It’s Mourning in America; but God’s Truth is Eternal

I never thought I’d see the day that Americans would vote for their own country’s demise… but here we are.

We’ve actually reached the point when a majority of our fellow citizens neither know nor care about history, and no longer subscribe to the faith of our founding fathers.

Yet, while America’s role as a beacon of freedom and light in the world may be finished… we believers know that our Redeemer – the One True Light – lives.

Like many of you, I’ve lost my faith in the majority of our leaders and sadly, in America herself. But never in Him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We know that we are of God, and the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one.
And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ.
This is the true God and eternal life. Amen
~ John 1:19-20 ~
Vote 2012: “Liberty, honor and safety are all at stake”
Please consider the words of George Washington, America’s “Indispensable Man” when casting your ballot ~
“I am sure there never was a people who had more reason to
acknowledge a divine interposition in their affairs than those
of the United States; and I should be pained to believe that
they have forgotten that agency which was so often manifested
during our revolution, or that they failed to consider the
omnipotence of that God who is alone able to protect them.”
~ 1792 ~
“Liberty, honor and safety are all at stake;
and I trust Providence will smile upon our efforts
and establish once more the inhabitants of a free
and happy country.”
~ 1776 ~
If you are a Christian, this checklist will help answer the question ~ How will I vote?
[via PJ Tatler]
1. I will vote for the most pro-life candidate, because God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Prov.6:17).
2. I will vote for the most pro-Israel candidate, because God blesses those who bless Israel & curses those who don’t (Gen.12:3).
3. I will vote for the most pro-marriage candidate, because God is for marriage as He defined it in Genesis 2:24.
4. I will vote for the candidate who most closely believes government’s purpose is to reward the good & punish the evil (Romans 13).
5. I will vote for the most pro-debt reduction candidate, because the borrower is servant to the lender (Prov.22:7).
6. I will vote for the most pro-work candidate because God says if a man does not work, let him not eat (2Thess.3:10).
7. I will vote based as close as I can on God’s infallible Word which is “… given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.” (2Tim. 3:16-17).
8. And after I vote, I will rest knowing that whoever gets elected, God is the one who puts all men in authority to either His glory or to man’s own destruction (Dan.2:21).
Thinking and Voting Biblically
Sometimes I run across an article that so perfectly relevant and well-stated that it’s difficult to excerpt, and just needs to be posted in its entirety. This is one of those. Filing under “Stuff I wish I’d written” ~
You Can’t Preach the Gospel without Freedom
by Frank Turek at Cross Examined
When I hear Christians saying we ought not get involved in politics but just “preach the Gospel,” I show them this satellite picture of the Korean peninsula:
Here we see a homogenous population of mostly Koreans separated by a well-fortified border. South Korea is full of freedom, food and productivity—it’s one of the most Christianized countries in the world. North Korea is a concentration camp. They have no freedom, no food, and very little Christianity.
What’s the primary reason for the stark difference between these two countries? Politics. The South politically allows freedom, while the North does not.
Ironically, Christians who shun politics to supposedly advance the Gospel are actually allowing others to stop the Gospel. How so? Because politics and law affects one’s ability to preach the Gospel! If you think otherwise, visit some of the countries I have visited—Iran, Saudi Arabia and China. You cannot legally “preach the Gospel” in those countries—or practice other aspects of your religion freely—because politically they’ve ruled it out as they have in North Korea.
In fact, politics affects virtually every area of your life through the laws made by government. So if you care about your family, business, church, school, children, money, property, home, security, healthcare, safety, freedom, and your ability to “preach the Gospel,” then you should care about politics.
Politics affects everything, which is why leaders throughout the Bible—including Joseph, Moses, Daniel, Nehemiah, Mordecai, Esther, John the Baptist, and Paul— “went political” to influence civil governments to govern morally. Even Jesus himself got involved in politics when he publically chastised the Pharisees—the religious and political leaders of Israel—for neglecting “the more important matters of the law.”
Unfortunately, our lawmakers today are doing the same thing. They use the force of law tell us what light bulbs to use and what the school lunch menu should be, but neglect to put any restrictions on the taking of human life by abortion! What could be more important than life? The right to life is the right to all other rights. If you don’t have life, you don’t have anything.
But what can Christians do? After all, we can’t legislate morality, can we? News flash: All laws legislate morality! Morality is about right and wrong and all laws declare one behavior right and the opposite behavior wrong. So the question is not whether we can legislate morality, but “Whose morality will we legislate?”
The answer our Founding Fathers gave was the “self-evident” morality given to us by our Creator—the same Moral Law that the apostle Paul said that all people have “written on their hearts.” In other words, not my morality or your morality, but the morality—the one we inherited not the one we invented. (This doesn’t mean that every moral or political issue has clear right and wrong answers. It only means that “the more important matters of the law” – life, marriage and religious freedom for example—do have clear answers that we should heed.)
Notice our Founders did not have to establish a particular denomination or force religious practice in order to legislate a moral code. Our country justifies moral rights with theism, but does not require its citizens to acknowledge or practice theism. That’s why Chris Matthews and other liberals are wrong when they charge that Christians are trying to impose a “theocracy” or violate the “separation of Church and State.” They fail to distinguish between religion and morality.
