Moving Beyond Two Parents?

Apparently social breakdown isn’t occurring fast enough for the progressive crowd. No matter the overwhelming evidence that the traditional family; one mother and one father, is the best environment for children, they keep coming up with new ways to destroy it.

For instance, in California – always on the cutting edge of cultural insanity – state Senator Mark Leno has introduced legislation that would allow a child to have multiple parents. From The Miami Herald:

“The bill brings California into the 21st century, recognizing that there are more than Ozzie and Harriet families today,” the San Francisco Democrat said.

Surrogate births, same-sex parenthood and assisted reproduction are changing society by creating new possibilities for nontraditional households and relationships.

Benjamin Lopez, legislative analyst for the Traditional Values Coalition, blasted Leno’s bill as a new attempt to “revamp, redefine and muddy the waters” of family structure by a leader in the drive to legalize gay marriage.

“It comes as no surprise that he would try to say that a child has more than two parents – that’s absurd,” said Lopez, whose group calls itself a leading voice for Bible-based values.

Under Leno’s bill, if three or more people who acted as parents could not agree on custody, visitation and child support, a judge could split those things up among them.

SB 1476 is not meant to expand the definition of who can qualify as a parent, only to eliminate the limit of two per child.

Even more outrageous, we have this brave new development: British Bioethics Council Gives OK to Three-Parent Embryo, reported by Life News.
Ostensibly to prevent genetic diseases from being inherited, this development will effectively allow scientists to create new forms of parentage in the laboratory.

Three-parent” fertility treatments designed to prevent some incurable inherited diseases would be ethical and should go ahead as long as research shows they are likely to be safe and effective, a British medical ethics panel said on Tuesday.

The Nuffield Council on Bioethics said the treatments – which have become known as three-parent in vitro fertilization (IVF) because the offspring have genes from a mother, father and from a female donor – should be offered to affected families together with full information and expert support.

“If these treatments are successful, these children would be among the first in the world to have a genetic connection to not two people, but three people,” said Geoff Watts, who chaired a Nuffield inquiry into the issue. “There are a number of ethical questions that arise and needed to be considered.”

Ya think?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Divorce, re-marriage, shack-ups, unmarried mothers – all that’s not enough for the social deconstructionists. Let’s devolve further by destroying the foundational building block of every human society since the dawn of man.
Personal experience teaches us that there is no perfect couple, no perfect marriage, no perfect family. It cannot be otherwise because none of us as an individual is fault-free. And yet, in pursuit of that impossible dream of perfection we continue to break what we do have.
The future of human civilization is starting to look awfully precarious.
