The town’s population of 60,000 has swelled to 400,000 in recent months as refugees – mainly Turkmen and Kurds – poured in to escape fighting elsewhere. Refugees who have fled to Kobani have recounted seeing their villages burned and their neighbors beheaded.

Fleeing ISIS, leaving behind everything, tens of thousands of Syrians are essentially running for their lives into Turkey. National Geographic contributing photographer John Stanmeyer, who has his own boots on the ground – so to speak – in Turkey, reports on the growing crisis that ISIS has created in Syria ~

At least 66,000 Syrian Kurds streamed into Turkey on Saturday (Sept. 20, 2014), fleeing the latest advances of the Islamic State—the violent Sunni group that has declared a caliphate in parts of Syria and Iraq—as it moved further north in a bid to extend territorial control. The militants’ onslaught left as many as 40 towns and villages in northern Syria, including the border city of Ayn al-Arab, called Kobani in Kurdish, virtually empty, as thousands of men, women and children sought safety.

Judging by this heart-wrenching picture, these refugees aren’t poor, already dispossessed people. They’re middle class Syrians who up until last week were living normal lives; going to work and school every day, sleeping in beds, eating regular meals, raising their families. But now – the ISIS barbarians have decided they don’t get to do any of those things anymore. Just imagine not knowing what you’re going to eat for dinner, or where you’re going to spend the night, much less where you’ll be next week, next month… They’re lives have been turned upside down by these sub-human terrorists.

The situation is epic — 130,000 fellow human beings leaving everything behind seeking safety. The work that I’ve done for over 25 years across the globe has always been that of the human condition. What we are witnessing is a humanitarian crisis combined with a huge responsibility for Turkey. I hope as a collective humanity we can do our best to realize that these people leaving everything behind could be anyone of us.

For now these Syrians are being assisted mainly by their Kurdish brethren in Turkey:

As Turkish Kurds have responded to their ethnic brothers and sisters in Syria, friction has heated up between the Kurdistan Workers Party and Turkish security forces, who used tear gas and water cannons against them in several clashes.
 
The number of Syrian refugees now in Turkey since the beginning of the conflict is approaching 1.6 million, according to the Turkish government.

How safe the Syrian Kurds will be in Turkey only time will tell.
Unfortunately for these refugees – and for western interests in general – Turkey, previously a secular Muslim country, is becoming much more hardline Islamic. In fact there’s credible evidence that the country actually helped incubate this new terrorist “state” as Gatestone Institute explains ~ Turkey’s Frankenstein Monster ~

In reality, Ankara slowly made Turkey’s southeast a hub for every color of radical Islamist militant arriving from dozens of different countries, including thousands from Europe. The militants would cross the border into Syria, fight al-Assad’s forces, go back to Turkey, get medical treatment there if necessary, replenish their weapons and ammunition and go back to fight again. In an audio recording leaked on the internet in March, Turkey’s top intelligence officer admits that, “Turkey has so far sent 2,000 trucks full of weapons and ammunition into Syria.”
 
Last June, Turkey’s own Frankenstein monster, who went by the name of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria [ISIS] — later reflagged as “The Islamic State” [IS] — appeared at its old master’s doors. IS attacked the Turkish consulate compound in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, after having captured large swathes of Syrian and Iraqi territory. It also took 49 Turks, including the consul general, hostage.

 
ISIS has since released those hostages. But Turkey is still a huge wild card in what’s turning into a horribly confusing game of crazy Muslims.
 
Unlike the illegal influx on our southern border (engineered by our own federal government to permanently erode America’s national sovereignty) this mass Syrian exodus is truly a humanitarian crisis.
 
 
When I snuggle down in my nice comfy bed tonight, I’ll be thanking God for the incredible blessings in my life, especially the simple things that we all take for granted – and remembering the Syrian Kurds in my prayers.

