“Government is instituted for the common good; for the protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness of the people; and not for profit, honor, or private interest of any one man, family, or class of men; therefore, the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it.”

Founding Wisdom – Flouted by the Foolish
How Does the DNC Really Feel About God?
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves,
and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways,
then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
~ 2 Chronicles 7:14 ~
Thanks to the msm’s selective reporting, here’s a story you may have totally missed from last weekend. Anything that shows Christianity in a positive light these days must be avoided by the network spin machines at all costs. But luckily there are more and more great websites springing up to spread the good news.
I found this article at CharismaNews. The Democrat’s reaction to Charlotte714 is a pretty clear illustration of their “unofficial” party platform: Let’s just keep God out of it. ~
On Sunday thousands attended a prayer rally in Charlotte that was officially shunned by the DNC…
Oh, you didn’t hear about it?
I’m speaking about the Charlotte 714 rally (based on the biblical text found in 2 Chronicles 7:14) where Christians from more than 100 different churches in the region attended a seven-hour, non-political rally at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. (According to the figures released by the amphitheater, there were 9,000 total attendees over the course of the day.)
A few weeks before the DNC, the churches involved in the event made an effort to “adopt a delegation,” offering to send welcome baskets with information about their churches and the city. But the “Democrats denied the evangelical group permission because of its pro-life stance.”
According to David Benham, the organizer of Charlotte 714, “The mayor’s office texted me and said, ‘We regret to inform but we ask that you not send those letters, and not engage in ‘Adopt a Delegation,’ because your views on women are contrary to the convention.’”
So much for the Democrats’ claim that they’re an all-inclusive, everyone-is-welcome party eh?
It appears, then, that to deeply honor women as wives and moms and singles who make an immense contribution to the well-being of our society and to highly esteem babies in the womb (including female babies) is to hold to a view of women that is “contrary to the convention.”
Which party started the “war on women” again? The same one that booed God.
Thankfully, God was front and center at the Charlotte714 event, an event that was significant because it was, far and away, the largest gathering in Charlotte outside of the DNC itself; it gathered together a diverse group of pastors, leaders and congregations; and it was totally non-political in tone. In fact, the only really “political” moment of the day came when a black minister urged his fellow African-Americans not to vote for President Obama because of his radically pro-abortion stance. Yet there was not the slightest call to vote for Mitt Romney, whose name may not have been mentioned once.
Instead, the focus was on our sins and failings as the Church in our nation, recognizing that America’s greatest problem is not so much the presence of darkness as it is the absence of light. As I said in the closing message of the night, “The only reason that abortion of demand still exists in Charlotte and there is not a greater hope for the mothers and their babies is because of the apathy of the xhurch. And no-fault divorce among heterosexual Christians has done more to destroy marriage than all the gay activists combined.”
Thankfully, the response was heartening, as thousands pledged themselves afresh to be “the salt of the earth and the light of the world” (Matthew 5:13-16), wanting to make Charlotte714 into a movement more than an event. It’s a shame that you probably didn’t hear about it until now.
Even if most Americans didn’t hear about this rally, we can be certain that God heard the prayers. Wouldn’t it be awesome if Charlotte714 caught on across the country now?!
What IF His people prayed??
Here’s a little musical inspiration from Casting Crowns, a tune that asks that very question ~
Democrats Formally Sever All Ties to Constitution
Up-dated below ~
~ But I’m standing by my original post. I don’t believe that today’s events really represent any substantive change in the Democrat party’s true ideology.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They’ve been moving away from our founding principles for years, but now that any mention of God has been removed from their party platform, the Democrat party is finally taking a definitive stand and rejecting those tenets altogether.
When America’s most basic beliefs: that life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are rights granted to every individual by their Creator, and; that the government exists solely to secure those rights, are discarded, the rest of the Constitution is ultimately rendered meaningless.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Tea Party, at its core, has been primarily about a reaffirmation of our founding documents, restoring America to one nation under God. When Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid denounced the conservative movement in his speech yesterday he was merely echoing his party’s new paradigm: the government giveth and the government taketh away.
Obviously, the Democrats now believe that the founders were a bunch of right-wing radicals. Reid railed that the Tea Party must be stopped…
“… before the United States Senate falls into the hands of extremists and ideologues who leave no room for reason or compromise, who don’t recognize common ground even when they’re standing on it.”
Harry, God is the common ground. Why are you rejecting Him?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
According to the party of the progressives, we all “belong” to the government now:
We might remind anyone who’s still considering voting Democratic that the most prosperous, most productive, most generous nation in world history was the only one founded on the belief that the rights of we the people come from God. Every despotic, totalitarian, murderous regime on the planet has claimed otherwise.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

“I have lived, sir, a long time; and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth, that God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without his aid?”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“A nation of well informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the region of ignorance that tyranny begins.”
