Seems Spanish River High School in Boca Raton, FL has a real smelly mess on their hands ~
Students … must step over rivers of urine and endure the stench of rancid waste after a plan to bring ‘green’ waterless urinals into bathrooms backfired.
School officials at Spanish River High School thought they had found an environmentally-friendly, cost-saving solution for their bathrooms when they installed Falcon Waterfree urinals in their boys bathrooms.
But with no water moving through the school’s copper pipes to flush the urine into the sewer system, the waste produced noxious gases that ate through the metal, leaving leaky pipes that allowed urine to drip into walls and flow onto floors.
Whoa! Talk about an “un-environmental” environment!
In 2010 Spanish River School District’s Chief Of Facilities Management won an award for “Green Initiatives.” And of course the high school has the requisite Environmental Club, the Global Warming Club and the “Veg” Club (Vegans? – or just kids who want to sit around and “veg out?”) I’m thinking maybe they can all join forces to clean up the environment disaster caused by green technology.
How many more tax dollars do we have to throw away on “green initiatives” before we realize they’re not ready for primetime?

At least the wind turbines in Britain are getting some well-deserved blowback. From the UK Telegraph:
David Cameron has been hit by a major protest by Conservative MPs over the Government’s backing for wind farms ~
A total of 101 Tory MPs have written to the Prime Minister demanding that the £400 million-a-year subsidies paid to the “inefficient” onshore wind turbine industry are “dramatically cut”.
The backbenchers, joined by some MPs from other parties, have also called on Mr Cameron to tighten up planning laws so local people have a better chance of stopping new farms being developed and protecting the countryside.
“In these financially straitened times, we think it is unwise to make consumers pay, through taxpayer subsidy, for inefficient and intermittent energy production that typifies onshore wind turbines,” they say. The MPs want the savings spread between other “reliable” forms of renewable energy production.
Watts Up With That? has even better news out of Europe: Germany in skeptical turmoil on both Climate and Solar/Windfarms. Not only is a leading German daily reporting that the Global Warming Crisis is a scam, but an energy expert, Dr. Guenter Keil;

Apparently, Hastings considers deliberate deceit to be “comforting the afflicted?” For all his self-righteous smugness, do you think he realizes that he’s totally undercutting any credibility he may have had? If you’re actually insinuating that you’re distorting the truth, why should I listen to anything you have to say?

I gotta tell you, some of us Tea Partiers are getting a bit weary from constantly battling the progressive forces of statism, so it’s wonderful to see we’re getting some reinforcements from the Catholic Church. You’re a little tardy – but welcome to the fight!

