National Day of Prayer – September 3, 2017

‘God Is Our Refuge and Strength’: President Trump Declares Sunday ‘A National Day of Prayer’ ~

I call on all Americans and houses of worship throughout the Nation to join in one voice of prayer, as we seek to uplift one another and assist those suffering from the consequences of this terrible storm.

Governor Greg Abbott had also issued a proclamation, on Thursday, calling for an official day of prayer for Texans “of all faiths and religious traditions and backgrounds.”

Father in heaven, thank you for your many blessings on our land. You are our Ordainer, Creator, and Sustainer – all of life is held up by Your right hand. You are our refuge and our strength, a very present help in times of trouble.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey and the ongoing flooding in Texas and other Gulf states we ask that you comfort the victims, survivors, those who have lost everything. We are grateful for so many selfless volunteers who stepped up to lend their support. Please keep everyone safe and heartened as they begin the long, slow journey to recovery.

We pray for our nation in the midst of our current ideological polarization. As only You can, please turn this natural disaster into a blessing for America. Heal our land, help us realize we have far more in common with one another than we have differences. Change hard hearts and bless our nation with trusting faith.

In Jesus’ name we pray,
Amen
