The Democrats’ disgruntled Women in White

Lots of speculation today as to why the radical leftist women of the Democrat party chose to dress in white for the State of the Union address on Tuesday night. Some have said they were showing allegiance to the suffragette movement of one hundred years ago. If that was the case they’re mis-remembering history since the Nineteenth Amendment – which granted women the right to vote – was firmly opposed by Democrats from proposal to ratification (It was Republicans who defeated the Democrats’ War on Women 96-years-ago).

Considering the racist history of their party, this theory was trending on social media 😀
GalsinWhite2

Their theatrics – not just the costumes but their overall demeanor – in addition to displaying a total lack of respect for the office of the president and the chamber of the House, exposed them for the self-absorbed malcontents they truly are. While the group couldn’t bring themselves to clap for America, freedom, free enterprise, law enforcement heroes, record low unemployment for women and minorities, or the right of babies to live – they applauded wildly for themselves.

GalsinWhite1

In any event – since they looked particularly pained when the president denounced socialism – (“We are born free and we will stay free.”) we can safely assume that these distinguished representatives were not sporting white in solidarity with Cuba’s Ladies in White* ~

Cuba: Nearly 200 political arrests in January as Castro regime kicks off February with more violent repression ~

Cuba’s Castro dictatorship racked up 179 political arrests during the month of January, most of them violent and the majority of those arrested were women. The violent repression continues in February as the Cuban regime violently oppressed the Ladies in White on Sunday for attempting to march peacefully to church services.

The Castro family dictatorship continues to violently oppress and jail dissidents despite attempts to change their appearance by placing sock puppet president Miguel Diaz-Canel in the spotlight […]

Meanwhile, the Castro dictatorship kicked off the first Sunday of February with violent repression against the Ladies in White. Angel Moya, dissident and husband of Ladies in White leader Berta Soler, posted these photos on social media of his wife’s violent arrest on Sunday outside the group’s headquarters in Havana.

How many of those smugly entitled white-clad leftists in Congress would take any sort of meaningful stand for truly oppressed women in a communist regime?

Everyone stood up and applauded at that moment, except for Ocasio-Cortez, who took several moments to look around to see if she should stand. After seeing everyone else stand she begrudgingly stood, but refused to clap, even as most of her Democratic colleagues did so.

Far-Left Democrats Are Normalizing Anti-Semitism In Democratic Party ~

Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — all new members of Congress — have all defended anti-Semites or espoused anti-Semitic positions over the last several months.

The disturbing trend comes as the U.S. experienced the worst anti-Semitic attack in the nation’s history in October 2018 after a man walked into the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh and murdered 11 people, later telling law enforcement that he wanted all Jews to die.

“Never Forget”

Today is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, created by the United Nations – as Tal Keinan points out – to remember and honor the 6 million Jews and millions of others murdered on orders of the Nazis who ruled Germany from 1933 through the end of World War II in 1945.

Unfortunately, too many Americans not only don’t remember, thanks to our inept public schools, they never learned about the Holocaust in the first place ~

Keinan expanded on the importance of never forgetting the horrors of ethnic genocide that mankind is capable of – and reminds us of the need for continuing vigilance ~

(A)anti-Semitism isn’t a short-lived scourge that existed only during the brief period when the Nazis held power. Hatred of Jews has afflicted people of diverse ethnicities, religions and political views for 2,000 years. It should surprise nobody that it afflicts some leaders today.

I flew fighter jets in the Israeli Air Force for 18 years. Many of my missions targeted Hezbollah surface-to-surface missile launchers and their crews. The missiles they fired were almost invariably aimed at Jewish civilians in Israel – my neighbors, my children.

The terrorist missiles were fired in the service of overtly anti-Semitic, genocidal ideologies. This is still the case today. The only reason these particular anti-Semites have not been as successful as the Nazis is that a Jewish army now stands between them and their intended victims.

This has sadly not been the case for the rest of Middle Eastern Jewry over the past century. Jewish populations from around the region have disappeared.

The ancient Jewish community of Baghdad in Iraq – more than 1,000 years older than Islam itself – was violently persecuted and then expelled in its entirety.

Even Judaism’s holiest cities – the old city of Jerusalem and Hebron – were ethnically cleansed of 100 percent of their Jews during Jordan’s 19-year rule in the West Bank that ended in 1967.

There are virtually no Middle Eastern Jews today outside of the one Jewish state of Israel, which absorbed nearly all of the region’s 1 million Jewish refugees. It is Jewish sovereignty, and the Israel Defense Forces, that have kept these Jews alive […]

Dr. Martin Luther King – a devoted friend of Israel and the Jewish people, whose memory America has honored with a national holiday – said it best when he condemned all forms of hatred: “Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.”