First off, more than three years after the fact, I still find it astounding that 54% of Catholics voted for President Obama – a man who actually supported partial-birth abortion. Good grief! And his over-the-top campaign stopped just short of billing him as the Second Coming. Like the rest of us Christians, I presumed that Catholics already has a Messiah, and would see through the Obama-Drama. Very disheartening.
So, although it’s taken an extra-constitutional action on the part of the administration, it’s encouraging to see that the Church Militant is finally awakening to the serious threat this regime represents to our God-given rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness – and specifically our freedom of religion. The source of this revelation is HHS’s (Health & Human Services) unconscionable regulation that requires all health-care plans in the United States to cover sterilizations and all FDA-approved contraceptives, including those that induce abortions.
As CNS News reports:
Because the Catholic Church holds that sterilization, artificial contraception and abortion are morally wrong and Catholic[sic] cannot be involved in them, the regulation in combination with the Obamacare mandate that all Americans buy health insurance will force American Catholics to choose between following the federal regulation or following the teachings of their church.
Meanwhile, back at Tyranny Central, spokes-idiot Jay Carney haplessly attempted to act as if this is no big deal; “I don’t believe there are any constitutional rights issues here.”
Right Jay. And you don’t believe in God either. (Which certainly makes it convenient to bear false witness.)
To his admirable credit, the Pope saw this coming with much greater clarity than most of his flock – although, with all due respect, it would have been helpful if he’d taken a more forceful stand four years ago. On January 19th, Benedict XVI met with a group of U.S. bishops from the mid-Atlantic region, warning them that some cultural trends in the U.S. are “a threat not just to Christian faith, but also to humanity itself;”
“For her part, the Church in the United States is called, in season and out of season, to proclaim a Gospel which not only proposes unchanging moral truths but proposes them precisely as the key to human happiness and social prospering,” the pope said.
“To the extent that some current cultural trends contain elements that would curtail the proclamation of these truths, whether constricting it within the limits of a merely scientific rationality, or suppressing it in the name of political power or majority rule, they represent a threat not just to Christian faith, but also to humanity itself and to the deepest truth about our being and ultimate vocation, our relationship to God,” said the pope.
“When a culture attempts to suppress the dimension of ultimate mystery, and to close the doors to transcendent truth,” the pope said, “it inevitably becomes impoverished and falls prey, as the late Pope John Paul II so clearly saw, to reductionist and totalitarian readings of the human person and the nature of society.”
In the same address, the pope noted that: “Of particular concern are certain attempts being made to limit that most cherished of American freedoms, the freedom of religion.”
Brilliant defense of the faith! And, praise God, most of the Bishops “get it.”
Last week, as CBN News reported; Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, soon to be ordained by Pope Benedict as a cardinal, says the White House has been on the wrong side of the Constitution several times.
“It’s not about contraception. It’s about the right of conscience,” he told reporters right before Obama gave his State of the Union Address.
“The government doesn’t have the right to butt into the internal governance and teachings of the church,” Dolan said. “This is not a Catholic issue, it’s an American issue. We’re strong on this issue of conscience, and that’s what’s at stake here.”
Cliff Kincaid has a great article at Accuracy in Media discussing his own priest’s courageous stand against this outrageous threat to liberty. In his homily last Sunday, Father Larry Swink (Huntingtown, MD) attacked;
… the Obama Administration as evil, even demonic, and warned of religious persecution ahead. What was also newsworthy about the sermon was that he cited The Washington Post in agreement—not on the subject of the Obama Administration being evil, but on the matter of its abridgment of the constitutional right to freedom of religion.
What is happening is extraordinary and unprecedented. The Catholic Church is in open revolt against the Obama Administration, with Fr. Swink noting from the pulpit that priests across the archdiocese were joining the call on Sunday to rally Catholics to resistance against the U.S. Government. He said we are entering a time of religious persecution and that Catholics and others will have to make a final decision about which side they are on…
… At a time when the media are full of reports about who is ahead and behind in the polls, and who will win the next Republican presidential primary, this incredible uprising in the Catholic Church is something that could not only overshadow the political campaign season, but also may have a major impact on the ultimate outcome—if Republicans know how to handle it. This matter goes beyond partisan politics to the growing perception of an unconstitutional Obama Administration assault on religious freedom. To hear the Catholic Bishops and Priests describe it, our constitutional republic and our freedoms hang in the balance.
In Peoria, IL, Bishop Daniel Jenky asked parishes, schools, hospitals and religious houses to insert the Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel into the intercessions at Sunday Mass to pray for Catholics’ freedom ~
“It is God’s invincible Archangel who commands the heavenly host, and it is the enemies of God who will ultimately be defeated,” the bishop said in a Jan. 24 letter to the Catholics of his diocese…
… He said it is his duty to summon the local Church into “spiritual and temporal combat in defense of Catholic Christianity.”
Bishop Jenky stated that the president does not have the authority under the U.S. Constitution to “require our cooperation with what we consider to be intrinsic evil and mortal sin…”
…“I am honestly horrified that the nation I have always loved has come to this hateful and radical step in religious intolerance.”
The bishop pledged that the Church will never abandon its commitment to the Gospel of Life and called on the faithful to “vigorously” oppose what he called an “unprecedented governmental assault upon the moral convictions of our faith.”
… “Have faith! Have courage! Fight boldly for what you believe!” he said. “I strongly urge you not to be intimidated by extremist politicians or the malice of the cultural secularists arrayed against us.”
Invoking the First Letter of John, he said Catholics should always remember that “the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