Did you happen to catch this headline last week “Australia raids foil reported ISIS beheading plots”?
I mean, considering all the critically important stories on the NFL-players-behaving-badly front, it’s sometimes tough to find your way through to any actual news these days. But this was pretty scary stuff ~

The Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported that the plan involved kidnapping randomly selected members of the public off the streets in Sydney and Brisbane, beheading them on camera, and releasing the recordings through Islamic State’s propaganda arm in the Middle East.

These barbarians are sure getting creative aren’t they?

Australian counterterrorism forces detained 15 people Thursday in a series of suburban raids after receiving intelligence that the Islamic State militant group was planning public beheadings in two Australian cities to demonstrate its reach.
 
 
About 800 federal and state police officers raided more than a dozen properties across 12 Sydney suburbs as part of the operation — the largest in Australian history, Australian Federal Police Deputy Commissioner Andrew Colvin told the Associated Press. A sword was removed as part of evidence at one of the homes.

 
Now of course, no sooner had the terrorists been apprehended when the Aussie branch of the religion-of-perpetual-outrage when into full protest mode: Muslims protest against Australia terror raids: “There is anger in the community. We have been victimised for years and years.”
 
 
These “victims” seem to represent the Islamic version of Orwell’s “1984” ~ freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength, terrorism is persecution.
 

Interestingly enough, even while Australia was moving against their merry band of head-choppers, here in the U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz was trying to prevent the same sort of plot from materializing in this country ~

Sen. Ted Cruz tried to get the Senate to consider a measure Thursday providing that any American who joins the fight with terrorist groups such as the Islamic State would immediately renounce their U.S. citizenship, but a Democratic senator objected, saying more time is necessary to weigh the significant constitutional issues it raises.

Can we no longer call treason “treason” anymore? Apparently the Democrats can’t ~

“It is unfortunate that Democratic senators chose to object to this to prevent this common-sense change in law, and I would note when it comes to the constitutional concerns, I don’t know if anyone in this Senate has been more vigorous or more consistent in terms of defending the constitutional rights of Americans that I have endeavored to be during my short tenure here,” he said. “I will yield to no one in passion for defending constitutional liberties … it is current law right now that if you go and join a foreign nation and take up arms against America, that act has long been recognized as constituting a constructive renunciation of United States citizenship.”

The security of America is clearly secondary to politics with these poltroons, and Cruz wasn’t shy about letting them know it ~

“The question is very simple: would any reasonable person want an American who is right now in Iraq, who is right now training with ISIS, who is right now taking up arms, who is right now participating in crucifying Christians, who is right now beheading children, who [has] right now participated in beheading two American journalists, who is right now standing arm-in-arm with virulent terrorists who have pledged to take jihad to America — would anyone of good conscience in either party want that person to be able to come back and land in LaGuardia airport with a U.S. passport and walk unmolested onto our streets?” he said.
 

“The obvious answer is no, and it saddens me that we could not see Republicans and Democrats come together,” he continued. “It saddens me that in an election year the Democratic senators up for election chose to block this common-sense legislation, rather than to work together to protect the American citizens. I hope in time we see less election-year politics and more service to the men and women who all of us are obliged to protect.”

Incredibly, at the same time that the Senate was declining to protect we-the-law-abiding-citizens from crazed Islamist converts – this lunacy was going on: ISIS Calls For Radicalized Americans To Go To Homes Of U.S. Soldiers, ‘Slaughter Them’!

According to Fox News, one British jihadist “encouraged radicals still living in the West to use Facebook and Linkedln to find and target soldiers.” The jihadist tweeted: “You could literally search for soldiers, find their town, photos of them, look for addresses in Yellowbook or something. Then show up and slaughter them.”

 
And oh, by the way –

… according to Mail Online, intelligence agencies believe “these threats will only increase should the U.S. or its allies attack…ISIS in Syria or Iraq.”

 
When these ISIS animals bring their barbaric ways to American shores, don’t forget which party flatly refused to take the threat seriously!
