China’s Barbaric Population Control Must End!

Chen Guangcheng has been in the news frequently over the last couple of months, both prior to and since his release from China. He’s now living in New York where he plans to study law at New York University, but he remains very concerned for the safety of family members left behind.

What did Chen do to incur the wrath of the Chinese government? Take a stand against the coercive enforcement of their “One Child Policy.” As Women’s Rights Without Frontiers explains;

Blinded by a childhood illness, Chen taught himself law and at first advocated for the rights of the disabled. The Chinese Communist Party ignored him until he began to advocate for the rights of women who were victims of the massive, systematic use of forced abortion and sterilization in his city – Linyi. Chen bravely filed a class action lawsuit on (the women’s) behalf, and that’s when all hell broke loose for him and his family.

He was arrested in 2005 and for four years and three months, jailed, tortured and denied medical treatment.

Of course you’d be hard-pressed to discover this side of Chen’s story in any of the mainstream news sources. Their standard label for him is human rights activist. But what Chen really is, is an activist for the human right to reproduce. And if anyone needs such a champion, it’s the women of China.

For three decades now the Communist Party has been enforcing its brutal one-child law. Robert Zubrin at the Washington Times reviews the history of this atrocious policy, based on pseudo-science and rooted in despotism:

n June 1978, Song Jian, a top-level manager in charge of developing control systems for the Chinese guided-missile program, traveled to Helsinki for an international conference on control-system theory and design. While in Finland, he picked up copies of “The Limits to GrowthandBlueprint for Survival”- publications of the Club of Rome, a major source of Malthusian propaganda – and made the acquaintance of several Europeans who were promoting the report’s method of using computerized “systems analysis” to predict and design the human future.

Fascinated by the possibilities, Mr. Song returned to China and republished the Club’s analysis under his own name (without attribution), establishing his reputation for brilliant and original thinking. In no time at all, Mr. Song became a scientific superstar. Seizing the moment to grasp for greater power and importance, he pulled together an elite group of mathematicians from within his department and, with the help of a powerful computer to provide the necessary special effects, issued the profoundly calculated judgment that China’s “correct” population size was 650 million to 700 million people – which is to say, some 280 million to 330 million less than its actual 1978 population.

Mr. Song’s analysis quickly found favor at top levels of the Chinese Communist Party because it purported to prove that the reason for China’s continued poverty was not 30 years of disastrous misrule, but the very existence of the Chinese people. Paramount leader Deng Xiaoping and his fellows in the Central Committee were very impressed by the pseudo-scientific computer babble Mr. Song used to dress up his theory and even more impressed by the possibilities that arrogating the power to permit or deny children would provide to the state.

Thus began the most forceful population-control program since Nazi Germany. Qian Xinzhong, a Soviet-trained former major general in the People’s Liberation Army, was placed in charge of the campaign. He ordered all women with one child to have a stainless steel IUD inserted and to be inspected regularly to make sure they had not tampered with it. To remove the device was deemed a criminal act. All parents with two or more children were to be sterilized. No pregnancies were legal for anyone under 23, whether married or not, and all unauthorized pregnancies were to be aborted.

This horrific policy, as Women’s Rights Without Frontiers reports:

(Affects) 1.3 billion people… (and) causes more violence against women and girls than any other official policy on earth and any other official policy in the history of the world ~

1. Forced abortion is traumatic to women. This can happen up to the ninth month of pregnancy. Some forced abortions are so violent that the women themselves die, along with their full term babies.

2. Women who have violated the policy are often victims of forced sterilization, which can lead to life-long health complications. These forced abortions and forced sterilizations are often performed without anesthesia.

3. A document leaked out of China in November 2009 discusses methods of infanticide, including the puncturing of the skulls and injecting alcohol into the brains of full term babies, usually girls, to kill them during labor. [the death toll now exceeds more than 100 million girls]

4. Because of the traditional preference for boys, sex-selective abortion of girls is common — a form of “gendercide.”

5. Because of this gendercide, there are an estimated 37 million more men than women in China today. This gender imbalance is a major force driving sexual slavery of women and girls in Asia.

6. China has the highest female suicide rate of any country in the world – approximately 500 women a day. It’s very likely that this high suicide rate is related to forced abortion.

Because this ongoing tragedy is largely ignored by the MSM, most Americans aren’t even aware that this brutal “One Child Policy” is still being enforced in many parts of China. Yet LifeNews.com just reported this story today: Chinese Woman Seven Months Pregnant Beaten, Forcibly Aborted (WARNING – graphic image).

Unbelievable! We need to support organizations like Women’s Rights Without Frontiers and ChinaAid (an international non-profit Christian human rights organization committed to promoting religious freedom and the rule of law in China) in their efforts to raise awareness and help end this barbaric policy.

I was so caught up in the horrors of this story I almost forgot to mention this recent related nightmare: South Korean Customs Officials Intercept 17,000 Pills Filled With Powdered Baby Flesh From China. The Blaze has the outrageous story ~

Since last August, customs officials in South Korea say they have intercepted between 17,000 and 17,500 pills filled with finely-ground human baby flesh, which is said to be both a stamina-enhancer and medical panacea in parts of Asia…

Even more horrifying, if possible, some are reporting that it may not have only been aborted or stillborn babies used in the pills– it‘s possible that some were born and left to die in China’s “dying rooms” before being ground for the capsules, because they were born into families that already had one child.

Reports say the South Koreans are unwilling to press the issue for fear of creating a diplomatic rift with China, instead preferring to let Chinese officials investigate and take any necessary action. 😯

Yeah, that’s gonna happen!
