Climate alarmism is not good stewardship

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them,
Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:
and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,
and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.”

~ Genesis 1:28

You’ll notice that when God gave us those instructions, He didn’t mention anything about limiting carbon dioxide production. In fact, attempting to control every exhale of every human on the planet is hardly going to “replenish the earth.” Especially since the carbon dioxide that we breathe out – is exactly the substance that plant life needs to exist! Of course if one’s warped worldview prioritizes say, the delta smelt*, over one’s fellow human beings, that inconvenient fact gets conveniently ignored.

The truth is, restricting the use of traditional energy sources in the name of saving the planet not only won’t save the planet, it will adversely affect the poor in developing nations, denying them the very ability to develop.

Climate policies demanding reduced use of fossil fuels, our best source for the abundant, affordable, reliable energy indispensable to rising and staying out of poverty, will increase poverty in developed countries and prolong it in developing ones. And the negative effects of poverty on individual and family life are clear.

And God’s priorities are clear. Human beings – created in His image – come first ~

As I wrote last year, Paul Driessen reveals the dark side of the ideological environmental movement in his book “Eco-Imperialism: Green Power Black Death”

The movement imposes the views of mostly wealthy, comfortable Americans and Europeans on mostly poor, desperate Africans, Asians and Latin Americans. It violates these people’s most basic human rights, denying them economic opportunities, the chance for better lives, the right to rid their countries of diseases that were vanquished long ago in Europe and the United States.

True, responsible stewardship of the earth prioritizes the welfare of human beings – because humans are God’s first priority.

* To save the endangered delta smelt, California flushed billions of gallons of water into the Pacific ocean; enough water to provide a year’s supply for 800,000 families. Despite those efforts – which also severely impacted agriculture in the San Joaquin Valley – the current drought has pushed the minnow to almost certain extinction anyway.
