By now you’d have to be in a coma not to be aware of breast cancer. But how many of us are aware of the life-extending drug Avastin – taken by thousands of women with metastatic breast cancer – just to stay alive? And how many are aware that the FDA has decided that from now on access to this drug should only be extended to those who can pay for it?

From “Protesting for Life” at Breitbart’s BigGovernment:

There are thousands of women who rely on the drug for their survival. Without it, they will die…
If their proposal to “de-label” Avastin becomes reality, Medicare and private insurance companies will no longer have to cover the cost of the drug. In the eyes of ObamaCare proponents – society wins.

And women on Avastin, and their families, lose. Fortunately they have an advocate in Terry Kalley, a small businessman from Michigan who has put his life on hold to fight “the man.” In this case, “the man” is the bureaucrats at the FDA who are on a mission to cut health care costs.
Kalley’s organization, Freedom of Access to Medicines plans to hold a peaceful protest outside the FDA hearings on Avastin on June 28th, 2011.