Hell, health insurance, and a man’s soul

Modern liberalism uses the power of the state to impose liberal values on institutions it regards as backward. It is the difference between pluralism and anti-clericalism.
The administration’s ultimate motivation is uncertain. Has it adopted a radical secularism out of conviction, or is it cynically appealing to radical secularists? In either case, the war on religion is now formally declared.

This morning our local radio station (WJR) ran a national news feed which had the announcer reporting “Republicans are set to grill the Justice Department over ‘Operation Fast & Furious.’ ” Of course my B.S. detector pinged immediately. Sheeple-ese translation: “Those Wascally Weepublicans are on another witch hunt, partisan politics as usual, nothing to see here, move along.”
That’s the network news’ subliminal message whenever they employ adjectives like “Republican,” or more commonly; “conservative,” “right-wing,” “far-right,” “hard-line conservative,” etc., to skew a story. So what their drone audience has been conditioned to hear is:
These are just the crazy conservatives at it again… we all know they’re nutjobs… you don’t want to listen to anything they have to say because you’d probably turn into a nutjob yourself… and then you won’t be hip and cool anymore like we superior elitists.
As for conservatives, when we hear those qualifiers inserted into an msm throw-away line, we usually realize: This must be an important story, I’ll do some digging and find out the truth.
Which is exactly why we pay attention to stories like “Fast & Furious.”
This debacle first gained national attention when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was killed in December 2010. Terry was murdered by Mexican illegals with AK-47-type weapons “supplied” through “Project Gunwalker.” More than 13 months have passed – and we still haven’t gotten to the bottom of this fiasco, primarily due to blatant obstruction by Eric Holder and his Department of Injustice. Aided and abetted by msm obfuscation.

This Debacle Needs Some “Fast & Furious” Attention ~ 8-12-11

Rep. Darrell Issa and his Committee on Oversight and Government Reform have been investigating “Fast & Furious” since Terry’s murder, and today Holder was called to testify before that House committee. Prior to the the hearing, Issa issued a statement on the committee’s findings thus far. Included were the following facts:
• The Justice Department has delivered fewer than 8% of the 80,000 documents we know it has identified as being related to this flawed operation.
• It has refused to allow investigators access to numerous witnesses who participated in the operation – one witness, after being served with a subpoena, invoked his Fifth Amendment right to protection against self-incrimination rather than answer questions.
• Justice Department now asserts that many documents pertaining to internal discussions and decision making about its response to Operation Fast and Furious are off-limits to investigators.
Predictably, today the Attorney General merely doubled-down on his previous prevarication. From Fox News:
Attorney General Eric Holder vigorously denied a “cover-up” by the Justice Department over “Operation Fast and Furious,” telling a House panel investigating the botched gun-running program that he has nothing to hide and suggesting the probe is a “political” effort to embarrass the administration.
“There’s no attempt at any kind of cover-up,” Holder told lawmakers well into a hearing about whether he had been forthright in responding to requests of the House Oversight and Government Relations Committee led by Chairman Darrell Issa, R-Calif.
“We’re not going to be hiding behind any kind of privileges or anything,” he said.
Unbelievably, Holder said that he has not disciplined anyone for his role in the controversial operation. It appears that he’s trying to pin responsibility for this disaster on the ATF branch in Phoenix but gee, he hasn’t been able to determine (13 months later!) who precisely it was in that office who initiated and authorized “Project Gunwalker.” Yeah – that’s convincing!
Holder even had the temerity to suggest that he should be “given some credit” for positive DOJ operations. 😯
When Rep. Ana Marie Buerkle(R-NY) asked him “How many more border patrol agents would have had to die as a result of Fast and Furious for you to take responsibility [and resign]?” he had this to say(Washington Examiner):
“I should be held accountable for, certainly, my role — whatever I did or didn’t do in connection to the supervision of Operation Fast and Furious,” Holder said during the hearing today. “But, yeah, I’m Attorney General of the United States and I should be held accountable, perhaps even given some credit — imagine that, given some credit — for the things that this Department has done under my leadership.”
Holder’s blather totally warranted Buerkle’s later rebuke:
“The Attorney General’s testimony today was disgraceful,” she said in the statement. “His continued deflection of accountability and denial of any knowledge of Operation Fast and Furious is shameful.”
Pay no attention to the mainstream media. This isn’t about the right-wing wackos vs. the lofty liberals. It’s about truth vs. falsehoods, right vs. wrong, and justice vs. injustice.

