Sen. Cruz’ support for Israel not exactly mutual…

OK, I may be biased because Ted Cruz has had my vote since he first announced, but from what I’ve seen of the likely candidates, he’s clearly the most supportive of the state of Israel ~

“You need to understand that the American people and the American Congress stand beside Israel,” Cruz told the Israeli newspaper (Israel Hayom). “I’m very sorry the current administration in Washington is exhibiting unprecedented antagonism toward Israel, and by doing so is harming the relationship and even jeopardizing the security of Israel and the national security of the United States.”
~ Ted Cruz, March 2015 (shortly after announcing his candidacy)

And yet Douglas Bloomfield, penning a recent opinion piece in the Jerusalem Post, is clearly unimpressed ~

Cruz ’n Jews ~
For most Jews, the junior senator from Texas’ hardline anti-abortion, anti-immigration, anti-gay marriage and anti-Muslim views are repellent.

Gadzooks!

First of all just to state Cruz’s positions truthfully, he’s pro-life, anti-terrorism, pro-traditional (God-ordained) marriage and anti-radical Islam. And it’s troubling to imagine that “most Jews” are put off by those views. They must find the Tanakh (Old Testament) really repellent.

Continuing – Bloomfield’s on a roll…

Cruz has suggested that if elected his interpretation of the Bible would take precedence over the Constitution or anything the Supreme Court says.

[Is Bloomfield being deliberately deceptive – or is he just this ignorant?]

This assertion is just a flat-out lie made up out of whole cloth. Senator Cruz knows more about the Constitution than any other candidate running. He wants to restore our Constitutional Republic – not turn America into a theocracy.

And apparently this position…

Cruz has little interest in the Israeli- Palestinian conflict and, unlike recent presidents, would not try to revive peace negotiations unless requested by Israel.

He shares Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s position that “unless and until the Palestinians can agree” to recognize Israel as the Jewish state and renounce terrorism “no lasting peace solution is likely,” Cruz said. Settlements, he adds, are an Israeli matter and none of the Americans’ business.

He refused to endorse the two-state solution when asked about it in an appearance before the Evangelical Christians United for Israel. “I don’t think it is the role of the United States, or any other foreign nation, to try to impose a specific solution on the dispute between Israel and the Palestinians.”

…doesn’t sit well with most Israelis?! Are you kidding me? Not to be indelicate, but after the Holocaust, self-preservation isn’t a priority with these people?

The rest of Bloomfield’s spiel is just more misrepresentation of Cruz’s character and his positions; he’s “strident,” “hardline” and of course Islamophobic. His mission is apparently to become the most conservative president in history. (Who knew?)

Bloomfield criticizes Cruz as anti-everything, but what I want to know is how did Israelis like him become so anti-God? Sounds like another chapter out of the Old Testament all over again.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The history of the Jewish people throughout scripture is replete with episodes of disobedience, defiance and unbelief. And every time God – through His prophets – would warn them to change their ways, or face His wrath.
Remember when Moses was on the mountain receiving the Ten Commandments and the Israelites below had become impatient, obstinate and rebellious? God registered His displeasure through the “lawgiver” ~
Furthermore, the Lord spoke to me saying, “I have seen this people, and indeed they are a stiff-necked people, Let Me alone, that I may destroy them and blot their name from under heaven; ~ Deuteronomy 9:13-14
Likewise, when the Lord sent you from Kadesh Barnea, saying, “Go up and possess the land which I have given you,” then you rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and you did not believe Him nor obey His voice. You have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.~ Deuteronomy 9:23-24
Periods of unbelief and disobedience occurred with almost predictable frequency throughout biblical history. Every few generations, God would have to take drastic action – usually through a sound trouncing from Israel’s enemies – to wake them up again.
Is it any wonder the good Lord was regularly frustrated with His chosen people?!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Israelis like those whom Bloomfield represents are every bit as “stiff-necked” as many of their ancestors. It’s just so difficult to fathom that they still don’t understand God is still God – after all these centuries.

They’re still His chosen people. And His Law is still The Law.