4th Sunday in Advent

advent4

O Lord, raise up (we pray Thee) Thy power, and come among us, and with great might succor us;
that whereas, through our sins and wickedness, we are sore let and hindered in running the race that is set before us, Thy bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us;
through the satisfaction of Thy Son our Lord, to whom with Thee and the Holy Ghost be honour and glory, world without end. ~ Amen

advent3

O Lord Jesus Christ, who at Thy first coming didst send Thy messenger to prepare Thy way before Thee;
Grant that the ministers and stewards of Thy mysteries may likewise so prepare and make ready Thy way, by turning the hearts of the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, that at Thy second coming to judge the world we may be found an acceptable people in Thy sight, who livest and reignest with the Father and the Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end. ~ Amen

2nd Sunday in Advent

Blessed Lord, who hast caused all holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:
Grant that we may in such wise hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and comfort of Thy holy Word, we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life,
which Thou hast given us in our Savior Jesus Christ.

1st Sunday in Advent

Almighty God, give us grace that we may cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life, in which Thy Son, Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility;
that in the last day, when He shall come again in His glorious Majesty, to judge both the quick and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal;
through Him who liveth and reigneth with Thee and the Holy Ghost, now and ever. ~ Amen

Restoring lives through God’s love

Prison Fellowship is a non-profit Christian organization founded by Chuck Colson, a man whose personal story is one of amazing transformation ~
chuckcolson

In 1974, Chuck Colson, a former top aide to President Nixon, voluntarily pled guilty to obstruction of justice on a Watergate-related charge and served seven months as a new Christian in Alabama’s Maxwell Prison.

I found myself increasingly drawn to the idea that God had put me in prison for a purpose and that I should do something for those I had left behind.

In his best-selling memoir, Born Again, Chuck wrote, “I found myself increasingly drawn to the idea that God had put me in prison for a purpose and that I should do something for those I had left behind.”

Colson emerged from prison with a new mission: mobilizing the Christian Church to minister to prisoners. He founded Prison Fellowship® in 1976, which has become the nation’s largest Christian nonprofit serving prisoners, former prisoners, and their families, and a leading advocate for criminal justice reform.

Here’s the story of one man whose life has been dramatically changed through the Prison Fellowship Academy, at the Carol S. Vance Unit in Texas ~

For Dennis, it’s the Academy staff and volunteers who have had the most impact. He doesn’t take them for granted. “They could be at home doing so many other things,” he says, but “they sacrifice their time and their effort just to come and to hang out with you, and to pour into you and to encourage you to do better and to be better.”

Not that long ago, Dennis was given a choice—he could be released soon, or he could stay at the Academy and be released later. He chose to stay.

While at Carol Vance, Dennis has had the chance to reconnect with his son and daughter. Had he pursued his release, he would have been too focused on himself to allow God to restore his family.

Had he gotten out, “There [are] so many things I would have missed. I would have missed a tremendous amount of blessings that I have received since I’ve been here.”

“I used to be a selfish person,” Dennis says. “A lot of times I was only concerned about myself and no one else. I didn’t care about anyone else. But through Prison Fellowship I have learned to be considerate of others.”

God has worked in Dennis’ heart and called him to reach out to others, especially younger men and women. He hopes his life can be a testimony to others—an example that inspires the next generation.

“If you’re traveling a road of being in trouble, then let my life be an example to you [of] where it goes,” he says. “You don’t have to take that road.”

And Jesus looking upon them said, “With men it is impossible,
but not with God: for with God all things are possible.”

Saturday Shorts – 11-24-18

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Our quiet Sun produces “Musical Waves” in Earth’s Magnetic Field ~ In a randomly, evolved universe, what are the odds of a phenomenon like this occurring?

This week in Norway, a space weather observatory detected sine waves of exceptional purity rippling through Earth’s polar magnetic field. The waves, which persisted for hours with nearly perfect pitch […]

When a stream of solar wind hits Earth, magnetometers around the Arctic Circle normally go haywire, their needles swinging chaotically as local magnetic fields react to the buffeting of the solar wind. On Nov. 18th, however, something quite different happened. Solar wind hit Earth and produced … a pure, almost-musical sine wave

Euthanasia Activists Want Canada to Allow Killing Mentally Incompetent Patients ~ The next big slide down that slippery slope to hell. The easier it becomes to end a human life, the less value each life will have ~

(A woman with cancer that had spread to her brain) teamed up with Dying with Dignity to advocate for a change in the law that would make prior consent adequate – that is, that consent to euthanasia in advance directives would be sufficient if the person were mentally incompetent.

On the other hand ~ 24% Fewer Babies Have Been Killed in Abortions Over the Last Ten Years ~ Definitely something to be thankful for :)

Abortion rates are the lowest they’ve been in a decade, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Abortions that were reported from 2006 to 2015 in participating areas fell 24 percent, from 842,855 to 638,169.

Pro-Life Australian Senator Mockingly Announces Gender Change So He Can Speak Out on Abortion ~ Creative engagement! We need more of this ~

A male Australian senator mockingly proclaimed himself to be a woman before parliament last week so that he, as a pro-life male, could speak against abortion. Barry O’Sullivan made the announcement after being criticized for his faith and told he could not understand abortion because it is a women’s issue, Catholic News Agency reports.

