Last night Senate Democrats spent 14+ hours bloviating about “the world’s most fearsome weapon of mass destruction” – according to John Kerry that is – in a “Climate Talkathon.” Primarily a response to a $100 million pledge from San Francisco billionaire Tom Steyer, tied to making global warming a key issue in the mid-term elections, the hot air fest was purely political. Which is why, as Wyoming Senator John Barrasso(R) noted, the most vulnerable Dems chose not to attend (Mark Begich-AK, Kay Hagan-NC, Mary Landrieu-LA and Mark Pryor AR).
As usual when progressives sponsor an event, the blab-a-thon was heavy on emotional appeal, light on substance (by claiming the science is “settled” they get to avoid facts entirely). Agit-prop included the frequent use of terms like “not debatable,” “irrefutable,” and “undeniable.”

Coincidentally, while Harry Reid was droning on about a crisis, a question of our own survival and the need to act before it’s too late… I and several of my fellow patriots (at a Lakes Area Tea Party meeting in SE Michigan) were getting the actual facts about climate change from Steve Goreham, author of Climatism! Science, Common Sense and the 21st Century’s Hottest Topic and The Mad, Mad, Mad World of Climatism.
Here’s just some of data that climatists prefer to ignore ~
• Earth’s climate has warmed and cooled regularly throughout human history
• Nature emits 25 times as much CO2 as humans
• No trends have been observed between hurricanes/tropical storms and warming/cooling temperatures
• In 2008 31,000 scientists – including 9000 PhDs – signed a statement agreeing that there is no convincing scientific evidence for man-made global warming.
“Settled science” indeed!
Yet, low-information people will easily fall prey to the alarmists like Sen. Richard Blumenthal (CT): “If we fail to act, our planet will be destroyed.” 😯
