Dictators of a feather – Obama cozies up to Communist Cuba

2commiesLast Friday Barack Obama and his new B.F.F. Raul Castro made a joint press appearance at the Summit of the Americas. It seems President-for-life, Castro was quite pleased with his fellow tyrant ~

“I think that what President Obama has just said, it’s practically the same as we feel about the topics, including human rights, freedom of the press.”

That’s comforting isn’t it? They certainly seem to have a shared aversion to Christians. (Obama’s was on display last week.) In Cuba, late last year ~

On 20 December, six members of an inter-denominational protestant group were beaten and imprisoned for nine hours in a windowless cell with no ventilation or light after attempting to carry out open air evangelism in the city of Bayamo.

A few days later, on 22 December, 60 women affiliated with the Ladies in White movement were arrested in the early hours of the morning and held in prisons, police patrol cars and police stations across the country to prevent them from attending Sunday morning Mass.

(Of course communists never have been big on Feliz Navidad – or any other aspect of Christianity.)

The thing is, despite Obama’s attempt to delude the drones, Raul Castro has already affirmed that Cuba will not abandon communism. Just last December ~

Castro’s speech to Cuba’s National Assembly was a sharp counterpoint to the message U.S. President Barack Obama gave in his year-end news conference the day before. Obama reiterated that by engaging directly with the Cuban people, Americans are more likely to encourage reform in Cuba’s one-party system and centrally planned economy.

cuba-map

“We must not expect that in order for relations with the United States to improve, Cuba will abandon the ideas that it has struggled for,” Castro said.

Translation: We have no intention of loosening the reins of totalitarianism.

As CNS News explains, our own state department’s documents officially acknowledge that Castro’s government is an autocracy with little regard for human rights ~

“Cuba is an authoritarian state led by Raul Castro, who is president of the council of state and council of ministers, Communist Party (CP) first secretary, and commander in chief of security forces,” said the State Department Country Report on human rights in Cuba for 2013, which was published in 2014, and is the latest available.

Although other political parties are permitted to exist, they’re irrelevant; only the Communist Party of Cuba is actually allowed to rule the island paradise.

“The constitution provides for freedom of speech and press only insofar as it ‘conforms to the aims of socialist society,’” said the State Department report. “Laws banning criticism of government leaders and distribution of antigovernment propaganda carry penalties ranging from three months’ to 15 years’ imprisonment.”

As recently as January 2013,

“The government did not respect freedom of speech and press, severely restricted internet access and maintained a monopoly on media outlets, circumscribed academic freedom, and maintained significant restrictions on the ability of religious groups to meet and worship,” said the State Department report.

Unfortunately, thanks to mainstream media malpractice, far too many Americans are clueless about the Cuban regime. In Panama last weekend ~

Obama declared that “There is majority support of our policy in the United States” and that “the American people don’t need to be persuaded that this is in fact the right thing to do.”

A new poll commissioned by my American Enterprise Institute colleague Roger Noriega for InterAmerican Security Watch finds that Americans do support Obama’s plan by a margin of 51 to 38 percent . . . until they learn some basic facts about Cuba.

For example, when they realize that Cuba…

• is hosting Russian ships in its harbors;
• has attempted to smuggle 240 tons of weaponry to North Korea;
• is harboring a cop-killer (murdered a NJ state trooper) and terrorists;

… Support for Obama’s sneaky plans for normalizing relations with the Communists drops below 20%.

cuba-Che
The truth: Cuba is in fact a state sponsor of terror.

There’s a reason 10 presidents of both parties kept Cuba’s Castros on America’s bad-guys’ list for more than 50 years. Each leader understood a basic truth: Totalitarian Cuba is a sworn enemy of the U.S., a violent threat to the Western Hemisphere’s peace and prosperity and an ally of our worst enemies — including the former USSR.

Global Repercussions

Restoring diplomatic relations with Communist Cuba only encourages every other evil dictator on the planet to indulge their imperialistic aspirations ~ Obama’s Move to Strengthen Cuba Will Also Help Russia, Iran, North Korea and Venezuela ~

In recent years, Cuba has aligned itself militarily with an international rogues’ gallery: Venezuela, of course, but also Russia, Iran and North Korea […]

So, by propping up Castro’s regime in Cuba, Obama can indirectly benefit all of America’s major adversaries, providing them with a more economically robust trading partner, a better source of illicit arms, and, most important, naval bases and intelligence outposts just miles from our shores. I think it is fair to say that for all past American presidents, even the Democrats, the prospect of aiding such bitter enemies of the United States would have rendered propping up Castro’s regime unthinkable.