“I’m going to declare my gender today, as I can, to be a woman, and then you’ll no longer be able to attack me,” O’Sullivan said.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Won’t Be the One to Finally Make Socialism Work ~ Because, like lipstick on a pig – as someone famously said – it will never work ~

Because Ocasio-Cortez is relatively young and attractive, along with being committed to socialism, she supposedly has the capabilities to team up with Bernie Sanders and bring about socialism that will not result in a loss of liberties, or drive whole societies into poverty, or at least that is what progressives believe.[…]

It is doubly-ironic that Ocasio-Cortez was an economics major at Boston University, although one doubts that economics taught there would differ from the usual statism that dominates most college economics programs. One doubts that she intellectually internalized anything that would resemble price theory and certainly would not be able to identify anything resembling a shortage or surplus. That she will advocate for government intervention and establishment of programs that almost certainly will lead to shortages should not be lost on anyone.

DC Pundits Get Almost Everything Wrong About Trump’s Saudi Posture ~ The first thing we need to understand is that the Arab world plays by a different of rules than the West. Mollie Hemingway offers some great analysis on the reaction to Trump’s reaction to Khashoggi’s murder ~

When determining U.S. interests in a region, the decision isn’t between finding saints to work with or forming no alliances. The decision is figuring out who to work with, if anyone, to advance U.S. interests.

Village moves to seize popular Chinese restaurant for nonexistent developers ~ Why do progressive big-government types always want to run everyone else’s life?

Chicago suburb failed once, but is trying again to redevelop its downtown and displace a business popular for more than 40 years […]

Attorney Robert McNamara (with the firm that litigated the eminent domain Kelo case in Connecticut) sees such local government projects as problematic.

“If they had any talent as real estate investors, they’d be real estate investors. But they’re not. They’re local government officials,” he said. “Their best option [to encourage growth] is to stop getting in the way of economic development.”

Missionary in Honduras: Don’t Validate Anarchy Here By Letting the Caravan In ~ A unique perspective we rarely get, from the migrants’ point of origin. Do we really want to import a new pathology into America?

Any Honduran could tell countless other stories of corruption and lack of police response. All lead to disorder and despair on a national level. Currently an international audience is watching on television what we see played out daily. That is, large masses who have very little respect for laws, boundaries and authority. They act as they do in large part because they have not had a healthy authority to trust in. Nor do they understand that actual consequences await when one breaks a law.

Brit scientists develop genetically modified virus that kills cancer cells ~ Whoa! A cure for cancer? This sounds legit. Shouldn’t it be front page news?

A genetically-modified virus that kills cancer cells and destroys their hiding places has been developed by British scientists.
It targets both cancer cells and healthy cells that are tricked into protecting the cancer from the immune system.

Michigan court gives FGM a pass

In this week’s episode of “Disorder in the Court,”
we learn that it’s now constitutional to mutilate the genitals of
young girls, for the purposes of denying them sexual pleasure in
the future, in the name of multiculturalism ~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Federal judge orders female genital mutilation charges dropped in Detroit ~
DETROIT (WJBK) – A federal judge has dismissed six charges of female genital mutilation against a doctor, declaring the nation’s female genital mutilation law as unconstitutional.
The federal judge in Detroit ruled in the historic case on Tuesday, ruling the law that prevents female genital mutilation (FGM) is unconstitutional. U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman ruled that congress does not have the authority to make FGM illegal, which it had been classified as illegal under the Necessary and Proper Clause or the Commerce Clause.
Jumana Nagarwala was arrested in April 2017. It appears she was the first person charged under a federal law, passed in 1996, which made the practice a felony. But now Judge Friedman has decided that it’s perfectly OK to perform this unsafe, unnecessary and frankly, misogynistic, procedure ~
FGM removes some or all of external female genitalia. There is no medical benefit to the procedure, which causes severe pain and serious health problems. It usually occurs in Africa, Asia and the Middle East. The World Health Organization calls FGM “a violation of the human rights of girls and women.” The organization notes that over 200 million women and girls currently living have undergone the procedure.
Friedman cited the Constitution’s Commerce Clause in his ruling, saying the “power to outlaw female genital mutilation … belonged to individual states.” Michigan actually has such a law in place – and it’s more harsh than the federal one (a 15 year prison sentence vs. 5 years under federal law). Unfortunately, it was passed after Nagarwala was arrested.
US District Judge Bernard Friedman concluded that “as despicable as this practice may be,” Congress does not have the authority to make it a federal law and criminalize the practice.
Why not? As CBN News points out ~
Female Genital Mutilation is currently banned worldwide and has been outlawed in more than 30 countries.
Apparently, Judge Friedman thinks the United States should stand with the barbaric nations who still allow this hideous practice.
America’s First FGM Trial: Ruling Was ‘Inhuman’ ~ Op-Ed from Shireen Qudosi (Clarion Project’s National Correspondent) ~
The judge’s announcement came the same day as International Children’s Day, and the U.S. legal system failed to protect American girls against a dehumanizing cultural practice that reduces a girl’s value to little more than a breeder. For the last year since this trial came to surface, activists have struggled to pass laws against FGM because what is clearly gender violence is camouflaged as a community practice and protected as such.
