis, a constitutional law and criminal defense attorney, and a law professor at Colorado Christian University. Although Planned Parenthood personnel weren’t aware that their conversations were being recorded by undercover journalists, that doesn’t constitute a breach of law because they were representing a corporation ~

(T)he Ninth Circuit, whose jurisdiction includes California, has repeatedly affirmed that privacy is an individual right that cannot be asserted by a corporation. The Ninth Circuit recently held, “This common-sense notion that privacy is an aspect of one’s personal life is reflected in the law,” in a case that contemplated very similar facts: undercover journalists posing as were invited into the laboratories and administrative offices of a medical company and recorded the conversations without the company’s consent.

The Ninth Circuit noted that because the conversation did not involve any details about the doctor’s private and personal affairs, there was no reasonable expectation of privacy in the contents of the business conversation, even behind closed doors.

Furthermore, several meetings actually took place in restaurants, where no expectation of privacy could be assumed.

Beccerra must have just thrown the conspiracy charge out there to make Daleiden and Meritt sound like nefarious criminals; it’s nonsensical ~

(“Conspiracy”) requires conspiring to commit an act that is criminal. For example, you might “conspire” with a friend to throw a surprise birthday party. You and your friend would not be charged with criminal conspiracy because a surprise party is not a criminal act. If there was no underlying criminal conduct in recording Planned Parenthood, then there was no criminal conspiracy.

If you recall, this is not the first time Daleiden has been been unfairly targeted by aggressive progressives hellbent on eliminating any threat to their sacrament of abortion. The previous California Attorney General, Kamala Harris, shamelessly pandering to Planned Parenthood, actually raided his home last April. And in Texas, as I posted last year ~

Rather than prosecute Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast for exchanging human organs for “valuable consideration”, which just so happens to be a felony under both federal and Texas state law, a Houston grand jury decided in late January that David Daleiden of the Center for Medical Progress (the non-profit organization responsible for the revealing series of videos published last year) should be indicted instead!

He (and Meritt) was vindicated in both these cases – and will be again. But it’s a sad commentary of the sorry state of journalism in America today that this story is getting so little coverage in the mainstream media. As Matt Walsh reminds us, the fourth estate should actually have a glimmer of integrity ~

They are supposed to shine light into the darkness — the problem is that they usually focus on shining light into the light, or they turn the light off and just make up politically convenient stories about what’s happening in the darkness. Daleiden and his compatriots actually went into the darkness and turned on their flashlights. And now we’re seeing why that does take guts, and why most of the cowards who call themselves journalists would never consider doing it themselves. The forces that operate in the darkness don’t like to be exposed, and they have the means to punish any who attempt to do so. The media, most of the time, is aligned with these insidious forces. Daleiden went up against them, and now they’re trying to eat him alive for it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But David Daleiden is fearless and won’t be intimidated by pro-abortion politicians trying to bully him into shutting up and going away. The Center for Medical Progress just released the following video last Wednesday.
It’s truly shocking to see this woman casually laughing and joking as she talks about ending the lives of tiny humans. You decide who really needs to be prosecuted for breaking the law ~
Iraqi Prime Minister Reveals Striking ‘Difference’ He Noticed Between Trump & Obama on Fighting ISIS ~ Another development the mainstream media has totally ignored; wouldn’t want to tarnish the stellar legacy of the Nobel Peace Prize awardee ~
So now, there is just one very inconvenient problem for the “Russia hacked the election” narrative, the tireless media-Democrat harangue since November 8: Everything of substance that is known to the U.S. government about Russian meddling was already known in those pre-election weeks when Clinton and the Democrats were hailing the legitimacy of the process.
The Emergent Fund, which carries a goal of fighting “immediate threats” to “immigrants, women, Muslim and Arab-American communities, black people, LGBTQ communities, and all people of color,” was established late last year to quickly fund groups to take direct, immediate action against Republicans.
Since the fund’s formation, it has received little public attention. It has raised over half a million dollars to give to groups opposing Republicans, such as the Black Lives Matter Network. The fund has extensive ties to significant liberal networks and groups.
Meanwhile, in another part of the world…
Living conditions in Venezuela are growing ever grimmer ➡ Starving Venezuelans dying for eating poisonous yuca sold in black market. Desperate for anything to eat, people in the newly-created socialist paradise are ingesting one of the few staples still available and affordable in the starved nation. Unfortunately, there’s a poisonous variety of the yuca plant that’s deadly ~
The two roots (sweet – which is safe – and bitter, which isn’t) are almost undistinguishable, yet one is banned from the market because it contains a component – hydrocyanic acid – that becomes poisonous if not properly processed.
The difficulty to set them apart is taking lives. Unofficial reports count at least 29 yuca-related deaths since October, including a 2-year-old girl last week. Dozens have been intoxicated to different degrees […]
In 2015, Venezuelans predominantly bought flour, rice, bread and pasta, chicken and meat — all those now in the luxury category for the vast majority.
So the deadly yuca is a matter of great concern, especially because it is sold by untraceable unknowing individuals who are just trying to make a buck.
As Fox News reported last month, there’s so little to eat in the country that in 2016 Venezuelans actually lost 19 lbs. on average 😯 ~
The 2016 Living Conditions Survey (Encovi, for its name in Spanish), conducted among 6,500 families, also found that as many as 32.5 percent eat only once or twice a day — the figure was 11.3 just a year ago.
In all, 82 percent of the nation’s households live in poverty, the study found.
Venezuelans suffer shortages of the most basic goods, from food to medicine, amid triple-digit inflation and a nearly 80 percent currency collapse in the last year.
A whopping 93.3 percent told Encovi researchers that their income was not enough to cover their food needs, which would explain why Venezuelans are replacing red and white meat with vegetables and tubers, mainly potato, and other cheaper options.
What’s so tragic is the fact that this never would have happened but for Hugo Chavez and his totalitarian take-over of the country’s economy. As Ed Morrissey at Hot Air pointed out a few years back ~
Before Chavez, Venezuela was a successful petro-state with a significant middle class and stable economics. Then Chavez created a command economy, expropriated private property, and ruled by whim for most of his term as president/dictator. He managed that through brute force and a cult of personality, but his successor only has brute force to use.
As Castro destroyed the middle class in Cuba, Chavez – and now Nicolas Maduro – have essentially done the same in Venezuela.
Here at least is a positive development (which probably wouldn’t be happening under another Democrat administration – Barack Obama was one of Chavez’ biggest fans) ➡ Nations to Challenge Venezuela’s Authoritarian Regime ~
Fourteen nations including U.S., Mexico, and Canada will work together to restore Venezuela’s democracy. The joint effort of these countries will call on Nicolas Maduro’s government to return full powers to National Assembly, release political prisoners and bring back holding of regional elections that have not enjoyed today […]
(They intend to) submit the statement for a vote as a resolution at the Organization of American States. Members are asked to pass a resolution calling on Maduro’s government to permit elections and ease the clampdown on the opposition within 30 days, otherwise lost membership of the organization […]
The situation in Venezuela is getting worst. Suppression of dissent has escalated. Maduro’s government continues to imprison opposition leaders, indefinitely postponed gubernatorial elections and also scuttled a recall referendum by the opposition. While political situation has gone like these, Venezuela’s economy continued to shrink. The number of people getting poorer is surging. Other Latin American nations were shocked to know that many people in the oil-rich country spend their days searching for food in the garbage.
