Preventing the next Brussels

islamprotest-london-smlrNews flash: The Washington D.C. oligarchy and their European counterparts aren’t going to stop the next Brussels. On the contrary, Europe’s leaders have actually enabled the creation of Eurabia – the wishes of their native populations be damned.

On the day of the Islamist terror attacks last week M.G. Oprea at the Federalist was asking the same question so many others had ~

How is it that in a prosperous European country there can be enough support within the Muslim community for a man who had pledged his allegiance to ISIS, has already successfully completed one terrorist attack and is planning others, to be protected and aided?

The answer is that this is a problem of Europe’s own creating—and it’s not going away. Beginning in the post-World War II era, Europe was in need of workers to pad its depleted work force. A natural place to look was North Africa, in former colonies of Spain and France. While it was assumed that migration would be short-term, the reality is that the men who came to work stayed, and later brought over their families. Europe made no plan for how to house and assimilate these families […]

More to the point, Europe was uncomfortable asking its Muslim communities to assimilate. European leaders felt that would be too reminiscent of the colonial era. Their guilt and newfound “enlightenment” guided them to leave these people to their communities, culture, and religion.

They created a monster – but they have no intention of destroying it. Just look at the mass immigration invasion that Europe’s leaders actually encouraged last year.

While it’s difficult to fully envision their end game, by allowing this terrorism to continue, the ruling class seems to be almost deliberately engineering social unrest, which will precipitate the need for ever more state control and power.

Since all we get from our respective governments after terrorist attacks like Brussels’ are more accusations of “Islamaphobia,” it’s up to we-the-thinking (as Thayrone says) to help educate our fellow citizens. Forward the following video from David Wood to everyone in your sphere of influence who could use some Islam-awareness.

To paraphrase an old public service announcement from ages ago (promoting seatbelt usage?), the life you save may be your own…

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

WISHING YOU A BLESSED EASTER!

Viernes Santo: Just another Friday in “Castrogonia” ~ Carlos Eire at Babalú Blog compares the the “insanity of the cross” with the “Marxist utopia” of Cuba. Replacing Christianity with communism results in misery and despair for all… except the elites of course.

Wherein I Comment On “Electoral Politics” – It’s Professional Wrestling Without the Wrestling ~ I’ve been thinking that a yuuuge chunk Trump’s supporters are WWF fans. Ann Barnhardt takes it a big step further and asserts that the entire political scene has turned into a professional wrestling production ~

You all need to understand that the Professional Wrestling model that I just described is precisely what this Presidential campaign crap is. Why don’t I comment on it? Because it is fake, scripted and choreographed. I’d sooner write commentary and analysis on Professional Wrestling. …

Trump and Clinton are almost certainly in cahoots and wrote this script long ago, I suspect. Trump is going to make a cool couple of billion off of this, and probably doesn’t want anything to do with playing the role of “POTUS” […]

And, for those of you who actually believe that Trump is going to actually build a wall across the border, or do ANYTHING that he is talking about, I just don’t know what to say. The guy is a total hack who has used Bankruptcy as a tool, and would have made more money if he had taken his nine-figure inheritance and plowed it into an S&P Index fund and never touched it. He is a showman and a carney.

(BTW, she doesn’t go any easier on Cruz)
Although definitely over the top, it’s a pretty good rant 🙂

[Hat-tip: Bobo]

Former Pro-Trump Operative Disavows GOP Frontrunner ~ And this was before the Cruz National Enquirer kerfuffle ~

(Stephanie Cegielski, former spokeswoman for the pro-Trump Make America Great Again PAC) said she initially saw Trump as a positive political force, but that his statements and policy positions, or lack thereof, convinced her that he is unfit to be commander in chief.

“I am glad he has brought more people to the political process but I question his ability to be the leader of this country,” she said.[…]

Asked whether any of Trump’s specific statements or policy positions pushed her over the edge, Cegielski suggested that her concerns were more broad. “As a communications person I am a strong advocate for sticking to your message,” she said. “The problem with his message is that it is all about his poll numbers, the losers of the world and his ability to do everything great.”

