We SHOULD be FURIOUS at Obama’s AUDACITY

It’s really just astounding. How in the world does Barack Obama continue to get away with such total and complete B.S.? ~
 

 

In case you missed it, here he was in Mexico this week;

… we also recognize that most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States.

 
😯 … Because YOU sent them there!

I think many of you know that in America, our Constitution guarantees our individual right to bear arms, and as President I swore an oath to uphold that right and I always will. But at the same time, as I’ve said in the United States, I will continue to do everything in my power to pass common-sense reforms that keep guns out of the hands of criminals and dangerous people. That can save lives here in Mexico and back home in the United States. It’s the right thing to do.

 
WRONG. The RIGHT thing to do would be to put you in prison for TYRANNY:

for lying to the Americans (and Mexicans) about YOUR gunrunning operation – which resulted in the deaths of at least one American border agent – and more than 300 Mexicans.

 

The WRONG thing to do would be to limit our rights under the Second Amendment – because that’s exactly the result you hoped to orchestrate with Fast & Furious from day one!

As far back as 2009 DHS head Janet Napolitano was rambling on about about cross-border efforts to stop guns from going to Mexico ~

… we are reaching out to the national security adviser, to the attorney general and others about how we within the United States make sure we are doing all we can in a coordinated way to support the president of Mexico.

 
Bear in mind, this is just about the time Operation Fast & Furious was ramping up…

“I’ve met with the attorney general of Mexico and the ambassador already,” Napolitano said. “One of the things that I particularly am focused on is southbound traffic in guns. Particularly assault weapons and cash are being used to funnel and fund these very, very violent cartels.
 
“So working with Customs, working with ATF, we’re looking at ways that we can help suppress that traffic,” said Napolitano. 😯 “But in my view, from a Homeland Security standpoint, this is going to be an issue, working with Mexico, that is going to be of real priority interest over these coming months.”

 
This was all a total smoke screen to hide the administration’s real priority; running guns INTO Mexico. We were focused on “southbound traffic in guns” all right. We were the one’s sending them down!

I think that it’s quite courageous of Obama to issue a call to put himself behind bars. This is an issue where I believe we can find bipartisan support to move forward and put gun traffickers like Holder and Obama where they belong.

Last we heard, the Attorney General of the United States was obstructing Congressional access to materials related to the ATF and DoJ operation, even in the face of Congressional subpoenas and a contempt of Congress citation. Those firearms were used in hundreds of murders in Mexico and at least two in the United States, but so far Obama’s own Cabinet official won’t cooperate in the investigation into how the administration put those weapons into the hands of those criminals.

Cyber-Sales Tax – More insatiable government greed

As we all should know by now, whenever Congress labels something “fair” we can generally expect the opposite. Such is the case with the “Marketplace Fairness Act” they’re hoping to enact soon ~

The Internet sales tax bill is actually the antithesis of “fairness” and simply is another vehicle for states to collect new tax revenue to fill gapping budget deficits. Small online sellers will have to comply with tax laws created by distant governments in which they have no representation.

What we basically have with this sneaky legislation is Big Brother helping the states grab more $$ from hapless consumers; essentially giving states permission to force out-of-state retailers to collect taxes for them. A bad idea all around (Even some Democrat senators are opposed) ~
 

 
Bottom line: Our fiscally irresponsible federal and state governments just want MORE of your money.
 

The legislation is stalled at the moment but a Senate vote is expected next week. Tell your senators to focus on spending reduction – to stop inventing new ways to stick it to the private sector.

By the way, if you know anyone who thinks the “Marketplace Fairness Act” is a good idea – because the federal, state and local governments aren’t extorting “their fair share” already – send them HERE.

When you account for all forms of taxation, there are some Americans that “play by the rules” that are sending more than half of their incomes to the government.

62nd National Day of Prayer

Today is our National Day of Prayer – and we surely do need it!
 

If my people, who are called by My name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek My face and change their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive them and heal their land.

Recently Ken Ham at Answers in Genesis asked (and answered) the question: Is America Under Judgment?

… after listening to the 2nd inaugural address by the head of this nation, President Obama, it’s obvious this nation is already under judgment!
 
… With the president’s strong support, we will now see an escalation of legislation around America to legalize “gay” marriage. Furthermore, there are indications that people who speak out against what the Bible clearly calls sin and an abomination will be treated as criminals.

