The Consequences of Truth Erosion

Michael Voris is specifically addressing the truth erosion in the Catholic church in this recent video, but most of what he’s saying applies to all the mainline protestant denominations as well. Church leaders across the Christian spectrum have abdicated their responsibilities when it comes to teaching the Truth. Many are indeed “living a lie,” yet bewildered by their dwindling membership.

I know Voris would disagree with me on the definition of the one truth faith (I’m a Lutheran), but in these dark days for Christendom, those who embrace scriptural truth first and foremost have more in common with their brothers and sisters on the other side of the denominational aisle than they do with their liberal associates in the same pew.

The following wisdom from Benjamin Rush, one of my favorite founding fathers, seems particularly applicable to our contemporary church crisis ~

founders-quote-B-Rush“It would seem as if one of the designs of Providence in permitting the existence of so many sects [denominations] of Christians was that each sect might be a depository of some great truth of the Gospel, and that it might by that means be better preserved [..]

“[T]he division of Christians into sects is as necessary to the existence and preservation of Christianity as the division of mankind into nations, and of nations into separate families, are necessary to promote general and private happiness.”

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem

gazarocketsThe U.S. mainstream media is barely mentioning the fact that Hamas has been lobbing rockets into Israel for the better part of the day. Firing the missiles from Gaza, the terrorists have been targeting not just southern Israel, but cities as far away as Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

We here in America have absolutely no reference point to relate to what it feels like to be jarred out of your daily routine as air-raid sirens start screeching. To drop everything you’re doing and head to the nearest bomb shelter. To suddenly be faced with the thought of your own mortality.

Here’s a taste of that reality (from Aussie Dave at IsraellyCool) ~

This Was Our Day. How Was Yours?

Things here in Israel have been a bit hectic, with over 100 rockets being fired at us since last night. Rockets hit Jerusalem (population approx 800,000) and Hadera (population approx 100,000), with others being shot down over Tel Aviv (population over 400,000) and other Israeli cities.

Israel has called up 40,000 reserves, and has hit terror sites in Gaza. And as Brian posted earlier, we vaporized five terrorists who landed on Israeli shores on a mission to murder.

Thanks to the Iron Dome and our bomb shelters, no-one has been significantly injured or killed.

On a personal note, I found myself in the hospital with my wife this evening, due to her spiking a fever. Given her precarious, post-chemo health situation, I had to take her to the emergency room. As she was being tended to by a nurse, the Code Red alert went off. Since we were already on a ‘safe’ floor of the hospital, we did not need to run off to a shelter.

But as the alert sounded, we looked at each other and with horror in our eyes, we both uttered the name of the city in which we live, and where our 3 of our 5 children were being looked after by our live-in help (a necessity for us due to my wife’s health situation). The nurse – who also happens to be from our city – got on the phone and confirmed that the Code Red had gone off there as well!

We frantically called our live-in’s cell phone, but no answer. So we called the home phone, and our 8-year-old son answered.

“Are you ok, Z?”

“Yes”

“You made it to the safe room?”

“Yes, me and B [our live-in] stayed down there. I am saying tehillim (Psalms)”

“What about E and H [our two youngest daughters]”

“They were in their beds”

“WHAT?! Please put B on the phone.”

It turns out that our live-in tried to wake up the two young girls during the siren, but they would not wake up, so she panicked and brought only my son down with her to the safe room. Thankfully, a rocket did not land in the vicinity of our our house.

I mention this story because when you read the news – especially if you live overseas – you might not really understand what we are going through. After all, no-one has been killed (so far).

And there are plenty of others who have their own stories to tell.

Like my close friend who was driving home from work, when he heard the siren go off. He got out of the car, hit the ground and watched as the Iron Dome shot the rocket out of the sky followed by a big boom.

This is not some apocalyptic movie. This is our current reality.

We are all being deliberately targeted by terrorists bent on our destruction.

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:
May they prosper who love you.

