Catching up with some of my reading today, I just realized that yesterday, January 9th, was National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. Now I’m sure, like me, you’re asking yourself the obvious question – what did America’s chief law enforcement official do to commemorate the occasion?
 
Well, as far as I can tell – nada.
 
In view of the fact that Philadelphia police officer Jesse Hartnett was just ambushed by a crazy Muslim with a gun last Thursday – you’d think Barack Obama might have at last done the mature, responsible, presidential thing and offered a few words of appreciation for the brave men and women in uniform who are out there every day protecting us from the bad guys…
 
 
Fat chance. (He has yet to utter anything about Officer Hartnett’s shooting!)
 
Never mind. The man who should be president did it for him ~

Law enforcement forms a thin but powerful line protecting us not just from violent criminals, but from terrorists on our own soil. In the case of Garland, Texas, Islamic terrorists could have taken unknown numbers of lives if it were not for the brave traffic officer who stopped their attempted attack.
 
We must thank every officer for their service, not make excuses for the terrorists trying to kill them. Saturday is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD). It is an opportunity to stand emphatically with our police forces and to express our gratitude for their bravery, especially in a national climate that has been hostile towards our men and women in blue.

 
Ever since Obama’s flippant “the police acted stupidly” remark in the first year of his presidency, the man has been nothing but dismissive and disrespectful towards law enforcement officers.

…not only does President Obama refuse to call radical Islamic terrorism by its name, he has also perpetrated a national movement to vilify the very officers who keep our communities safe from this threat. He has nominated an individual to a top Department of Justice post who had represented and lionized a cop killer, and in 2015, he said, “There are some police who aren’t doing the right thing.” He continued, “We can’t just leave this to the police,” suggesting that he should stand as the judge and jury in convicting police officers.
 
President Obama’s cynicism is echoed by Democratic leaders. In New York, for example, Governor Andrew Cuomo appointed a special prosecutor to examine cases in which a grand jury fails to indict an officer. Mayor Bill de Blasio has accused the NYPD of perpetuating “centuries of racism.”

This assault on law enforcement is reverberating throughout our cities. It’s being fueled by groups like Black Lives Matter, and it’s empowering the perpetrators and inviting danger into our neighborhoods. Rather than standing up for our law enforcement, top national leaders are feeding a false narrative that the police are not committed to protecting all Americans.
 
This is false. And the hostility must stop. The police must know they have the full support of the American people behind them as they risk their lives daily for our security.
 
 
If we don’t treat the threat to our police with the seriousness it deserves, we will not only be more vulnerable to terrorist attacks on our own soil, but we will reverse the enormous national strides we have taken over the past few decades to prevent crime.
 
In the 1990s, when crime soared in American cities, New York City leadership launched an effort to crack down on crime. Through the “broken window” theory of fighting petty crimes, and by using the CompStat system to analyze crime data, many cities began to reverse the growing crime trend. The people who benefited the most were those in minority communities: More than 10,000 black and Hispanic males — who would have died if the crime rates for that decade had remained the same — are alive today. Blue lives protect black lives, and all lives.

 
If you’re looking for an executive-in-chief who will stand behind law enforcement, and honor and support the men and women who protect and serve – Senator Ted Cruz is your guy.

One man stands tall against Obama and the Left ~
 
For decades, Sheriff David A. Clarke, Jr. put his life and his energies into protecting and serving the people of Milwaukee County. Though always a man of strong opinions, it was when the White House cheered a war on police and pushed through pro-crime policies, freeing drug dealers while locking up police officers that he emerged as a national figure of unquestionable moral authority.
 
When Attorney General Eric Holder met Sheriff Clarke he sneered, “What’s up with the hat?” Political opponents have mocked Sheriff Clarke as a “big cowboy.” And indeed, the Sheriff of Milwaukee County wears a cowboy hat and he can be seen riding a horse. He also preaches “cowboy values” like speaking frankly and telling people that they have to be ready to stand up to criminals.
 
“You can beg for mercy from a violent criminal, hide under the bed or you can fight back,” he told his constituents. “You have a duty to protect yourself and your family.”
 
The meeting between Holder and Clarke was a clash of worldviews. In Holder’s social justice worldview, fighting crime only feeds the root causes of crime. The criminal is the victim. The crime victim is the perpetrator. Every arrest, whether of a drug dealer or a terrorist, only causes more crime.
 
Under Holder and Lynch’s social justice policing, the Ferguson Effect has crippled cops and juiced up crime. Cities are returning back to the bad old days when social justice reformers passed their pro-crime policies and some neighborhoods became nightmarish territories where the violence never stopped.

Underneath that cowboy hat is a law enforcement professional with a degree in Criminal Justice Management who has passed through training and leadership programs at Harvard and Quantico; the former Commanding Officer of the Intelligence Division of the Milwaukee Police Department, who knows both the theory of law enforcement and its grim reality at every level. Along the way, Clarke had earned a reputation for standing up for the men and women in law enforcement under his leadership.
 

 
 
 
National Review featured Clarke in their May 4, 2015 issue ➡

Sheriff Clarke is the left’s worst nightmare, a dedicated cop and a relentless thinker who can take apart their political and social failures with the same methodology that he used at crime scenes.
 
The left likes to castigate black conservatives as alien to the community, but Sheriff Clarke has proven them wrong by winning election after election. When he asks, “How do we go from Rosa Parks to Mike Brown as symbols of the Civil Rights Movement,“ he is speaking as the voice of a true civil rights movement which meets dependency with responsibility and victimhood with courage.
 
The war on police is really a debate about personal responsibility. And personal responsibility is the new and final civil rights movement. As weeping community organizers sell t-shirts decorated with photos of criminals, Sheriff Clarke rides tall with a call for personal responsibility and individual freedom.

I suspect Sheriff Clarke’s affiliation with the Democrat party is simply a matter of political pragmatism in Milwaukee County. Because when it comes to law and order – and the 2nd Amendment – the man is conservative as they come.

“Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself until we get there. You have a duty to protect yourself and your family. We’re partners now. Can I count on you?” he asks.

Miloš Zemanthe, president of the Czech Republic, is that increasingly rare thing in these darkening days: the leader of a western country who isn’t afraid to defend the culture of his own people and the sovereignty of their nation. In his annual Christmas address he was refreshingly plain-spoken about resisting the insidious European Hijrah ~

“This country is ours. And this country is not for, and cannot be – for all.”

Zemanthe makes an common sense observation about the demographic make-up of the “refugees,” one that should have already occurred to anyone not wearing politically-correct, multi-culti blinders ~

… I am deeply convinced that what we are facing is an organized invasion, and not the spontaneous movement of migrants […]
 
… the vast majority of illegal migrants are young able-boded men without families. And I ask: “Why do these men
not take up arms and fight for the freedom of their own country against the Islamic State?”

Exactly. Isn’t is odd that mobs of young Muslim men are running from their homeland, rather than staying and fighting the enemy? Are they a bunch of cowards or what? Why are they rushing to the lands of the hated infidels?