~ Benjamin Frankin ~
Up-date-11:00 pm:
Apparently realizing that the they jumped the shark on this one, the Dems held a delegate floor vote this afternoon and will now be reinserting “God” – and “Jerusalem is the capital of Israel” – back into the party platform.
It was mere political posturing, they’ve clearly shown their true colors. The tyrrany has already begun.
Transparent Word Clouds
“Word Clouds” are a unique-to-the-internet information graphic you’ve probably noticed on some web sites. They’re automatically generated by a behind-the-scenes script and typically display, in a “cloud” format, the most searched-for or clicked-on words or phrases on a particular site. The font-size of each word or words in the “cloud” is indicative of frequency.
SooperMexican has cleverly created two word clouds from the text of the convention speeches given by the First Lady and Ann Romney.
Michelle’s speech last night:
Ann Romney’s speech last week:
Could the contrast be much sharper?
A picture is still worth a thousand words – even if it’s a picture of words.
Dems Open Convention as U.S. Debt Skyrockets
How fitting that the National Debt Clock hit the 16 TRLLION mark this afternoon as the DNC convention kicked off in Charlotte. Driven to unimaginable new heights by the most fiscally irresponsible administration in our nation’s history, our total federal debt has increased 60% in less than four years.
Back in January there was a handy chart floating around the web illustrating the president’s dismal economic record. I’ve updated several figures (in green) to reflect today’s runaway debt clock numbers:
Considering Obama’s inspiring reelection slogan; “FORWARD,” one wonders why the Dems didn’t celebrate this landmark moment today with confetti, balloons and a stirring rendition of “Happy Days Are Here Again!”
Hey Fauxcahontas! Native Americans have a couple questions…
Elizabeth Warren, a Harvard law professor, is challenging Scott Brown(R-MA) for his Senate seat in this November’s election. For decades now during her tenure, she’s been claiming a percentage of Cherokee blood in her ethic background. But authentic Native Americans aren’t entirely sure that the progressive professor isn’t speaking with a forked tongue.
From Michelle Malkin’s blog back in May;
Warren has claimed questionable Native American minority status for years to reap career “diversity” benefits. Now, Cherokee leaders, campaign rival GOP Sen. Scott Brown and an army of Twitter detractors have called her out for gaming the racial-preference system. Live by identity politics, die by identity politics.
The Boston Herald reported last Friday that Harvard administrators “prominently touted Warren’s Native American background … in an effort to bolster their diversity hiring record in the ’90s as the school came under heavy fire for a faculty that was then predominantly white and male.” When asked for proof of her tribal heritage, Warren’s campaign first denied that she had ever bragged about it. But from 1986 to 1995, Warren listed herself as a minority professor in a professional law school directory.
At the DNC Convention this week, Native Americans are keeping the pressure on. The Boston Herald’s “Truth Squad” has the story:
Harlyn Geronimo, the great-grandson of the legendary Apache warrior, said he didn’t know the details of Warren’s claims but wanted to make sure she didn’t try to “take advantage” of her Cherokee claims. Warren has offered no proof of her ancestry but says she is relying on “stories” relayed to her by her family.
“I wouldn’t vote for anybody that is being dishonest, and it’s unfair to our people,” he said.
The Native American Council has invited the professor to a meeting tomorrow to discuss her claim to Cheorkee heritage. So OK Ms.Warren, now’s your chance to prove you really don’t deserve the “Fauxchontas” epithet. Let’s see some of that famous Democrat transparency…
How a Young Chicago Lawyer Helped Trigger the Subprime Crisis
Gee, I wonder if the Dems timed it so the national debt would top 16 trillion during their convention? Certainly would be fitting. Any day now… tick… tick…
But exploding the country’s debt has only been one part of the president’s long-term plan to knock America down to size. As the Daily Caller is reporting today, before he was even elected to public office Obama was directly involved in helping to precipitate the mortgage crisis that triggered the present recession.
Pushing the utopian premise that everyone has a right to own a home – regardless of their ability to afford one –progressives have been strong-arming banks into loaning money to unqualified mortgage applicants for years. And right there, bullying with the best of them was our charismatic community organizer…
President Barack Obama was a pioneering contributor to the national subprime real estate bubble, and roughly half of the 186 African-American clients in his landmark 1995 mortgage discrimination lawsuit against Citibank have since gone bankrupt or received foreclosure notices.
As few as 19 of those 186 clients still own homes with clean credit ratings, following a decade in which Obama and other progressives pushed banks to provide mortgages to poor African Americans.