Broadly defined, religion involves our duty to God while morality involves our duty to one another. Our lawmakers are not telling people how, when, or if to go to church—that would be legislating religion. But lawmakers cannot avoid telling people how they should treat one another— that is legislating morality, and that is what all laws do.
Opposition to abortion or same-sex marriage, for example, does not entail the establishment of a “theocracy.” Churches and the Bible also teach that murder, theft, and child abuse are wrong, but no one says laws prohibiting such acts establish a theocracy or are a violation of the “separation of church and state.” In fact, if the government could not pass laws consistent with church or biblical teachings, then all criminal laws would have to be overturned because they are all in some way consistent with at least one of the Ten Commandments.
Second, there are churches on both sides of these issues. In other words, some liberal churches, contrary to scripture, actually support abortion and same-sex marriage. So if church-supported positions could not be put into law, then we could not have laws either way on abortion or same-sex marriage. Absurd.
Finally, most proponents of same-sex marriage argue as if they have some kind of moral right to having their relationships endorsed by the state. They claim that they don’t have “equal rights” or that they are being “discriminated” against. Likewise, abortion advocates claim they have a moral “right” to choose an abortion. None of these claims are true, as I have explained elsewhere. Nevertheless, their arguments, while flawed, expose the fact that independent of religion they seek to legislate their morality rather than the morality.
If you have a problem with the morality, don’t blame me. I didn’t make it up. I didn’t make up the fact that abortion is wrong, that men are not designed for other men, or that natural marriage is the foundation of a civilized society. Those unchangeable objective truths about reality are examples of the “Laws of Nature” from “Nature’s God,” as the Declaration of Independence puts it, and we only hurt others and ourselves by suppressing those truths and legislating immoral laws.
When we fail to legislate morally, others impose immorality. For example, totalitarian political correctness is already imposed in states such as Massachusetts where the implications of same-sex marriage override the religious liberties of businesses, charities and even parents. As documented here and illustrated here, same sex marriage prevents you from running your business, educating your children, or practicing your religion in accord with your Conscience. And soon, as is the case in Canada, you may not be able to merely speak Biblically about homosexual behavior. That is because those who say they are fighting for “tolerance” are often the most intolerant.
Unless Christians begin to influence politics and the culture more significantly, we will continue to lose the very freedoms that enable us to live according to our beliefs and spread the Gospel all over the world. That’s why you should not vote for candidates because of their race or religion, but because they will govern morally on the more important matters of the law—life, marriage and religious freedom.
Michigan’s Ballot Proposals
There are six proposals on Michigan’s November 6th Ballot; too many and too confusing in my opinion. But after reviewing several sources, here’s my take ~
Proposal 1 – Referendum on Emergency Manager Law
Michigan’s current Emergency Manager law, Public Act 72 (PA72) provides for an emergency manager to step in and prevent a financially at-risk municipality from going bankrupt. Emergency managers may not be a perfect solution, but when finances are in a shambles, they’re the only viable one. Here are a couple Michigan success stories:
In 2011 the legislation was amended to give the emergency managers the ability to undo labor contracts (Public Act 4). Naturally, this doesn’t make the unions happy – but if the contract costs for retirement and health care are simply unsustainable, there may be no other solution.
A “No” vote would mean repealing PA4, would probably reverse any of the actions that have been taken to stabilize local economies – and render the original PA72 unclear.
A YES vote ensures that the law remains in place as is.
The remaining five proposals would all amend the state constitution if approved – never an action to be taken lightly.
Proposal 2 – Protect Our Jobs
Should be called “Let the Unions Hijack our Constitution” or “Protect our UNION jobs until the end of time.” Proposal 2 is the worst of the worst.
It would amend the Constitution to allow public sector employees to dictate the terms of their employment to “we the people” – their employers! The misleading ads in support of Prop 2 are saying it gives unions collective bargaining – but they already have that in their individual contracts. Personally, I think “Protect Our Jobs” is a panicked attempt to forever prevent reforms like those enacted by Governor Walker in Wisconsin; reforms that put that state on the road to fiscal recovery.
If we want to grow Michigan’s economy we need to be moving toward “Right to Work,” not locking in permanent union control.
Prop 2 means higher taxes for everyone. It would kill new business development and, to paraphrase the Detroit Free Press, “would seal Michigan’s fate as an economic backwater.”
Just vote NO!
Proposal 3 – Renewable Energy Mandate
“Mandate?!” Exactly. This proposal would enshrine the idyllic Green agenda into our Constitution. Mandating the impossible – and charging taxpayers for the futility.
Michigan already has an energy target goal of 10% renewables by 2015. This proposal would mandate 25% by 2025. Not practical, not cost effective – and not necessary.
How’s that wind thing working out??
Prop 3 is totally unrealistic – and “energy costs would necessarily skyrocket.”
Say NO to the mandate.
Proposal 4 – Quality Home Care Council
This is another union (SEIU) power grab disguised as improving the quality of home health care. Again, it would amend the Constitution, establishing a “Quality Control Council” to which all home health workers will be subject.
It would effectively force in-home care workers, including relatives of the patient, to join a union and pay union dues.
Proposal 4 is a scam –
