“Shared Sacrifice?”

From the UK Daily Mail ~ Expensive massages, top shelf vodka and five-star hotels: First Lady accused of spending $10m in public money on her vacations

White House sources today claimed that the First Lady has spent $10million of U.S. taxpayers’ money on vacations alone in the past year.
Branding her ‘disgusting’ and ‘a vacation junkie’, they say the 47-year-old mother-of-two has been indulging in five-star hotels, where she splashes out on expensive massages and alcohol.

Amazing. The first family just can’t get enough of livin large – while a record 45.8 million Americans are on foodstamps. If we had a Republican in the White House the MSM would be throwing fits over this “Let them eat cake” attitude.

Livin’ it up

It never crosses our mind

NobamaCare – Keeping up the push-back

As legislation to repeal ObamaCare works its way through the courts we still need to keep the pressure on; getting the truth out, and making sure our representatives know where we stand.
Here are a couple sites with resources to help stay informed and engaged:

Independent Women’s Voice ~ IWV is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting limited government, free markets, and personal responsibility. Their site has lots of facts about ObamaCare and the negative impact that it will have on our physical and economic health, as well as information on other important policy issues.

Part of our mission at Independent Women’s Voice is to empower American women and their families with the knowledge they need about Washington’s complex public policies. Weighing in at 3,000 pages, the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) is among the most complex, destructive laws in American history. It’s imperative that Americans continue to fight back against government-run health care by working toward full repeal of ObamaCare.

IWV has just posted several PDF files that you can download and share: Your ObamaCare August Recess Guide – The Knowledge You Need, The Questions to Ask

These informative files provide answers to questions like “How will ObamaCare add to the national debt?”, “How will ObamaCare change my Medicare?” and “How can I help repeal ObamaCare?”
Good stuff! Print-out and share with your representatives, friends and family.

Saving Our Healthcare ~ Another good site with facts, figures, ways to get involved and the full story on ObamaCare. They’ve also got repeal progress updates on both the state and federal levels.

Voight – A “National Treasure”

Jon Voight who starred in the National Treasure movies along with Nicholas Cage, is in Israel this week with Glenn Beck for Beck’s “Restoring Courage” week. He spoke at “Courage to Remember” event on Monday evening ~

Unlike the majority of today’s celebrities who are totally self-absorbed, superficial and easily swayed by the P.C. police, Jon Voight is a courageous class act.

A Plague of Perplexity

My exposure to the Leftwing blogosphere is purposely self-limited – usually just consisting of quotes or clips cited for reference on non-left sites. Firsthand visits typically require a steely resolve – and fire-proof clothing. The “heated” discussions have been known to make computer screens steam, and the language – well, let’s just say the f-bomb usage can get really creative.

But when I came across this headline at LifeSiteNews, I felt obligated to pull on my protective gear and pursue things a bit further:
Daily Kos writer: We could use ‘global superplague’ to stop overpopulation

Turns out the writer in question is Jon Stafford, and this particular post, titled “It Feels Bitter Here”, is mostly a rambling “Poor me – why doesn’t everyone here agree with me? I don’t’ care anyway, cause I’m smarter that everyone else – so forget you guys!”

Mixed up in all of that, his “plague” comment was just sort of tossed out in mid-rant:

“…There are too many goddam people already.” And while this is meant to be facetious, nevertheless there is a seed of truth in it, because I believe that the world is wildly overpopulated and that we must take steps as a society to reduce it. (“It”? the world?) This will undoubtedly be met with accusations of callousness, but we would could really use is a global superplague. The Black Death may have been horrible, but without it there would never have been a Renaissance. 🙄

Charming huh?
Later in the piece he feels compelled to state: “ I am an atheist.” Ya think?

Anyway, seeing that “global superplague” headline, I was prepared to get seriously upset while reading Stafford’s entire piece. I mean, first the Left thinks we need an alien invasion, and now – the Plague.

But instead, I actually found myself… feeling sorry for him. He seems to be floundering in a sea of progressive despair. He’s perplexed and angry with his fellow Lefties (they all seem to be angry at something – or everything – most of the time) because they don’t all agree with him. How could they possibly disagree since, as Stafford says, “I thought we came to our support of progressive beliefs after a rational examination of the facts” ?