While both sides of the political aisle had a hand in the mortgage meltdown that triggered this long-term recession, it’s the Leftist ideology that was driving it ~
Obama’s lawsuit was one element of a national “anti-redlining” campaign led by Chicago’s progressive groups, who argued that banks unfairly refused to lend money to people living within so-called “redlines” around African-American communities. The campaign was powered by progressives’ moral claim that their expertise could boost home ownership among the United States’ most disadvantaged minority, African-Americans.
Progressive activists’ ambition instead contributed greatly to a housing bubble that burst in 2007, crashed the nation’s economy in 2008, wiped out at least $4 trillion in equity, kept unemployment above 8 percent for four years, and damaged the intended beneficiaries of looser mortgage lending standards.
Yes indeed, just another stark example of the way progressive redistributive actions simply result in equal misery for all.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since the mortgage bubble burst, some of Obama’s former clients are calling for a policy reversal ~
“If you see some people don’t make enough money to afford the mortgage, why would you give them a loan?” asked Obama client John Buchanan. “There should be some type of regulation against giving people loans they can’t afford.”
Well duh.
The problem is, progressives regulate against common sense, hoping to alter reality.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you’re still wondering why your net worth has dropped 30-40% over the last four years, I recommend reading the whole article. It includes a through recap of the whole sorry mortgage mess.
A follow-up piece details the fallout: Obama’s Citibank plaintiffs hit hard when housing bubble burst. How sad.
Let the Malcontent Circus begin!
Get ready folks! The 2012 Democratic National Convention officially opens Tuesday in Charlotte. And by all indications, this one may actually have a lot more entertainment value than the GOP’s last week.
Send in the Clowns.. don’t bother, they’re here 🙄
Starting with the stellar speaker line-up.
Redictably, OWS has arrived on the scene. Still too busy protesting the “builders” to actually go out and become productive members of society ~
“Mr. Malaise,” former President Jimmy Carter, has wrapped up the video they’ll be screening in lieu of his personal appearance. After all, who better to endorse the 2nd most feckless president in recent American history?
The giant sand monument of the Narcissist-in-Chief is in place, although last minute repairs are underway after the sculpture sustained damage in yesterday’s rainstorm.
Sandra Fluke is all set to demonize the evil Republicans for threatening to cut off her free condom supply.
And no doubt Ms. Fluke will be attending the invitation-only “Sex, Politics, and Cocktails” soiree that Planned Parenthood is hosting on Tuesday night.
Code Pink, still jazzed from their antics at the GOP convention last week, joined a protest march through the Charlotte business district today.
Elizabeth Warren (Cherokee name: Fauxcahontas,) is included in the speaker line-up. Apparently she’s the warm-up act for Bill Clinton. It’s not yet known if she’ll be appearing in traditional Native American garb.
Oh, and on Friday, preliminaries included the “Islamic Jumah at the DNC,” an “official convention function,” at the DNC convention in Charlotte. The Religion of Peace invoking Allah’s blessing on Obama? Note the faded, tattered American flag worn as a keffiyeh, indicative of the Islamists’ total disrespect for the United States ~
Yessiree! The Dems are “Fired UP!” “ Ready to go!”
“FORWARD!”
“Obamanation”
Artist John McNaughton delivers again with his latest creation – this one brilliantly illustrating the damage President Obama and his progressive ideology has inflicted on the nation in just three and a half years ~
Obamanation (One Painting That Says It All)
I am just one person, a citizen of this country using my first amendment rights to speak out through my art. This is my declaration that we have never had a president do more to harm our country than Barack Obama. ~ John McNaughton ~
Saturday Shorts – 9-1-12
Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:
The 30 Best Quotes From The 2012 Republican Convention ~ I think Paul Ryan won the most-quotable contest:
“It all started off with stirring speeches, Greek columns, the thrill of something new. Now all that’s left is a presidency adrift, surviving on slogans that already seem tired, grasping at a moment that has already passed, like a ship trying to sail on yesterday’s wind.”
One of his other great lines –
“College graduates should not have to live out their 20s in their childhood bedrooms staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life.”
– was just begging for visuals:
GOP Convention Exposes Bigotry And Hatred On The Left ~ Why is it that the same people who admonish the rest of us to be tolerant are the worst offenders?
Why Does MSNBC Want to Go Backwards? ~ Oddly enough (or perhaps not), the foundational premise of the Declaration of Independence is suddenly a point of contention with the Left. They, like every tyrannical regime in world history, have fallen for the misguided notion that our rights come from government.
Obama speech to soldiers met with silence ~ Maybe if the commander-in-chief didn’t disrespect the military at every turn, he’d get a little more respect from them!
Amazing letter from Neil Armstrong ~ After a visit to their home in 2008, the parents of a twelve-year old boy asked Neil Armstrong to write a letter of encouragement to their son. He graciously complied. Glenn Beck shared it with his radio audience this week ~
“The one thing that cannot be taken from you without your consent, is your character, which includes your beliefs, you ethics, and your principles. So guard them care. They are your most valuable possessions.”
