Typhoon Haiyan Relief

Living in the middle of the Great Lakes State, hundreds of miles from the nearest ocean, it’s almost impossible to imagine winds reaching over 200 miles an hour, not to mention a storm larger than the entire state of Michigan – including the lakes…

Haiyan was classified as a Category 5 typhoon and is one of the most powerful storms ever to hit land. For a time, storm clouds covered the entire Philippines, stretching 1,120 miles—the distance between Florida and Canada—and tropical storm-force winds covered an area the size of Germany.
 
It forced more than 750,000 from their homes as it lashed Leyte and Samar with strong winds and 15-19-foot waves. The fast-moving storm quickly moved across the central Philippines, leaving widespread devastation in its wake.

The O’Ministration has generously committed $20 million of your tax dollars to Haiyan relief efforts. Most of which – as is typical with bloated bureaucracies – will somehow never arrive at where it’s needed the most.
These three organizations have a much better record of actually getting aid to where it can do the maximum amount of good ~

Unfortunately, in some cases relief efforts are being thwarted by the New People’s Army (NPA -the military arm of the Communist Party of the Philippines) ~ Threat of rebel attacks stalls mass burials in devastated Philippines region.