Source: John Hinderaker at Powerline Blog

Proving this point, no sooner did Obama start to thaw relations with Cuba when Russia announced Monday (4-13-15) that ~

… it will sell Iran advanced S-300 surface-to-air missiles. The decision, which ends an embargo dating back to 2010, shows that President Barack Obama is rapidly losing control of the international consensus on Iran […]

Effectively, then, Putin is calling the world’s bluff. He is setting a deadline for Israel to make a fateful choice, and daring the Obama administration to intervene.

It’s not just that Obama is re-aligning the United States with all the wrong tyrants – he’s destabilizing the entire globe –

What are American guarantees and promises worth if a fifty-year-old policy followed by Democrats like Johnson, Carter, and Clinton can be discarded overnight? In more than a few chanceries the question that will be asked as this year ends is “who is next to find that America is today more interested in propitiating its enemies than in protecting its allies?”

Thank God John F. Kennedy was president of the United States in 1962. Even though he was a Democrat – he was an American first.

Did anyone who was around back then ever believe the country would survive five more decades – only to see a communist like Barack Hussein Obama in the White House?!

Barack’s not feelin’ the love?

Sounding more like the Pharisees Jesus used to expose for their hypocrisy, than the Christian he professes to be, Barack Obama chose the occasion of an Easter Breakfast on Tuesday to criticize the “less than loving” behavior of some fellow Christians.

In a veiled reference to those in Indiana and Arkansas fighting for a right they thought was already granted to them in the Constitution, the president expressed “concern.” By implication, he judges a Christian baker as “unloving” for not wanting to endorse sinful behavior ~

“On Easter, I do reflect on the fact that as a Christian, I am supposed to love. And I have to say that sometimes when I listen to less than loving expressions by Christians, I get concerned,” he quipped, smiling as laughter and applause rang out from the crowd.

Painful as it may be, the arrogant, lecturing tone in his voice is much easier to detect by actually listening to him speak ~

Steven Crowder weighed in on the president’s sanctimonious rhetoric ~

This is an example of compulsive anti-Christian behavior. One has to ask themselves, if he feels the need to condemn Christians within this context, how do you think he speaks of them behind closed doors? When there are none around? Perhaps when he’s surrounded by world-leaders who would like nothing more than to see us exterminated. Do you think he’ll all of a sudden decide to grow a pair and stand arm-in arm with his Christian brethren? Or maybe, just maybe, his true colors really get to shine […]

Let me summarize this: This president not only goes against Christian principles on a regular basis with his policy, not only is the only man in the history of our country to support infanticide to the level that he has, not only has turned his back on Christians’ greatest ally in Israel, not only has buddied up with and bowed to, leaders of rabidly anti-Christian nations… but President Obama even felt compelled to take a jab at Christians, at a prayer breakfast, on Easter.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During his remarks on Tuesday,
… the president thanked the pastors and Christian leaders from different Christian traditions across the nation for their prayers because he says he needs them, especially now.
Yes. Let us all continue to pray daily… for his conversion; so that religious freedom, for which so many courageous Americans fought, sacrificed and died for, will not be denied future generations.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

founders-quote-NWebsterIn my view, the Christian religion is the most important and one of the first things in which all children, under a free government ought to be instructed… No truth is more evident to my mind that the Christian religion must be the basis of any government intended to secure the rights and privileges of a free people.
~ Noah Webster [Preface to his American Dictionary of the English Language, 1828]

The Gaystapo Inquisition

What happens if we won’t convert?

In a futile attempt to discredit Christianity, atheist activists will often reach way back into the dustbin of history and drag out the Spanish Inquisition. They want us to believe that an event which occurred more than five centuries ago justifies a total dismissal of the faith. What they conveniently ignore is the fact that Spain’s persecution of Muslims and Jews in the 1400’s had absolutely no basis in scripture.

spanishinquisition
The Spanish Inquisition was primarily a push to eradicate all remnants of sympathy with the Moorish (Muslim) dominance in Spain and to re-establish Christianity in that nation. (Yes, Muslims had invaded and conquered most of southern Spain centuries earlier.)

Non-Christians, particularly Muslims but also adherents to other religions, such as Judaism, were given the choice to leave the nation or convert to Christianity.

Sounds a lot like a contemporary religion-which-must-not-be-named doesn’t it? 😈 But this coercion at the point of a sword finds no legitimacy anywhere in the Bible, particularly in the New Testament. Jesus’ admonition about how we are to interact with others – even enemies – was unequivocal ~

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor[a] and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven” ~ Matthew 5:43-45

So clearly, the aggressive accept-our-belief-system-or-else approach is not a true Christian means of conversion. It does however seem to be the new preferred method of our friends on the Left doesn’t it? Especially those in the LGBTQ-whatever movement (It seems to constantly evolve).

gaygagAfter witnessing the unhinged attacks on Indiana’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) last week, is there any doubt we’re seeing the early stages of a Gaystapo Inquistion? Oh, no one’s been tortured yet. But businesses have been forced to close; taking away an individual’s ability to support a family. Why? For refusing to compromise their religious convictions and participate in an event they believe is sinful.

