“Dalai Lama” – rhymes with “Obama”

I guess the Dalai Lama felt compelled to remind us once again that he’s a Marxist.

In speaking to a group of students in Minnesota last week, the Dalai Lama cleared up any uncertainty regarding his political views. “…As far as socio-political beliefs are concerned, I consider myself a Marxist,” he told the audience.

Yes, Marxism, that warped ideology that has killed untold millions and continues to repress millions more. That bankrupt philosophy that encourages a ruthless elite class to trample the rest of humanity into submission. My, what an enlightened fellow. And how easy it must be for him to toss off pretentious pronouncements from his lofty perch. Safe on the isolated heights afforded by his exalted position, he remains untouched by the misery and poverty inflicted on lesser unenlightened people.

As Selwyn Duke at RenewAmerica puts it:

A man of authentic faith seeks Truth and doesn’t deny reality, either the moral variety or the physical (“Am I a man who dreamt he was a worm or a worm dreaming he is a man?!”). The reality here, though, is that the Dalai Lama is, like Gandhi, just another overrated Eastern spiritual leader whom elites glom onto because he is quite liberal and not Western.

For Mr. Lama the Buddhist philosophy apparently integrates nicely with Marxism. Christianity (and Judaism) does NOT:

No Bible verses allowed

What a shocker: “Scripture verses too much for California school”.
Yes, rather than allow Bible verses on the paver bricks they sold as a fundraiser for new walkways, Palm Dessert High School just decided to nix the whole project.
Because after all;

The mission of the Desert Sands Unified School District, a dynamic system of challenging educational choices, is to ensure that every student develops the knowledge, skills and motivation to succeed as a productive, ethical, global citizen by assuring equal access to student-centered learning provided by caring, committed, collaborative staff working in partnership with our families and diverse communities.

And we can certainly see how these scripture verses would have a detrimental effect on such a lofty mission statement:

Any absolutes would threaten their beloved “diversity”, but then how do they define “ethical”? What mush.

I think they should engrave this on the school’s front door:

In my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed… No truth is more evident to my mind that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.

Saturday Shorts 6.11.11

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

What, Me Worry? Young Adults Get Self-esteem Boost From Debt ~ Further proof that most college campuses are reality-free zones.
(I guess 14 Trillion in U.S. debt should make us feel… like a TRILLION bucks!)

Chicago Police Brace for ‘Flash Mob’ Attacks ~ Might want to put off that getaway weekend to Chicago for a while.

Teach kids self-control, say NZ experts ~ It takes “experts” to re-discover common sense? (Too bad no one taught the Chicago Flash Mobs self-control…guess it would have been too damaging to their self-esteem.)

Weight of book collection damaging house ~ Whoa – I thought I had a lot of books!

Eric Whitacre: A virtual choir 2,000 voices strong ~ Very unique and inspiring. The “virtual choir” sings around the 12 minute mark on the video, but listening to Eric describe the project is well worth the time.

This is what passes for “education” in California?

Many of our good friends and family members are teachers and former teachers – wonderful people. As far as I know, all of them are decent, hard-working individuals, who sincerely care about helping kids. Which is why I’m happy to report, I didn’t see pictures of any of them in this photo-essay by Zombie:
How a Teachers’ Rally Made Me Anti-Education.

This article is a thoroughly depressing illustration of the current state of mis-education in California’s schools. The socialist indoctrination of these children is truly appalling. Young, unformed minds which – instead of learning the truth about history and ideology – are being taught to agitate, demonstrate, demand, demonize the rich, hate capitalism, in short, to become little miserable Marxist mobsters.

Zombie is a reformed “brain-dead liberal” whose (“reluctantly”) proposed solution to the problem may seem rather extreme:

The only way to break the stranglehold that leftists have on public schools is not to get rid of the leftists (which is impossible) but to get rid of the public schools. And how can we get rid of them? By making them so terrible that no parents in their right minds would allow their children to attend. And how can we accelerate the decline of public schools (beyond the atrocious decline already caused by the progressive masters)? By letting their funding dry up. Simple.

But if the situation is really as bad as it appears to be, maybe he’s on to something.

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old,

he will not depart from it. ~ Proverbs 22:6

Abolishing the family

In her book, “The World Turned Upside Down”, Melanie Phillips quoted from the Gay Liberation Front manifesto:

“We must aim at the abolition of the family”, which was founded upon the “archaic and irrational teachings” of Christianity.

This was in 1979. It’s taken a few decades, but the GLF’s recent progress toward this goal has been astounding.

In the U.S. the anti-God/ anti-family agenda has been promoted in our schools since at least 1964 when the Sex Information and Education Council of the United States was established. Of course in the 60’s there was an urgent need for this organization because, after thousands of years of human civilization, we suddenly knew nothing about sex. Right. What the Council really wanted to do, as Phillips says, was to support ideas such as merging or reversing sex roles, to liberate children from their parents and to abolish the traditional family. So began the indoctrination. And now,

Teachers piously invoke the doctrines of individual autonomy and choice to justify their refusal to teach children that sexual continence and marriage are better or more moral that the alternatives, but they have had no such reservations about bombarding children with sex education materials that proselytize for sexual freedom, abortion and the normalcy of same-sex marriage.