The problem, Jon, is that your progressive belief system prevents you from rationally examining the facts. Because you explicitly exclude God from your world view you’ll never discover real Truth. Because you don’t believe in a Creator, you’ll never really understand the nature of created human beings, including your Kos comrades.

Stafford is an atheist, a socialist and I believe, a humanist. That is, since God doesn’t exist for him, Man is at the center of all things and the measure of all things. And since there isn’t a Creator, the final reality is impersonal matter or energy shaped into its present form by impersonal chance.
So any values or beliefs that a humanist subscribes to are essentially baseless.

This view of the world always leads to floundering, frustration and chaos – as Francis Schaeffer explains in “A Christian Manifesto”:

The humanists push for “freedom,” but having no Christian consensus to contain it, that “freedom” leads to chaos or to slavery under the state (or under an elite). Humanism, with its lack of any final base for values or law, always leads to chaos. It then naturally leads to some form of authoritarianism to control the chaos. Having produced the sickness, humanism gives more of the same medicine for a cure. With its mistaken concept of final reality, it has no intrinsic reason to be interested in the individual, the human being (“Plague” anyone??). Its natural interest is the two collectives: the state and society.

Rejecting God’s Truth, every human society, past or present eventually conforms to the pattern of downfall that Schaeffer describes.

And that is what makes me so sad for Stafford and his fellow atheist-progressive-humanists. Their perplexed view of the world and reality never leads to anywhere good. For them – or the rest of us.

Roiling Waters

Well so much for the new era of civility… Maybe Maxine just didn’t get the memo.

Yes, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) was in fine form last Saturday at a forum in Inglewood. I like Tony Katz’ (Big Journalism) take on her antics:
Is there Waters in Hell?

Saying the tea party can go to hell might get you a lot of cheers, but it gets you a lot of cheers from a group of ill-informed lackies who won’t do the hard work of asking themselves (to quote David Byrne) “How Did I Get Here?” Questions like that would lead them, if they are honest with themselves, to the reality that governmental polices (state and federal) that encourage high taxation and low growth, that over-regulate and undervalue the individual and that put far too much power in the hand of unions, not job creators, leads to high unemployment and a bad future.

…the tea party stands opposed to those kinds of bureaucratic nightmares. The tea party has done more to help the American people than Rep. Waters has ever done for her country, never mind her constituents. The tea party pushes people to recognize the inconsistencies in our elected officials, to value hard work, to force conversations that are tough and hard and messy while not giving up on the Constitution (which some elected leaders have chosen to do.) Rep. Waters pushes her constituents to hate. In this case, the tea party.

Just imagine the outrage from the Left if Michelle Bachmann or Sarah Palin had gone on a similar rant against the SEIU.

Pedophilia – Pushing ever closer to Perdition

It was really inevitable. After all, “intolerance” is the only thing that qualifies as sin in present-day American society.

The weak-minded and easily-intimidated have been beaten over the head with the gay-marriage-is-great stick so often that polls now say most of us agree. Never mind that every society since the dawn of civilization had defined marriage as between one man and one woman. Never mind that destruction of the nuclear family has been a goal of the homosexual agenda for decades –

From the Gay Liberation Front manifesto (1979):

“We must aim at the abolition of the family”, which was founded upon the “archaic and irrational teachings” of Christianity.

And certainly never mind God’s position on the institutions of marriage and family.

We’re never allowed to analyze, discuss, or compare and contrast various lifestyles and their impact on society. We’ve never allowed to ask the Progressives just what it is that we’re supposed to be progressing to. And we’re definitely never allowed to “judge” a behavior as wrong. That’s the very height of intolerance.

So now that the sheeple have been herded across the Gay Marriage Bridge it’s time to start pushing them toward the Pedophilia-Really-Isn’t-That-Bad-River.