Others have been slandered, boycotted, some have even received death threats. For doing nothing but believing in, and following, God’s law. The very same law, by the way, that is foundational to the Constitution, and our entire legal system.

Discussing the irrationality of homosexual marriage from the perspective of the First Amendment Stephen M. Krason at Crisis Magazine explains,

In truth, it’s preposterous to claim that facilitating sodomy is a compelling public interest that overpowers the right to religious liberty. At bottom, requiring Christians and other unwilling religious believers to take part in same-sex “marriages” means that they are being forced to give social approval to the state’s action of officially recognizing immoral sexual activity.

Further, describing religious freedom from the perspective of a hypothetical baker, here’s Bill Kassel at American Thinker ~

The sinfulness of homosexual acts is a fundamental teaching of the religious body to which (the baker) has attached himself, which makes it something more than an individual moral whim (or personal prejudice). And in any event, the baker is perfectly entitled to make such a value judgment, just as he’s perfectly free to attach himself to the religion of his choice. The Constitution guarantees him those freedoms.

Employing the law to compel his complicity in someone else’s sinful behavior — as he and his church define it — does not advance rights. It advances tyranny.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
At the extreme edge of intolerance these days is the rabid Islamist evil spreading at the point of the sword throughout the Middle East and North Africa. As al-Shabab so graphically displayed to the civilized world last week, when you fail to adhere to their Islamic faith you’re shot in the back of the head (final body count from the Moi University massacre in Kenya = 148).
The bloodthirsty, 21st century Jihad we’re witnessing today makes the Spanish Inquisition look downright humane (realistic estimates put the total number of Inquisition executions around 2000). Accept their totalitarian Islamic worldview – or die.
Which brings us back to the totalitarian view of the radical gay movement. We’ve gone from being required to “tolerate,” then “accept,” and now to openly approve of – and even celebrate – their lifestyle. No freedom of expression (speech, religion, press, association) should be granted to anyone who disagrees with them.
Where did their malicious intolerance come from?
inquistion-therack
Sample the hate that has been spewed at the state of Indiana in the past week, and faithful Christians in recent years, by gay activists and their allies. We are “bigots,” “Neanderthals” and “haters,” whose views must be ritually rejected by anyone hoping to keep a job in today’s America — even in a Catholic high school. Where will this end? Is there a logical stopping point for this aggression, where Christians are left in peace? […]
It’s stunning how quickly the demands of gay activists went from libertarian (“Don’t arrest us for sodomy”) to totalitarian (“Take part in our weddings or we’ll destroy your livelihoods.”)
Source: Gay Totalitarianism and the Coming Persecution of Christians
For now Christians are being told – by their own government(!) – that they must genuflect to the homosexual agenda, or lose their college scholarship, their job or even their business. What’s next?
“You will conform to the (continually-evolving) progressive worldview of sexual immorality or lose your… life?”
Obama’s hot air won’t affect the climate no matter how hard he blows
(Like that double entendre? 😀 )
globalwrmghost-smlrIt really is audacious! When it comes to man-made climate change, the president just keeps doubling down on the deceit: Obama says climate change is harming Americans’ health ~
Obama said hazards of the changing climate include wildfires sending more pollution into the air, allergy seasons growing longer and rising cases of insect-borne diseases.
“We’ve got to do better in protecting our vulnerable families,” Obama said, adding that, ultimately, all families are affected.
Facts are simply irrelevant, especially when the mainstream media refuses to report them. But – at least until Net Neutrality kicks in and all dissent has been scoured from the web – the truth is still out there. Here are just a few recent stories ~
New Climate Paper Gives Global Warming Alarmists ‘One Helluva Beating’ ~
A new scientific paper has driven yet another nail into the coffin of Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming theory.
(The paper) finds that the effects of aerosols on climate are much smaller than those in almost all the computer models used by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
Gulf Stream Not Slowing Down, Not Going to Freeze us to Death, Shock ~ Which do we trust: the climate models? Or reality? Hmmm…
Even Dr. Patrick Moore, scientist and co-founder of Greenpeace (!) explains “Why I am a Climate Change Skeptic” ~
I am skeptical humans are the main cause of climate change and that it will be catastrophic in the near future. There is no scientific proof of this hypothesis, yet we are told “the debate is over” and “the science is settled.” […]
My skepticism begins with the believers’ certainty they can predict the global climate with a computer model. The entire basis for the doomsday climate change scenario is the hypothesis increased atmospheric carbon dioxide due to fossil fuel emissions will heat the Earth to unlivable temperatures. […]
ipccMindTrick