almost completely funded by the Service Employees International Union, trying to ensure the forced unionization it orchestrated that takes $6 million a year from the disabled and elderly in Michigan continues. ~ Michigan Capital Confidential
Vote NO on this proposal that will do nothing to actually improve the quality of in-home health care.
Proposal 5 – Limit Enactment of New Taxes
Would amend the Constitution to require either a 2/3 majority vote in the state house and senate; or a statewide vote in a November election, to impose new taxes or expand the base of taxation. It would also would strengthen the state’s existing Headlee Amendment, which limits state revenues (including taxes and fees) to 9.49 percent of total personal income in the state.
Opponents argue that this would make the budget process more difficult and prevent lawmakers from eliminating loopholes (why haven’t they done that already?). I say anything that makes it harder for Lansing to raise taxes is good for business –and good for Michigan ~
Vote YES to control tax increases.
Proposal 6 – Limit International Bridge Options
OK – If anyone can clearly and succinctly explain the pros and cons on this one I’d be happy to listen. As it stands, it’s almost impossible to sort the facts from the rhetoric – on both sides of this issue.
I basically agree with the Michigan Independent Tea Party Patriots on this one:
This doesn’t belong in the constitution, and NO vote keeps it out. A YES vote will require that any decision on an international bridge or tunnel must be approved by a direct vote of the people.”The Bridge” has been a very visible, hotly debated issue for some time, basically arguing over whether a new international bridge is needed, and who should pay for it and own it. It is very difficult to sort through the competing claims, as very few clear facts have been presented…
…We generally prefer the use of private funds rather than taxpayer funds to pay for a bridge, if a bridge is needed. That would place the risk, and the potential rewards in the private sector. It is not clear that having the public vote on a project of this type is an improvement.
I’m going with a NO. We just shouldn’t amend the Constitution without fully understanding the implications.
The presidential race is over, cue the conspiracy theories ~ From Theo Caldwell at the Daily Caller. My favorite part, his diagnosis of Leftie mindset:
We often see leftist orthodoxy morph into popular convention. This is because, while there are some smart people on the left, it requires almost no thinking to be a liberal. Simply absorb the political sentiments you hear in almost any Hollywood film, or on most any television program or newscast and, presto, you’re in. Repeat these nostrums at school or work and you will be rewarded. Augmented by the emotional satisfaction of the left’s perpetual righteous indignation, this dynamic becomes self-fulfilling and very cozy.
Benghazi blunder: Obama unworthy commander-in-chief ~ Great editorial in the Las Vegas Review-Journal (largest newspaper in Harry Reid’s homestate):
This administration is an embarrassment on foreign policy and incompetent at best on the economy – though a more careful analysis shows what can only be a perverse and willful attempt to destroy our prosperity.
Breaking: Eric Holder’s wife co-owns abortion clinic building run by indicted abortionist ~ Yes, the head of the Department of INjustice is married to a woman with ties to the abortion industry. Small wonder then that DOJ in October declined to investigate an Indiana abortion clinic that Allen Country Right to Life alleges is violating the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Early signs of R² Derangement Syndrome
Recall the tragic outbreak of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) following the 2004 election… when thousands of disappointed Kerry voters were despondent to the point of clinical depression over the Democrat’s loss, many suffering from various degrees of denial? Well, if early signs are any indication, there may be an epidemic of Romney/Ryan Derangement Syndrome after November 6th. Already, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, “Liberals (are) so freaked out about the prospect of President Obama losing his re-election bid that they can’t sleep at night.”
Mary Katherine Ham has more on this pathetic trend at Hot Air: A Romney vote means rich, white San Franciscans can’t exercise in their home gyms. 😯
Meanwhile, Michael Moore, who has occupied his own reality-free (extra-large) zone for some time now – has discovered some seasoned citizens who already exhibiting signs of the advanced stages of R²DS.
As the Blaze reported, Moore has teamed up with MoveOn.org to produce a new ad ~
… titled (sacrilegiously!) “Greatest Generation” — that actually includes the phrase “cock punch” and features a woman old enough to be many peoples’ great grandmother promising to “burn this motherf**ker down.” The ad is allegedly centered around the issue of voter fraud, but really is focused on the idea that a victory by Mitt Romney in next week’s Presidential election could only be due to fraud, and thus Romney and his party should be “cock punched” if this happens.
I just couldn’t post the video, because it’s so appalling. (You can watch it HERE if you want to get really offended. WARNING: Graphic language)
I must say though, it inspired a quick prayer of thanksgiving for the God-fearing parents and grandparents I’ve been so blessed to have.
R² Derangement Syndrome or not – these people should be ashamed of themselves!
After the Storm
Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy – All that’s left of a Catholic church in Breezy Pt.,
Queens, NY where more than 100 homes were destroyed by fire.*
Although the Left and the hapless sheeple (and possibly NJ’s governor, Chris Christie) still believe that Barack Obama can heal the land and save the planet…
the rest of us know that relief, clean-up and restoration in the wake of Hurricane Sandy are going to require faith in God, and the efforts of millions of Americans.
We can all help – with prayers – and by donating to one of these front-line organizations:
Samaritan’s Purse
Salvation Army
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team
Catholic Charities
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
O Lord,
You are a shelter from the storm.
Your view is a higher view.
You ride on the wings of the wind,
and Your love for us is deeper than
the ocean’s depths.