We Americans cherish our pets. We spend over $50 billion a year on them. A figure that, despite tough economic times, is actually increasing. From USA Today last October:
Spending in the pet economy has increased every year since 2001 and only once by less than 5 percent annually in that time.
Pet ownership is at an all-time high of 72.9 million households — about two out of every three. About 78 million dogs and 86.4 million cats in the United States represent a 2.1 percent increase from 2010.
On the other hand, for Muslims, “man’s best friend” is considered unclean – an offense. In parts of Europe, Islamists are aggressively engaged in an ongoing campaign against dogs (and their owners) as this article from the Stonegate Institute reports: Muslims Declare Jihad on Dogs in Europe ~
In the Netherlands, a Dutch Muslim politician recently called for an outright ban on the animals ~
This latest canine controversy — which the Dutch public has greeted with a mix of amusement and outrage — follows dozens of other Muslim-vs-dog-related incidents in Europe. Critics say it reflects the growing assertiveness of Muslims in Europe as they attempt to impose Islamic legal and religious norms on European society.
This Muslim anti-dog behavior has been going in Britain for years and is now spreading to other countries as the Islamification of Europe continues. Not only do the Religion of Peace practitioners detest dogs, they have no compassion for the disabled, many of whom depend on their aid-dogs for safety and mobility. Stonegate links to numerous anti-dog incidents:
• In Reading, one pensioner, a cancer sufferer, was repeatedly confronted by drivers and asked to get off the bus because of his guide dog. He also faced hostility at a hospital and in a supermarket over the animal.
• In Stafford, a Muslim taxi driver refused to carry an elderly blind couple from a grocery store because they were accompanied by their seeing-eye dog.
• In London, a bus driver prevented a woman from boarding a bus with her dog because there was a Muslim lady on the bus who “might be upset by the dog.” As the woman attempted to complain, the doors closed and the bus drove away. When a second bus arrived, she again tried to embark, but was stopped again, this time because the driver said he was Muslim.
• Also in Britain, police sniffer dogs trained to spot terrorists at train stations may no longer come into contact with Muslim passengers, following complaints that it was offensive to their religion. [Isn’t that convenient?!]
Then there was this heart-wrenching story out of Afghanistan last year: The Life of Wylie: Canine Cruelty By Our “Afghan Allies.” (At least the tale had a happy ending; our Australian allies rescued Wylie from a life of torture, abuse and certain death.)

Where does this irrational aversion come from? Who knows – maybe Muhammad was bitten by a dog as a child. Whatever. There’s something profoundly disturbing about a culture that seemingly rejects the very qualities western civilization values in their dogs; companionship, loyalty, unconditional love.
I recently came across this bit of wisdom from a six year old, pondering the all-too-short lifespan of dogs:
”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right? ‘Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Black people, if you vote Democrat that’s your choice, but please consider where the real bigotry comes from. We don’t call you what Democrats call us: Uncle Toms, sell outs, house ni**as, boot lickers, oreos, twinkies, bananas, coconuts … the list goes on.
