Not Your Parent’s Cartoons

Just when you think the entertainment industry can’t sink much lower they surprise you by discovering even deeper muck to wade into. And it would be bad enough if the filth they keep churning out was only available to “consenting adults.” But the crap has become so pervasive it’s almost impossible to prevent even very young children from being exposed to it.

The latest? X-rated cartoons – on the Fox network. As CNS reports, last weekend Fox started airing ~

… a number of animated shows that contain sexually explicit and profanity-laced content never before shown on network television during its “Animation Domination High-Def” (ADHD) programming block.

The X-rated cartoons, some of which feature full frontal nudity and cartoon characters engaging in sexual activity, are modeled after Cartoon Network’s “Adult Swim” and will also be available on the internet.

The Parents Television Council (PTC) is fighting back with an action alert; getting the message out to concerned parents and grandparents, and making sure Fox and the show’s sponsors hear from offended consumers. CNS talked to PTC’s director of public policy Dan Isett;

… the programming contain(s) some “adult-oriented material, certainly raunchy and inappropriate for an awful lot of audiences and frankly beyond the pale. It’s not really material that we’ve really seen produced by a mainstream media company before.”

Along with clips from the shows available unfiltered online, two of the shows, ‘Axe Cop’ and ‘High School USA’, are slated to premier Saturday evening with others following in the future. Shows that are already produced and distributed online contain full (male and female) frontal nudity, decomposing bodies, and numerous characters engaging in sexual activity, including one character using his genitalia to hit women.

Isett warned that FOX intends to move the programming into an earlier time slot. “They’ve made [it] clear that they want to move this material into primetime. So, some people might say, ‘Oh, well, what’s the big deal? It’s going to air at 10 o’clock at night, [so] kids shouldn’t be in the audience,’ but there are two major problems.

“One is that obviously, you have time-shifted programming (which means) the stuff could be recorded then viewed anytime; and second is that the network has made (it) very clear that they want to move this type of material into primetime where it will have a potential audience of tens of millions of children.”

ADHD programs have titles that give little hint of the shows’ graphic content, such as ‘My Little Cowboys’ and ‘Scientifically Accurate Ninja Turtles.’ These titles, along with the two shows airing Saturday, are what (Tim) Winter (PTC president) says is part of a slick move by FOX to attract a younger audience than claimed.

The producers and sponsors of these shows are truly sick. Is there anything they wouldn’t promote for the almighty dollar? We really need to tell them enough already.

O’Ministration Establishes Official Ministry of Propaganda

Seriously?

Gov’t Knows Best? White House creates ‘nudge squad’ to shape behavior ~

The federal government is hiring what it calls a “Behavioral Insights Team” that will look for ways to subtly influence people’s behavior, according to a document describing the program obtained by FoxNews.com.

[At least Obama is finally delivering that “transparency” he promised ~
“We’re gonna be totally open about our mind-control experiments
on the American sheeple.”]

While the program is still in its early stages, the document shows the White House is already working on such projects with almost a dozen federal departments and agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Agriculture.

“Behavioral sciences can be used to help design public policies that work better, cost less, and help people to achieve their goals,” reads the government document describing the program, which goes on to call for applicants to apply for positions on the team.[…]

The idea is that the team would “experiment” with various techniques, with the goal of tweaking behavior so people do everything from saving more for retirement to saving more in energy costs.

“Tweaking behavior”?! When did the American people become a bunch of lab rats?

Such policies — which encourage behavior subtly rather than outright require it — have come to be known as “nudges,” after an influential 2008 book titled “Nudge” by former Obama regulatory czar Cass Sunstein and Chicago Booth School of Business professor Richard Thaler popularized the term.

I can’t find much on Thaler other than Nudges.org (a blog that tries awfully hard to put a happy face on mind-control), but Joseph Goebbels, the Third Reich’s Minister of Public Enlightenment & Propaganda, would have loved Cass Sunstein. (There’s even an eerie physical resemblance 👿 Similar hairlines anyway.) Way back in 2010, even lefty Salon.com found him rather unsettling; Obama confidant’s spine-chilling proposal ~

In 2008, while at Harvard Law School, Sunstein co-wrote a truly pernicious paper proposing that the U.S. Government employ teams of covert agents and pseudo-”independent” advocates to “cognitively infiltrate” online groups and websites — as well as other activist groups — which advocate views that Sunstein deems “false conspiracy theories” about the Government. This would be designed to increase citizens’ faith in government officials and undermine the credibility of conspiracists.