R.I.P. Neil Armstrong – truly a class act.
Celebrity Renegades
Clint Eastwood is getting hammered by the Left today for his humorous presentation at the GOP convention last night. They’re going with the “bizarre” meme; “crazy,” “senile,” “sad and pathetic.” Predictable, but still stunning the way Hollywood can turn so viciously on one of their own for straying off the Leftist reservation.
Jon Voight, who’s been an out-spoken conservative for years, is used to the unhinged criticisms by now and thoroughly confident in his views (and still working on Angelina 🙂 ). Earlier this week Nicholas Ballasy of the Daily Caller interviewed him in Tampa ~
Source: The Daily Caller
The video is slightly over 7 minutes long but well worth a listen (2nd half’s the best). Voight speaks for many of us – sharing our frustration with the journalistic malpractice of the mainstream media.
“The main media, you know, it’s doing our country in.”
Yes, Jon, we certainly do know!
Surreality
America is facing what sometimes seems to be an overwhelming array of insurmountable problems: an anemic economy, unsustainable debt, skyrocketing energy costs, broken marriages and fractured families, porous borders, creeping Sharia and other threats to our sovereignty, moral decay and a general erosion of the civil society.
Solutions to all these woes seem to elude us because the proximate causes vary widely from issue to issue. But all can in fact be traced back to a common source; a massive shift in worldview. Western civilization is rapidly rejecting transcendent truths. And when everything is relative, nothing is real anymore.
We as a society have become so unmoored from reality that, as Daniel Greenfield at Sultan Knish so aptly puts it, “Everything is Fake Now.” Greenfield puts most of the blame on contemporary media and our fascination with it. Our minds have become so numbed by the droning on our television and computer screens that fiction regularly replaces fact. And we can no longer tell the difference ~
As we watch the news covering a story, what we are actually watching is the media making up a story and then telling that story incessantly and embedding it in every nook and cranny of their coverage. This blurring of the lines between the real and the fake is not happening thanks to the magic of technology, but (to) the prosaic methods of complete insincerity…
This is our shoddy virtual reality with a CNN or MSNBC logo planted on top. There is you still sitting on your same old couch, watching Chris Matthews yelling himself hoarse about racism, because racism is our virtual reality. It is the world that we are supposed to live in and Chris’ job, for which he receives some 5 million a year, is to convince us that we are living in it.
“Racism,” Chris yells at the screen, like the idiot shaman of some stone age tribe, and those dull-witted enough to believe him nod knowingly, because it makes them feel as if they know something. And in a world where nothing is real, knowing something makes them feel a little less confused. They don’t understand why the prices are suddenly so high and the bank won’t give them a loan– but they can understand that Republicans are bad people and somehow responsible for it.
Some 70 percent of Barack Obama’s Twitter followers may be fake, but why quibble at such numbers. The people who decided to make Obama popular did so through constant repetition that translated into the peer pressure of the trend. Obama became a trending topic and everyone followed along because in an unreal world, you follow the unreal leader.
Obama is fake, his popularity is fake, but it’s also real, because fake is now the ultimate reality. The purveyors of fakeness have demonstrated their ability to transform the unreal into the real through manufactured consensus. By insisting that something unpopular was popular often enough, they made it popular. And by insisting that something popular is really unpopular, they did the opposite.
Does it sound like we’re living in the Matrix? In a very disturbing way, it’s the omnipresent repetitive nature of the media that “has made it so that the unreal never goes away.”
The unreal is so pervasive because it has so many outlets and we are all wired into one or more of them. If the unreal doesn’t get into your head one way, it will do it another way…
Reality hasn’t gone away, but we have gone away from it. Enough of us have gone down into the dream, grasped a thread of the story and allowed it to sweep us away. Given a choice between the red pill and the blue pill, they have unconsciously chosen the blue pill without ever being aware that they had a choice. And they are cushioned in this virtual world by a government that promises to take care of them and their children and their children’s children until the end of time.
But no matter how deluded we’ve become, reality is still there, waiting for us to wake up and recognize the truth ~
• Life begins at conception, not when it’s convenient.
• Gender is not interchangeable.
• Traditional marriage is the best environment for child-rearing.
• You can’t spend more than you make without going broke.
• Freedom isn’t free.
Humans can’t live in a fantasy world forever; truth will out. Greenfield concludes his piece as follows:
Even an unreal economy reported on by an unreal media cheering on an unreal leader can only run for so long until reality punches through the illusion, the curtain falls, the magicians scramble off the stage with rabbits and doves tucked into their pants, and everyone wakes up to realize that the dream is over and we realize that we are entering a world where the stories no longer matter and history is about to begin.
Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away.
~ Philip K. Dick, science fiction writer ~