~ Psalm 122:6 ~

The King and His Leftists on the Court

In the wake of the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court decision, as Tom Trinko at the American Thinker so succinctly puts it in a piece titled “The New King George,” folks… we Americans are one lawyer away from losing our right to practice our religion.

leftieSupremes
Because, essentially, the four dissenting justices ~

… have said that employers have no religious freedom. If an employee wants something, then the employer must provide it despite the employer’s religious beliefs.

As Trinko explains the leftist position – so that even a drone can understand it ~

If you want to go fishing you can’t expect your company to provide you with a boat. Instead, you take part of your salary and buy a boat. The same applies if you want a bigger TV or to go to a football game. But somehow, if someone wants to enjoy themselves by having sex, liberals believe that their employer has to provide them with contraceptives.

No one has died from being celibate; contraception is not necessary healthcare.

The faulty logic of the leftie justices is fairly obvious ~

In their stampede to curtail inconvenient religious liberties in America, where “inconvenience” is defined as being out of step with liberal thinking, the liberal judges have “forgotten” some of their core beliefs — diversity and tolerance.

According to four Supreme Court justices, we can’t have a diversity of business benefit packages and we can’t tolerate any business that does not toe the liberal line on abortion […]

The rejection of true religious liberty by the four liberal Justices is the latest indication of the tyrannical roots of modern liberalism. Modern liberals believe that the full power of the state can, and should, be used to impose the practices liberals’ support on all people.

obamaCrownshimself-smlrWhich, as Trinko points out, sounds an awful lot like England’s monarch in the late 1700’s ~

In America today, we face a new imperial threat. While King George is long gone, a new set of oppressors that believe, as George did, in the top-down authority of the government and the lack of rights of individuals has grown so strong as to threaten the very basis of liberty in America.

Founding Wisdom [Flouted by the Foolish]

founders-quote-B-RushI fear all our attempts to produce political happiness by the solitary influence of human reason will be as fruitless as the search for the philosopher’s stone. It seems to be reserved to Christianity alone to produce universal, moral, political, and physical happiness.

Reason produces, it is true, great and popular truths, but it affords motives too feeble to induce mankind to act agreeably to them. Christianity unfolds the same truths and accompanies them with motives, agreeable, powerful, and irresistible.

I anticipate nothing but suffering to the human race while the present systems of paganism, deism, and atheism prevail in the world. New England may escape the storm which impends our globe, but, if she does, it will only be by adhering to the religious principles and moral habits of the first settlers of that country.

Saturday Shorts – 7-5-14

ss6-30-12

Random links of interest, concern or curiosity from the past week or so, that deserve at least a SHORT mention:

FIRST KIDS: Where Are They Now? ~ Updates on the offspring of past (and current) presidents from Kennedy to Obama.

Burger King: “Be Your Way” Jumping on the LGBT bandwagon, the fast food chain proudly announces their new slogan ~

While the tagline is vapidly vague, the rainbow wrapper (on the new “Proud Whopper”) makes it clear. It’s less about “individuality” and “promoting self-expression” and more about promoting the only way the tolerance mob says we’re allowed to be: like them.

New Archaeopteryx Fossil Grounds Evolutionary Ideas About Flight ~ Uh-oh, Darwinism takes another hit. Never fear though, its dauntless defenders just grow ever more creative; tying themselves in knots as they attempt to fit the latest discovery into an old worn–out theory that should have been abandoned long ago.

What Does the Left Think the Supreme Court Is? ~ Hobby Lobby exposes mass incomprehension of the role of courts in a constitutional republic.
Are Lefties just woefully ignorant, or are they being deliberately obtuse? Either way, they’re having a highly corrosive effect on the rule of law ~

Yesterday’s decision was of extraordinary import to those few Americans whose most precious beliefs are being prodded at by a Leviathan that does not know when to barge in unannounced, when to politely knock, and when to leave well alone. But of infinitely broader consequence was the casual manner in which the rule of law was relegated to an irrelevance in the widespread reaction to the ruling. Laws that can be held to mean anything will end up meaning nothing; laws that mean nothing are of no use at all. And those who sit indifferently in the middle, hoping to extract quick wins from a system that they abhor, will soon bring the walls tumbling down — not just on their antagonists, but on themselves, too.