Remember, this was three and a half years ago…

Indeed, there is a very strong case to make that what Sunstein is advocating is itself illegal under long-standing statutes prohibiting government ”propaganda” within the U.S., aimed at American citizens:

As explained in a March 21, 2005 report by the Congressional Research Service, “publicity or propaganda” is defined by the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) to mean either (1) self-aggrandizement by public officials, (2) purely partisan activity, or (3) “covert propaganda.” By covert propaganda, GAO means information which originates from the government but is unattributed and made to appear as though it came from a third party.

Covert government propaganda is exactly what Sunstein craves. His mentality is indistinguishable from the Bush mindset that led to these abuses, and he hardly tries to claim otherwise. Indeed, he favorably cites both the covert Lincoln Park program as well as Paul Bremer’s closing of Iraqi newspapers which published stories the U.S. Government disliked, and justifies them as arguably necessary to combat “false conspiracy theories” in Iraq — the same goal Sunstein has for the U.S.

Actually, now that the O’ministration is being all up-front about it, it’s overt government propaganda (like Michelle’s Healthy Kids initiative, global warming EPA alarmists, and Barack’s constant stream of B.S.) and therefore totally legal apparently. Aren’t oligarchies fun?

“A lie told often enough becomes the truth.” ~ Vladimir Lenin

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fox News asked Richard Thaler for his opinion on the new Ministry of Propaganda “Behavioral Insights Team.” He provided a “nudge” of his own – make that a bludgeon;
“I don’t know who those people are who would not want such a program, but they must either be misinformed or misguided,” he said.
Yes comrade, those of us who object to government-imposed thought control are just a bunch of mindless rubes.
Glenn Greenwald, the author of the Jan. 15, 2010 post at Salon.com, concluded his article with this astute analysis;
The reason conspiracy theories resonate so much is precisely that people have learned — rationally — to distrust government actions and statements. Sunstein’s proposed covert propaganda scheme is a perfect illustration of why that is. In other words, people don’t trust the Government and “conspiracy theories” are so pervasive precisely because government is typically filled with people like Cass Sunstein, who think that systematic deceit and government-sponsored manipulation are justified by their own Goodness and Superior Wisdom.
Stand up to the secular bullies!
Just ran across an excellent article by Doug Giles at ClashDaily. Posted on July 8th, it’s titled; It’s Time Christians Told Those Who Seek to Silence Them, ‘Yeah, Right’~
Two weeks ago a Sonoma State University student was ordered by one of the Seawolves’ lunatic supervisors to remove her cross necklace because some tender moron, who goes to that liberal madrasa, might get their panties in a wad.
Yep, the overseer thought the cross accoutrement was vulgar. This is the same school that, with their easily offended students, put on The Vagina Monologues last March 9th, 2013.
Let me see if I have this right: a pretty gold cross necklace on a blonde co-ed is nasty and a yarbling, six-foot feminist yapping about rape, mutilation, masturbation and orgasms is “funny, poignant, intelligent and courageous”? Well, color me purple.
Before I get labeled some buckle-shoed, puritanical killjoy that wants to burn vagina puppets and have everyone watch TBN ad nauseam, let me be clear: I don’t give a crap what you do, just don’t ask me to pay for it or cheer you on. That said, I’m sick of the tolerant being intolerant of expressions of faith, whether it be in word or in jewelry. Why don’t you grow a little thicker skin, Miss Priss?
The secularists on the Left want Christians to hide their faith, to back down and essentially be ashamed of whom they believe in and what the word of God says.
The examples are ubiquitous. Whether it’s screaming “Verboten” at some chick’s cross necklace, or flippin’ out over our soldiers’ praying before they wolf down their MRE’s, or cheerleaders’ making positive banners with bible passages, or our legislators’ appealing to the Decalogue for policy, the thought police are in a full court press trying to get us to zip it when it comes to expressing our faith, all while they tout the most bizarre behaviors known to mankind.
As a Christian, I’m personally tired of seeing Christians being cowed by culture and the state. If someone can wave a flag that they love anal sex from someone of the same sex or scream “hail Satan” in praise of killing pre-born kids, then I think a Christian soldier should be able to say, “God bless you”, when someone sneezes, without being kicked out of the Army as an aggressive proselytizer.
Look, who knows if the intolerant tolerant will ever cease to be reflexively irate? One thing is for certain: whether or not they do or don’t, the Christian is commanded, at all times, to be bold with his beliefs in the midst of opposition.
It’s amazing what just one spark of inspiration can do.
Obama-rama-ding-dong
While Barack Obama has barely acknowledged any Christian holidays throughout his tenancy in the White House (even though he did claim to be a Christian prior to being elected), he seems to have a great deal of affinity for Muslim holy days. He’s made a point of recognizing Ramadan every year now, welcoming the opportunity it affords him to lecture we infidels on the virtues of the Religion of Peace. 2013 was no exception.
Here he was pontificating at the iftar dinner he hosted Thursday night:
… throughout our history, Islam has contributed to the character of our country.
How so? (I know early on we had some serious issues with the Barbary pirates“From the halls of Montezuma to the shores of Tripoli…”)
