Day of Atonement

And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: “Also, the tenth day
of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement.

~ Leviticus 23:14 ~

The 24 hour period from sundown tomorrow (September 25th) until sundown on Wednesday is the holiest day of the Jewish year; Yom Kippur, or the Day of Atonement. As God established it, the day was to be one of fasting, sacrifice and denial in atonement for ones’ sins throughout the past year. He admonished His people to “afflict your souls.”

Until Jesus Christ laid down His life as a sacrifice for mankind to make Atonement for our sins, we were cut off from God. Every year, on the Day of Atonement, the high priest would have to go through a very elaborate and bloody ritual which was a representation of our true High Priest, and His sacrifice to come.

[Source: YourSpiritMindandBody.com]

Because the ultimate sacrifice was provided for us by God Himself in the form of His son, Jesus Christ, the thinking among many Christians is that no further atonement for our sins is necessary. Yet while the New Testament clearly abrogates Old Testament ceremonial law, the Day of Atonement is still one that remains relevant as an important day of reflection and repentance.

At YourSpiritMindandBody.com Mike Shanta, a Christian, shares his reasons for observing Yom Kippur ~

The Day of Atonement is a fast day in which no food or water is consumed from sundown to sundown. It is a time of repentance, and to reflect on the great sacrifice of our High Priest, Jesus Christ. When you go 24 hours without food or drink you realize just how temporary and weak our bodies are. It is a time of solemn reflection on our short comings and areas we need to improve on. But most of all, it is a time to be humbly grateful for Christ’s sacrifice.

I have been keeping the Day of Atonement for around 30 years now, and will be doing it again beginning tomorrow evening at sunset. Every year I gain a deeper understanding of the significance of this day, and I become more grateful and dependent on our Savior because of it.

There are those who would argue the keeping of these days is not necessary anymore. As I said, it is not my place to judge or debate, only to share. I would not consider this a salvation issue, but a learning and relationship deepening opportunity. I believe if keep this day, you will be spiritually impacted by it.

If you should decide to try keeping the The Day of Atonement, let me say this. If you have any health issues, talk to your doctor before doing so. You should take any medications that you’re on with a little water. This day is not an exercise in the letter of the law, but is a day of rich symbolism and meaning that can draw you closer to God.

Although it was a bull, a ram and a goat that were ceremonially sacrificed on the Old Testament Day of Atonement, this day represents and commemorates Christ’s sacrifice which reconciles us to God through His atoning or covering of our sins.

Escape from Hermit Kingdom Hell

For the last several months I’ve been haunted by a story I read in the UK Guardian.

The article, excerpted and edited from the recently published book “Escape from Camp 14” by Seattle journalist Blaine Harden, tells the astounding tale of Shin Dong-hyuk. And it vividly illustrates mankind’s limitless capacity for inhumanity.

Having deliberately isolated itself from the rest of the world, much of what happens inside the “Hermit Kingdom” is shrouded in secrecy. What little is known paints a grim picture. Open Doors ranks North Korea as the worst country in the world with respect to religious persecution:

Still the most hostile country in which to live and practice the Christian faith, there are reports of many Christians arrested, with at least 25 percent of Christians believed to be languishing in labor camps for their refusal to worship founder Kim Il-Sung’s cult. Half the population lives in the north, close to China, where family-based networks of house churches exist in significant numbers. Roughly ten million inhabitants are malnourished, with thousands eating only grass and bark.

While North Korea denies their existence, there at least 10-12 known forced-labor prison camps which hold more than 154,000 prisoners (US state department puts the number as high as 200,000).

The biggest installation is 31 miles long and 25 miles wide, an area larger than the city of Los Angeles. Camps 15 and 18 have re-education zones where detainees receive remedial instruction in the teachings of Kim Jong-il and Kim Il-sung, and are sometimes released. The remaining camps are “complete control districts” where “irredeemables” are worked to death.

The horrific nature of these camps is almost unfathomable. Harden’s description conjures an alternative universe where humans are essentially rats in a maze. It’s not just that the prisoners are denied food, healthcare or basic hygiene, they’ve deprived of their basic humanity.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It doesn’t appear that anything has improved in the country since Kim Jong Un succeeded his father Kim Jong Il last December.
Another account detailing the tragic conditions in North Korea has just been published: “Escape from North Korea: The Untold Story of Asia’s Underground Railroad.” by Melanie Kirkpatrick. Life outside of the camps isn’t significantly better for the average North Korean, but fortunately some of them have actually managed to flee the country.
In his review of the book, former Ambassador John Bolton maintains that;
North Korea’s continued existence is a blot on the consciences of the United States and other Free World nations.
Not only does the ludicrously named Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) continue its nuclear-weapons and ballistic-missile programs unchecked, but the oppression and misery of its citizens remain unequalled.
“Escape from North Korea” compares the situation of refugees from the DPRK to the that of the slaves in pre-Civil War America fleeing the South via the Underground Railroad.
Unfortunately for DPRK refugees, however, they escape not into relatively benign American free states or Western Europe, but into China, which Kirkpatrick rightly labels “another circle of hell.” Today’s Underground Railroad faces hostile Beijing authorities, and is accordingly run covertly, often by ministers and churchgoers, at great personal risk. As Kirkpatrick says, the first rule of survival for a North Korean reaching China is “find a Christian.”
Not coincidentally, the majority of leaders and supporters of the Abolition movement, and the Underground Railroad conductors, were… yes, Christians.
Bolton goes on in his article to propose diplomatic solutions that China, South Korea and the U.S. could take to alleviate the sad plight of the refugees and ultimately facilitate the collapse of the DPRK.
He concludes with this:
“Escape from North Korea” may someday be compared to Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin for blowing the lid off the DPRK gulag. In the meantime, anyone who wants to be truly knowledgeable about Korea or China has an obligation to read Kirkpatrick’s book. And if, after reading it, anyone disagrees with her conclusions, shame on him.
Although the original Guardian story that I mentioned above – about Harden’s book on Shin Dong-hyuk – is no longer available online (due to copyright expiration), several other news sources reported on it this past spring.
Here’s an excerpt from a Washington Post piece about the worst of the prison camps, the one in which Shin spent the first 23 years of his life:
In Camp 14, children are punished for the political sins of their fathers. Hunger is so omnipotent that every prisoner behaves like “a panicked animal” at mealtimes. Teachers at the camp school beat students to death for minor infractions. Medieval torture devices are employed in dungeon-like underground cells. And human relationships are so degraded that prisoners inform on family members.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

North Korea is a country that has “eliminated” God and replaced Him with an inhumane “Dear Leader.” The suffering of the DPRK people tragically illustrates the utter depravity of this philosophy.

Pray that more and more North Koreans are able to escape and “find a Christian.” And that the entire country may find the Savior.

Congratulations! Your “Fair Share” of the National Debt is now $51,000

In my Fiscal Crisis 101 post last year I presented a financial scenario (created by Gary McNamara of Red Eye Radio) that crunched down the national budget numbers to a personal scale, making it easy to understand the financial armageddon facing our nation.

The situation has only gotten measurably worse since then; our national debt has gone from $14,4 trillion last July to more $16 trillion today (that works out to more $51,000 per person – and doesn’t include the unfunded liabilities in social security and medicare/medicaid!). If you lop off the zeros and look at the figures from a personal budget perspective, you get this:

Imagine that ~

• your yearly salary is $24,000 ($2.4 trillion in annual government revenue); but,
• your annual expenditures are $36,000 (government spending ($3.6 trillion); and,
• your existing debt is $160,000 (present national debt $16 trillion)

Hello??!!!
America better break free from this fiscal fantasyland we’re living in – and fast!

Patriot Spy; American Hero

Nathan Hale was born in Connecticut in 1755. Upon graduation from Yale at age 18, he took a teaching position in New London, CT. Less than 2 years later, when the American Revolution began with the battles of Lexington and Concord, Hale immediately enrolled in the local militia.

By late 1776, when the British had captured New York City, the young man was a captain in the Patriot army. And when George Washington needed someone to go behind enemy lines and discover what they were planning, Nathan Hale, age 21, bravely volunteered.

Disguised as a schoolteacher, he was able to cross to Long Island, obtain and record the needed information, hiding his notes in the soles of his shoes. Heading back, he made it past all the British guards but the last ones. They searched Hale, found his secret papers and arrested him.

Captured on the night of September 21st, Captain Nathan Hale was hung by the British for the crime on espionage the following day, September 22nd, 1776. The following account was recorded by Captain William Hull of the Continental Army ~

Sir William Howe, without the form of a trial, gave orders for his execution the following morning. He was placed in the custody of the Provost Marshal, who was a refugee and hardened to human suffering and every softening sentiment of the heart. Captain Hale, alone, without sympathy or support, save that from above, on the near approach of death asked for a clergyman to attend him. It was refused. He then requested a Bible; that too was refused by his inhuman jailer.

‘On the morning of his execution,’ continued the officer, ‘my station was near the fatal spot, and I requested the Provost Marshal to permit the prisoner to sit in my marquee, while he was making the necessary preparations. Captain Hale entered: he was calm, and bore himself with gentle dignity, in the consciousness of rectitude and high intentions. He asked for writing materials, which I furnished him: he wrote two letters, one to his mother and one to a brother officer.’ He was shortly after summoned to the gallows. But a few persons were around him, yet his, characteristic dying words were remembered. He said, ‘I only regret that I have but one life to lose for my country.’

Mission Possible: Flip the Senate!

Whether we succeed in replacing the “empty chair” with an actual president in November or not, we can’t lose focus on the other critical goals; holding on to the House, and re-taking the Senate. If – God forbid – Obama is reelected, a strong Republican Congress will be crucial to containing any further damage by the progressives. And if Romney does get in, he’ll need Congress behind him to make any significant changes; shrink government, save us from going off the fiscal cliff and restore prosperity.

Well aware of those realities, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) has been working tirelessly to establish a conservative presence in the Senate. And those efforts are making a difference.

Although they don’t yet have the political clout, current conservative senators are definitely making their voices heard. Some really good news today from Heritage ~

A group of Senate conservatives has gathered enough support to block any treaties that come up for a vote during the lame duck session.

A total of 37 Senators pledged, in a letter drafted by Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) to Majority and Minority leaders Harry Reid (D-NV) and Mitch McConnell (R-KY), to “oppose efforts to consider a treaty during” the lame duck session.

Because treaties require a two-thirds majority in the Senate to reach the president’s desk, the group of Senators will be able to block any treaties considered after the Nov. 6 election.

“The writers of the Constitution clearly believed that all treaties presented to the Senate should undergo the most thorough scrutiny before being agreed upon,” the letter states. “The American people will be electing representatives and senators in November, and the new representatives carrying the election mandate should be afforded the opportunity to review and consider any international agreements that are outstanding at the time of their election.”

This means they can kill the Law of the Sea Treaty, a huge victory for American sovereignty!

Conservatives are also standing up to the EPA and the war on coal. And their efforts are catching on in the House: House votes to rein in ‘war on coal’ after latest round of industry layoffs. Although it’s probably for political expediency, even some Dems are getting behind this common sense approach.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DeMint’s Senate Conservative Fund has been successfully supporting the most promising candidates for the last few years; no RINOs allowed!
SCF seeks to bring bold conservative leadership to Washington by supporting candidates who have the courage to fight for the timeless conservative principles of limited government, strong national defense, and traditional family values.
Before we endorse candidates, we research their backgrounds and records, conduct face-to-face interviews, and confirm their willingness to fight for conservative principles. We also verify their support for the following policy goals:
Balance the Budget – SCF candidates will support a constitutional amendment to balance the federal budget without raising taxes.
Repeal ObamaCare
Secure the Borders – The federal government has failed to enforce our nation’s immigration laws. SCF candidates will seal the borders and oppose all forms of amnesty.
Defend the 2nd Amendment – The 2nd Amendment protects our ability to keep and bear arms. SCF candidates will oppose all efforts to restrict this right.
Stop Corporate Bailouts – Bailouts force taxpayers to reward failure and punish success. SCF candidates will stop bailouts and force corporations to compete.
Ban Earmarks – Congressional earmarks are a gateway drug to higher spending. SCF candidates will ban earmarks and break Washington’s addiction to pork.
Establish Term Limits – Our country is being destroyed by career politicians. SCF candidates will support a constitutional amendment establishing congressional term limits.
Protect Human Life – Human life is precious and it must be protected. SCF candidates will stop all taxpayer funding for abortion.
This vetting process protects our members from wasting their money on liberal Republicans and it maximizes their ability to truly change the U.S. Senate.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Conservatives will vote for Mitt regardless of his low “enthusiasm factor.”
But Senator DeMint’s conservative principles and candidates are something we can really get excited about!

Please consider supporting this hugely important cause: Senate Conservative Fund. You can donate to specific individuals – there are presently 8 solid conservatives (AZ,IN,MD,NE,OH,PA,TX,VA) – or to the general fund.

Imagine the look on Harry Reid’s face on November 6th when Republicans take the Senate 😯 — priceless!

Cultural Decline & the “Gaga Factor”

Google “Lady Gaga” and you’ll find a plethora of really bizarro images, each one stranger than the next. Seriously, this poor woman seems to be suffering from a terminal case of identity crisis.

But look beyond the in-your-face exhibitionism and you find what she’s really doing is broadcasting – at full volume – her own version of reality; it’s a world where nothing is essentially good, and virtually anything goes.

In case you haven’t noticed, it’s a full-frontal assault on traditional values. And it’s an attitude, a belief system, that is rapidly permeating western civilization.

Which is why, just when we think modern-day culture can’t possibly sink any lower, we realize we’re sadly mistaken. Brace yourself.
Brent Bozell discusses the next “new normal” being foisted on society in his commentary: “Incest and Pedophilia, the New Frontier” ~

Hollywood’s march to tear down — to obliterate, really — every boundary of sexual decency should compel even the harshest accusers of social conservatives like Rick Santorum to apologize profusely. They were wrong to mock conservatives for warning of the extremes, as we’re lurching so quickly and easily into the darkest “love who you want” extremes of the Lifestyle Left.

Bozell includes a quote from Nick Cassavetes, director of a new film I’ll be sure to avoid (“Yellow”), who thinks incest may really not be all that bad:

“I’m not saying this is an absolute, but in a way, if you’re not having kids — Who gives a damn? Love who you want. Isn’t that what we say? Gay marriage — love who you want? If it’s your brother or sister, it’s super weird, but if you look at it, you’re not hurting anybody, except every single person who freaks out because you’re in love with one another.”

So Old Nick (thought the name seemed rather fitting) figures what the heck? “This whole movie is about judgment, and lack of it and doing what you want. Who gives a s—- if people judge you?”

Sure, rather than being ashamed of your own perverted proclivities, shame the rest of us for being “judgemental.”

Equally horrifying are new voices we’re starting to hear, whispering maybe pedophiles are just “born that way.”

A recent article published at “Gawker,” a gossip website, was subtitled “Sympathy and Science for Those Who Want to Have Sex With Children;”

“a growing number of researchers, many of them out of Canada, whose work suggests that pedophilia is an illness deserving of the public’s sympathy the way any brain disorder is. Some of the scientists say pedophilia is a sexual orientation, meaning that it’s unchangeable, regardless of how much jail time or beatings or therapy someone is dealt.”

Following this opinion to its logical conclusion, everyone sitting in prison today was “born that way,” that is with an innate desire to do the wrong thing. The difference between the criminals (including those who just haven’t been caught yet) and the rest of society, is the degree to which each of us succumb to those desires.

The truth is the “way” we are all born is with original sin. We are all tempted in different directions, and to varying degrees, to do the wrong thing.

But we were also born with free will, the ability to chose between right and wrong, good and evil. We have God’s word to teach us the difference, and we have His Holy Spirit to rely on when temptation comes.

As Bozell concludes:

Jesus would embrace every sinner … who is ashamed of his sin. Shame and judgment have been banished in most of our pop culture.

Presidential Character

George Washington literally defined the term “presidential.”

For those of us familiar with his admirable character, could there possibly be a more stunning contrast between the “Father of our country” and the present occupant of the White House?

In our first president, America was blessed with a true leader in every sense of the word. George Washington was honorable, God-fearing, humble, courageous, loyal to the patriot cause and entirely trustworthy.

Unfortunately, none of those qualities can be found in Barack Obama, a spiteful man with a perennial chip on his shoulder. A narcissist with the temperament and tone of a dictator, he is disrespectful, deceitful, callously mocks God, and refuses to accept responsibility for the disastrous results of his administration’s policies.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On September 19, 1796, newspapers first published Washington’s Farewell address. His speech clearly illustrates the stark dissimilarity between the two presidents.
Note that, in the following excerpt, Washington’s use of the pronoun “I” was merely a grammatical necessity, most definitely not a blatant attempt at self-aggrandizement ~
…In the discharge of this trust, I will only say that I have, with good intentions, contributed towards the organization and administration of the government the best exertions of which a very fallible judgment was capable. Not unconscious in the outset of the inferiority of my qualifications, experience in my own eyes, perhaps still more in the eyes of others, has strengthened the motives to diffidence of myself; and every day the increasing weight of years admonishes me more and more that the shade of retirement is as necessary to me as it will be welcome. Satisfied that if any circumstances have given peculiar value to my services, they were temporary, I have the consolation to believe that, while choice and prudence invite me to quit the political scene, patriotism does not forbid it.
As he left office, Washington was anxious for the Republic that he and his fellow patriots had fought so hard to establish, and deeply concerned that it be preserved for generations to come.
The separation of powers between the three branches of government was vital;
…. It is important, likewise, that the habits of thinking in a free country should inspire caution in those entrusted with its administration, to confine themselves within their respective constitutional spheres, avoiding in the exercise of the powers of one department to encroach upon another. The spirit of encroachment tends to consolidate the powers of all the departments in one, and thus to create, whatever the form of government, a real despotism. A just estimate of that love of power, and proneness to abuse it, which predominates in the human heart, is sufficient to satisfy us of the truth of this position. The necessity of reciprocal checks in the exercise of political power, by dividing and distributing it into different depositaries, and constituting each the guardian of the public weal against invasions by the others, has been evinced by experiments ancient and modern; some of them in our country and under our own eyes. To preserve them must be as necessary as to institute them. If, in the opinion of the people, the distribution or modification of the constitutional powers be in any particular wrong, let it be corrected by an amendment in the way which the Constitution designates. But let there be no change by usurpation; for though this, in one instance, may be the instrument of good, it is the customary weapon by which free governments are destroyed. The precedent must always greatly overbalance in permanent evil any partial or transient benefit, which the use can at any time yield.
Religion and morality are critical to the survival of the Republic;
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice ? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Barack Obama is the antithesis of everything that made George Washington great. He’s a petty, self-absorbed, irreligious, Machiavellian tyrant. And in three and a half short years he has relentlessly attempted to dismantle everything that Washington and the founders so brilliantly and carefully constructed.

Simply put, the Republic bequeathed to us by our first president and his fellow patriots cannot survive another four years of Barack Hussein Obama. We owe it to the memory of all the liberty-cherishing Americans who came before us to make sure he delivers his farewell address in January 2013.

Comforted and Sustained by Faith

Early last week our local news was dominated by the story of a barricaded gunman in a standoff with police. The situation escalated from a “shots-fired” domestic dispute after the perpetrator shot and killed a responding officer. After a 20 hour siege, the gunman was found dead inside his home.

Patrick O’Rourke, a 12-year veteran of the force, married with four children, was the first officer to be killed in the line of duty in the township’s history.

The day after this tragedy unfolded O’Rouke’s wife Amy spoke with a local news station (WXYZ-Channel 7 Action News). Amazing composed, she talked about her husband’s love for his family and for Jesus, and how her faith and the love of family and friends are sustaining her through this terrible loss.

What a wonderful testimony to her Christian faith:

Criminalizing Free Speech

It’s a scenario that could have come straight from the imagination of George Orwell. Yesterday, federal authorities marched in for “questioning,” the Southern California filmmaker said to be responsible for the anti-Islam movie that’s been falsely blamed for the embassy attacks and subsequent Islamic riots.

Allegedly in violation of probation for a financial crime of some sort, did this man really need to be hauled off in the middle of the night by an intimidating cadre of police officers? Apparently so, as John Nolte at Breitbart reports;

While terrorists brutally rape and murder our Libyan ambassador and attack and burn our foreign outposts — all thanks to a president who disengaged from the region and embraced the Muslim Brotherhood — here in the United States of America, a filmmaker is being scapegoated and persecuted by our government and our media.

This is chilling stuff people.

The filmmaker has been released but he and his family have been forced to go into hiding because as Pamela Geller puts it, this is sharia enforcement in America. In essence it’s a death fatwa sanctioned by the Obama administration.

As Andrew Klavan says of the Left (and this creeping fascism), in an excellent post:

The people who booed the God of love, now rush to the defense of a hateful Allah. The people who pissed on the Christ of redemption, now bewail the hurt feelings of a damnable Islam. The people who denounced the death of civil liberties under the Patriot Act, now make rationalizations as brown-shirted cops drag a man from his home at midnight for the crime of posting a video on YouTube.

Is this still America? Aren’t you starting to wonder…?

Col. West Debunks Adminstration’s Phoney “Spontaneous” Outrage Narrative

Like most rational Americans, Col. Allen West (R-FL) isn’t buying the spin from Obama’s surrogates regarding the embassy attacks. It wasn’t “happenstance,” “coincidence” or “spontaneous.”

West also criticizes the reaction of the administration to the violence and the murder of embassy personnel as “asinine, naive, inept, incompetent, and borderline ignorant “ ~

Fox News Host Jeanine Pirro: “Do you think they’re being disingenuous, or they’re just kind of spinning, or do you think they’re outright distorting the truth?”

West: “they’re outright distorting the truth -”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorting fact from fiction when it comes to the Middle East mess is not an easy task. Frequently it’s a case of untangling dueling agendas. I find that one of the most credible sources of information is Walid Shoebat, who’s only agenda seems to be the truth.
Arabic by birth and a former member of the Muslim Brotherhood, Shoebat is now a Christian convert and peace activist:
For the record, my name is Walid Shoebat. I used to be a radicalized Muslim willing to die for the cause of Jihad until I converted to Christianity in 1994. As a member of the PLO I was involved in terror activity, and was imprisoned in Jerusalem for three weeks. In prison, I was recruited to plant a bomb in Bethlehem as a result of which, thank God, no one was injured. My mother was an American and my father a Palestinian Arab. My parents sent me in 1978 to the United States to study at Loop College in Chicago Illinois. There I was recruited at a hotel “Terror Conference” by Jamal Said, a founder of the IAP (Islamic Association of Palestine) and Imam at one of the largest mosques in Chicago. The IAP was a forerunner to today’s Hamas terror organization and also to the terror front group CAIR (Council for American Islamic relations). This was in the early 1980s when I was being trained for Jihad activities in the USA along with many other young foreigners as well as US citizens. The Imams were the prime recruiters for terrorism then as they are still today and terror conferences are held all over the USA to this day.
Considering the violent, reactive nature of the extremists to any perceived “offense” to Islam, evidenced by the worldwide protests around the world (even Australia!) this past week, as an “apostate,” Shoebat has nothing to gain and everything to lose by speaking out. And yet, courageously, he does.
And what he says, is that at the heart of the embassy attacks, riots and demonstrations is a concerted effort to make free speech against the Islamic religion an international crime:
The attacks on U.S. Embassies had very little to do with the latest film and much more to do with the old story of the Muhammad Cartoon and the failure of Muslims to prosecute internationally the culprits who drew the Muhammad cartoons. This will be another attempt to change the laws globally.
Wisam Abdul Waris of Dar Al-Hekma (House of Wisdom) – about whom the Nour Salafist party announced publicly that its call to demonstrate was in support of – began a call to push for the passage of laws to be placed in the Egyptian Constitution – as well as internationally – that would make it illegal to criticize Islam.
His article includes direct (translated) sources to substantiate this claim along with video and facebook postings ~ Arabic Sources Reveal the Truth Regarding Attacks on U.S. Embassy in Egypt ~
Make no mistake; the notion that these riots were spawned by an anti-Islam movie is completely and totally fallacious. It is not about the movie; it is about never letting a crisis go to waste. It is all about intimidating countries into implementing laws designed to extinguish free speech rights. The film is nothing more than a tool to be used to exploit politically correct inclinations.
Anti-American Savages of the Post-American World ~ another excellent article from Daniel Greenfield at Sultan Knish:
Let us dispense with any pretense that if we do criminalize defamation of religion or prosecute Mohammed cartoons as a hate crime, that this will be because we are tolerant or respect religion. It will be because we are afraid of Muslims and we are right to be afraid of Muslims because our leaders are gutless cowards who have no idea how to deal with anyone whose greatest fear in life isn’t being called a racist on the evening news.
