No more funding for “Snowflakes?”

“I’ve got two daughters, 9 years old and 6 years old. I am going to teach them first of all about values and morals. But if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.

Then-Senator Obama’s declaration in April 2008 stunned many of us at the time he made it – the idea of a precious new life being a “punishment” was rather shocking. Unfortunately too many voters either agreed with him – or simply thought it was just an awkward choice of words.

Yet in view of his actions over the past few years, this may have been one of the more honest statements the man has ever uttered – in public anyway.

In fact, the president seems determined to prevent anyone from being “punished” with a baby. Consider the administration’s “anti-life” actions:

• Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican (all of whom the Vatican rejected);

• The new health care rules will override religious conscience protections for medical workers in the areas of abortion and contraception;

• Taxpayers are now forced to fund pro-abortion groups that either promote or perform abortions in other nations;

• Employers will now be forced to provide insurance that includes “free” birth control” including the morning-after pill.

President Obama has consistently supported embryonic stem-cell research and even partial-birth abortion.

So as disappointing as the latest news is, it comes as no surprise: Obama defunds ‘snowflake babies.’

The Embryo Adoption Awareness Campaign was begun under the George W. Bush administration as a means to prevent the destruction of “extra” frozen embryos. Also referred to as the “snowflake baby” program (each child is unique, like a snowflake), it provided funding for adoption-awareness programs for the children who were formerly stored human embryos.

The federal government has funded embryo-adoption awareness since 2002 in response to the furor over stem-cell research, which destroys the embryos in the process of culling them for the stem cells.

President Bush steadfastly vetoed legislation opening up federal funding for research on new stem-cell lines and instead touted embryo adoption as a choice for couples with “extra” frozen embryos.

“The children here today remind us that there is no such thing as a spare embryo,” Mr. Bush said at a 2005 White House event with “snowflake” children and their families.

“These lives are not raw material to be exploited, but gifts,” he said pointedly.

Snowflake babies were certainly “gifts”
– and blessings –
to these people ➡

“Miracle” babies!

How many Americans are even aware of these precious “Snowflakes? Is the $2 million that’s allocated annually for embryo-adoption awareness program really something that needs to be slashed from the budget? That figure is a drop in the bucket compared to the $1 million a day that Planned Parenthood gets!

And what does this funding disparity say about Obama’s character – and that of his Leftist minions?

As Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ), one of the strong proponents of the pro-life program, stated:

“Assertions that leftover embryos are better off dead so that their stem cells can be derived is dehumanizing and cheapens human life. There is no such thing as leftover human life. Ask the snowflake children— cryogenically frozen embryos who were adopted—their lives are precious and priceless.”

Why would anyone would prefer to destroy an embryo for non-promising research, rather than welcome a new baby into the world?

Sadly, it seems that Sasha and Malia have already been “punished” – by having a father who places such little value on human life.

Founding Wisdom [Flouted by the Foolish]

“The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God, and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If ‘Thou shalt not covet’ and ‘Thou shalt not steal’ were not commandments of Heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free.”

Whack-a-Drone #10

Here is another cogent, concise and convincing
example of the rightness of Conservatism.
Whack your favorite drone(s) with the TRUTH:

[There’s a high probability it won’t penetrate their thick
armor of denial – but hey, it’s worth a shot.]

Here’s where the Progressive’s destructive policies are taking us, from a recent editorial in California’s Orange County Register: “Golden State on road to Greece, by way of Detroit” ~

…high taxes are needed to pay for leftist policies that interject government into private life, while heaping generous benefits on government workers who do the interjecting. Progressives, as they like to call themselves, seem oblivious to Big Government’s damage.

We have a glimpse of where this leads. It’s called Detroit.

Detroit is where “all the major economic planks of the statist or ‘progressive’ platform have been enacted,” writes Jarrett Skorup of the Mackinac Center. “A ‘living wage’ ordinance, far above the federal minimum wage, for all public employees and private contractors. A school system that spends significantly more per pupil than the national average. A powerful school employee union that militantly defends the exceptional pay, benefits and job security it has won for its members. Other government employee unions that do the same for their members. A tax system that aggressively redistributes income from businesses and the wealthy to the poor and to government bureaucracies.”