 
Let’s not forget that that same president just last week asked God to bless Planned Parenthood. And the military, under this commander-in-chief, has decided that sharing one’s faith is a court martial offense. Has our nation ever been more in need of divine intervention?

With such a flagrant defiance of God’s clear Word, I maintain that these anti-God movements show that America is under judgment. I think of the passage:
 

Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. (Romans 1:24–26)

 
The fact that men and women are abandoning the roles God created for them is a sign that God is judging. As Romans 1 above declares, He “gave them up.”
As we observe the terrible degeneration of our culture before our eyes, I believe we are getting a glimpse of what it was like in the evil days of Noah:

“Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (Genesis 6:5).

Ever more militant in pushing their agenda, the (INtolerant) LGBT lobby even tried to undermine this year’s National Day of Prayer by forcing the event’s honorary chairman, Pastor Greg Laurie, to step down, demonizing him as “homophobic.”
Thankfully, Laurie has declined to be bullied:

“If people want to make it all about that I’m not going to back down. In the immortal words of the great theologian Tom Petty, ‘I won’t back down,’ I won’t. I’m not going to apologize.”
 
Laurie paralleled the efforts of gay rights activists to that of the palace officials who sought to stop Daniel (in the Old Testament) from praying and passed a law that resulted in him being thrown into the Lion’s Den.
 
“Here is something that we need to learn from that. The Devil does not want us to pray. It’s been said that Satan trembles when he sees the weakest saint upon his knees,” said Laurie. “I’ve had people try to stop me from praying this week. And we have these activist homosexual groups who have alerted their people to petition the Pentagon.”

 

 
Tomorrow’s prayer will be prayed simultaneously at 12:00 EST. Please join in ~

Father, we come to You to pray for our nation, the United States of America.
 
How You have blessed us through the years, Lord! We rightly sing, “America, America, God shed His grace on thee.” Yet we see trouble in our culture today. We see the breakdown of the family, crippling addictions, and random acts of horrific violence.
 
Lord, we need Your help in America. In recent days, we have done our best to remove Your Word and Your counsel from our courtrooms, classrooms, and culture. It seems, as President Lincoln once said, that we have “forgotten God.” But Lord, You have not forgotten us! You can bless and help and revive our country again.
 
Scripture tells us that “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people” (Proverbs 14:34). Lord, in Your mercy, we ask that You would exalt our country again. We have had a number of great awakenings in America. We have experienced times of refreshing, and revivals that changed not only the spiritual but also the moral landscape. As the psalmist said, “Will You not revive us again, so that Your people may rejoice in You?” (Psalm 85:6).
 
That is our prayer for America today, Lord. Send a mighty spiritual awakening that will turn the hearts of men and women, boys and girls, back to you. You have told us if we will humble ourselves and pray, and seek Your face and turn from our wicked ways, that You will forgive our sins and heal our land (2 Chronicles7:14).
 
Forgive us today, Lord, and heal this troubled land that we love so much.
 
We ask all of this in the name of Jesus Christ.

Yes, this is really my 1000th post 🙂
Hard to believe I’ve been blogging for just over two years now.
 
It’s getting pretty discouraging though. Lately I’ve been wondering whether I should keep going with it or not. After more than 25 months, I’m regularly pelted with spam, but not much else.
 
Is anyone even reading anything? Or are my words just floating out there in cyberspace?
“If a tree falls in the forest…”
 

Oh good grief! Enough with the melodrama.
 
And yet… it is disappointing.
All along my mission has been trying to help people see the truth – how the Christian worldview is the only one that makes sense out of our individual and collective human experience, and of the world around us (how it corresponds to reality). How the Founders’ vision of America was the surest hope – not for utopia – but for the best civilization that fallen mankind can attain.
 
Instead, more and more I’ve been feeling like this…
 
 
… still despondent over an election that seemed to indicate our country’s headed downhill faster than anyone can stop it.

 
We’re immersed in moral relativism. Not only do so many not know the truth, many of them don’t even want to.
 
So do I quit or what…?

Well, yesterday I ran across this video of Ted Cruz (speaking to FreedomWorks); first-term Senator, Texas Tea Party favorite, patriot (Dare we hope that we finally have an incorruptible representative in the Senate?) – which helped snap me out of my apathy ~

Here’s the line that really made an impact (Cruz is referring to blocking gun control legislation):

“What was critical… was the involvement of the American people.”

His confidence optimism is infectious.
 