Hobby Lobby Raises Minimum Wage to $14: What Happens When Govt Doesn’t Tie Businesses’ Hands ~ While leftists were busy hating on Hobby Lobby they totally ignored this story. It doesn’t fit their evil Christian business-owner narrative.

Hobby Lobby teaches a lesson to all Christians, not just business owners. Standing your ground on biblical principles is more important, but it is equally important is letting “your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).

4 Sins That Are Also Okay If You Ignore Leviticus on Homosexuality ~ Once the pseudo-Christian crowd is through cherry-picking their way through the Bible they may as well chuck the entire book; they’re missing the whole point ~

There is a law of liberty, where we are freed from fearful rule-following and liberated to love and please a holy God. But we don’t get to live that way by editing God’s standards; we get that way by repenting of our sins and letting God empower us to live for Him. True freedom—obeying God’s laws willfully instead of spitefully—only come once we’ve changed our minds about our sin and trusted Christ’s sacrifice to pay our punishment.

Where’s the Tolerance – Black FL GOP House Congressional Candidate Glo Smith Campaign Signs Vandalized ~ Deneen Borelli (Fox News) reports on the rarely mentioned hostility that black conservatives face from the Left ~

As a high profile black conservative, I’m very familiar with this type of intimidation tactics. Because of my political views, I’m constantly attacked and criticized through social media with comments claiming “You want to be white” and “You should dye your hair blond.” I’ve also been called “Auntie Tom,” “Aunt Jemima” and numerous other names not appropriate for posting.

Reading Is Islamophobic ~ Yes, unfortunately after extensive analysis, David Wood at Answering Muslims has been forced to this conclusion. A satrical look (video) at the religion of peace.

Remember when we had a REAL American President?

Now that we’ve established that Barack Hussein Obama is NOT one of us, let’s hear from a president who actually WAS ~

As you can plainly observe, Ronald Reagan really was a Christian. He didn’t just pretend to be be one to get elected. And he understood that America was founded on biblical principles ~

“Now I realize it’s fashionable in some circles to believe that no one in government should encourage others to read the Bible. That we’re told that will violate the constitutional separation of church and state established by the founding fathers in the First Amendment. The First Amendment was not written to protect people and their laws from religious values. It was written to protect those values from government tyranny.” ~ Ronald Reagan

Doesn’t matter what the birth certificate says…

Barack Hussein Obama clearly isn’t one of us ~

A Nation is a family. And those that swear an oath to defend that nation form a tighter family — one that depends on the loyalty of each member to protect their very lives. In his latest FIREWALL, Bill Whittle discusses the cultural disconnect not only of Bowe Bergdahl, but of the people who traded five deadly terrorists for his return.

Banning Free Speech in Oz (Episode II)

“In times of universal deceit, telling the truth will be a revolutionary act.”
~ George Orwell ~

Censorship in Australia really has hit Orwellian proportions when you can no longer speak the truth – at least when the subject is Muhammad (may peace be upon him – NOT) ~

Sydney talkback radio host Michael Smith has been told he will no longer be filling in on 2GB after making controversial comments about the Prophet Mohammed.

Source: ABC News-Australia

Commenting on a recent incident in Australia involving a Muslim activist ~

Smith said the founder of Islam was “a man who promoted the idea that it was OK to marry a six-year-old and consummate the marriage when the little girl was nine”.

Oops. Can’t say that. Even though, as Atlas Shrugs points out, it’s 100% historically accurate ~

The fact is that what this radio personality said about Muhammad was true. Muhammad did marry Aisha at six and consummate the marriage at nine. But telling the truth about Islam and Muhammad violates the sharia. Not only was he fired, but his remarks were followed by the attendant death threats by Muslims. Of course. Islamic supremacists say whatever they want. But you can’t.

Radical Islam is currently an existential threat to Christians in the Middle East – and ultimately to the West itself. Yet not only will the West not defend themselves, they won’t even speak the name of the enemy. This self-censorship is cultural suicide.