Recently, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) announced for the umpteenth time we are doomed unless we reduce carbon-dioxide emissions to zero. Effectively this means either reducing the population to zero, or going back 10,000 years before humans began clearing forests for agriculture. This proposed cure is far worse than adapting to a warmer world, if it actually comes about.
All Obama and the climate alarmists feed us are lies, lies and mores lies – every single one of them designed to grow government and control every aspect of our lives.
The most important thing to understand about the issue is that all the predictions of doom and gloom are based on climate modeling. And all the climate modeling is based on flawed and cherry-picked data.
As presidential candidate Ted Cruz brilliantly explains to this intently clueless fellow: “Follow the data. Follow the science.”
As informed and articulate as Senator Cruz is on this subject, you can bet the MSM won’t make the mistake of asking him about it very often during the campaign. They’ll just paint him as a “denier” without allowing him to defend himself. (I’m saving this video for future rebuttal!)
“Happy Easter” from the ISIS Barbarians
Not content with murdering, kidnapping, raping and driving Christians out of their homes, the Religion-of-Death-and-Destruction is determined to eliminate every vestige of Christianity from the Middle East ~
As Assyrian Christians were celebrating Easter Sunday, militants from the Islamic State blew up the 80-year-old church of the Virgin Mary in Tal Nasri village in the western countryside of Hasaka province, in northeastern Syria.
syria-turkey-virginMaryChur
The Church of the Virgin Mary was originally built in 1934 and is one of three main churches in the Assyrian village of Tal Nasri, which is located to the south of Tal Tamr town that was earlier overrun by ISIS.
According to the Assyrian International News Agency (AINA), the church has been “leveled” […]
In February, Islamist militants burned down the historic church of Tal Hurmoz, one of the oldest churches in Syria, and destroyed three other churches in the town of Tal Tamer in Hasaka province.
Open Doors has the latest on Syrian Christians fleeing ISIS ~
A brutal Islamic State offensive that begun in late February against Syria’s dwindling Assyrian Christian population is accelerating, forcing a steady stream of Christian refugees to undertake a desperate flight to the relative safety of Turkey, northern Iraq and Lebanon […]
Christian refugees cannot flee Syria by conventional means since the Turkish border crossings are closed to all but commercial trucks and emergency medical vehicles. So the Assyrians are forced to pay smugglers to take them across the border… or risk traveling overland to Lebanon or northern Iraq, which requires crossing extremist checkpoints.
One Christian refugee who managed to escape Syria to Mardin by plane is a man who calls himself Gabriel. He was able to board a plane because he had a passport from his previous service in the Syrian military. Most residents of northern Syria are poor and do not have passports.
Gabriel’s city of Qamishli has been under siege from IS ever since the militants’ February attacks that emptied out a cluster of Assyrian Christian villages along the Khabour River. Now, more than a month later, some 220 or more Christian villagers who were kidnapped in the attacks are still being held hostage.
Whatever these hateful, 14th century throwbacks hope to accomplish, the ultimate victory belongs to our risen Lord and His Church ~
… I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. ~ Matthew 16:18
crossinhands
Father, what terrible hardship our fellow Christians in Syria have suffered. Indeed, the whole nation of Syria is in the midst of affliction. We lift them up to You today; that You might soon bring about peace. We pray for those who have fled to Turkey; that You would comfort and sustain them there. We give thanks for Joseph, Fr. Akyuz, and others caring for the refugees, and pray that You would continue to provide needed resources.
We pray for those who are looking for ways to flee to Turkey, northern Iraq and Lebanon; that You would grant opportunity and safe travels. And, we pray for Your hand of protection to guard those who remain in Syria; that You would sustain them with food and shelter. In the midst of the turmoil, we pray for the Holy Spirit to use Your Word to comfort and encourage those who mourn, strengthen those with struggles of faith, and bring life to those who live in spiritual darkness.
In the name of Jesus, our anchor of hope in this world of tumult, Amen.
The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre
on the Morning of the Resurrection
~ by Eugène Burnand
According to Elise Ehrhard it’s the Greatest Easter Painting Ever Made (Don’t you agree?) ~
The work does not even show the risen Jesus. It merely portrays two witnesses, Jesus’ oldest and youngest apostle. The youngest who was the only man brave enough to stay by Jesus’ cross and the only one who did not die a martyr’s death as a result of it. The oldest apostle who first denied Jesus in fear, yet ultimately chose to be crucified upside down by the Roman authorities rather than deny Christ’s resurrection.
In “The Disciples Peter and John Running to the Sepulchre on the Morning of the Resurrection” by Eugène Burnand, John clasps his hand in prayer while Peter holds his hand over his heart. The viewer feels the rush as their hair and cloaks fly back with the wind. They are sprinting towards discovery of the moment that forever altered heaven and earth.
Alleluia! He’s Alive!