The Mind of the Left From an Insider; What I witnessed inside a faith of lies — and what it took to leave ~ Enlightening – and a rather unsettling look at red-diaper Leftism.

Lifestyles of the rich and elected; State pols live high with campaign funds ~ Bruce Rushton examines the spendthrift ways of Illinois politicians (Guess the party affiliation…). Playing games with campaign dollars ~

“The issue is, when spending starts to get into something that is either a perk, allowing you to live a better lifestyle than you would have been able to live otherwise, or something that could clearly be perceived as a perk, the question becomes, is your loyalty to your contributors or to your constituents?”

An entitled ruling class livin’ high on the hog; behavior that’s certainly not exclusive to the Land of Lincoln, or Democrats for that matter.

“Madonna’s on-stage sexual abuse of minor girl exposes our culture’s ills” ~ You were hoping as Madonna aged she’d clean up her act a bit? Nope. She gets raunchier with each passing year ~

During a concert in Australia, Madonna pulled down a 17-year-old girl’s top, revealing her breast to a crowd of thousands – and the girl and her mother promptly thanked the singer. That one moment best illustrates everything that’s wrong with modern pop culture, a leading pro-life advocate tells LifeSiteNews.

Krauthammer: Obama Is On An ‘Ideological Holiday Trip In Cuba While The World Burns’ ~ Charles Krauthammer spoke with Bret Baier on Fox Tuesday evening after the Brussels bombings ~

“Obama gave the terror bombing 51 seconds of his speech today in Havana. I thought the whole story of his presidency and its foreign policy was seen in the split screen. On one side you had the video footage of the attack in Belgium. This is the real world. And on the other side was Obama in a fantasy world he inhabits where Cuba is of some geopolitical significance in his mind but none in the real world.”

The Decline of the West ~ As our worldviews have devolved, so have our societies. Bad philosophies might sound great initially, but they do so much damage; rendering their adherents loveless, hopeless, meaningless ~

Post-modern man is authentic when he is true to himself, not to reality. To live authentically means living in accord with what you feel/believe, whether or not what you feel/believe is true by any objective standard. Everyone is entitled to his own truth, even when everyone’s truth can’t possibly be true. When contradictory truths collide, as they must, the outcome is determined by power, not by reason. Truth is not discovered; it is imposed. By his willingness to ignore reality post-modern man shows himself to be foolish … and dangerous.

Michelle’s misguided crusade

ObamaTangosWho knows? Maybe she was in a tizz over Barack’s tango with a Playboy model

(Actually, I don’t know if her speech was before or after the dance exhibition, but oh, the irony -) In Argentina this week, Michelle Obama was whining about being whistled at in her younger days. Seriously ~

(Lamenting) the oppressive sexism she’s faced in the United States (and so her limp-wristed husband could dance the Tango), because men found her attractive […]

Mrs. Obama went full-on down-with-The-Patriarchy as she complained that men would comment, or even “whistle” at her due to her appealing looks. The First Lady dramatically spiraled: “[A]s if my body were their property, as if I were an object to be commented on instead of a full human being with thoughts and feelings of my own.”

Yes folks, it was a tough existence for young Michelle ~

michelleO-Argentina
“As a girl my voice was somehow less important, that how my body looked was more important than how my mind worked; that being strong and powerful, and outspoken just wasn’t appropriate or attractive for a girl. And soon enough, I started to question myself: Was I too loud? Too much? Was I too bossy? Was I dreaming too big? And for years I would lie awake at night and those doubts would eat away at my heart…

(Ha! She clearly didn’t listen to those questions for long did she? Loud? Bossy?)

Wah-wah-wah.

In the meantime, in a much-less coddled corner of the world, where real sexism is a harsh, daily reality for most women… Horrific pictures show young Indonesian woman sobbing as she is caned in public for having adultery ~

Young woman faced a public caning punishment for breaking strict Sharia law in Banda Aceh province in Indonesia […]

A public caning is just one of the punishments handed out to people breaking Sharia law in Banda Aceh, the only province in Indonesia, where it is still followed closely.

