After the Storm

Aftermath of Hurricane Sandy – All that’s left of a Catholic church in Breezy Pt.,
Queens, NY where more than 100 homes were destroyed by fire.*

Although the Left and the hapless sheeple (and possibly NJ’s governor, Chris Christie) still believe that Barack Obama can heal the land and save the planet…
the rest of us know that relief, clean-up and restoration in the wake of Hurricane Sandy are going to require faith in God, and the efforts of millions of Americans.

We can all help – with prayers – and by donating to one of these front-line organizations:

Samaritan’s Purse
Salvation Army
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team
Catholic Charities

O Lord,
You are a shelter from the storm.
Your view is a higher view.
You ride on the wings of the wind,
and Your love for us is deeper than
the ocean’s depths.

Be with all Your children through
this long night of raging…
through days of unknowing…
through changes unbidden…
through it all.

Heal our land.
Amen.

*At the request of the photographer, Natalie Keyssar, I’ve replaced the
picture
I originally published in this post. A fervent Obama supporter,
Ms. Keyssar wasn’t happy with my usage of her work (although that
particular shot has been posted all over the blogosphere.)

What I see in that particular view is divine providence. And a reminder
that what really matters are not the transient things of our earthly existence.
Yet – there are none so blind as those who will not see…
even when they capture it on film.