Last week B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile activists and mental health professionals, held a conference in Baltimore aimed at normalizing pedophilia. An article at One News Now includes reporting from Matt Barber (an attorney and a Christian) about the event:

… he says the experts’ discussions were focused on “destigmatizing pedophilia … removing the stigma, and [getting] the public to stop demonizing pedophiles.”

…(Barber) reports that the APA is already moving toward declassifying pedophilia as a mental disorder “by saying that a pedophile is only a pedophile in their latest DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) … if they are distressed by their attractions or behaviors.”

[The APA (American Psychiatric Association) declassified homosexuality as a mental disorder in the 1970s.]

Push-push, nudge-nudge, mock dissention as “phobic”, demonize the opposition …and pretty soon a practice that disgusts most rational human beings becomes just another alternative lifestyle.

Tolerance is the virtue of a man without convictions.
~ G.K.Chesterton ~

The Hardest-Simplest Solution

When my son was younger, as a simple apologetic, we would talk about how much better the world would be if everyone followed God’s rules. About how, if most of us just tried to live by one tenet – the “Golden Rule” – things would improve dramatically…

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you,
do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

~ Matthew 7:12 ~

To make it easier to remember, we shortened it to “treat people the way you want to be treated.” And we agreed it was sometimes really hard to do.

Dennis Prager wrote a great article this week that describes how much of the evil in the world could be eliminated if we all actually followed God’s word – The Big Ten: Still the Only Solution to the World’s Problems

Properly understood and applied, the Ten Commandments are really all humanity needs to make a beautiful world. While modern men and women, in their hubris, believe that they can and must come up with new ideas in order to make a good world, the truth is there is almost nothing new to say.

If people and countries lived by the Ten Commandments, all the great moral problems would disappear.

Or, to put it another way, all the great evils involve the violation of one or more of the Ten Commandments.

Prager goes on to list the Commandments and, along with current and historical examples, explains how each of them is relevant both to our relationship with God and our relationships with others.

In giving us the Ten Commandments, God wasn’t setting Himself up to be a tyrannical ruler (like some of our politicians!). Rather, in His omniscience, and human nature being what it is, He was providing us with the best possible means for individual and collective happiness.

If we’re honest in looking back over our lives we can see where it’s been the failure to keep any or all of the Ten Commandments that has lead us astray. And been the source of our own misery – or misery to others.

Sometimes it’s really hard – if not impossible – for we fallen humans to to obey all God’s Commandments (that’s why we have a Redeemer!). But they’re still the best “rules” to live by, and the only hope for a better world.

Just Another Day in Post-Constitutional America

The Dictator-in-Chief is at it again: Obama Amnesty Begins: Halts Deportations for 300,000 Illegal Aliens; Offers ‘Work Permits’

Alternate headline: “Obama Adds 300,000 New Voters to Dems’ Registration Rolls”
This is a total travesty!

OK class, repeat after me:

Congress enacts the laws; the Executive Branch enforces the laws.
The Executive Branch doesn’t get to pick and choose which laws it enforces or we end up with lawlessness.

Which is exactly where we’re headed. From Stand With Arizona:

The Obama Administration today announced a virtual amnesty-by-decree for hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens, whose deportations will be “indefinitely delayed”. In addition, Obama finally announced a jobs program – but for ILLEGAL ALIENS, not citizens – as those 300,000 illegals will also become eligible for “work permits“.

This action represents an administrative end-run around Congress, which twice rejected the ‘DREAM Act’ in 2010. As disgraceful as is this usurpation of Congressional authority, this announcement is even worse than is being reported.

Our analysis reveals that – despite media focus of this action limited to so-called “Dreamer” illegal students, this new policy, coupled with the criteria established by the June 2011 “Morton Memos” which set up a joint “DHS and DOJ working group” could expand this “indefinite delay” of deportation to potentially MILLIONS of illegals – creating a new, massive amnesty entirely by fiat, bypassing Congress.

FAIR (Federation for American Immigration Reform) President Dan Stein
had this to say:

This step by the White House amounts to a complete abrogation of the president’s duty to enforce the laws of the land and a huge breach of the public trust. … In essence, the administration has declared that U.S. immigration is now virtually unlimited to anyone willing to try to enter — and only those who commit violent felonies after arrival are subject to enforcement.”

