Healing our patriots – in His name

While our federal government has been doing next-to-nothing to assist our military veterans adjust to life after combat, one Christian group has been quietly helping them heal ~

Since 2012, Operation Heal Our Patriots, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, has been providing Bible-based marriage enrichment training in Alaska to military couples dealing with post-9/11 combat injuries. One hundred and sixty couples—10 each week for 16 weeks—are scheduled to travel to our wilderness lodge between May 31 and September 18 this year. By the end of the summer season, the program will have served a total of well more than 500 couples in the past four years.

Big government is not only frustratingly impersonal, its attempts at “helping” are typically inefficient and ineffective. Faith-based organizations like Samaritan’s Purse are not only better able to provide for physical needs but, more importantly, they help heal wounded spirits and restore broken relationships; in Jesus’ name.

The Spirit Moves through the Camp ~

Last week was an amazing week in Port Alsworth, Alaska, as eight military couples rededicated their marriages to God and each other, and 16 of the 20 participants were baptized in Lake Clark. Of the 16 baptized, about half were saved earlier in the week and the other half rededicated their lives to Christ.

“The Spirit of the Lord moved in hearts this week in a mighty way!” Chaplain Steven Keith said.