Muslim Americans, and their good works, have helped to build our nation — and we’ve seen the results…
What the h**l is he talking about? The 9-11 terrorists? The Boston bombers?!
Every day, Muslim Americans are helping to shape the way that we think and the way that we work and the way that we do business.
That’s actually true. Now we need the TSA to pat down old ladies and strip search little kids.
And that’s the spirit that we celebrate tonight — the dreamers, the creators whose ideas are pioneering new industries, creating new jobs and unleashing new opportunities for all of us.
You really don’t know whether to laugh or cry do you?
“As the Koran teaches, whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see its results.” ~ Barack Obama
As holy scripture teaches;
A perverse man sows strife,
And a whisperer separates the best of friends.
A violent man entices his neighbor,
and leads him in a way that is not good.
He winks his eye to devise perverse things;
He purses his lips and brings about evil.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing,
but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.
Saturday Shorts – 7-27-13
Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:
MRC Special Report: The Media Censorship That Put Barack Obama Back in the White House ~ Analysis of the news coverage for various stories leading up to the 2012 election proves that anything that reflected negatively on the president was pointedly and consistently ignored. Brent Bozell and Tim Graham have a new book out – “Collusion: How the Media Stole the 2012 Election” – detailing the whole sordid tale.
Speaking of selective media coverage, remember when George W. Bush was president and we had to hear endlessly about Abu Ghraib and the shameless conduct of American troops? Oddly enough, this event – Iraq: Hundreds of Inmates Escape Abu Ghraib Prison (July 22, 2013) – barely warranted a mention.
Uncle Ho and the Founding Fathers ~ Communists and fellow travelers are forced to rewrite history to foster their evil ambitions.
Petition of the week: Call to legalize ‘fourth trimester abortions’ ~ Video shows college students are more than happy to sign on to the proposal. As one viewer, with the handle “Auntie Socialist,” observed:
Their problem is not lack of intelligence. It’s stupidity and gullability, i.e. atrophy of intelligence. They are told 24/7 what to think and are rewarded for parroting back the right attitudes. They become consummate BS artists and paradoxically, they are unable themselves to recognize BS when presented with it.
The Idiot’s Foreign Policy ~ What Syria’s all about. And why Senator-“Hey -Let’s arm the terrorists!”-McCain must be getting senile and needs to be put out to pasture.
Statism Is Turning America Into Detroit – Ayn Rand’s Starnesville Come To Life ~ As Daniel Hannan points out; “Atlas Shrugged” was eerily prescient.
If Obama Had a City, It Would Look Like Detroit ~ Sad but true ~
Detroit is an apropos metaphor for Obama’s America. It is the prototypical terminal manifestation of the Democratic Party’s socialist economic policies that have created ever-expanding urban poverty plantations in once-great cities across the nation. That in turn drives the departure of middle-class families for greener pastures in outlying suburban counties with better schools and lower crime.
The Gay Card: Advancing Sodomy ~ The homosexual movement is progressing like steamroller. Still stuck with your Juedeo-Christian ethics? Prepare to be flattened.
[Warning: the content-driven auto-ads on this site actually make it appear that they’re advancing the LGBT agenda. I’m pretty sure they’re not.]
CA Republican Wins Seat in Dist. with 60% Hispanics, 22-Pt. Dem Advantage ~ A glimmer of hope – conservative principles defeat progressive demographics in the battleground of ideas – even in LaLa land ~
(Andy) Vidak’s theme of “fish versus farmer” resonated with Democrats in a District where the unemployment rate is 15% and as high as 30% in some communities in the District. Vidak reminded voters that liberal environmentalists, in order to protect fish, only allowed farmers to receive 20% of their water allocation, crippling the region’s economy. He also stressed that Perez (his Dem. opponent) supported the the state’s high-speed rail project that would have razed business, farms, and homes in the District. Because she supported the agenda of coastal elites and Democrat interest groups, Perez was able to raise twice as much money as Vidak, but 16th District voters ultimately rejected her liberal policies.
Prayer for Zimbabwe ~ From Judi McLeod/ at Canada Free Press. No matter the continent, power-hungry demagogues create racial strife, class warfare, tragedy for some, and equal misery for all. Over the past few decades, Pres. Robert Mugabe has trashed the country that was once the bread basket of southern Africa. There’s an election on July 31st. Let’s pray that it’s not stolen again ~
From untold millions who know about Zimbabwe comes a most hopeful prayer: “Please God, let a Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai victory end the heartache and misery and return peace to Zimbabwe beginning this Wednesday.”
Analyzing the Motor City Meltown – While the council focuses on Florida
In this recent video from PJ Media, Bill Whittle, Scott Ott and Stephen Green discuss the economic reasons behind the downfall of Detroit. Basically, they agree with those of us who have had the unpleasant experience of observing the demise up-close and personal;
• the union entitlement mentality of the Big Three workers eventually permeated the entire city and nearest suburbs; and,
• the “Red State” model for prosperity was totally discarded once Progressive Democrats came to power in the 60’s. Limited taxes, limited benefits and reduced regulations became anathema to the city’s ruling class.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