[Note – Relieved that the pictures were less lurid than I expected. Probably the Daily Mail felt they should be published because they want their readers to see the true face of Sharia law. Mission accomplished.)

I don’t believe Mrs. Obama was available for comment on this barbaric example of Islam’s contemptuous treatment of women. Instead, sniveling about “sexism,” Michelle is still living in the 60’s. Tragically, that poor Indonesian woman is stuck in the 7th century.

Persecuting Catholics; Obama and the Castros share a common pursuit

As you may have heard, while Brussels was trying to cope with the aftermath of Tuesday’s horrific terrorist attacks, Barack Obama and fellow Marxist Raul Castro were having a high old time at the ball park… Woo-Hoo! ~

obama&raul

The two share more than a warped worldview and an affinity for front row baseball seats afforded by their privileged lifestyles. Neither of them are particularly tolerant of Christianity, the Catholic church in particular.

To begin with a little history; Raul is the younger brother of the infamous Fidel ~

Born in 1926 of wealthy Cuban Roman Catholic parents, the megalomaniacal (Fidel) Castro hated Spain, resented the United States and the fact that his father had come to Cuba as a “soldier of Spain,” even as he also resented the Catholic Church and frequently rebelled against its authority and that of the Jesuit priests who taught him from grade one through awarding him his University of Havana law degree in 1945.

Preferring insurrection, riot and rebellion to the rule of law and practice thereof, Castro, in 1947, undertook an unsuccessful effort to overthrow the Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo. In 1947, as an attendant at the Ninth Pan American Conference in Bogota, Colombia, in protest of American domination of Latin America, Castro’s fervent political activity fired the Bogota riots in which, at day’s end, he boasted: “I had a good day today – I killed a priest!”

Source: CubaNet

Che&Castros

Imprisoned for a couple years in the 50’s, upon their release the Castros teamed with fellow mass murderer Che Guevara and launched the Cuban Revolution. After Fidel rose to power, he turned his rage against the Catholic Church ~

August 1960, Castro-controlled mobs attack worshippers emerging from mass; all Catholic radio and TV programs are cancelled. April 1961, all Catholic publications are halted; churches are vandalized by Castro’s mobs; Cuban Cardinal Arteaga seeks political asylum in the Argentine Embassy.

June 1961, Castro expropriates all religious schools (about 350 Catholic), removing parents’ right to determine their children’s education – their only choice is Castro’s public schools where the children are discouraged to believe in God and are indoctrinated for a communist society where hatred for Castro’s enemies is highlighted.

September 1961, Castro expels Bishop Boza Masvidal along with 131 other Catholic clergy; by years end 3,400 priests and nuns are forced into exile. November 1965, Castro calls remaining priests and believers “social scum” sending many of them to the newly created UMAP concentration and labor camps in the province of Camagüey along with gays and others “unfit” for his communist revolution. By 1971 the population of Castro’s gulag was 100,000, while conservative estimates place the number of executed at 5,000.

Source: The Church and Cuba

RaulCastroAccording to Genocide Watch the estimates of Cubans killed between 1959 and 1987 range from 35,000 to 141,000.

Raul, who succeeded his brother Fidel as dictator, is often portrayed by the left-leaning media as a soft-hearted, pragmatic man. In truth, sources say, he has as much blood on his hands as his big brother.

Yet our esteemed leader is apparently thrilled to be sitting next to this communist thug.

obamas&raul
Which brings me to what appears to be Obama’s deliberate infringement of religious freedom for American Catholic nuns ~ Pepsi, Visa, and Chevron are Exempt From HHS Mandate, But Little Sisters of the Poor are Not.

For some devious reason the O’Ministration seems intent on denying these nuns their rights under the First Amendment to the free exercise of their religion ~

On Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard an appeal from the Little Sisters of the Poor and 37 other religious groups to stop the Obama administration from forcing them to comply with Obamacare’s abortion mandate. The mandate compels religious groups to pay for birth control, drugs that may cause abortions and sterilization. Without relief, the Little Sisters would face millions of dollars in IRS fines […]

Previously, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily protected the Little Sisters from the mandate. The Little Sisters then went before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver to extend that protection, but a panel of the appeals court ruled against them. Eventually the full appeals court ruled in the nuns’ favor, but the Obama administration appealed?!

