Saturday Shorts (Sunday version) 12-17-11

Swamped with holiday party preps, I just wasn’t able to squeeze in my regular Saturday post, so it’s actually “Sunday” Shorts this week…

~~~~~~~~
Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:
Shunning Facebook, and Living to Tell About It ~ Time-wasting, superficial, pointless distractions… what’s not to love? Good to see that not all twenty-somethings are obsessed with Facebook.
Port Whine: Big Labor’s Occu-punks ~ Michelle Malkin highlights the destructive union thuggery behind the West Coast Port Shutdown:
In reality, it’s the young Occupiers who are being exploited as human shields for the economy-strangling agenda of the violence-prone International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU).
And speaking of “human shields,” here’s Oregon’s 2011 Mother-of-the-Year award recipient: Occupy Portland Mother Places 4-Year-Old Daughter on Train Tracks During Protest to Shut Down Port ~ These people are so tragically misguided.
Virginia agencies can ban adoptions by gays ~ Good news. At least until the anti-family folks push back.
Iowa conservative Christian leaders hit the road in Iowa for Bachmann – not Gingrich ~ “We have determined that Michele Bachmann is Biblically-qualified to be the president, to be a leader. She is capable. She is trustworthy. She fears God and she hates dishonest gain.”
Praise God, there are some capital “C” Christians in Iowa.
A much better Christmas greeting than we can expect from the White House:
And a “Happy Hanukkah” to you Mr. Prime Minister!