Also, I often forget there are many sources of inspiration if I only look around – both contemporary – and historically. The Bible is full of examples of individuals who persevered against all odds; from Noah (some 100 years!), to Joseph, David, to Jesus himself, and His many martyred disciples.

Zero Tolerance for Christianity?

In case you haven’t noticed that the war on Christianity is rapidly escalating these days, check out this story at Breitbart: Pentagon Taps Anti-Christian Extremist for Religious Tolerance Policy.
 
Apparently our military leaders now agree with Mikey Weinstein, founder of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF), who seems to believe Christianity is the root cause of all evil in the world ~
 

 

Weinstein will be a consultant to the Pentagon to develop new policies on religious tolerance, including a policy for court-martialing military chaplains who share the Christian Gospel during spiritual counseling of American troops.
 
(He) decries what he calls the “virulent religious oppression” perpetrated by conservative Christians, whom he refers to as “monstrosities” and “pitiable unconstitutional carpetbaggers,” comparing them to “bigots” in the Deep South during the civil rights era…
 
Weinstein then endorses the ultra-left Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), who publishes a list of “hate groups.” Alongside truly deplorable organizations like the KKK, the SPLC’s list includes a host of traditional Christian organizations (for their support of traditional marriage) and Tea Party organizations (for supporting limited government). Weinstein says SPLC correctly labels them all as “hate groups.”

 
These outrageous claims and accusations are tactics right out of the Leftist’s instruction manual; totally distort the truth to demonize your opponents and advance your agenda.
 
Sally Quinn at the Washington Post, though not quite so zealous, knows how to play the game too, declaring;

“What must stop is the concept that America needs to conquer the world for Christ.” 😯

 
You see?
“Must stop?” When did it start?
How, who and where exactly did that “concept” come from?
(Jesus has already conquered death. Christians are motivated to spread that good news and help save souls – not attempt to “conquer the world.”)
 
Here’s Quinn’s example, which I guess is supposed to demonstrate Christians’ nefarious goal of world domination;

The Officers Christian Fellowship, in a posting on the Naval Academy’s Web site, promoted the idea of Christian officers exercising biblical leadership to raise up godly military ambassadors for Christ in uniform empowered by the Holy Spirit. “They are trying to create a spiritually transformed U.S. military.”

 
Sally obviously overlooked a story published in her very own newspaper earlier this month: Obama awards Father Emil Kapaun Medal of Honor. Fr. Kapaun was a POW during the Korean War ~

“In the chaos — dodging bullets and explosions — Father Kapaun raced between foxholes and into no-man’s lands, dragging the wounded to safety. When the enemy broke through and the combat was hand-to-hand, he carried on comforting the injured and the dying,” Obama said. Kapaun was “an American soldier who didn’t fire a gun, but who [carried] the mightiest weapon of all: the love for his brothers so powerful that he was willing to die so that they might live.”

 
Oddly enough, the very same government that seems intent on erasing all traces of Christianity from the military still manages to find some value in the primary tenets and outward manifestations of that faith; steadfast courage, inspiration, selfless love in the face of evil.

 

Even the President (or at least his speechwriters) occasionally “gets it” ~

Obama said Kapaun’s humility and attitude of service, reminded him of his grandparents, who also grew up in rural Kansas. “They embodied those heartland values of honesty and hard work, decency and humility.”

 
Too bad the grandson (and his administration) doesn’t embody those same values.

Quick, before the applause dies down on the final act of “Funding the Friendly Skies” – starring the U.S. Congress – let’s briefly review the way this little melodrama unfolded shall we?
 

Act I

President Obama’s 2013 budget proposal requests $15,146,000,000 for the FAA. Congress, knowing the sequester was looming on the horizon, magnanimously appropriates $862,000,000 more than that, for a new total of $16.008 billion.
 

Act II

Sequester kicks in; FAA budget drops to $15,371,000,000 (But that’s still $225 million more than the president’s original request).
 

 
Adverse effects appear to be minimal… until air-traffic controllers are furloughed. Flight delays ensue. Traveling public is inconvenienced and annoyed – deliberately so (Part of Obama’s “Harm Offensive”) – and complaining loudly.
 

Act III

Anxious to take advantage of the situation, Senators summon their faux concern and rush in to the rescue, diligently working late Thursday night – just before the congressional weeklong recess (after all, they’ll need to fly home) – to demonstrate their selfless dedication.
Not to be outdone, the House follows suit today, quickly approving the new bill proposed by the Senate ~

The measure will let the Department of Transportation transfer $253 million in FAA funding into the operations account that pays for air traffic controller salaries…
…the bill includes an extra $21 million beyond what’s needed to pay for the controller salaries.

