The Johnson Amendment (named for then Sen. Lyndon B. Johnson) passed by progressives in 1954, made it illegal for religious groups and charitable groups to engage in political campaigning if they want to keep their tax-exempt status. At the National Prayer Breakfast last week Donald Trump promised to repeal the legislation.
Whether the president follows through or not is beside the point because – as Dr. Brown explains – what’s really needed in our houses of worship is the courage to tell the truth ~