Sound like California? What has all this done for Detroit, “dubbed the most liberal city in America”? Detroit in 1950 was America’s wealthiest city on a per capita income basis. Today it’s the second-poorest major city.

“[I]t is striking that the decline in per capita income is exactly what classical economists predict would occur when wage controls are imposed and taxes are increased,” Skorup writes.

Despite progressivism’s poisoned fruits on display, what does California do? Recent headlines trumpeted proposed tax increases of billions, additional “rights” for state government workers and clamoring for more tax subsidies for education and health care and, let us not forget, Gov. Jerry Brown’s desire to squander billions on a high-speed train no serious analyst says can operate profitably, if it can even be built for its estimated $98.5 billion.

Stuck on stupid.

Rally for Rush!

Update 3-7-12: Visit I Stand With Rush ~ Media Research Center’s petition and advertiser contact info.
~~~~~~~~~~~
The Gestapo arm of the Leftist Party is trying to take down America’s strongest conservative voice. It’s time to stand up to their lies, threats and intimidation.
Helping lead the charge against the speech police is Jeffrey Lord @ the American Spectator. His weapon of choice is always the most effective; the Truth:
About Sandra Fluke ~
As a student at Cornell and treasurer of a pro-choice organization at the school, Sandra Fluke, helped shut down a pro-life speech on Cornell’s campus by counter protesting. She argued that a pro-life organization at Cornell was about “manipulating [students’] emotions” with misleading statistics about abortion. But when it is her turn to speak on Capitol Hill, the third-year Georgetown Law Student demands she gets her say in a hearing that has nothing to do with birth control.
And about the left-leaning companies who have pulled their sponsorship from Limbaugh’s show:
Carbonite’s CEO, David Friend is a real friend to the radical left ~
Here’s the list of just where David Friend spends his political money:
MoveOn.org, America Coming Together and Democracy for America, all three listed here as George Soros funded groups, the latter set up by Howard Dean. Texans for Truth also drew Mr. Friend’s support. This group, according to Wikipedia, was set up by MoveOn.org spin-off Drive Democracy.org in 2004. Why? To… wait for it… challenge then-President Bush’s service in the Texas National Guard. The precise same stunt for which CBS fired Dan Rather after documents were discovered to have been forged.
Sleep Number ~
Sleep Number’s CEO Bill McLaughlin, Sleep Number being a product of a company called Select Comforter? That appears to be the same “William McLaughlin” who identified himself to the FEC as being with Select Comforter of Minneapolis — when he contributed to the same Soros-funded “America Coming Together” as Mr. Friend.
Legal Zoom. Two of the four guys running the company ~
Mr. Brian Liu is recorded as giving tens of thousands of dollars to two Obama campaign outlets, including the Obama Victory Fund 2012. Brian Lee gives his bucks to the Democratic National Committee Services Corporation. Did I mention Mark Templeton of Citrix gave Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign $2,300?
Considering the organizations they support, Rush’s listeners probably shouldn’t have been enriching the coffers of these companies to begin with.
What should we be doing?
~ First check out Lord’s 3-5-12 article, as well as today’s up-date: A Nation of Breitbarts Rallies for Rush. Included are names and contact information for the companies who have pulled advertising from Rush’s show.
This fraudulent Fluke campaign is not about a slang term for a promiscuous woman.
It’s not about consequence-free taxpayer-funded sex.
It’s not about a disingenuous 30 year-old political activist/law student.
It’s not even about Rush.
It’s about the First Amendment:
Congress shall make no law respecting an [a] establishment of religion, or [b] prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievance.
And ultimately, it’s about whether or not we’re willing to stand up to the tyranny that’s trying to void those rights.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After the numbing shock of 9-11, it wasn’t until Rush Limbaugh was back on the air several days later that I finally felt a sense of calm. Somehow just hearing his steadying voice, I knew America was going to be OK. That we’d go on to recover from that tragedy.