In the meantime, rather than spending time dealing with Detroit’s financial crisis, what’s the illustrious city council doing? Voting and passing a resolution supporting a federal investigation into George Zimmerman. From Fox News ~

The unanimous vote by the members of the Detroit council on a crime that took place six states and hundreds of miles away came just two days after the Motor City’s latest gun-related death – its 176th homicide of the year.

“Sure, the city’s in bankruptcy. Detroit is flat broke. Pensioners are about to lose their livelihoods, and Southeast Michigan has sailed over the precipice of financial ruin. All of this happened while the Council continued, for decades, to squawk at each other,” conservative columnist Robert Laurie wrote.

“Outsiders were portrayed as the source of the city’s ills as the council continued on its path to ruin,” Laurie said. “Everything that occurred within Detroit’s borders was blamed on something outside of Motown. Theft was the fault of the national economy. Poverty was the result of American racial norms. Violence was simply a reaction to hostile suburbanites.”

Perhaps if the feckless council spent less time fanning the flames of racial discord, and more time on responsible fiscal management, Motown wouldn’t have collapsed on their watch.

Are we each living in our own “filter bubble?”

It’s not just the NSA spying on us, the data mining/target marketing that Google, facebook and other search/social media sites are engaged in is insidious. Here’s an interesting TED* talk video that explains how the data mining is just the beginning. The information being gathered is being used to filter, personalize, and limit the data coming back to us ~

In case video access has been withdrawn… you can watch it HERE.

Video ironically brought to you by … Google :mrgreen:
(The TED talk portion is 9 minutes. It’s followed by a short but
inspiring story of perseverance and innovation.)