In Toronto things have gotten so bad that parents can no longer exempt their kids from the government’s anything-goes-sex indoctrination – Toronto school board: Parents can’t opt kids out of pro-homosexual curriculum:

The school board’s curriculum on “equity” for homosexuals, called ‘Challenging Homophobia and Heterosexism’, says parents cannot have their children removed from “human rights education” because of religious reasons…

Religious freedom, they write further, “is not absolute” and religious accommodation in the school board “is carried out in the larger context of the secular education system.”

(Yikes! And they call the Tea Party “Nazis”?!)

I’m afraid that if Canada’s gone that far toward the “abolition of the family”, America won’t be far behind. Great eh?

On the Edge…

Anyone who’s not an MSM financial talking head knows that far from recovering any time soon, our economy is edging ever so closer to collapse. Michael Snyder at Hawai’i News Daily has thoughtfully listed what he considers are 10 potential tipping points – so we’ll know exactly when to panic I guess: 10 Tipping Points Which Could Potentially Plunge The World Into A Horrific Economic Nightmare.

The foundations of the world economic system are so decayed and so corrupted that even a stiff breeze could potentially topple the entire structure over. Over the past couple of months a constant parade of bad economic news has come streaming in from Europe, Asia and the United States. Signs of an impending economic slowdown are everywhere. So what “tipping point” will trigger the next global economic downturn?

Here’s his list:

• Syria
• Iran
• Libya
• More Revolutions In The Middle East
• Fukushima
• Oil Prices
• Government Austerity
• The European Sovereign Debt Crisis
• The Dying U.S. Dollar
• Drought

Check the article for specifics.

Mr. Snyder also posted another cheery piece today: The Coming Economic Hell For American Families.

Gee, thanks Mike! (Caution: spending too much time at Hawai’i News Daily may result in the need for massive doses of anti-depressants. Hmmm… maybe that’s why this site feels the need to legalize drugs 🙁 )

Darwinism devolving further

Charles Darwin hit upon on his grand theory of evolution after observing physical changes in finches on the Galapagos Islands. He was witnessing what is now known as natural selection, adaptive changes within a species. Each species’ genetic code allows for adaptations to changes in an organism’s environment (What an awesome Designer we have!).

The problem with Darwin’s theory is that DNA isn’t able to add genetic information to itself. In fact natural selection typically results in a loss of information – but nothing new. Not ones to let facts get in the way of their presuppositions, Neo-Darwinians decided that evolution must somehow occur due to mutations. Well that idea’s not panning out either because the accumulation of mutations always decreases fitness. This process, is called “genetic entropy.” – Genetic Entropy Confirmed.

This post at Creation/Evolution Headlines is fairly heavy in technical jargon but even I, scientifically challenged as I am, can get the gist of it:

Most mutations are nearly neutral and invisible to natural selection, as Sanford (a geneticist at Cornell) explained in detail in his book. Because they are not eliminated by purifying selection, they therefore accumulate in the genome, dragging it into genetic entropy. Mutations are not good material for natural selection.

D-Day June 6, 1944

Here’s a good post by Flopping Aces which re-caps of the D-Day Invasion, and stresses the importance of preserving the truth in history – both good and bad – so progressive media-types can’t rewrite it.

Time to put Babs on the bus to the retirement home

So Barbara Walters, co-host of “The View”, thinks Sarah Palin’s bus tour has the moral equivalency of Anthony Weiner’s sexting episode. From the Daily Caller –
Barbara Walters: If Palin ‘can ride around on her bus,’ Weiner can stay in Congress:

(Walters) argued if Palin can make a bus tour and be considered viable for the presidency, then Weiner can get away with this and continue to be a sitting congressman.

Amazingly, even the generally clueless Joy Behar wasn’t buying the analogy:

“Let me defend Sarah for 30 seconds,” Behar protested. “The woman has no sex scandal in her dossier, in her arsenal. This is a completely different thing from Sarah Palin. And I want to defend her here.”

Well Behar, I’d like to be joyful at your stand, but it’s probably just an anomaly. The truth is, Weiner’s antics, and every similar disgusting episode that we’re subjected to, chip away at the moral foundation of our country. Because no matter how many media elites we hear feigning outrage, there are always a few voices asking “what’s the big deal?” Over time, “what’s the big deal?” is picked up by more and more of the libertines, until it becomes a drumbeat. Society slowly wearies of defending traditional morality. Eventually, behaviors we once believed were deviant become “normal”. The cycle repeats.
And pretty soon we’re all on the Non-judgmental, Totally Depraved, Amorality Bus.

“Religion and good morals are the only solid foundation of public liberty and happiness.”

Be still and know…

God Is God by Steven Curtis Chapman

Listen to this, O Job;
Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.
Do you know when God dispatches them,
And causes the light of His cloud to shine?
Do you know how the clouds are balanced,
Those wondrous works of Him
who is perfect in knowledge?
~ Job 37:14-16 ~