Even if you don’t listen to Rush regularly you surely realize that he’s inspired hundreds thousands of other torch-bearers for the conservative movement. We can’t let the radical Left shut Rush – or US – down!

People Who Hate People

So… has anyone heard a peep from President Obama about the devastating storms that ripped through the country’s mid-section last week….hmmm….?

In all, the deadly tornadoes killed at least 39 people across five states —
21 in Kentucky, 13 in Indiana, three in Ohio and one each in Alabama
and Georgia. Three separate EF-3 tornadoes tore through 46 of
Kentucky’s 120 counties, injuring 300. [Source: Baptist Press]

Nada. Yet somehow POTUS found the time to call Sandra Fluke and express his support for her theatrical pleas for free contraception. What a guy. Certainly shows you where the man’s heart and mind are.

While speaking at an AFP conference in January about the climate change hoax, Ann McElhinney made an observation that pretty much sums up what’s behind most Leftists ideology: “They hate people.”

Seriously. Consider the evidence; they care more about free birth control than the lives of their fellow human beings ~

• Between, abortion, birth control rights, and the morning-after pill, they want to prevent more of us from being born.

• Life is no longer sacred to them; they can’t seem to make the moral distinction between the destruction of a couple books – and the murder of innocents.

• They frequently display callous indifference – even maliciousness – to human tragedies. For instance;

Hard -left sentiment was on full display last week following the death of Andrew Breitbart, who leaves behind a wife and four young children. Here’s just a sampling of the vitriol:

Slate’s Matt Yglesias (@mattyglesias), who tweeted: “Conventions around dead people are ridiculous. The world outlook is slightly improved with @AndrewBrietbart dead.”

@darrenfiorello: “Andrew Breitbart died? Is it wrong that I’m happier about that than when they got bin Laden and Saddam?”

Josh M ‏ @TheSocialest: “Good riddance Breitbart. Hopefully they put James O’Keefe in your casket.”

Guess that’s the “new civility.” [More HERE if you’ve got the stomach for it]

And then there’s the unbelievably wretched Mike Malloy, a talk show host on Sirius XM radio. Here’s what he had to say on March 2nd as the storms were still tearing through the South:

Their God … keeps smashing them into little grease spots on the pavement in Alabama, and Mississippi, and Arkansas, and Georgia, and Oklahoma,” Malloy says in his broadcast from Friday. “You know, the Bible belt, where [in a mocking voice] they ain’t gonna let no goddamned science get in the way, it says in the Bible, blah blah blah blah blah. So, according to their way of thinking, God with his omnipotent thumb reaches down here and so far tonight has smashed about 20 people into a grease spot on highway 12, or whatever the hell highway they live next to.

[Source: The Blaze – audio clip]

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Glad that, by God’s grace, I’m going to heaven. Hell will be filled with people who hate people – like Malloy.
Feminism, Floozies and a Fluke
During Lent this year my devotional companion is the “Gargoyle Code” by Fr. Dwight Longenecker. Subtitled: “Lenten letters between a master tempter and his diabolical trainee,” the book’s theme is borrowed from C.S. Lewis’s classic “The Screwtape Letters.”
In Longenecker’s contemporary version, “Slubgrip” is advising and educating novice demon “Dogwart” in the fine art of ensnaring souls.
Considering temptation from the other side of the fence, so to speak, makes us realize that it’s not always willfully doing wrong that gets us into trouble. More often we just get distracted with the business of day-to-day living, and don’t step back and look at the big picture. Like sponges we absorb the often destructive viewpoints of contemporary society, seldom noticing how far they may be tempting us from God’s word.
Subtlety is “Slubgrip’s” favorite weapon.
In light of the mainstream media’s endless propaganda coverage of the Sandra Fluke “I’m-not-a-floozie” farce – otherwise known as “Subsidize my promiscuity!” I found last Friday’s entry especially timely.
Here are a couple excerpts – on the cultural fallout from feminism…
Dogwart,
One of the greatest strokes of genius in our work was to call the movement feminism when there is nothing feminine about it. Nothing gratifies me more than to see some of our most pleasing female humans squawking about feminism while sporting tattoos, butch haircuts, wearing overalls, and clodhopper boots…