Be with all Your children through
this long night of raging…
through days of unknowing…
through changes unbidden…
through it all.

Heal our land.
Amen.

Benghazi: Did the Obama Administration Sell Arms to Al-Qaeda?

Must-listen video from Glenn Beck ~

Up-date 11-18-17 ~ Just realized the above video was pulled. Here’s another copy. (Let’s see if it stays up…)
Listening to this again I’m reminded of the Turkey connection which – in light of the tyranny now reigning in that country – makes this whole evil scenario even more plausible.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Bengahzi disaster is getting uglier by the day – but it’s also making more and more sense.
We’ve learned that the administration knew that the embassy was under attack by terrorists (not a Muslim mob) almost immediately – yet did nothing to save those four American lives. How could anyone, even Obama, have such a callous disregard for human life?
Well, such ruthless, inhumane behavior does makes sense – in the evilest, most calculated sort of way – when we learn that the CIA was supplying arms to Al-Qaeda! That the “embassy” was really a CIA safehouse. That Ambassador Stevens was really a CIA weapons dealer. And that the pleas for help were ignored in a deliberate effort to prevent the truth from being exposed.
Those lives were sacrificed for a G-damned political agenda – to cover up treason!
Who’s Really Haunting the White House?
Shades of the past… ? When we consider all the significant historic events that this building has been a witness to, is it any wonder that 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. is said to be haunted?
Constructed between 1792 and 1800, the White House has been through two fires, 43 presidents (John Adams was the first) and lots of drama in the last two centuries. Previous occupants have had to deal with all manner of world-altering events; foreign wars, civil war and unrest, economic crashes, assassinations (both “successful” and attempted) natural disasters, and many other threats to national security and stability. So, if what paranormal researchers tell us about traumatic events leaving behind psychic energy that manifests as weird phenomenon is true, it would probably be surprising if the building weren’t full of ghosts.
Among the well-known spirits said to stalk the famous residence are Abigail Adams, Andrew Jackson, Dolley Madison and, most frequently, Abraham Lincoln ~
Recently, even Michelle Obama has reported strange occurrences: Supernatural activity may be causing Obama’s restless nights.
Perhaps she caught a glimpse of her own reflection… (Sorry – couldn’t resist!)
Seriously though, can any of the famous White House specters be more frightening than the current residents?
The Obamas have been haunting the country for almost four years now. Time to call in the Ghostbusters!
