Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Don’t pop the champagne yet over Trump’s SCOTUS immigration win ~ Daniel Horowitz at Conservative Review explains how Monday’s SCOTUS ruling wasn’t exactly a decisive victory ~

(T)he relief granted by the Supreme Court is limited, and the ACLU will continue to rack up victories in the lower courts until the Supreme Court hears the case in October […]

The Supreme Court did enough good to prove why the courts must be stripped of their power over immigration but not enough good to rely on the high court for relief in the long run. Time for the elected branches to take back what is rightfully theirs.

Shocking video of ‘Gay Pride’ parade: Little girl watches nearly-nude man dance ~ It’s OK for parents to expose an innocent little child to this type of perversion, but it’s child abuse in Ontario if you won’t allow your kid to change their sex? How much more disgusting can our culture get?

Who’s Killing Charlie Gard? And Why Won’t the Vatican Help Him? ~ The answer to the first question is Britain’s inhumane National Healthcare System (NHS). The answer to the second question only leads to more questions… What happens when a pro-life bastion goes wobbly? ~

Socialism kills. Even when it doesn’t need to. Because it wants to.

Study: Seattle’s $13 Minimum Wage Led To Drop Of $1,500 In Income For Low-Wage Earners ~ When reality collides with utopian fantasies…

Seattle actually ended up embracing $13 per hour, raising the minimum wage from $9.47 in 2014 to $11 in 2015 to $13 in 2016 under the theory that an increase wouldn’t throw people out of work, wouldn’t encourage part-time hiring, and would inflate salaries enough to allow more affordability in the Seattle housing market […]

(R)estaurants didn’t fire anybody, they just put them on part-time shifts and cut back their hours. That shouldn’t be a surprise, since that’s precisely what happens every time the government places an extra burden on employers. One of the great myths of minimum wage movement — and the central planning movement as a whole — is that business owners aren’t operating at a slim margin, but raking in dollars to hide in their Scrooge McDuck moneybins, depleting the potential income of their employees. But that’s not true. Thanks to competition — and competition is fierce in industries that employ minimum wage workers — profit margins are never enormous.

Susan Rice suggests race, gender bias linked to ‘unmasking’ backlash ~ Rice gets to play the race and the gender cards. How convenient. It’s almost like someone factored in demographics when she first got the job…

And on the “Trans” Front ~

Plans, Trans and Auto-Repeals: Pentagon Must Roll Back Obama’s Radical Military Agenda ~ Trans-insanity ~

(O)ver the next ten years America would be spending roughly half of our annual ballistic defense budget on elective sexual reassignment surgery! While our troops are scavenging museums for jet parts, which would you rather pay for: hundreds of gender transitions or 22 F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Planes? Obama’s extreme transgender agenda or 3,700 tomahawk missiles? Political correctness run amok or half of our annual cyber defense budget? I’m sure ISIS will sleep better at night knowing that we sacrificed 116 Chinook helicopters so that our troops could get radical makeovers.

They even get their own monument. Yippee.

A Winning Design for a New York Monument to Gay and Transgender People ~ Our new inverted priorities. Robert E. Lee? Gotta go. Sodomites? Celebrate perversion.

Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Asra Nomani accuse (four female) Dem senators of ignoring them in hearing ~ What a surprise. Leftists never want to learn the Truth. It intrudes on their delusions and interferes with their progressive goals ~

“This wasn’t a case of benign neglect,” Ali and Nomani wrote, in a New York Times op-ed published Thursday. “What happened that day was emblematic of a deeply troubling trend among progressives when it comes to confronting the brutal reality of Islamist extremism and what it means for women” in Muslim communities.

NY Eighth Graders Failing Common Core Math Tests Tripled Since Testing Began ~ Common Core math seems deliberately invented to totally frustrate kids – no common sense. (Remember this this feisty centenarian?) ~

The number of students who failed eighth grade math exams went from 14,000 in 2012 to 44,483 most recently.

State of ‘Collapse’: Italy Overwhelmed as 13,500 African Migrants Arrive in Past Two Days ~ Appears that Europe’s suicide mission just can’t be stopped ~

On Tuesday, 8,500 African migrants are reaching Italian shores aboard 14 different ships, adding to the 5,000 who arrived on Monday. The massive arrivals have led local media as well as politicians to speak of an authentic immigrant “invasion” exceeding the country’s capacity of assimilation.

Officials reported on June 15 that more than 65,000 migrants had arrived since the beginning of the year, but that was prior to the latest influx. Figures for the year now stand at 73,380 migrants into Italy, or a rise of 14.42 percent over the same period in 2016, when then-record arrivals had reached 64,133.
The exodus from Libya to the Italian coast has continuing unabated with no visible action on the part of the Italian government or the European Union to halt it.

We’re not far behind ~ U.S.-Australia Refugee Resettlement Deal Is Underway: Did Trump conclude it wasn’t such a “dumb deal” after all? ~

Why resettle Australia’s unwanted refugees in the United States? They are, for the most part, nationals from countries from which the Trump administration is trying to ban travel. Most also suffer from serious mental health issues, are not keen on coming to the United States to begin with (Australia was and still is their preferred destination), and are likely to have nothing but disdain for President Trump.

‘Obamaphone’ program stashes $9 billion in private bank accounts ~ Ah yes, those “free” Obamaphones. A GAO report, requested by Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO), says the program is rife with fraud. Shocking isn’t it? ~

“A complete lack of oversight is causing this program to fail the American taxpayer — everything that could go wrong is going wrong,” said Mrs. McCaskill, ranking Democrat on the Senate’s chief oversight committee and who is a former state auditor in Missouri.

“We’re currently letting phone companies cash a government check every month with little more than the honor system to hold them accountable, and that simply can’t continue,” she said.