Left takes advantage of this episode to once more demonize heartless Republicans for allowing (Obama’s) sequestration to go through in the first place.
Because of course, no matter how much the GOP compromises, it’s never enough to alleviate the (government-imposed) suffering, or satisfy the White House ~

“This is a one-off case, if you will, the sequester itself cannot be finessed. It is having negative consequences around the country.”

Entertaining little tableau wasn’t it? Our Roman Senate is always happy to oblige with more bread & circuses for we the peasants.

 

Behind the scenes

 
As Phil Kerpen at American Commitment points out, the worst part of this whole charade was that the flight delays have been totally unnecessary (other than to maintain the ruling class’ phony narrative) ~
• FAA management seems indifferent to fiscal responsibility
• The agency is actually over-staffed; since 2000 air traffic has declined 23 percent, but the controller headcount has actually gone up
• Contrary to their claims, the agency does have flexibility to reallocate some of the budget cuts
 
Congress didn’t bother pointing out any of these facts though. They just zoomed in the save us all from a “crisis” they helped to manufacture.

The jig is up on Obama’s ridiculous flight delay stunt. It’s time to stop playing games and admit that sequestration is nothing like the huge, savage spending cuts the president tried to scare the American people about. In fact, it’s only a small first step toward the much bigger cuts that are needed to limit the size and intrusiveness of the federal government.

That’s right. The UK Daily Mail reported on the Romeikes’ story last month: Home-schooling family who fled to U.S. from Germany face deportation: Parents face charges and $9,000 fine for taking kids out school as Obama officials prepare to send them back.
 

Some history ~

The German government prevented Uwe and Hannelore Romeike from teaching their five children at home instead of sending them to government-run schools, fining them and threatening to prosecute them if they (didn’t) obey.
 
When they took their three oldest children out of school in 2006, police showed up at their house within 24 hours, only leaving after a group of supporters showed up and organized a quick protest.
 
But their legal troubles were just beginning. Germany began fining the family, ultimately racking up a bill of more than 7,000 Euros ($9,000).
 
After they fled to the United States in 2010, the Romeike family found a home in Tennessee.

 

When they arrived here, a U.S. court granted political asylum to the family on the basis of religious persecution in Germany. But then, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) decided to appeal the asylum decision in 2012. Why?
 
Unbelievably, the Obama administration hasn’t provided any real justification for their action. Although, according to Attorney General Holder; banning homeschooling wouldn’t violate fundamental liberties.
 
Oh really?
As the Daily Mail reports ~

Germany made school attendance mandatory in 1918. During the Nazi era, that law was made even more restrictive to ensure that young Germans were indoctrinated with Adolph Hitler’s national socialist ideology.
 
The German Supreme Court has ruled that it wants to ‘counteract the development of religious and philosophically motivated parallel societies,’ Michael Farris (founding chairman Home School Legal Defense Association) explained. ‘And that’s a direct quote.’
 
‘We want to give them a safe harbor. That’s what asylum is for.’

 
Hey isn’t that what the first Europeans came to America for; freedom from religious persecution? Guess that was a long time ago…
 
Fast-forward to the enlightened 21st century, where it seems Obama & Co. don’t believe parents have a fundamental right to educate their own children. Four hundred years after the pilgrims arrived, the ruling class gets to decide what worldview will be imposed on the peasants.

Who are the sort of families the Obama Administration grants asylum to these days? Well, those like the Boston Marathon bombers’ ~

Though they had convinced the U.S. that they faced deadly persecution, the Tsarnaevs’ parents both returned to their native land and were there when their sons launched last week’s terror rampage. Authorities will not reveal any details of the sob stories the Tsarnaevs originally spun to win asylum benefits for the entire family.

 
What an appalling double standard!

The Daily Mail article concludes with this assessment of the Romeike’s case from HSLDA’s Farris ~

He believes there are likely only three possibilities that would explain why the Obama administration is working so hard to deport the Romeike family.
 
‘It could be that the government is just anti-homeschooling, or anti-religious-freedom,’ Farris said. ‘Or perhaps they have some deal with the German government.’
 
‘I don’t know which it is, but none of the options is pretty.’