Why??

LittleSistersprotestThis particular order of nuns cares for the elderly poor and basically begs for the funds to run their ministry ~

This is the second time the Sisters have been forced to ask the Supreme Court for protection from the government’s efforts to make them to provide contraceptives to their employees.

“The Little Sisters spend their lives taking care of the neediest members of our society —that is work our government should applaud, not punish,” said Mark Rienzi, Senior Counsel of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty. “The Little Sisters should not have to fight their own government to get an exemption it has already given to thousands of other employers, including big companies like Exxon and Pepsi Cola Bottling Company.”

Micaiah Bilger, writing at LifeNews.com, explains ~

These facts seem to point to a more underhanded motive than simply ensuring Americans have “essential health care” services. Some have speculated that the Obama administration’s real motives in the case are to chip away at religious liberty in the U.S.

Ya think?!

Unfortunately it’s true. Our lawless and amoral president wants to cruelly force these selfless women to violate their faith and their vows to God by making them pay for practices their believe are sinful. Are you kidding me?!

At least you can see now why he and the godless Raul Castro are such good buds eh?

Obama’s Inglorious Speech ~ Anticipating the historic visit from a U.S. president, the Cuban people were no doubt hoping for some encouraging words. Instead they only got the usual B.S. from B.O. ~

A classic example of Obamaspeak, this boilerplate speech consisted of four essential elements: some truths (few in number), several myths (plentiful), many platitudes (even more plentiful), and a string of lies (all braided with the myths and platitudes) […]
The Cuban people are as innovative as any people in the world,” said Obama, “we have a clear monument to what the Cuban people can build: it’s called Miami.” True enough, but only half true. What he could have said and should have said was this: “If the Castro brothers had not come along, all of Cuba would now be better than Miami.”
Ideology at work

And there’s the rub. The speech left out the nefarious presence of the Castro brothers in Cuban history, and the pain and suffering these criminals have have caused the Cuban people.

Brussels? Muslim terrorist target? Nah. (Up-dated)

Update 3-23-16:
Well, it had to happen – Brussels yanked their our-city-is-terrorist-free promo ad (Note – big gray rectangle below).

The Daily Caller described the now-unavailable video in yesterday’s article ~

VisitBrussels, the city’s tourism department, crafted the #CallBrussels campaign in an effort to disassociate the city with Islamic terror after residents were linked to the November, 2015, Paris attacks and other extremist plots.

As part of the campaign, VisitBrussels set up telephones across the city and invited people to call them in order to speak with Brussels passersby. It then used these calls to create a video touting Brussels as a peaceful, welcoming city.

CallBrussels
“After Brussels was linked to terror plots, the international media portrayed the city as a warzone,” the ad said. “We wanted to change this perception with an honest answer.”

The ad then shows interactions with (supposedly) random Belgians, who assure callers the city is completely safe.

After Tuesday’s bombings killed several dozen Brusseleirs, some people on Twitter quickly brought up the ad for ridicule.

Meanwhile, here’s a new video that popped up on YouTube late last night which skillfully contrasts the original ad with yesterday’s tragic bombings. A stark illustration of progressive utopian dreams vs. the harsh and ugly reality of Muslim extremists and their “Religion of Peace.”
Watch quickly before this one gets pulled too! ~

Original 3-22-16 post:
Oops.
Unfortunately, in the wake of the latest horrific terror attacks, Brussels’ tourism department may be regretting an advertisement they published two months ago ridiculing the idea the city was a center of Islamic radicalism ~

“How is life in Brussels today?” Don’t ask!

Quite clever actually. How very tragic that it didn’t match reality.

Bible Trumping

Among the hundreds of Donald Trump’s memorable declarations during his singular campaign over the last few months, I think this one’s the winner in the “most hilarious” category –

😯 How in the world does he get away with such outlandish assertions? I mean it’s just absurd on the face of it. I’ll wager that the Donald couldn’t even find “Two Corinthians” in the Bible. Even if we told him which testament they were in!