Reality continues to intrude on the pseudo-science of climate alarmists

A couple recent stories bolster the case against the climate alarmist movement.

Wind Turbines take terrible toll on animals ~

windfarm-uglyNot only are they an ugly assault on rural landscapes, windmills are proving to be seriously unhealthy for animals – and other carbon-based life forms. Dr. Ileana Johnson Paugh at Canada Free Press reports on a mink farmer in Denmark who observed bizarre animal behaviors and a five-fold increase in miscarriages and fetal deformities after a nearby wind farm began operation ~

You could argue that we are not mink and should not worry that low-frequency vibrations created by wind turbines are harmful to humans. After all, green energy proponents keep reassuring us that wind and solar energy is harmless to the planet and to adjacent populations. When animals such as minks, cattle, sheep, goats, and horses, exposed to wind turbines 24/7, become aggressive, die en masse, abort their fetuses, some with developmental malformations, and attack their young, it is time to ask ourselves, what are wind turbines doing to the human body? The “wind turbine syndrome” is not just hypochondria as the wind industry and the environmental lobby explained.

Animal health issues have been reported world-wide including birth defects, and strange behaviors – even death – due to sleep deprivation. Humans aren’t faring much better ~

The low-frequency sound and the constant thump-thump have caused some people to abandon their homes located in the vicinity of wind farms. Health issues such as sleep disturbance, sleep deprivation, dizziness, tinnitus, and constant headaches in humans have been ignored by the main stream media who is eager to promote “clean” solar and wind energy generation.

We should view these problems as the proverbial canary in the coal mine – and dismantle the wind farms!

NYT: Scientists ‘Startled’ at Great Lakes’ Rise; Another Warmist Prediction Is Biting the Dust ~

If they scare the sheeple enough, the “settled science” crowd figures we’ll panic and buy what they’re selling (essentially, a return to the horse & buggy days), so they’re forever forecasting climate disasters right around the corner. One of the latest “threats from global warming” was that “Lake Erie water levels, already below average, could drop 4-5 feet by the end of this century, significantly altering shoreline habitat.” Gasp!

That hyperbolic prediction turns out to be just another faux alarm. (And this story is actually from the New York Times!) ~

… after reaching historic lows in 2013, water levels in the Great Lakes are now abruptly on the rise, a development that has startled scientists and thrilled just about everybody with a stake in the waterfront, including owners of beach houses, retailers in tourist areas and dockmasters who run marinas on the lakeshore.

greatlakes-satellite
Lakes Michigan, Huron and Superior are at least a foot higher than they were a year ago, and are expected to rise three more inches over the next month. Lake Ontario and Lake Erie are seven to nine inches higher than a year ago.

… Scientists say the reversal of fortunes for the lakes is partly a result of the most bone-chilling winter in memory for many Midwesterners. The thick and long-lasting ice cover on the lakes kept the water colder and slowed evaporation. Heavy snowfall and a rainy spring allowed the lakes to make even more gains.

Instead of issuing hysterical doomsday prophecies, wouldn’t it be nice if the alarmists would just settle down and wait for the weather to change?

Supremes affirm First Amendment rights (barely)

supremecourt-angel

In a 5:4 decision the Supreme Court Rules Obama Admin Can’t Make Hobby Lobby Obey Pro-Abortion HHS Mandate. It was down to the wire. On the last day before they break for summer vacation SCOTUS finally handed down a ruling in Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. ~

Writing for the 5-4 majority, Justice Samuel Alito handed down the decision for the high court, saying, “The Supreme Court holds government can’t require closely held corporations with religious owners to provide contraception coverage.”

Hobby Lobby’s founder had this to say last year after SCOTUS agreed to take the case ~

“My family and I are encouraged that the U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to decide our case,” said Mr. Green, Hobby Lobby’s founder and CEO. “This legal challenge has always remained about one thing and one thing only: the right of our family businesses to live out our sincere and deeply held religious convictions as guaranteed by the law and the Constitution. Business owners should not have to choose between violating their faith and violating the law.”

The final tally at five justices to four was close – but it’s a win. We’ll take it.