…The first step of indoctrination is to show the females that they have been repressed and abused by men throughout human history. They have been forced to stay at home “barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen.” We never allow them to see that for most women throughout history staying at home in the kitchen was the soft option. While they stayed at home, their men were out doing back-breaking work and risking their lives in the factories, the mines, the farms and the fields of battle.
They must see that the invention of artificial contraception is what liberated the females. We show them that it gave them reproductive freedom. It is a short hop from there to get them to see that they have sexual choices. From this point we neatly insert the illusion that the modern female can choose whoever she wants to have sex with whenever she wants it. If the silly blonde doesn’t actually want sex very often, we have a wide range of messengers from movie stars, pop singers and magazine editors who will convince her that something is wrong, and that if she isn’t a virtual nymphomaniac she is unhealthy and abnormal.
Our most successful cases will therefore have sexual relations with any man who shows even the smallest amount of interest in her. She’ll behave as, what her great grandmother would have called, a “common slut,” all the time proud of her sexual freedom.
We are aware that if we get the females to behave his way they will actually be disgusted with themselves, and be unhappy. You see, unlike the males, they don’t really want endless, meaningless sexual encounters. They want what the enemy wants them to want: a permanent, meaningful relationship. So when they become unhappy, instead of blaming themselves for their loose behavior, we get them to blame the male. Part of feminist theory is that the bad guys are the guys. We get them to believe that men, just by being men, oppress women…
…There is a whole genre of self-help literature out there for the females which bemoans the fact men are “afraid of commitment” and when they walk out on the girl they are abandoning her and abusing her in a different way. It never occurs to the little vixen that the man might walk out on her because she is a slut, and he’s looking for something better.
These “strategies” work especially well on agnostics; who may believe in heaven, but certainly not in hell. As long as they’re being subjectively good for goodness’ sake, they really don’t need to seriously consider the anemic nature of their worldview.
Today’s morally relative environment offers extremely fertile ground for the seeds of temptation. And most of us are oblivious to the fact that it even is temptation.
This whole sorry episode is a charade – orchestrated to convince the public that right-wing radio hosts are evil and floozies should be totally free from the consequences of their own loose behavior.
The Amazing Accomplishment of Henry Knox
During the winter of 1775-76 Boston was firmly in control of the British. George Washington was determined to break their hold but was running out of time, funds and manpower. Deliverance came in the unlikely form of a 300 lb. former Boston bookseller: Henry Knox.
Volunteering for service at the Battle of Bunker Hill (June 1775), and now Washington’s chief of the artillery corps, the resolute Knox was tasked with transporting heavy cannon from recently-captured Fort Ticonderoga in New York, all the way to Boston, in the midst of a cold and snowy winter. He was undaunted by the challenge.
On boats across Lake George, over mountains, through swamps, back and forth across the Hudson River (4 times), Knox and his men moved 120,000 lbs of artillery 300 miles in 40 days – an awesome accomplishment!
Several weeks after the canons arrived, reinvigorated and reinforced with additional troops, working through the night of March 2nd, 1776, Washington’s rag-tag army hauled the guns into place on Dorchester Heights overlooking Boston. On the morning of March 3rd the Redcoats awoke to find almost 60 big guns trained down on the town. A British officer, astounded by the sight, credited the night’s work to “the genie belonging to Aladdin’s wonderful lamp.”
While the British formulated plans to deal with this looming threat a sudden storm sprang up. Opting not to push their luck, within days they had boarded their fleet and sailed from the port of Boston.
Henry Knox’s steadfast and noble train of artillery, had led to the first major victory of the Revolutionary War.
The Chink in the Atheist Armor
During a recent debate at Oxford University, Professor Richard Dawkins (video HERE) – everyone’s favorite atheist – admitted that on a non-belief scale of 1 to 7 he’s only a high 6. In other words – he’s hedging his bets.