Couldn’t jam the DREAM Act through – instead we get this NIGHTMARE!

Wind Power; Bane of Birds

Our feathered friends don’t appear to be faring very well in the new era of green energy. In fact they’re sustaining some heavy casualties, especially in California, land of loony enviros.

William La Jeunesse reports:

As California attempts to divorce itself from fossil-fueled electricity, it may be trading one environmental sin for another — although you don’t hear state officials admitting it.

Seems the wind turbines are taking out birds by the thousands each year, including protected species of eagles, hawks and owls. Nationwide, the Fish and Wildlife Service says about 440,000 birds are killed at wind farms across the country each year.

Wind farms are often located in areas that provide layover spots for migratory birds traveling between Canada and Mexico. These areas can also be prime hunting grounds for raptors where updrafts enjoyed by birds of prey are ideal for generating power.

The raptors seem attracted to the turbine-provided updrafts as well,
like this unfortunate vulture:

La Jeunesse’s article continues ~

“The cumulative impacts are huge,” said Shawn Smallwood, one of the few recognized experts studying the impact of wind farms on migratory birds. “It is not inconceivable to me that we could reduce golden eagle populations by a great deal, if not wipe them out.”

California supports roughly 2,500 golden eagles. The state’s largest wind farms kill, on average, more than 80 eagles per year. But the state is set to triple wind capacity in the coming years as it tries to become the first state in the nation to generate 33 percent of its electricity from clean energy sources by 2020.

The green killer: Scores of protected golden eagles dying after colliding with wind turbines ~ It’s not looking good for the fate of the eagles, from the UK Daily Mail:

‘It would take 167 pairs of local nesting golden eagles to produce enough young to compensate for their mortality rate related to wind energy production,’ field biologist Doug Bell, manager of East Bay Regional Park District’s wildlife programme, told the Los Angeles Times. ‘We only have 60 pairs,’ he added.

And yet, the save-the-environment crowd doesn’t appear too motivated
to actually save the birds…

“Politics plays a huge role here,” Smallwood said. “Our leaders want this power source so they’re giving, for a time being, a pass to the wind industry. If you or I killed an eagle, we’re looking at major consequences.”

Smallwood and others say it is almost inconceivable the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, which enforces the U.S. Endangered Species Act, the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, hasn’t acted.

“There’s a big, big hypocrisy here,” Sue Hammer of Tehachapi Wildlife Rehab in Kern County said. “If I shoot an eagle, it’s a $10,000 fine and/or a vacation of one to five years in a federal pen of my choice.”

Among others, Exxon, an Oregon utility company and a fish hatchery have all had to pay up – big bucks – but “Big Wind” gets a pass.

Bat populations are being negatively effected by the spinning blades as well. And the casualties are global.

Progressives always seem to care so deeply about their latest issue. They don’t. Instead they dupe the truly well-intentioned (- who doesn’t want to “save the environment”?) but misinformed, and suck them into following along as they charge full steam ahead with no planning or foresight. And when faced with the inevitable failures of their destructive policies they ignore the facts, talk about “shared sacrifice” and move on to the next bad idea.
You only have to look at a sad story like this to realize that all they really care about is control.

~~~~~~~~~
Dead birds aren’t the only drawback to wind turbines:
They sink: That sinking feeling
They freeze: Northern New Brunswick wind turbines frozen solid
They’re an eyesore: Wind turbines off Normandy beaches a ‘desecration’
And if there’s no wind, they don’t work (duh!): No Wind In Texas
“Glowbama” fading?
Uh-oh, the Washington Times reports: Obama souvenir sales in tailspin. Bummer.
…if you really want to take the electorate’s pulse, go souvenir shopping. Money talks, and as the economy limps, our leaders snipe, and the rough beast of our divided government slouches toward next year’s presidential election, the political memorabilia tills have a tale to tell: For the president, it’s a scary one.
Never fear – Rambama is still available (and selling like hotcakes?) for a mere $34.95 @ Herobuilders.