His braggadocio and annoying demeanor is not only off-putting, it stands in stark contrast to so many principled, admirable, honorable men who have served as our chief executive; all of whom I’m sure read the Bible much more than Mr. Trump. For one – I bet John Quincy Adams could find “Two Corinthians” in his sleep!

“No book in the world deserves to be so unceasingly studied,
and so profoundly meditated upon as the Bible.”

John Quincy Adams ~ in a letter to his son

JohnQAdams
Our 5th president, John Quincy Adams, was the son of our second president, John Adams. His Christian faith, like that of his father’s, in no small measure inspired his staunch abolitionist stand. John Quincy was the attorney who in 1841 successfully defended the Africans who had mutinied aboard the slave ship Amistad. He earned his nickname “The Hell-Hound of Slavery” for relentlessly speaking out against the institution ~

The notion that all human beings are born free and not slaves can be traced to Adams’ understanding of Scriptures and the “Law of Nature and Nature’s God.”

Source: “Character for Life; An American Heritage” ~ Don Hawkinson

And when it came to studying the Good Book itself, I doubt whether any other president trumped John Quincy ~

On Sept. 26, 1810, John Quincy Adams wrote in his diary: “I have made it a practice for several years to read the Bible through in the course of every year. I usually devote to this reading the first hour after I rise every morning. … I have this morning commenced it anew … this time with Ostervald’s French translation.” (He knew 5-6 foreign languages!)

In September of 1811, John Quincy Adams wrote to his son from St. Petersburg, Russia: “My dear Son. … You mentioned that you read to your aunt a chapter in the Bible or a section of Doddridge’s Annotations every evening. This information gave me real pleasure; for so great is my veneration for the Bible. … It is of all books in the world, that which contributes most to make men good, wise, and happy. … My custom is, to read four to five chapters every morning immediately after rising from my bed. … It is essential, my son … that you should form and adopt certain rules … of your own conduct. … It is in the Bible, you must learn them. … ‘Thou shalt love the Lord thy God, with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength, and thy neighbor as thy self.’ On these two commandments, Jesus Christ expressly says, ‘hang all the law and the prophets’.”

Source: WorldNetDaily

So while Trump’s brag was just another outrageous fiction birthed in fantasyland, John Quincy Adams was a true Bible scholar. Here’s some of his advice that the presidential wannabe would be wise to follow ~

“I speak as a man of the world to men of the world; and I say to you,
Search the Scriptures! The Bible is the book of all others … not to be
read once or twice or thrice through, and then laid aside, but to be
read in small portions of one or two chapters every day.”

5 Facts About Patrick, the Indiana Jones of Saints ~ Highlights from the legendary life of St. Patrick

Obama Uses Army To Attack “White Privilege” ~ Social engineering on steroids; destroying the military by manufacturing division and derision ~

The U.S. Army subjected 400 soldiers in Georgia to a “white privilege” indoctrination session last year, lecturing the troops on how our society supposedly systematically lavishes unearned benefits on those who are white, male, and heterosexual, a watchdog group reports […]

Who needs an enemy? Progressives are turning our troops against each other.

Socialism’s Bloody History Shows Millennials Should Think Twice Before Supporting It ~ A timely lesson from the past for those who have been woefully mis-educated. Share this one! ~

Socialism demands that we place blind trust in whoever takes the power to distribute society’s goods and services. History shows those who have this power abuse it in horrific ways.

Furthermore,

Once socialism is entrenched, it is tailor-made to separate human beings and stand in the way of intimacy. Indeed, its general premise is that the good of the collective trumps the good of the individual, which means it is actually invested in wreaking havoc on family relationships and loyalties.