While his tone in this particular clip is less caustic than usual, Dawkins still projects that tone of arrogant intellectual superiority common to so many atheists. He assumes a monopoly on “reason” – yet his worldview is ultimately illogical, because it’s inconsistent with reality. Consider for a moment, if we all lived as if there were no God (no creation, no fall, no redemption, no eternity) what sort of civilization would emerge? With everyone just doing, you know… “whatever?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

If the dead do not rise, “Let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

~ 1 Corinthians 15:32 ~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Having knocked down all religious “guardrails,” the atheists’ fallback position has to be “Be good for goodness’ sake.” Good luck with that.
Well, at least Dawkins is reluctantly willing to consider the possibility that there’s an ever-so slight chance he could be wrong. Fellow-traveler Jürgen Habermas seems to concede even more. [Who? I know – I’d never heard of him either. That’s because we’re not pseudo-intellectual Europhiles…]
Professor Habermas is a German sociologist and philosopher with a penchant for Marx, Nietzsche and Freud. He’s one of those really smart people with too much time on their hands, endlessly pondering the meaning of life; “thinkologists,” who are always inventing new “isms” to describe our wacky human behaviors and beliefs. After decades of trying to reconcile reality with various convoluted world views, old Jürgen has actually come to realize that…
“Christianity, and nothing else, is the ultimate foundation of liberty, conscience, human rights, and democracy, the benchmarks of Western civilization. To this day, we have no other options… We continue to nourish ourselves from this source. Everything else is postmodern chatter.”
(Source: Happy Easter Jürgen @ To the Source)
So maybe even Dawkins will eventually arrive at the truth…
Darwin’s most prominent living advocate, Richard Dawkins, has admitted he wouldn’t want to live in a country operating by natural selection. He prefers living in a nominally Judeo-Christian society, one that still believes in the rule of law based on unchanging ethics, that grants him the freedom to operate his business of undermining the Judeo-Christian world view.
(Source: When Ethics “Evolve,” Beware @ Evolution News & Views)
No matter how much atheists would like to bypass historical realities and draft their own blueprints for human civilization, the fact remains that the nearer a society comes to following God’s plans for mankind, the more humane, compassionate, law-abiding, civil and prosperous it becomes. That’s the hole in their philosophy that intellectually honest atheists can’t ignore.
“Fight the Man”
Andrew Breitbart ~ 1969-2012 ~ R.I.P.
From the “Bigs” ~
With a terrible feeling of pain and loss we announce the passing of Andrew Breitbart. Andrew passed away unexpectedly from natural causes shortly after midnight this morning in Los Angeles. We have lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother, a dear friend, a patriot and a happy warrior.
Andrew lived boldly, so that we more timid souls would dare to live freely and fully, and fight for the fragile liberty he showed us how to love.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A few weeks ago I attended an Americans for Prosperity event in Grand Rapids, MI which featured several leading conservative voices; Michelle Malkin, Ann McElhinney, and – Andrew Breitbart. Each energizing and inspiring in their own way, they shared a common message: “Stand up to the destructive lies of the Left.”

Of course I had to pick up a copy of Breitbart’s “Righteous Indignation – Excuse me while I save the world!” – OK, I really wanted his autograph 🙂 – and quickly devoured it. Detailing his journey from the dark side, exploring and dissecting the history behind the Progressives’ destructive philosophy, Breitbart concluded the book with a call to action – defeat the false narratives of the entrenched mainstream media – with the truth.

Co-opting a favorite phrase from the Left, Andrew’s signature line was “Fight the Man!” We are the radicals now. We are the revolutionaries, standing up to today’s establishment – the Progressives.

The conservative movement truly lost a staunch warrior today. Let’s pray that Andrew’s spirit of “righteous indignation” continues to inspire, strengthen our convictions and embolden us to stand for the Truth.