Sounds plausible. If search engines/algorithms are funneling only limited, personalized data to each individual internet user, it could certainly explain the low-information voter phenomenon. The truth has been unable to break through each unique “filter bubble.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
*Caveat: I’m not exactly enamored with the whole TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) movement; they purport to be open to all viewpoints ~
Today, TED is best thought of as a global community. It’s a community welcoming people from every discipline and culture who seek a deeper understanding of the world.
(But the “deeper understanding” automatically precludes any supernatural explanations, i.e., “God.”)
Why Christians Should Be Speaking Up about the Surveillance State ~
Our Founding Fathers saw the Bill of Rights as providing barriers against government overreach and abuse.
People (particularly people in governments with power) could not be trusted to have no checks on their power. Why? Well, some of it had to do with history. For example, a bill of rights was an English concept preceeding the American experiment. But, some of those colonists held the view because of biblical convictions about fallen nature and the need to protect rights that some might want to take away. […]
Perhaps too many (Christians today) do not see a correlation between dignity of all persons made in the image of God and constitutional rights, a free society and a realistic view of what power does to people.
The Bizarro World of MSNBC
Well, it appears the inmates are officially running the asylum at MSNBC. In case you missed it, this is now what passes for “journalism” on ObamAmerica…
Melissa Harris-Perry sports the latest in Progressive fashion
accessories. You sure have “come a long way baby!”
When Melissa Harris-Perry last popped up on my radar she was arrogantly informing us that our kids belong to the collective – not us. This time it was her immature reaction to the newly-enacted Texas Abortion Bill on her morning show last Sunday.
From Mediaite ~
“My producer Lorena made for me last week some tampon earrings,” Harris-Perry said as she put on the jewelry. “The Texas state legislature said that you couldn’t bring tampons in, when these women were going to, in fact, stand up for their own reproductive rights.”
I love that “reproductive rights.” Honey you have the right to reproduce (although some of us might wish you wouldn’t). You shouldn’t have the right to kill your baby.
During a second special session of the Texas legislature, security in the Capitol building briefly banned tampons from the rotunda for fear that the feminine products would be tossed at lawmakers passing the last-minute bill. The earlier protests had been so disruptive that Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst had been unable to call a vote on the bill, resulting in an embarrassing but temporary setback for Texas Republicans, who vowed not to let demonstrators get the better of them again. But Capitol security got a bit overzealous in confiscating tampons from female protestors, a policy they quickly reversed after it garnered national attention.
“When statesmen forsake their own private conscience…”
Had a chance to see A Man for All Seasons once again this past weekend – on the big screen(!) – and was reminded of one of the best lines, in one of the best films – ever:
“Well, I think that when statesmen forsake their own private
conscience for the sake of their public duties, they lead their
country by a short route to chaos.”
Sir More, who was unquestionably the most respected statesman of England during his time, was placed under unimaginable pressure to swear an oath recognizing the “Succession to the Crown Act 1533” which King Henry VIII had gotten passed through Parliament as a means to become “Supreme Head of the Catholic Church.” The act took that title and authority away from the succession of the Papacy; or at least in legal terms it did. King Henry had the act passed because of the Pope’s refusal to recognize the annulment of the Henry’s marriage to Catherine of Aragon after she was never able to give birth to a son. By the King becoming the Supreme Head of the Church he was able to declare himself divorced from his wife (freeing him to marry Anne Boleyn). But Sir More, who was also Secretary and Personal Advisor to King Henry, steadfastly refused to take the oath and even resigned all of his offices including his office as Chancellor.
Eventually Sir More was imprisoned at The Tower of London and was found guilty of “high treason”, though the verdict was clearly fixed against him. He was beheaded 5 days later. Upon the scaffold just before his execution he is recorded as saying that he died “the king’s good servant, but God’s first.”
[Source: The South Carolina Conservative]
Is there anyone in the halls of Congress today who could hold a candle to this man?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I pray that we individual Christians won’t need the courage of a Sir Thomas More to stand up to this current godless government of ours. Although I have every confidence that He’ll help us find it if we do.