What John Adams Knew; Our Government Was Designed to Protect Us from the Trumps of the World ~ Either party’s leading candidate of the moment will spell the eventual end of our Constitutional Republic ~

Our law is a law of property, commerce, trade, and individual rights. The democratic passion — which informs the campaign of Bernie Sanders as much as it does that of Donald Trump — rejects those things. It would see unpopular points of view quashed, First Amendment be damned, a project already well under way among Democrats seeking to criminalize dissenting views on global warming. The democratic passion demands the expropriation of Apple and Goldman Sachs, projects Trump considers with some glee. It demands a central-planning regime in place of the free flow of goods and capital, not because that’s good economics — it isn’t — but because such a regime would constitute an act of economic and political violence against Them.

The Secret to Ending Euthanasia: Valuing the Elderly ~ Each life has inherent worth – in God’s eyes ~

In a culture of life, no person is viewed as a burden, no matter how much care and attention they need. Senior citizens are some of the wisest members of our society, and they deserve to be treated with honor and respect. As elderly persons slow down in life, they are blessed with an opportunity to share their wisdom and teach the younger generations that every moment is a gift from a loving Creator and an opportunity to choose to love those around us.

A Vote For Trump Is A Vote Against American Consumers ~ We’re not going to #makeAmericagreatagain by listening to Trump on trade ~

Rather than arguing abstract truths, concentrate on the pain Americans will feel if Donald Trump gets his way.

How Gardens Cultivate American Independence ~ Just in time for spring, at the Federalist celebrates our gardening tradition; harvesting happy memories and cherished American values ~

Since the earliest days of America, our gardens have illustrated and refined our national character.

As raising children does on a much deeper scale, gardening and farming makes you daily responsible to someone or something outside of yourself. Tomatoes get eaten by rats and insects, crowded out by weeds. To thrive, they need care. In providing that care, we become the kind of people who give the gift of ourselves. That kind of person is different from the person who spends his time thinking about satisfying chiefly himself and his own desires. To make a garden produce what you need, you have to give it what it needs. It’s a reciprocal relationship on a more personal scale than merely visiting a grocery store.

That commitment to something other than one’s self pulls out of a person other virtues, such as a work ethic, and humility before this world that… recognizes it is imbued with great, untamable mysteries still.

Happy Birthday Madison

founders-quote-JMadison“The belief in a God All Powerful wise and good, is so essential to the moral order of the world and to the happiness of man, that arguments which enforce it cannot be drawn from too many sources nor adapted with too much solicitude to the different characters and capacities impressed with it.”

~ James Madison (letter to Frederick Beasley, Nov. 20, 1825)

Our fourth president, James Madison, was born on this date in 1751. Frequently cited at the Father of the Constitution, he had a tremendous impact on the drafting of that document ~

(Madison) spoke 161 times at the Constitutional Convention. He was a contributing author of 29 of the 85 Federalist Papers along with Alexander Hamilton and John Jay.

Source: “Character for Life; An American Heritage” ~ Don Hawkinson

A leading advocate of freedom of conscience, Madison helped to create the Bill of Rights and convince Congress to adopt it. He was highly esteemed by his peers, Jefferson in particular ~

founders-quote-TJefferson“The chief cause of his success… were his general soundness and moderation of his views in all public questions. He was candid, conscientious, just …and high-minded. I can say conscientiously that I do not know in the world a man of purer integrity, more dispassionate, (selfless) and devoted to genuine ‘Republicanism,’ nor in the whole scope of America and Europe [am I able to] point out an abler head. He is the greatest man in the world!” ~ Thomas Jefferson

[Wow, eh?]

As with a majority of the founding fathers, Madison’s Christian faith informed his positions on governments of men and how they should be established. And considering how much time he devoted to the country’s formation, earthly matters were not his first priority ~

“A watchful eye must be kept on ourselves lest while we are building ideal monuments of Renown and Bliss here we neglect to have our names enrolled in the Annals of Heaven.”

“If there is no virtue among us? If there be not, we are in a wretched situation, no form of government, can render us secure. To suppose that any form of government will secure liberty or happiness without any virtue in the people is a chimerical idea.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If only we had in Washington D.C. today, even a handful of brilliant, principled, selfless men like Madison and so many of the other founders, our Constitutional Republic would not be on the verge of collapse. Even so, I am ever grateful for the legacy they bequeathed to us.
