Syria in Biblical Prophecy

A couple weeks ago Neil Cavuto had an interesting segment on his show concerning end-times prophecy and current events in Syria. He spoke with Joel Rosenberg who is the author of numerous fiction & non-fiction books focused primarily on the Middle East, most recently “Damascus Countdown” ~

Before blowing off biblical prophecy as irrelevant or mythical, understand that guys like Daniel, Isaiah, Jeremiah and the rest of those Old Testament dudes, wouldn’t have survived to prophesy about end-times had their contemporary predictions not been realized. The Lord Himself told His people how to authenticate a prophet; and how to deal with a phony ~

“But the prophet, who presumes to speak a word in My name,
which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in
the name of other gods, that prophet shall die. And if you say
in your heart, “How shall we know the word which the LORD hath
not spoken?” – when a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD,
if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing
which the LORD has not spoken, the prophet hath spoken it
presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him.”

~ Deuteronomy 18:20-23 ~

Syria’s president, Bashar Assad, being a (Shia) Muslim, is probably not too concerned with biblical prophecy. But his coincidental sabre-rattling seems a bit ominous: Assad: We could blind Israel in an instant ~

“… the situation in Syria “has never been better,” as “we created chemical weapons in the ’80s as a deterrent against Israel’s nuclear arsenal. Today, it is no longer a weapon of deterrence.

We have weapons that are more important and more sophisticated to challenge Israel, which we can blind in an instant.”

Whatever else happens in Syria in the days and months ahead, it certainly looks like the “end-times” are closing in on Christians in that country:
