Progressive Provocations

Speaking with Bill Hemmer at Fox News yesterday, ex-US Navy SEAL Ben Smith articulated what many of us knuckle-dragging Tea Partiers have been quietly suspecting for a couple years now: all this mockery, name-calling, irrational accusations and punitive actions by the Left seem calculated to produce the very behaviors they’ve slandered us with.

Ex-US Navy SEAL Ben Smith joins Fox News and drops a bombshell on the US government by revealing that the government ITSELF is CREATING the conditions necessary to impose martial law here in America ~

Video: Fox News via Tea Party Tribune

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Because the Tea Party advocates a limited federal government, as envisioned by the founders and embodied by the Constitution, because we believe in free-market capitalism, self-reliance, personal responsibility – and (gasp!) God, we are demonized by the Left as crazies, extremists, radicals, jihadists, terrorists, racists, lunatic fringe, anarchists, hostage takers, fascists and – here’s one I hadn’t heard before – Tealibans.
They have absolutely no evidence that we are any of those things (or everyone in the country would have seen the video footage 50 times by now). And the ones screeching the loudest absolutely know it. (In most cases, the Tea Party is exactly the opposite of what we’re being accused of.) But they also know that if they keep yammering-hammering that someone, somewhere will probably crack.
When the real fascists start marching in to control the “extremists,” remember Ben Smith’s words…
Obama’s Reality-free Economics
The longer the mainstream media provides cover for the autocrat in the White House, the bigger and bolder his lies get. Lately, he’s been peddling the fantasy that there will be no real-life consequences to out-of-control spending. Sure thing. Just raise the debt limit and keep spending like a bunch of drunken sailors.
Here’s what those of us who live in the real world know about dealing with budgets, via Sen.Tom Coburn (R-OK) on the Senate floor last week ~
“We’re in trouble financially. We’re $30 trillion in the hole. Plus another $17 trillion in debt. Wouldn’t it be smart if we started addressing that problem before we blankly give an increase in the level of the credit card? Actually what we should do is we should cut this credit card up, which is what I’m going to do because that’s the way I vote. I think it’s time we quit borrowing money – actually I think I’ll just tear it up. Time we quit borrowing money against the future of our kids. It’s time we quit mortgaging their future. It’s time we start taking responsibility for the actions of the federal government rather than giving excuses on why we can’t get together and address the real problems of this country.”
~ Dr. Coburn on the Senate Floor October 8, 2013
While completely ignoring the out-of-control spending and unfathomable debt, President Obama deceitfully claims the U.S. will default on its interest payments if he doesn’t get his way ~
“Our government is closed for the first time in 17 years. A political party is risking default for the first time since the 1700s.”
Wrong. As Thomas Sowell explained about this canard ~
“Perhaps the biggest of the big lies is that the government will not be able to pay what it owes on the national debt, creating a danger of default. Tax money keeps coming into the Treasury during the shutdown, and it vastly exceeds the interest that has to be paid on the national debt.”
Obama is also trying to gin up sympathy for the poor federal workers, “victims” of the shutdown; “(b)ecause they’re being punished enough through no fault of their own.” 🙄
Yeah, cue the violins. Like John Stossel says: “Government Shutdown: Don’t Believe the Hype” ~
… the city that whines most about suffering through the shutdown, Washington, D.C., is now the richest geographic area in America. Washington got richer while the rest of America didn’t. Over the past 12 years, median income in the U.S. dropped about 6.5 percent — but not in D.C.! There, it rose 23 percent. Four of the five richest counties now surround Washington, D.C.
Washington D.C. is actually a reality-free zone. The rest of the country is being forced to support the fantasy.
Progressive Plundering
Want to understand how Detroit went from “boom town” to “busted?” Check out this story: Food Stamp Glitch Leaves Walmart Shelves Bare: ‘Like a Tornado Had Came Through’
Shelves at two Louisiana Walmart stores were emptied during a shopping frenzy last weekend, after a glitch in the Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) system allowed government food stamp recipients to make unlimited purchases.
The help-yourself spree lasted about two hours. When the EBT system came back on-line, card-holders left, simply abandoning the over-flowing shopping carts.
So where’s the similarity with Motown? Well, compress five decades of moral decline and government-enabled raiding, into two hours of “free stuff” in a Louisiana Walmart and you get essentially the same result:
Property that someone else built, produced and/or paid for gets looted, trashed and abandoned by an entitled, redistributionist mob.
Detroit and those two Walmart stores were both sacked. One event took much longer that the other, but each contained the essential ingredients for boundless plundering:
• “free” stuff;
• herd mentality;
• no restraints – either internal (conscience, self-control) or external (lawful authorities)
Intentionally or not – this is exactly the type of behavior that progressive policies produce.
In her column yesterday, Star Parker explained how the current government shutdown and fiscal showdown reflect a decaying morality; Budget crisis has its roots in erosion of values. And of course the Left has been encouraging bad values for decades.
We all agree that we want to get as many people out of poverty as possible.
The evidence abounds that a lifestyle that reflects personal responsibility and traditional values — like traditional sexual attitudes and marriage and family — reduces dramatically chances that an individual will wind up in poverty.
I hope people live according to these values. But if they don’t want to, that’s their business.
But those on the left don’t think so. They want to foster a culture that says do what you want. They think to promote traditional values in schools and popular culture is inappropriate and small-minded and at times even unconstitutional.
Then they say it is only fair that everyone pay the costs of the mess this culture of moral relativism makes.
Which brings us to: Food stamp shopping spree: Who pays?
“These businesses are only reimbursed for the benefits on the card, and they are completely responsible. So if someone had $50 dollars on their card, and they spent $100, the retailer, in this case Walmart future Walmart shoppers (because the company has to make up the money somehow), will (ulitmately) be on the hook for the other $50.
As with Walmart, Detroit, and every other ruin caused by misguided, mismanaged and ultimately immoral Leftist policies, it’s always the law-abiding, taxpaying citizens covering the cost of their miserable failures. They should just call us the “Sucker Class.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A Walmart shopper – arriving at one of the stores after the EBT spree – was taken aback by the selfish plundering, but opined that it was a natural human reaction.
He might be right. If so, we’re definitely devolving as a species.
We used to aspire to higher things, back when we tried to follow the ten commandments.

Rebel WITH a Cause

I’ve been trying to explain about Christian allegiance to a Higher Authority for a couple years now; God before government. That’s a reality that our revolutionary founders all understood, whether the Left wants to acknowledge it or not.
Here’s a great article from Doug Giles at Clash Daily with the same message – just a bit more in-your-face 🙂 ~

HEY, WUSSVILLE: Rebellion To Tyrants Is Obedience To God

The Christians of the first century were rebels with a cause. They weren’t the hair-spray-addicted, religious sponges of pop culture and oppressive governments looking to be ogled by an Oprah-addled crowd. Oh, no, senorita. The primitive church was out to change the world.

After Jerusalem fell in AD 70, the church, birthed by the Holy Spirit during Rome’s heyday, exploded with growth in Asia Minor — which happened to be Ground Zero for Caesar worship.

The punch-drunk citizens of Roman rule thought the various Caesars, their laws, and their government were God. They built temples to these men and minted coins with their mugs stamped on them. The poor dupes of Rome believed their leaders’ poop didn’t stink and they could do no wrong. They even gave their human leaders godlike reverence, proclaiming Caesar as Savior and Healer, King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Yep, to the serfs of Caesarland, their heads of state were just dreamy, and as they were divine everyone was expected to toe their line. Because of this blind faith in Caesar, the Roman government found it a piece of cake to tax the plebes to death, snatch their kids or their houses, and create crises that ginned up even more robust control of Rome’s citizens. I’m talkin’ Caesar had them on a short leash because of their faith in the state.

The early church, however, made it clear amidst this crapola that their allegiance was to Christ and not the edicts of Caesar — especially when Caesar’s dictates conflicted with the Word of God. Yep, it was the church’s disdain for Caesar’s unrighteous decrees (the decrees that required their obedience at the expense of their convictions) that got them killed.

Get it right, folks: It wasn’t the church’s belief that Jesus is God, or their love of covered dish dinners, or their Christian rock music that got them the ax; it was their holy defiance to the demonic edicts that Caesar attempted to slap them with. Rome didn’t give a rat’s backside whom or what they believed in just as long as that belief didn’t rock the boat of the Roman state. And that’s exactly what first-century Christianity did: It adhered to God’s laws versus Rome’s. The Church believed that Christ was Lord and therefore, respectfully of course, Caesar could kiss their fish sticker. Indeed, following the teachings of Jesus, the initial Ichthus crowd was cantankerous when it came to an oppressive state.

I’m sure the church tried to be nice about their obstinacy toward Rome’s odious laws, but when push came to legislative shove and it became clear that punk Caesar was requiring them to walk his way versus God’s, the first-century church defied the state instead of denying their God.

The moral principles and precepts contained in the
Scripture ought to form the basis of all our civil
constitutions and laws. All the miseries and evil men
suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression,
slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or
neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible.

Saturday Shorts 10-12-13

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

Whoa! Is this October? ~ A Record-Setting Blizzard Killed 75,000 Cows and You Might Not Have Even Heard About It ~ Unless you’re a regular Weather Channel viewer you probably missed this one. Change Your Species, Change Your Race? Why Not? ~

Political correctness now requires that objective reality sit the bench while subjective silliness takes the field. For today’s uber-“tolerant” mom and dad – ahem – “mom and mom” or “dad and dad,” having a child of each “sex” (or acquiring one as biological limitations may dictate) apparently means a “family” that looks more like the bar scene from “Star Wars” than “The Donna Reed Show.”

Who will hear their cries?

“Does anybody hear our cry?
How many atrocities must we endure before
somebody, somewhere, comes to our aid?”

These questions were posed by Fouad Twal, the Catholic Patriarch of Jerusalem, in 2011. He was speaking during a conference in London, addressing the crisis facing Arab Christianity in the Middle East.

Obviously no one in a position to do anything did hear – or cared. Because two years later, the situation has gotten measurably worse – both in the Middle East, across Northern Africa, and throughout large chunks of Asia.

Now I’m sure I don’t need to remind anyone of the other cultural phenomenon currently marching through these very same countries. And not coincidentally,
it’s the very same force behind the majority of the persecution; yes my friends, the Religion of Peace.

David Wood (Answering Muslims) can attest to recent horrors being carried out in the name of Allah in eastern Africa ~

~~~~~~~~~~~~
A couple weeks ago the Spectator (UK version) published a piece titled “The war on Christians; The global persecution of Christians is the unreported catastrophe of our time.”
To their credit, they are sounding the alarm but – like Fouad Twal – are also wondering why no one hears or cares ~
Why are the dimensions of this global war so often overlooked? Aside from the root fact that the victims are largely non-white and poor, and thus not considered ‘newsmakers’ in the classic sense, and that they tend to live and die well off the radar screen of western attention, the global war also runs up against the outdated stereotype of Christianity as the oppressor rather than the oppressed.
They speculate that it’s a combination of ignorance (with, I believe, a large measure of historical revisionism thrown in) and media malpractice.
Probably. But I think that western churches’ silence (apathy?!) is a huge factor. They are (rightly) at the fore-front of the pro-life movement. But are rarely heard from on this life-threatening issue.
Sen. Rand Paul Shames Media For Ignoring Islam’s ‘Worldwide War On Christianity’ ~ It was great to learn that Sen. Paul spoke about the persecution crisis today at the Values Voters Summit ~
“You won’t hear much about it on the evening news because the answer is not convenient and does not fit the narrative we have been told about radical Islam,” Paul added.
Paul also said President Obama “tries to gloss over who is attacking and killing Christians.”
“But the truth is, there is a worldwide war on Christians by a fanatical element of Islam,” Paul said.
“Ever since 9/11, commentators have tried to avoid pointing fingers at Islam,” he said. “While it is fair to point out that most Muslims are not committed to violence against Christians, this is not the whole truth and we should not let political correctness stand in the way of the truth.”
Thank you Senator!
And the Zombie Vote goes for…
Mark Levin calls them drones. You know, the mindless ranks of Democrat voters, the ones who stumble to the polls election after election, never comparing, questioning or analyzing, just pulling the same lever for the donkey party ad infinitum… (maybe even after they’ve passed on…)
Inspired by our latest entertainment craze, Don Feder gives the creatures a different moniker; zombies. Considering the number of dead people found on national voter rolls, the designation is especially apt.
From the countless horror productions Hollywood has churned out in the last few years, we’ve learned that there are common traits shared by the all living dead. First and foremost ~
Zombies are one-dimensional characters.
What is a zombie but a brainless, soulless, maniacal eating-machine – staggering through the streets, slack-jawed and glassy-eyed, arms hanging loosely, looking for human flesh to devour? That’s the motivation, period. They are slow-moving and emit incoherent, guttural sounds. Their eating habits are disgusting (ripping flesh from victims, their mouths dripping blood and gore). And yet, despite their mindlessness, their mere numbers, ferocity and insatiable appetites make them a menace to mankind.
They’re also a different end-of-the world scenario. We’re destroyed not by melting ice caps, contagions that can’t be controlled or an alien invasion, but when humans turn into brain-dead, cannibalistic creatures bent only on destruction.
Much like Democratic voters.
Zombie Democrats are incapable of anything approaching reasoning. Rush Limbaugh calls them “low-information voters.” That’s generous. They are unable to process information that doesn’t fit preconceived notions – novel concepts like children do best when raised in two-parent households and no nation was ever attacked because it was too strong. Evidence is irrelevant. Logic is suspect.
By way of illustrating his point, Feder imagines a few futile attempts at communication with the species ~
You: “See, zombie, here’s a graph showing that as the marginal tax-rate increases, so too does unemployment.”
Zombie: “Arrrragh!” First he eats the graph; then he eats you.
You: “Now zombie, why do you think states and municipalities with stringent gun control have higher homicide rates than those with easier access to firearms?”
Zombie slobbers and shrieks.
You: “And, Zombie, why do amnesties always result in more illegal immigration?”
Zombie looks about for a midnight snack, preferably a Republican.
You: “Zombie, my friend, if Islam is indeed the religion of peace, why are the overwhelming majority of terrorist incidents, here and abroad, committed by serious Muslims: 9/11, the Ft Hood shootings, the Mumbai massacre, the Boston Marathon bombings, the machete-murder of a British soldier in London, the Nairobi shopping mall murders, the genocide of Christians in the Middle East?”
Zombie grunts and sways from side to side.
Included in the article is some helpful advice on dealing with the walking dead. For example ~
• Just as crosses, garlic and sunshine are protection against vampires, liberal zombies are repelled by the Tea Parties, Rush, Ted Cruz, FOX News, NRA members, Sean Hannity, Sarah Palin, the U.S. Constitution, the American flag and the Bible. Try to keep one or more handy at all times.
• Like movie zombies, the liberal walking dead are easily distracted: “Look, there’s Eleanor Roosevelt!”
• Don’t try to convert zombies. You can’t reason with creatures who are brain-dead. When you see them run – fast and far. Do try to keep others from becoming people-eaters.
Read the whole piece HERE It’s a good one – and cleverly describes vast hoards of Democrat voters.
Punishing the Peasants
It’s becoming painfully apparent – the longer this government shutdown continues, the more vindictive the O’Ministration gets. Breitbart has a regularly updated list of the latest “closings” HERE.
One of the more egregious sanctions has been this: Shutdown forces owners to leave Lake Mead homes. An estimated 60 families have vacation homes which sit on federal land along the lake. They were all…
…given notice by the National Park Service earlier this week to gather their stuff and leave, according to Christie Vanover, a spokeswoman for the Lake Mead Recreational Area[…]
Although Vanover couldn’t put an exact number on how many residents were actually living in their vacation homes at the time of the government’s closure, she wanted to make one thing clear: “They are all vacation homes and everybody who lives in them are considered visitors,” she said.
“If anybody needs to gather their personal belongings, we’re not going to deny them access. They can go do that. They just can’t spend the nights there or have barbecues during the day.
“They need to get in and get out.” 😯
I love this owner’s reaction to the fed’s despotic behavior ~
“I wouldn’t call it a government shutdown,” said (Bob) Hitchcock, 71, a retired zone manager for 7-Eleven. “I’d call it a government meltdown.
If my kids ever acted like these politicians are acting — it’s probably not politically correct to say this anymore — but I’d beat the crap out of them, then send them to their rooms.”
Don’t we wish?!
Seriously, are there NO adults left in Washington D.C. who can deal with the president’s temper tantrums?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Earlier this year the Obama administration put an end to the White House Tours as retribution for Congress’s failure to end sequestration. Remember this?

The White House has repeatedly insisted that cancelling the tours (beginning March 9) was unavoidable as the administration seeks to implement mandatory budget cuts. “We very much regret having to take this action, particularly during the popular Spring touring season,” the White House said in an e-mail to congressional staff earlier this week.

Well, guess what? This building belongs to We-the-People – not to its current occupant. The Obama family are only temporary residents at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. And considering the millions they’ve been squandering on one trip after another they’ve pretty much been on one long tax-payer funded vacation.

Furthermore, the White House sits on federal land. So why, in the midst of our current government shutdown crisis, is it still open?

Time to shut it down – and send POTUS, MOTUS & daughters back to Chicago for the duration! And…

“If anybody needs to gather their personal belongings, we’re not going to deny them access. They can go do that. They just can’t spend the nights there or have barbecues during the day. They need to get in and get out.”
