On this date in 1776 the Liberty Bell was rung for the very first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.
Inscribed on the bell is this passage from scripture ~
“Proclaim LIBERTY throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof.”
~ Leviticus 25:10 ~
Permanently ensconced in Independence Hall, Philadelphia…
The old bell now is silent,
And hushed its iron tongue,
But the spirit it awakened
Still lives – forever young.
