Red State Values

A bright ray of hope amidst the Joplin tragedy: ‘Show Me State’ senior class looking out for Joplin.

Carthage, a small town in Missouri, is located about 15 miles northeast of Joplin. The Carthage High School class of 2011 had been planning on using their $12,000+ “Project Graduation” fund for a big celebration. Instead, they’ve chosen to donate the money to the victims of the recent storms.

Shelly Wilson is a counselor at the school, which is located only a few miles north of Joplin. She says the pupils knew what they wanted to do, even before the principal presented them their options…. The counselor explains that Christian service is an integral part of the culture in the Bible Belt community, so outreach comes naturally.

I’ll bet it’s no coincidence that the Carthage School district has a monthly “Do the Right Thing Award” as well as the “CharacterPlus Program” developed to “effectively teach our children how to work together to build good character”. The program’s mission statement:

To develop positive character traits in young people by providing a high quality character education process and resources to schools and communities.

God bless these kids!

Waiving away the Rule of Law

Sorry Comrade, we are not all equal under the law, as Michael Barone points out in his article on healthcare waivers: Obama skirts the rule of law to reward pals and punish enemies.

Would ya look at that; the most fervent supporters of ObamaCare are the ones getting the most waivers. No surprise though, because as Barack Obama said in a 2010 radio interview:

“We’re going to punish our enemies and we’re going to reward our friends who stand with us on issues that are important to us.”

 Yes – they – can.

If we no longer have the rule of law to protect us from the arbitrary whims of government elites, where are we headed? Just asking…

“Tolerate” anything?

So if the latest Gallup poll can be believed (almost a 10% swing in one year?), over 50% of Americans are just fine and dandy with homosexual marriage. Excuse me if I don’t throw a party (divorce and our hyper-sexual culture have already done enough damage to the American family). Apparently, God’s Word and the concept of eternity are now far less important than the horror of being judged “intolerant” by one’s friends and neighbors. It seems that pseudo-Christianity has eclipsed the real thing. We’re now embracing the warm and fuzzy “I’m OK; you’re OK” religion. (We may both be “OK” – but our behaviors and actions often are not.)

Just a couple problems with the pseudo version – there is an eternity, and God’s not that tolerant: The Truth of God’s Tolerance of Sin

As the controversy over gay marriage “rights” continues, we see the distinction between the two groups becoming more and more defined–with the pro-gay and the “religious right.” But what is happening is that many religious people are trying to span the chasm between the two by watering down the Word of God in the name of tolerance. People try to paint Jesus as a tolerant man. But the raw truth is that He wasn’t.

The Book of Revelation is full of Jesus’ intolerance for both the faux-Christian and the unbeliever. So please don’t bore me with your new-age, humanistic, relativistic, screw-ball beliefs on Jesus and God. The only people you are fooling are those who are walking the fence who wouldn’t know the Word of God from a quote in a fortune cookie.

Marcus does Vegas

Lloyd Marcus and his wife are some of our favorite Tea Party people. Check Lloyd out at Renew America, where he just posted about a radio-thon he co-hosted in Las Vegas -or at his own site.

Before leaving my hotel room for the radio station, I read an email from a black woman. “Mr Marcus, what is your tea party doing for African-Americans?” I thought to reply, “Absolutely Nothing!”

Why should we pandering to blacks, Hispanics or any other group? We are saving America for all Americans…period!

Then it dawned on me, we are doing something which will dramatically benefit “African Americans”. We are getting rid of Barack Obama in 2012.

A Military Tribute for Memorial Day

You can thank the troops on Memorial Day – or any day – at Let’s Say Thanks where Xerox provides a way for you to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas. Pick out a card design (selected from a pool of entries from children across the country) and add your own message to send a free personalized postcard greeting to deployed servicemen and women.

“Xerox is committed to helping people across the nation express their gratitude to our troops overseas. The launch of this program is aimed at reminding them how much Americans appreciate their service.”

Thanks Xerox!

Way past time to cut up your AARP card

Obamacare was forced on the U.S. in direct opposition to the wishes of the electorate – and AARP was right in the thick of things helping to push it through.
Well, well, well. Now we know why. And it’s got nothing to do with the best interests of senior citizens.
As Chuck Roger at American Thinker says: “We now have a clear picture of the treachery in which AARP has engaged since President Obama took office.” Check out his piece: AARP’s ObamaCare Endgame Revealed. First – there was AARP’s support for legislation that would actually be detrimental to their members –

Corporatism, or “crony capitalism,” takes many forms. For instance, when seniors began to catch on to the systemic health care damage that ObamaCare would cause, President Obama and congressional Dems feared disappearing senior political support. As I discussed last August, it is at such junctures that “the Halliburtons, BPs, attorney groups, SEIUs, and AARPs, which donate in return for political favors that funnel dollars into corporate bank accounts,” enter the picture. In crony capitalism, corporate entities fund misinformation campaigns that paint harmful government action as beneficial and shifty politicians as straight-up. In the case of ObamaCare, AARP leadership supported legislation which AARP members judged harmful and therefore rejected.

And now, AARP gets granted an exemption by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) – enabling them “to generate profits not achievable by (their) non-exempted competitors”. Blatantly unfair competition. Criminal actually, when you consider the adverse effects of Obamacare impact on AARP members.

Roger ends his piece with a question: “Where is the senior outrage?”
But how can they get outraged when they don’t ever hear about it? This is just one more story the national media will totally ignore.

Nightmares from his father

Who knew?

According to recently secured documents from the Immigration and Naturalization Services, evidence has emerged that President Obama’s father, Barack Obama, Sr., apparently paid to send a young Kenyan girl he had impregnated in Massachusetts to London to have an abortion.

This was in 1964. And the baby who never got born would have been the President’s half-brother or sister. With his piece “The nearly aborted president” Peter Heck at One News Now, suggests hopefully that perhaps this revelation will cause Obama to reconsider his pro-choice position. I think anyone who believes “baby” = “punishment” is pretty twisted, and probably not easily swayed by the Truth (Guess the acorn didn’t fall far from the tree).
Although we can certainly pray for a conversion.

Refuting Man-made Global Climate Change

Case Smit and John Smeed are two Australian retirees with business backgrounds in science and engineering who have launched a new site – The Galileo Movement – aiming to counter Global Climate Change hype with the facts. They’re anxious to get the truth out because we’re at the point where this issue has been so politicized that;

…ideology seeks to replace science and control seeks to replace freedom…
The key to ending corruption of science and politicised misappropriation of public funds is to reach out to people directly by enabling people to discover climate reality themselves.

The Galileo Movement is geared to Aussie politics and that country’s specific “crap & tax” schemes, but it’s certainly applicable to the entire western world, as our elites increasingly attempt to punish us on the basis of malevolent pseudo-science.

Sounds like a plan!

Dear President Obama:

I am writing today with a somewhat unusual request. Actually, it is a series of requests. First and foremost, I will be asking that you return America to its August 20th, 1959 borders so that Hawaii is no longer a state and you are no longer a citizen…

Read the rest: Time for America to Roll Back Its Borders

Thanks for the chuckles Mike! I actually stopped banging my head against the wall for a few minutes 😀

In Egypt’s “Arab Spring” the only thing growing is persecution of the Copts

Yes, apparently as the weather warms up in the Middle East so does “Open Season” on Christians.

The Christians living in Egypt identify themselves as Coptic Christians (“Coptic” means “Egyptian”).
GotQuestions.org provides the following information on the denomination:

Coptic Christianity originated in the city of Alexandria, and acknowledges John Mark, (author of the Gospel of Mark) as their founder and first bishop sometime between A.D. 42 – A.D. 62. The Coptic Church was actually involved in the very first major split in the Church, well before there was such a thing as “Roman” Catholicism, and it was also well before the East/West split…

Today, there is a small population of Coptic Christians remaining in Alexandria, but most are located elsewhere. Estimates of the current population of the Coptic Church range from 10 million to 60 million members worldwide. Theologically, Coptic Christianity is very similar to Roman Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. They profess to be genuine followers of Jesus Christ and a part of His worldwide Church. As with Catholicism, they tend to emphasize meritorious works in salvation along with liturgical ritual more than salvation through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

And from the UK Guardian:

Coptic Christianity dates back to the first couple of hundred years after the lifetime of Christ. The people who converted to Christianity were the ancient Egyptians, as well as Jewish, Greek and Roman inhabitants of Egypt. This is even clearer when alongside the art of Coptic Egypt you consider the Coptic language preserved in ancient papyri and manuscripts and still used in the Coptic liturgy today…

This culture has the right to respect, protection and a political voice in the new Egypt. It can claim to be the most Egyptian culture of all.

The Islamofascists don’t need to be bothered with all this information though. All they need to know about the Copts is that they’re Christians, translation: Infidels.

And so we get this: Burning and looting churches

And this: Converts to Christianity fleeing for their lives (Because of course, while Christians are bad- Muslims who convert to Christianity are worse.)

And even this: Coptic girls “disappearing”

Maybe it’s just a “Spring Thing”? Gardeners in the West pull weeds; Muslims in the Middle East weed out Christians?
Probably not; Jihad appears to be an all-season activity.

As Islamic groups — “Salafis” and others — are emboldened by the lack of challenges they have encountered in the wake of the revolution, there will only be more stories like this.

Especially when Barack HUSSEIN Obama wants to give Egypt $2 Billion more of our tax dollars!
From Investors’ Business Daily:

He’s planning to reward Egypt with an economic package of direct aid, debt relief and export credits — on top of the billions of dollars in aid we already give the nation. He says it will help stabilize a flowering democracy there.
But what if it helps finance the ethnic cleansing of 10% of Egypt’s population? The blood will be on Obama’s hands.
Until Egypt stops attacks on its Christian citizens, it deserves not one more dime in U.S. aid.

Amen!
